ain't nobody like my desi girl !
or; Jason Todd celebrating Diwali with his Indian girlfriend 🎆☄️✨
jason todd x fem!indian!reader, mildly suggestive at the end; I totally would’ve posted this last week when it was actually Diwali but I just made this blog yesterday #lolz that being said since I’m new here does anyone wanna be friends batboys x south asian!reader masterlist
When you invite him to your family’s house for Diwali, Jason shows up early to help with setting up decorations and preparing food. He’s especially eager to help with the food so he can learn to make your favorite dishes. He brings flowers for your parents and calls them ‘aunty’ and ‘uncle.’ He even does charanashpara (touches their feet). You hadn’t even told him to do that, but he did his own research because he just wants to make a good impression.
You wanted to get him a black kurta (because obviously) but he asked for a red one because he wanted to match with you. It fits him soooo nicely. The way it stretches across his broad chest and strains against his biceps when he crosses his arms…lord have mercy. That and the thin chain that hangs around his neck…you want to eat him alive.
He’s totally starstruck when he sees you in your traditional wear; the sequined red sari that exposes your collarbones, hugs you in all the right places, the low, low back of its blouse, and the gold jewelry adorning you—he can’t take his eyes off you all night. He’s physically pained by how beautiful you look and the fact that he can’t have his hands all over you because your family is right there. But rest assured his hand is warm and unmoving against your back, thumb dragging back and forth over the exposed skin allll night (what can I say he’s just a physical touch kind of guy I don’t make the rules).
He’s trying so hard to keep up with the prayers but the words in the booklet are so tiny and hard to pronounce the poor guy is just mouthing gibberish😭 He's so relieved when it's over. You show him all the sweets, explaining what each one is called and what its ingredients are, etc. When you point out your favorites, he takes one, breaks it in half so he can try it, and feeds you the other half.
And if you’re wearing red red lipstick to match the outfit? Oh he’s going feral. Before the party is even over he’s taking your hand and pulling you up the stairs to your room and that lipstick is getting smudged all over both his and your face and neck and chest. His large fingers have trouble undoing the tiny delicate hooks that run down your back and he's getting so frustrated he just wants to rip the thing open
"Don't you DARE, Jay, I LOVE this dress.” “C'mon babe, more than me?🥺”
He wouldn't dream of upsetting you, though, so he's whining and grumbling his way down. But halfway through he gets the hang of it and speeds through the rest, lips following the path his hands pave down the line of your back.
He can’t wait for next year.

The Hallow Hollow
It's that time of year again: the Fall and Winter holiday season is upon us, when droves of traditional / fundamentalist Muslims and Christians will tell you how evil you are for celebrating Halloween and/or Christmas (and/or Diwali and/or any other thing).
"Can Muslims celebrate Halloween?"
Of course! Muslims can participate in any event or holiday as long as they participate in permissible activities.
Participating in cultural aspects of Halloween or Christmas has no impact on one's belief system. The main detractors people bring up about Halloween come from its link to other religious systems, but you can participate in culturally-based aspects of any event while not also participating in the spiritual ones.
Particularly in the case of Halloween, every-day modern tradition in the West for the average family has nothing to do with spirituality: it is instead a fun event where people dress up, decorate, have parties, and get candy. In terms of Christmas for example, I was raised in a secular household where I did not even know Christmas was a religious holiday for years! It was lights, decorations, gifts, family, food, and joy.
Despite what some Muslims will lead you to believe: there's nothing haram or impermissible about joy.
Still, the prohibition by many in mainstream Islam is based on the presumption that certain activities would 'corrupt' one's religious steadfastness, or that one would 'inadvertently' participate in polytheistic, demonic, or non-Islamic spiritual practices. Both arguments fail as one is a logical fallacy (slippery slope primarily) and the other seems to ignore the fact that we are not held responsible for things we do not know (accidents or items beyond our knowledge).
One argument that branches from the "corruption" aspect is the idea that Muslims must retreat from the 'appearance of evil' -- Christians also heavily double-down on this one -- but if we're thinking logically as well as spiritually, a reasonable individual should be able to come to the conclusion that God probably was not talking about a felt witch hats and zombie costumes; there is nothing inherently evil about dress-up and candy (no, not even the vanilla extract).
One of the most hilarious arguments against Halloween that I've seen lately has been "You couldn't be praying". Or "you could be reading Qur'an". Yes I could. I could be praying or reading Qur'an instead of a lot of things: work, sleep, eating, any recreational activity whatsoever… why not give everything up and pray, read the Qur'an?
Because that's not an appropriate human life, to be quite frank, and it's not the life God planned for us because if that's what God wanted, God surely would have placed no desire for anything but prayer and Qur'an in our hearts. Instead, we have creative, intelligent minds that work best when they are properly enriched.
Ultimately what is important: at the end of the day, God knows your heart. And if your idea of "fun" is celebrating a variety of events throughout the fall and winter holiday season? You should do so with joy in your heart, and joy in and of itself will always be reminiscent of God.

Who taketh thy Purse?
It was the year 2009, Niki was all set to be engaged to this person who is irrelevant in this story. The invitations were out, and the family were expecting relatives to stay back at their place. Considering the budget constraints, the relatives decided to stay one night and leave soon after the ceremony. This would mean less cost and not imposing a lot of trouble on the bride’s family.
Niki is a sweet girl; She worked hard and saved up 10 years just for her big day. it was her favourite month. October, her engagement celebration would be clubbed along with her birthday and Diwali all on the same day, she was thrilled and over the moon.
On the day of the ceremony, Niki woke up very early for a change since there was make up to be done. She found her green jute purse lying on her table and she decided to keep it aside safely because the house was full and there was a lot of money and cards in it. Almost everything she owned was green. Her favourite colour, so much that her toothbrush, the paint on her wardrobe, the paint of her room, purse, handbags, and her engagement dress. All green.
The ceremony went well. All the relatives were so caring, and gaga over her appearance. Some never left her room, they were constantly hovering over her looks, what we wore, and questions about the future while she dressed. She wished for some privacy but being kind was her thing.
All were so tired post the function that her father forced the relatives to stay the night and leave the next morning. Everyone tiredly obliged. Next morning, it was the usual chaos at home. Everyone packing, the kitchen is hustling with steam and something hot cooking, the bathrooms are full. It was a 2-bedroom house, with 1 toilet and over 30 people housed all at once! It was chaotic but fun, there was laughter and talks about the ceremony. Niki felt very happy, to see the support of her aunts and uncles. Her cousins served her with fresh family gossip and her mother was in the kitchen cooking her favourite breakfast. Niki was delighted to see a house full of happy people, since she grew up with only 2 people in her house. Her father, mother, and her. Silently she wished for the party to never end.
Niki was in her room looking for her purse since she had to pay off the decorators. At first her movement were calm, she moved every bag around, opened every drawer. The momentum increased with a little stress in her tone of speech. Moments later, she could not think straight and finally panicked and screamed.
The happy relatives took offense when she asked if anyone saw her purse. They suddenly decided to end the giggle party and start packing and leave. Within an hour, the house that was roaring with laughter and noise, became silent with only Niki and her mother crying in one corner of her room. They searched and searched but in vain. After about a week, Niki confirmed that one of the relatives had done it, but she could not figure out whom.
The relatives were so offended with Niki questioning them, they never spoke to her again. They decided to stay in a hotel the next time they visited which was for the wedding. Some ignored her totally and did not even wish her on her big day. This was the same set of people who were in her room who could not get enough of her just few months ago.
Niki had to buy a new purse, apply for new cards, she had some memories stacked up in the purse which would miss forever. She cried thinking she would never see her cute little blue pebble which picked up from a beach when she first went to Goa. That pebble was part of her life and purse for years for no apparent reason. It was just cute and blue. She missed it, although while it was in her purse, she hardly noticed it in there. She sat and wondered what else was in the purse and what else did she lose apart from the money, cards, blue pebble, and some passport size photographs.
3 years passed. With time, Niki forgot all about the purse, with time the relatives were back to normal and with time, Niki learned to be more careful with things. Her parents found a new place to live and wanted to move. Niki was there to help them pack. She was in her room, packing all her beloved stuff which she could not take to her in-law’s house. She opened her green wardrobe, which now holds some plastic covers and junk which fall under the “we may use this” category.
She opened her drawer to see if she left out any jewellery in there. It was empty. While she put her hand deep inside the drawer to check the corners, she felt a small opening. She quickly took back her hand, like she had touched something dangerous. She was afraid to explore it again with her bare hands. She brought a torch and her mom to look. It was a small safe inside a safe and she saw something from a distance, and it suddenly struck her where she hid her purse before the ceremony to keep it safe from theft.
Embarrassment gushed down her face, and her mother gave her a look of disgust, because one among the relative Niki blamed was her mother’s cousin too! Niki was very happy to have her green purse back and everything in it. She remained silent and did not inform anyone that the lost was found.
The next big function was around in the family and the relatives were around. Uncle asked “Niki, any idea who took your purse?”
Niki and her mom exchanged glances and she shrugged her shoulders and said “No”.

My diwali went good. I woke up around 5 am today because I slept late last night. I did some gym and took my dog for a walk . Got ready in a chikankari kurti and worshipped ( you know morning diwali puja )
Then I called my parents and just helped Amma ( my housekeeper ) with the decoration and cooking . I went to a parlor in the afternoon to get my spa and returned with getting the Diwali gifts packed . Coming back home I studied and later I got dressed in the saree and did the Diwali puja at evening. did party arrangements and party started at nine pm. Had snacks , my friends drank ( I didn't because I don't drink ) , danced way too much and now after having dinner and dessert we're having a sleepover
Just gonna break apart my reactions:
-Definite difference in wake-up culture because your late is 5am and mine goes as far as 10:30. You did all kinds of stuff before puja, meanwhile I just go straight from PJs to puja (with a shower in between)
-I actually watched a Diwali-related movie with my mom last night. It's the 2023 Ramayan remake, Adipurush. Maybe you heard of it?
-Ugh, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I legit miss going to the gym. I haven't been in weeks because of a fracture (word of advice: always keep proper form on the treadmill)
-Pretty neat that you did the decorations on the same day. We'd probably have to do it the day before. Did you make a rangoli?
-Come to think of it, we don't even trade gifts on Diwali over here. We'll have to change that.
-You don't drink too?!? And you're also the only one in your friend group that doesn't? (Where have you been all my life?!?)
-Dam, girls are lucky they can have sleepovers so casually. Talking, games, movies, blood sacrifices, sounds like an awesome time to me!
Hope you had a blast. (Speaking of which, you didn't mention fireworks)
Thanks for the update. It was nice to read. May Laxmi and Narayana bless you while they're not making ou-
OW!
I think they found this post🤕
Anyways, Happy Diwali! Ram-Ram Siya Ram!🙏
