business 101
pairing: csc x f!reader | wc: 1.3k genre/au: rival ceos, fluff, humor | warnings: none | rating: pg a/n: prequel to the contractual obligations universe // based on an ask for my 101 drabble prompt game!
The lecture hall buzzed with the usual pre-class chatter. The faint hum of laptops, the rustle of notebooks, and the occasional murmur of stress about looming midterms filled the air. You sank into your chair, flipping open your laptop to the blank document titled Business 101 Project.
âGroup assignments will be randomized,â the professor announced from the podium, his voice loud enough to silence most of the murmuring. âYour task: create a comprehensive business plan for a hypothetical company. Itâs due at the end of the semester. Creativity is welcome, but analysis and execution will determine your grade. Teams will be four people each, and I expect professionalism.â
When the names appeared on the screen, your heart sank.
Group 8: Choi Seungcheol, Jeonghan Yoon, Joshua Hong, Y/N L/N
You glanced around, spotting Jeonghan waving lazily at you with an amused smirk, while Joshua offered a polite nod. Then your eyes landed on Seungcheol. His lips quirked into a lopsided grin, the kind that spoke volumesâmostly about how annoying he planned to be.
âGreat,â you muttered under your breath, earning a chuckle from Jeonghan, who had slid into the seat next to you. Jeonghan and Joshuaâreliable, at least. But Choi Seungcheol? He caught your gaze and offered a cocky smirk.
Fantastic.
By the end of the first meeting, it was clear how things were going to go.
âWe need a solid foundation,â Joshua said, tapping his pen thoughtfully against the table. âLetâs start with a service idea and build from there.â
âSomething scalable,â you agreed. âLike a subscription modelâlow entry cost, high potential for growth.â
âThatâs boring,â Seungcheol cut in, his voice casual but gratingly dismissive. âWhy not focus on a bold product launch? Something with impact.â
âImpact doesnât pay the bills,â you shot back, narrowing your eyes. âWe need a strategy thatâs actually sustainable.â
âSustainable,â he repeated, leaning back and folding his arms. âSure. Letâs just settle for mediocre so we donât have to take any risks.â
âAnd crash and burn if it flops?â you shot back, unable to hide your irritation. âThatâs reckless.â
Seungcheol leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms with a smirk. âNo risk, no reward.â
âNo risk, no grade either,â you retorted, your voice sharper than intended.
Jeonghan cleared his throat, breaking the tension. âI see this is going to be... fun.â He exchanged a glance with Joshua, who already looked like he regretted his life choices.
By the third meeting, the rivalry had reached critical mass.Â
âWho made you the CEO of this group?â Seungcheol snapped after you vetoed one of his flashier ideas.
âIâm not the CEO,â you retorted, jabbing a finger at the project outline. âIâm just the one who doesnât want us to fail.â
âFail?â he repeated with a mock laugh. âRight, because your ideas are so revolutionary. Letâs hear it for our subscription box for socks or whatever youâre pitching.â
You glared. âSocks sell.â
âNot as much as actual creativity,â he shot back.
Jeonghan sighed dramatically. âIâm this close to quitting college,â he muttered to Joshua, who nodded solemnly.
This was now less a project, and more a battlefield. You and Seungcheol clashed over every detailâbudget projections, marketing angles, even the font choices for the presentation slides. Jeonghan coined the term âWednesday Night Warâ after one particularly heated Zoom meeting, where the two of you had yelled over each other for a full ten minutes before Joshua muted you both.
Despite the argumentsâor maybe because of themâthe project came together. By some miracle, your calculated planning and Seungcheolâs riskier ideas balanced each other out. When the group received an A, Joshua and Jeonghan looked ready to celebrate.
You and Seungcheol, however, couldnât even agree on that.
âI carried this project,â he said, smirking at you as the grades were handed back.
âExcuse me?â you said, turning to him. âIf you carried it, then I was the one steering so you didnât walk us off a cliff.â
âYouâre welcome for my bold ideas,â he replied.
âAnd youâre welcome for my common sense,â you shot back, storming out of the classroom before you could strangle him.
A celebration was inevitable. After weeks of late nights and endless bickering, Jeonghan declared a house party to blow off steam. You werenât in the mood for it, but Joshuaâs pleading eyes and the promise of free drinks eventually won you over. The house was packed, the bass from the speakers thrumming through your chest. You spotted Jeonghan and Joshua near the makeshift bar, both nursing drinks and chatting with friends.Â
Jeonghan greeted you with a sly grin. âAnd here I thought you were too good for us,â he teased, handing you a drink.
âIâm here for Joshua,â you replied, taking a sip. âNot you or him.â
âYou mean Seungcheol?â Jeonghan asked innocently, his grin widening when you glared at him.
Across the room, Seungcheol leaned against the counter, laughing at something someone had said. His dark shirt clung to his shoulders in a way that annoyed youâit was unfair how effortlessly attractive he looked, especially when you could practically feel him waiting to pick another fight.
When his eyes met yours, he smirked.
You shouldâve walked away, but instead, you marched straight up to him.
âAre you stalking me now?â you asked, crossing your arms.
âStalking?â he echoed, raising an eyebrow. âYouâre in my space.â
âYour space?â you scoffed. âPretty sure this is Jeonghanâs house.â
âSemantics.â
The two of you fell into your usual rhythm of bickering, the tension between you thick enough to draw the attention of Jeonghan and Joshua.
âTheyâre at it again,â Joshua remarked, taking a sip of his drink.
Jeonghan sighed dramatically. âWhy donât they just kiss already?â
Joshua smirked, nodding toward where you and Seungcheol stood toe-to-toe. âWait for it.â
Back near the bar, the argument had reached new heights.
âYou think youâre so much better because you play it safe?â Seungcheol taunted, his voice low but heated.
âAnd you think being reckless makes you a visionary?â you fired back, stepping closer.Â
âYou wouldnât know a bold move if it slapped you in the face,â he shot back, his tone biting.
âDo you ever shut up?â you snapped, stepping closer.
âDo you?â he fired back, his smirk daring you to do something about it.
The crowd around you began to thin as people sensed the escalating tension. Seungcheolâs jaw tightened, his eyes locked on yours. For a moment, neither of you spoke, the air between you crackling.
Then he grabbed your wrist.
âWeâre settling this,â he growled, his voice quiet enough that only you could hear.
âExcuse me?â you sputtered, but he was already pulling you through the crowd, his grip firm but not rough.
From across the room, Jeonghan raised his glass to Joshua with a knowing smile. âTold you.â
âBet you a round they donât come back for hours,â Joshua added, and Jeonghan laughed, clinking his glass.
Seungcheol dragged you into an empty room, the noise of the party muffled by the closed door. He let go of your wrist, turning to face you with a look you couldnât quite decipher.
âYou canât justââ you began, but the words died in your throat as he stepped closer.
âCanât just what?â he challenged, his voice quieter now but no less intense.
Your breath hitched as the tension that had simmered for weeks finally reached its boiling point. âWhat do you want from me, Seungcheol?â
He didnât answer with words. Instead, he cupped your face in his hands and kissed you. It wasnât gentle or tentativeâit was hungry, desperate, like heâd been holding himself back for far too long.
You froze for half a second before kissing him back just as fiercely, your hands tangling in his hair as the weeks of frustration and tension melted away into something electric.
The rest of the world disappeared. All that existed was the way his hands gripped your waist, the press of his body against yours, the taste of beer on his lips.
When you finally pulled apart, both of you were breathing hard, your foreheads resting against each other.
âThis doesnât mean I like you,â you whispered, your voice shaky but defiant.
Seungcheol smirked, his thumb brushing over your cheek. âYeah? Keep telling yourself that.â

how did you get your comics seen? it's one thing to make them and a whole other thing to get people to lay eyes on them and read them and I have no idea how to do the second part
I think you'll have to at least make friends with some of your peer group (artists who are at the same stage in their career as you) so you can both share your audiences and if nothing else, have each other as readers. If you're really new, it's kinda a fact that your work will be tiny for a few years: there's a lot of stuff online.
I am not a spring chicken anymore so all my current advice for promotion wouldn't apply as the majority of it required years of presence and establishment with the comics industry... now that my peer group has matured and become successful creators (I know that my peers are casually aware of what I put out, they may or may not read it or even comment). Additionally, my way of promoting is as avoidant of playing the algorithm and virality and tailoring to the most amount of possible audience. If you want the opposite of that, you can ask @secondlina - who has done a lot of experimentation with social media and gaming the internet attention economy.
I'm not all that interest in gaming anything: I only want to serve the audience I have and always had - thoughtful, chill readers who are ok with slow reading, in the sense they don't ask me for constant content since they get what my vibe is. They are here for my lush visuals, original material and approach to topics/characters. It's this audience, and the academics + people who tend to be older and are equivalent/less levels of "online" to me. I personally find that gaming for views on purpose steals time and energy away, since a lot of the tactics tend to ask you to behave or post or draw a certain way that might feel unnatural with no guarantee whether the effort is worth it. For example, making memes of your characters, doing funny reels with music. If you are cool with doing all that though, again, @secondlina is your expert. I can see why those tactics are popular: that's how Big Tech dictates you get access to their "discovery" algorithm.
For me, in the early days what got new eyes onto my narrative work was making one-off illustrations (not necessarily of the comic - just some original character concepts) that somehow got popular. This was during the peak eras of Twitter and Tumblr though. The other thing was mostly talking about my comics: I document so much of my process. People love this apparently. It's the only guaranteed way for myself that gets people hype and aware of the comic's existence - though this might partly be caused by the aforementioned audience I always had. It's very low effort cos I mostly post screenshots of WIPs or developmental sketches and include a comment.
But like, with webcomics, I always operated on the assumption that people don't read my work. I am just here vibing. If there are readers (and I know who you are because of comments made across social media / my websites over the years) I appreciate them, but I don't want to ask much of them either. I put out the work I like, and whoever comes across it and likes it can stay, maybe comment, maybe get the print edition.
Yeah, this is not such a satisfactory answer for marketing if you're not subscribed to my brand of being an online artist: which is slow-growth, sustained working. My established methods now are: talking about my work, documenting it, connecting with peer group + older generations of professionals (established critics, journalists, editors), running a newsletter, going on interviews/podcasts, submitting my art to whatever I think would help promote it - pitch to Shortbox Fair, apply to Knife Beetle or the Cartoonist Cooperative, join a Discord.
And advanced methods, like applying for artist residencies.
In the end I cannot emphasise enough to get to know your peers who are at the same level of career as you are. Find creators who started at the same time you did and read their work (your choice); talk to them directly if the style/vibe matches. This is long-term mutual commitment - you won't see the effects until years later when you each find success in the paths you chose. And just to give you an idea of who my original peer group is - choo, Ariel Ries, Kay O'Neill, Bree Paulsen, Toril/Eden Orlensky, Kaeti V, Kevin Jay Stanton, Victoria Grace Elliot, Britt Sabo - we were all obscure mutuals/friends at more or less the same time. Then we each found our own way. Over time the circle grew to include other peer groups - ones that started slightly earlier or later, and new contacts of the same level. And that's how one gets established. As this is happening you will get eyes to your work naturally.

reading update: February
ahoy, gamers! after an uneven start to my reading year in January (high highs, low lows) I've had a pretty consistently excellent February! yes, I'm including Red, White & Royal Blue. it may not have been good, but it was definitely fun. more on that in a minute, but I cannot recommend enough if you, like me, are a rancid hater.
what have I been reading?
Sharks in the Time of Saviors (Kawai Strong Washburn, 2020) - @dykerory came upon this book in a pretty fruitless search for good adult novels that prominently feature sharks, a weird gap in the market that seems to ignore that SOME OF US don't ever stop thinking sharks are fucking sick. (don't talk to me about Jaws. even Peter Benchley regrets Jaws.) while Sharks in the Time of Saviors actually has much less shark action happening than one might hope based on the title, it's very much a case of "came for the shark on the cover, stayed for the phenomenal writing." the novel follows the lives of the three Flores siblings: athletic oldest son Dean, academic little sister Kaui, and middle child Noa, who possesses odd abilities that seem to be a gift straight from Hawaiian gods and just might be the savior his impoverished family needs. spoiler alert: growing up as a demigod in the 21st century is hard, and success is hardly guaranteed. Washburn writes beautifully about the the suffocating realities of struggling to survive poverty, and the ways it can both tie families together and creature fractures that are difficult to heal. apparently this was Barack Obama's top novel of 2020 and I am forced once again to acknowledge that the war criminal has taste.
Blue-Skinned Gods (SJ Sindu, 2021) - okay so this is ALSO a book about a boy being raised to believe he's channeling the divine; I accidentally struck a bit of a two-book theme. Blue-Skinned Gods follows the early life of Kalki, a boy born with blue skin and raised in a isolated Indian ashram by parents who assure him (and their many paying devotees) that he's the final incarnation of Vishnu. from a very young age Kalki is placed on a pedestal and expected to behave as a perfect spiritual leader, and you guys won't believe what happens next -- it turns out that really fucks with a kid. what follows is a coming of age story unlike any other, following Kalki's growth from a self-assured child god to a young man with a lot of questions about exactly how he fits into the world. Sindu's writing is smooth as hell, impossible to put down, and takes Kalki down some thrillingly unexpected twists that complicate every notion of identity and self. 10/10, made me want to go read all of Sindu's other work immediately.
My Solo Exchange Diary Vol. 1 (Nagata Kabi, trans. Jocelyne Allen 2016) - I was not remotely joking last month when I said that My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness was so good that I would be tracking down all of Ngata's other work in short order. her solo exchange diary continues to document a journey of self-growth with none of the usual unbearable fluff that phrase entails, instead highlighting all the discomfort that comes with realizing you can no longer keep living the way you were and finding yourself pissing, shitting, shaking, etc, in the face of learning how to do something different. I really admire the way Nagata's vulnerability is upfront and prevents her from ever sounding like some kind of self-help guru who claims to know everything; her self-discoveries are presented as unexpected gems rather than universal truths, the discoveries of someone as pleasantly surprised by her own progress as all of her readers. there's something immensely comforting in these graphic novels, which I think is the reminder that there's literally no wrong time to start wanting and doing better for yourself.
Me, Not You: The Trouble with Mainstream Feminism (Alison Phipps, 2020) - I added this book to my TBR because I noticed that Phipps seemed to be drawing the ire of a lot of TERFs on twitter, which is (in my experience) usually a pretty good indicator that someone is doing something interesting worth checking out. having finally circled around to her book, I can see why Phipps (who seems to have since deleted her twitter account) was making TERFs so angry: Me, Not You doesn't even get to page 10 without plainly stating its thesis statement that trans exclusionary feminism is inseparable from other reactionary conservative ideologies such as racism, colonialism, and misogyny itself. so that's a super promising thesis, but how about the actual content of the text? eeeeh. Phipps drops a lot of the right names -- especially Sara Ahmed, and I can certainly never object to Ahmed -- and she's certainly sincere, but I can't help feeling that many of her arguments come across as a bit shallow and under-supported for the sake of time. if I were assigning this book it would be the first week reading for, like, a semester-long exploration of white feminism, with more substantial reading to follow. not a bad primer on the whole, but lacking if you've, say, already read most of the writers Phipps is influenced by.
Nightbitch (Rachel Yoder, 2021) - this is a book that I have been MEANING to read since it came out in mid-2021, and I have FINALLY gotten around to it. having done it: I would say worth the hype. Nightbitch is an intensely internal meditation about the mundane horrors of motherhood, of isolation and endless repetition, of time and energy lost and creative pursuits stifled seemingly forever. its terror is that of the loss of self and endless stagnation in the face of duty, and how sometimes you get tired of being nice and just want to go apeshit turn into a dog and run howling through the night to kill small animals and take a shit on your republican neighbor's lawn. I don't even have a kid and it sounds good, so you can imagine how delighted I was when (vague spoilers) the book ends with Nightbitch absolutely winning. go, girlboss!
Mongrels (Stephen Graham Jones, 2016) - in another accidental two-book thematic streak, I immediately followed Nightbitch with Stephen Graham Jones' books about the saddest, grossest werewolves ever. Mongrels pulls no punches about the bloody realities of shifting perpetually between forms -- werewolves have to avoid wearing anything that won't tear away when they transform, because it will simply meld with their skin when they change back and kill them slowly; they have to dispose of their trash constantly, or risk eating something that will kill them slowly when they next turn into a hungry wolf; when human women give birth to werewolves they have to be killed quickly or, you guessed it, turn into half-dog monsters and die slowly. but despite the horrors, Jones' werewolves take grim pride in what they are and the solace they find in each other on their endless nomadic quest to avoid discovery and live the best lives they can. it's only February, but I'm absolutely confident saying that this blood-splattered book is going to be one of my favorites of the year.
Book Banning in 21st-Century America (Emily J.M. Knox, 2015) - I was lucky enough to recently see Dr. Knox lecture at the university where I work, and I'd hopped on my local library's website to place this book (her dissertation) on hold before she'd even finished speaking. while the text is a lot dryer than her very charming in-person presence, I think it's extremely important reading for anyone who has a vested interest in, you know, book banning and the prevention thereof. Knox cannily summarizes the attitudes that lead to challenges to the accessibility of various reading materials, offering examples from real challenges and interviews with challengers, creating a comprehensive study of the symbolic power exerted by fighting to remove a book from a library or high school curriculum. I think these kinds of studies are so vital, because understanding the mindset of people to whom you're pretty much completely ideologically opposed can be illuminating in many ways. I was particularly shaken by one grandmother's objections to the book I use when teaching human development to 4th-6th graders, which I consider incredibly tasteful and the grandmother in question considered pornography that was hellbent on destroying the fabric of American society. the more you know!
Red, White & Royal Blue (Casey McQuiston, 2019) - look, I pretty much already said it all here. this is a romance novel for adults who want to read about gay sex without having to see the word "penis" and believe that voting democrat is the best solution the all of America's ills. the plot is nonsense and reading it made me feel insane. I enjoyed almost every second of it because I experienced the correct way, which was reporting its many sins live to my wife, my creative partner @dykerory, and any other hapless passerby I could force to hold still and listen for five seconds. yes I will be watching the movie. no further questions.
sorry this update isn't in bulleted list form like normal, tumblr told me I had too many fucking characters and wouldn't let me post it until I separated them đ

Business Plan Development: A Comprehensive Guide for Success
Image by shironosov from Getty Images
In the fast-paced world of business, having a well-thought-out strategy is essential for success. Business plan development is a crucial process that involves outlining the goals, strategies, and operational plans of a business. This article delves into the key components of effective business plan development, its importance, and how it can set your business on the path to success.
Understanding the Importance of a Business Plan
A business plan serves multiple purposes. It acts as a roadmap for entrepreneurs, guiding them through the various stages of business growth. Additionally, it is an essential tool for securing financing from investors or lenders. A well-structured business plan demonstrates the viability of your business idea, highlighting the potential for profitability and growth.
Moreover, business plan development allows you to conduct a thorough analysis of your market, competition, and financial projections. By identifying potential challenges and opportunities, you can formulate strategies to navigate the business landscape effectively. In this sense, a business plan is not just a document; itâs a strategic tool that can help you make informed decisions and minimize risks.
Key Components of Business Plan Development
When embarking on business plan development, there are several critical components to consider:
1. Executive Summary
The executive summary is the first section of your business plan, but it is often written last. This section provides an overview of your business, its mission, and the key points that will be discussed in the plan. It should be concise yet compelling, capturing the readerâs attention and encouraging them to read further.
2. Company Description
This section provides detailed information about your business, including its history, structure, and the products or services you offer. A clear and concise company description helps potential investors understand your businessâs unique value proposition.
3. Market Analysis
Conducting a thorough market analysis is vital during business plan development. This section involves researching your target market, understanding consumer behavior, and identifying your competition. By analyzing market trends and demographics, you can develop strategies to position your business effectively.
4. Organization and Management
This section outlines the organizational structure of your business, including the management team and their qualifications. Highlighting the expertise of your team can instill confidence in potential investors regarding your ability to execute the business plan successfully.
5. Marketing and Sales Strategies
Your marketing and sales strategies are crucial components of business plan development. This section should outline how you plan to attract and retain customers. It may include information on pricing, promotions, and distribution channels, as well as digital marketing strategies that leverage online platforms.
6. Financial Projections
https://enterprisechronicles.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/2.3-Financial-Projections-Image-by-WICHAYADA-SUWANNACHUNs-Images-scaled.jpg
Financial projections provide insight into the potential profitability of your business. This section should include projected income statements, cash flow statements, and balance sheets for at least three years. By presenting realistic financial forecasts, you can demonstrate the viability of your business to potential investors.
7. Funding Request
If you are seeking funding, your business plan should include a funding request detailing how much money you need and how you plan to use it. Be specific about the types of funding you are seeking, whether through loans, investments, or grants.
The Process of Business Plan Development
Developing a business plan is a step-by-step process that requires careful consideration and research. Here are some essential steps to guide you through business plan development:
Step 1: Conduct Market Research
Before diving into the actual writing of your business plan, take the time to conduct comprehensive market research. Understand the dynamics of your industry, identify your competitors, and gather insights about your target audience.
Step 2: Outline Your Business Plan
Create an outline of your business plan, incorporating all the key components mentioned above. This will help you organize your thoughts and ensure that you cover all essential areas.
Step 3: Write and Edit
Begin writing your business plan based on your outline. Be clear and concise in your writing, and make sure to use data and evidence to support your claims. After completing the first draft, take the time to edit and revise it for clarity and coherence.
Step 4: Seek Feedback
Once you have a polished draft, seek feedback from trusted colleagues, mentors, or industry experts. Constructive criticism can provide valuable insights and help you refine your business plan further.
Step 5: Finalize and Present
After incorporating feedback, finalize your business plan. If you are seeking funding, prepare a compelling presentation that highlights the key points of your plan. Be ready to answer questions and engage with potential investors or lenders.
Utilizing Business Plans as Living Documents
https://enterprisechronicles.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/2.4-Utilizing-Business-Plans-as-Living-Documents-Image-by-kanchanachitkhamma-scaled.jpg
Itâs important to remember that a business plan is not a static document. Business plan development should be viewed as an ongoing process. As your business grows and the market evolves, your business plan should be updated to reflect these changes. Regularly reviewing and revising your plan ensures that it remains relevant and effective as a guiding tool for your business.
Conclusion
In conclusion, effective business plan development is crucial for any entrepreneur aiming for success. A well-structured business plan not only serves as a roadmap for your business but also helps in securing financing and navigating the competitive landscape. By following the key components and processes outlined in this article, you can create a comprehensive business plan that sets the foundation for your businessâs success.
As noted in Enterprise Chronicles, one of the best magazines for business insights, having a robust business plan is a critical step in transforming your ideas into reality. By investing time and effort into the development of your business plan, you equip yourself with the tools needed to succeed in todayâs challenging business environment. Embrace the process, stay adaptable, and watch your business thrive!

Is blogging still relevant in the age of TikTok & Instagram?
Image from ContentWriterIreland
With the rapid evolution of digital platforms, questions like this highlight the shifting role of blogging in a world dominated by quick, visual content. Rather than fading away, blogging has adapted to new trends and the changing needs of readers. Blogs are spaces for regularly updated content, posted chronologically (Goldstein 2009, cited in Heinen et al. 2024), and platforms like WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, and Medium (Ashbridge 2024) continue to make blogging accessible. Even as visual platforms thrive, blogs offer something unique: room for long-form content and a deeper level of community engagement (Bottle 2024), setting them apart in todayâs digital landscape.
Blogging as a Public Sphere
Early coffee shops were central to what we now call the public sphere / Getty Images
Heinen et al. (2024) argues that blogging isnât just a way to improve writing skills; itâs a space for people to engage in real, meaningful conversations. Blogging platforms give individuals a place to share their thoughts and connect with like-minded readers, creating a âpublicâ setting where shared opinions and mutual understanding can actually take shape. This idea echoes JĂŒrgen Habermasâs concept of the âpublic sphereââan ideal space where people come together to discuss common issues openly, guided by logic and a sense of the public good.
Unlike traditional media, which is often steered by corporate interests, blogging platforms offer a more independent, open forum for public dialogue (Mummery & Rodan 2013). By sticking to these principles of open, reasoned debate, blogging keeps alive a sense of authentic community engagementâsomething that mainstream media often struggles to achieve as it leans toward profit-driven narratives.
The Evolution of Blogging
Blogging has had to adapt to stay relevant in a world ruled by TikTok and Instagram. Short, snappy videos are hard to beat for quick engagement. Platforms like TikTok and Instagram have become the go-to for marketers aiming for trendy, digestible content (Mou 2020, cited in The et al. 2021). But blogging isnât out of the game yet. Over 60% of internet users read blogs, with a huge 77% engaging dailyâbillions of readers. Notably, more young people in the UK are reading blogs now than in 2010 (Bottle 2024).
Blogging has also diversified. Todayâs blogs cover everything from lifestyle and travel to finance and tech, creating communities around specific interests. Unlike short-form videos that provide instant entertainment, blogs invite readers to slow down and engage with narratives. By incorporating visuals like videos, gifs, and memes, blogs enhance the reading experience, blending depth with digital interactivity.
Unique Benefits of Blogging
One of bloggingâs biggest strengths over platforms like TikTok and Instagram is its flexibility for in-depth content (Lou 2024). Blogs allow creators to explore complex topics, share insights, and document processesâall of which attract loyal audiences looking for substance. Additionally, blogs act as personal portfolios or archives, showcasing growth and expertise in ways transient social media posts canât.
Another advantage is Search Engine Optimization (SEO) (Coleman 2014). Blogs optimized with the right keywords can achieve long-term visibility on search engines like Google, driving organic traffic. Unlike social media posts, which are limited to platform algorithms, blogs extend their reach to new audiences over time. This makes them invaluable for brands and creators wanting a sustained digital presence.
The Future of Blogging
Whatâs next for blogging in a world obsessed with quick TikTok dances and Instagram reels? Itâs all about adapting while keeping the essence of storytelling and connection. As short-form content dominates, blogs can innovate with more visuals, bite-sized posts, or embedding TikToks and Reels into their narratives. Collaborations between bloggers and influencers can also bridge the gap, offering content thatâs both engaging and insightful.
AI tools and advanced SEO could further personalize blogs, turning them into digital havens for readers with specific interests. Whether itâs DIY hacks or gaming guides, blogs provide a depth of content that short-form videos canât fully replicate.
What did we learn?
Blogging isnât just survivingâitâs thriving by embracing its strengths: fostering communities, diving into meaningful topics, and adapting to new trends. TikTok and Instagram might be the kings of quick engagement, but blogs remain the masters of depth and storytelling.
The real question is, as technology evolves, how will blogging reinvent itself again? Whether through shorter posts, innovative visuals, or strategic collaborations, blogs prove that theyâre not just relevantâtheyâre essential.

Why Submitting Your Student Travel Experiences Truly Matters
For students embarking on a journey of discovery through travel, the experience is much more than just exploring new places. Itâs about uncovering different perspectives, learning from diverse cultures, and acquiring insights that can shape personal and professional growth. As a student traveler, one of the most powerful ways to share these lessons is by submitting your travel experiences to niche platforms, such as blogs dedicated to student travel. Niche travel blogs, like the Digital Travel Expert Blog, offer a unique opportunity for student travelers to document their adventures while establishing a professional portfolio that can set them apart in the competitive travel and hospitality industry. Submitting your student travel experiences to such blogs can give you a platform to share your stories, insights, and the lessons you've learned along the way. But how can you make your travel submissions stand out and resonate with a wider audience? Letâs dive into why and how submitting your student travel experiences can be beneficial for both personal growth and career advancement.
The Power of Student Travel Storytelling: Why Submitting Your Student Travel Experiences is Key to Building a Strong Portfolio
Student travel storytelling is an essential component of building a compelling travel portfolio. Traveling as a student isn't just about seeing the worldâit's about the stories you bring back. The experiences you gain and the people you meet have the potential to offer rich, unique insights that others in the travel community might not have encountered. When you share your journey through storytelling, you give life to your experiences. Instead of merely describing the places you visit, you connect your emotions, challenges, and triumphs with the reader. This form of student travel storytelling helps create narratives that resonate with fellow students and travelers who are looking for inspiration and relatable content. Moreover, travel blogs with a niche focus on student experiences provide a valuable platform where these stories can be amplified. By submitting your travel experiences, you are not only contributing to the broader travel conversation but also showcasing your ability to observe, learn, and reflectâskills that are crucial in the professional world.
Travel Experience Submission Tips for Students While submitting your student travel experiences is an exciting opportunity, crafting a submission that stands out requires a little more than just recounting your trip. Here are a few tips to help you submit your travel experiences in a way that maximizes their impact: 1. Be Authentic and Relatable In a world saturated with polished travel content, authenticity is key. Readers want to connect with your journey, and the best way to do that is by being genuine. Donât be afraid to highlight both the ups and downs of your travel experiences. Whether it's a funny mishap, a cultural shock, or a learning moment, these honest reflections will make your narrative more relatable and engaging. 2. Focus on Lessons Learned Students who travel gain valuable life lessons that go far beyond academic knowledge. When submitting your travel experiences, focus on what youâve learned about different cultures, perspectives, and even yourself. How did the trip shape your worldview? What insights from the hospitality or travel industries did you gather? These reflections show depth and thoughtfulness, both of which can attract the attention of niche travel blogs. 3. Provide Detailed and Vivid Descriptions One of the most captivating aspects of travel writing is the ability to paint a vivid picture for the reader. Donât just tell your audience where you went; show them through detailed descriptions of the places, sounds, smells, and emotions you experienced. Whether itâs an ancient landmark, a bustling local market, or a peaceful retreat in the mountains, your ability to bring these moments to life will make your submission stand out. By adhering to these travel experience submission tips, you not only create captivating content but also increase the likelihood of your experiences being featured on niche blogs that focus on student travelers. This, in turn, helps build your portfolio and enhance your presence in the travel and hospitality industry. Sharing Your Student Journey Highlights: More Than Just a Blog Post While submitting your student travel experiences allows you to showcase your writing skills, it also provides a platform for highlighting important aspects of your journey. Sharing student journey highlightsâwhether itâs an internship in a foreign country, volunteering with a local community, or learning about sustainable tourismâadds value to your travel narrative. These highlights help set your content apart by focusing on meaningful and impactful experiences. Instead of simply providing a touristy account of the places you visited, try to emphasize the deeper connections you formed, the challenges you faced, and the contributions you made during your travels. Sharing these student journey highlights not only enriches your portfolio but also offers readers insights into how travel can be a transformative educational experience. Additionally, documenting educational travel experiences is an excellent way to demonstrate your academic engagement. By exploring the intersection of travel and educationâwhether it's learning about local cultures, history, or environmental sustainabilityâyou show potential employers and collaborators that travel has played an active role in your academic and personal development. This level of detail adds layers to your portfolio and can make your submission more valuable to those looking for student travel narratives that are both inspiring and informative. The Professional Benefits of Submitting Your Student Travel Experiences Building a portfolio through submitting your student travel experiences offers far-reaching benefits. A well-curated travel blog can serve as a testament to your passion for travel, cultural exploration, and the unique insights you've gained. Whether youâre aiming for a career in travel writing, hospitality, tourism marketing, or even the wider field of international relations, a strong travel portfolio can set you apart from the competition. Harnessing Educational Excellence to Propel Economic Growth and Innovation in Scotland
The Crucial Role of Education in Cultivating Economic Growth and Innovation Hello, dear readers! Today, we delve into a topic of paramount importance - the intersection of education, economic growth, and innovation, exploring how Scotland can harness its educational assets to foster an environment conducive to economic vitality and innovation. The connection between a well-educated populace and economic prosperity is well-documented. Countries that invest in quality education tend to enjoy higher levels of economic growth and stability. Education is not merely a pathway to career opportunities; it is a fundamental driver of innovation that can elevate entire communities and economies. In Scotland, our esteemed universities and research institutions are already a beacon of hope and innovation. However, there is an ever-growing need to align our educational outputs with the demands of a rapidly changing global economy. This involves not only equipping students with theoretical knowledge but also fostering critical thinking, creativity, and entrepreneurial skills necessary for modern industries and digital economies. Moreover, we must make a robust effort to bridge the gap between academia and industry. Enhancing partnerships between universities, tech companies, and start-ups can create a fertile ground for practical, scalable innovations. These collaborations can lead to the development of new technologies, products, and services that have the potential to revolutionise markets and improve quality of life. The Scottish educational system has the potential to lead by example in creating a seamless transition from educational institutions to the workplace by integrating apprenticeships, co-operative education models, and hands-on learning experiences. Such initiatives can enrich students' learning experiences and prepare them more-effectively for professional roles, thereby directly contributing to the economy. Looking forward, we must ask ourselves: How can Scotland better align its educational strategies with its economic goals to ensure a future of robust growth and innovation? How can we ensure that our education system not only informs but inspires the next generation of thinkers, leaders, and innovators? Thank you for joining todayâs discussion on enhancing the link between education and economic prosperity in Scotland. Transforming Data into Impact: Dubaiâs Premier Report Design Agency
In today's fast-paced business environment, data is the lifeblood of decision-making. However, data alone is not enough. The way data is presented can make a world of difference in how it is understood, interpreted, and acted upon. This is where professional report design comes into play, and in Dubai, the demand for high-quality, impactful report design services is on the rise. Businesses, government organizations, and startups alike are realizing the importance of presenting their data in a visually appealing and easily digestible format. Enter Dubai's premier report design agencies, such as Sandpaper, who are transforming raw data into powerful narratives.
The Power of Effective Report Design
Effective report design goes beyond just making documents look good. Itâs about enhancing communication, ensuring that key messages are conveyed clearly, and helping decision-makers quickly grasp the insights they need. Whether it's an annual financial report, a market research analysis, or an internal performance review, well-designed reports are essential for making data-driven decisions.
A well-crafted report can do the following:
Simplify Complex Data: Data can be overwhelming, especially when presented in large volumes. Through thoughtful design, complex data can be broken down into digestible pieces. Visual aids such as charts, graphs, and infographics help readers quickly understand key trends and insights.
Improve Engagement: People are naturally drawn to visually appealing content. A well-designed report will engage the audience, making them more likely to read and absorb the information. This is particularly important for reports that need to be presented to stakeholders, investors, or clients.
Enhance Credibility: A professionally designed report reflects well on the organization that produces it. It shows attention to detail and a commitment to quality, both of which enhance the credibility of the reportâs content.
Why Choose a Professional Report Design Agency?
While it might be tempting to rely on in-house resources for report design, partnering with a professional report design agency offers several advantages. For one, these agencies specialize in turning raw data into visually appealing reports that tell a story. Their expertise in design, typography, and layout ensures that every report they produce is not only aesthetically pleasing but also easy to navigate and understand.
In Dubai, a hub of innovation and business growth, professional report design agencies like Sandpaper have become essential partners for companies seeking to make a lasting impression with their reports. Hereâs why:
Expertise in Design and Data Visualization: Professional agencies have the tools and expertise to create custom designs that align with a companyâs brand and the nature of the data. They understand how to use colors, fonts, and layouts to create visually appealing and coherent documents. More importantly, they know how to present data in a way that tells a story, making it easy for the audience to grasp the key insights.
Time-Saving: Creating a high-quality report takes timeâtime that most companies donât have. By outsourcing report design to a professional agency, businesses can focus on their core operations while leaving the design work to the experts. Agencies have streamlined processes to ensure reports are delivered on time, without compromising on quality.
Customization and Flexibility: Each report is unique, with different objectives, target audiences, and content. Professional design agencies offer customization options that in-house teams may not be able to achieve. They can tailor the design to fit the specific needs of the client, whether itâs a minimalist style for a corporate report or a more vibrant and creative approach for a marketing presentation.
Consistency Across Reports: For companies that produce multiple reports over time, consistency in design is crucial. Professional agencies ensure that each report maintains a cohesive look and feel, aligning with the companyâs branding and messaging. This consistency builds brand recognition and reinforces the companyâs identity.
Dubai: A Thriving Market for Report Design
Dubai is a city synonymous with growth and innovation. As a global business hub, it is home to a wide range of industries, from finance and real estate to technology and tourism. These industries rely on data to make informed decisions, and as a result, there is a growing demand for high-quality report design services.
Businesses in Dubai are recognizing that well-designed reports can give them a competitive edge. Whether itâs presenting to investors, sharing performance updates with stakeholders, or communicating research findings, companies are turning to professional report design agencies to help them stand out.
Moreover, Dubaiâs multicultural environment means that reports often need to cater to diverse audiences, including international clients and partners. A well-designed report that presents data clearly and effectively can bridge cultural and linguistic gaps, ensuring that the intended message is communicated across different demographics.
