"The Seychelles has become a major tourist destination for beachgoing and scuba diving, but it’s not only humans that are beginning to flock to this island.
In what marine biologists have described as a “phenomenal finding,” a survey of whales around the territorial waters of this archipelagic nation revealed the presence of blue whales—over a dozen.
It’s the first time they’ve been seen in these warm seas since 1966, and it’s a wonderful milestone in a long and increasingly successful recovery for the world’s largest animal.
The Seychelles are located in the Indian Ocean off the east coast of Africa, and they were historically a stopover point for Soviet whalers en route to Antarctica. The years 1963 to 1966 were particularly difficult for whales here, and many were taken before the International Convention on the Regulation of Whaling put an end to the practice of hunting baleen whales in 1973.
Since 1966, no dedicated investigation of whales in the Seychelles had been made until 2020, when a partnership of four universities conducted an acoustic survey over the period of two years.
They made five different sightings of groups of up to 10 animals.
“This was a phenomenal finding,” Jeremy Kiszka, a co-author of the paper from Florida International University, wrote in The Conversation. “We were prepared to not see any blue whales due to the high level of hunting that occurred fairly recently and absolutely no information was available since the last blue whale was killed in the region in 1964.” ...
The team behind the survey sent images taken of the whales’ dorsal sides to a database to see if any of them had been recorded before, and amid the reel, not a single one was a match with any other photographed whale.
This, the team suggests, means they have probably never been seen before, which for a species that big might seem strange, but along with there being only 5,000 to 15,000 on Earth, they migrate vast distances while diving deep, making recording their movements incredibly challenging.
The survey identified 23 whale species in total using hydroponic mics over 2 years with peak activity coming between December and April. This is a fascinating finding that suggests something about the seas around the Seychelles makes for excellent whale habitat."

“What happened?” Jemma shouts as she wheels a stretcher to Mack, who is carrying unconscious Y/N in his arms.
He sets her down, following Jemma while explaining what happened on the mission. “I couldn’t see it clearly, but I’m pretty sure some part of the building fell on her. We found her passed out after we fought them off.”
Jemma and few others with medical knowledge get into doctor’s gowns. She lowers herself over Y/N, making the others don’t hear her. “You better not die before I can tell you how I feel.” She whispers quite harshly, scared of the possibility of losing her.
The medical instruments get set next to her. She grabs one and starts cutting Y/N’s suit open to see all the damage, ready to do anything it takes to save her.
It takes over an hour to asses all of the damage and do their best to fix it with the supplies they have.
Y/N is still passed out from the injury and anesthesia she got, but Jemma hasn’t left her side. The others have gotten to visit her too, but ultimately left after a short while to do other things. They know she’ll be in good hands with Jemma.
When her hand moves, Jemma stands up with a gasp. She leans over her, “Y/N?” She whispers. ”Are you awake?”
“Unfortunately.” She mumbles. Y/N opens her eyes with a groan. “It hurts. Feels like a building fell on me.”
“Well,” Jemma sits back to the chair, “it was a small part of a building, but yes.”
Laughing, Y/N sits up. “That’s fun.”
Jemma stares at her, her brows scrunched down. All her worry is bubbling up to the surface now that she doesn’t have to focus on being a doctor, she can be her friend now. “I was so worried.” She whispers, her voice wobbling.
“Hey, Jemma,” Y/N leans over to grab her hand with a small smile, “I’m alright. This happens during the job.”
“Don’t minimize this. I do the same job you do, I know the stakes.” She holds her hand with both of her own. “I just..” Sighing, her frown deepens. “I care about you so much and I was scared I wouldn’t get the possibility to tell you how much I actually, love you.”
Her heart beats fast as she waits for Y/N’s answer to her confession. She has been harboring these feelings for a long time, never sure if Y/N felt the same day. But after seeing her so badly injured, she couldn’t keep them in anymore.
“Well, I’m glad you got to told me.” Y/N whispers, her mouth in a wide smile. “Because I really love you too.”
Jemma laughs, relieved and over the moon to hear the words come out of her mouth. She stands up, hugging Y/N tightly.
“Ow.”
“I’m so sorry.” Jemma backs away instantly. “I didn’t mean to hurt you, I’m sorry.”
“It’s fine, Jemma.” Grabbing Jemma’s hand, she pulls her down to the bed, so they’re side by side. “I’m okay.”
They lay next to each other in silence, Y/N’s head on Jemma’s shoulder, her hand combing through her hair. “Would you take a break? Just a small one, to go to a holiday together?” She speaks quietly, not wanting to break the calm atmosphere in the room. “After you’ve healed, of course.”
“Definitely.” She moves her head up to look at her. “Where do you want to go?”
“I’ve read that scuba diving in the Seychelles is quite nice, I’d show you but I don’t have my laptop on me.”
Y/N giggles. “Seychelles it is.”

A startling new discovery has rocked both the botany and marine biology communities – a new species of coconut has been discovered growing underwater around the remote island archipelago of Nullepartia!
For centuries, sailors’ folklore has told of a mysterious coconut-like fruit that floats from the bottom of the Indian Ocean. In 17th century Europe, this enigmatic seed prized in cabinets of curiosities and dubbed “La Noix de La Sirene”. No specimens of the seed have survived into the 21st century, leading many historians and botanists to conclude the "Mermaid's Coconut" was a legend… until now!
The uninhabited volcanic islands of Nullepartia were claimed by France in the late 18th century, but their obscure location far from trade routes and lack of natural resources meant few people have ever travelled there. In early 2024 an intrepid team of scientists led by Dr. Philippe Faux and professional adventurer Miguel La Variel tracked down the true origin of La Noix de La Sirene. According to the team’s reports, the beaches of Nullepartia are littered with the heart-shaped coconuts and more were floating ashore. The team’s scuba divers discovered palm-like plants bearing the distinctive seeds growing underwater on the reefs around the islands. However, the dive team may be suffering from hallucinations becasue they reported half-fish, half-human beings armed with spears chasing them away from the palm grove. The scientific community is anxiously awaiting the next report, but strangely the team has gone silent since their last dive to collect specimens of La Noix de La Sirene…
APRIL FOOLS!
This fake news story was inspired by the real plant Lodoicea maldivica, an endemic Seychelles palm species aka the "Coco de Mer". This species has the largest naturally occurring fruit, weighing up to 36 kg and taking 8 years to mature. Since its biological origin remained unknown until 1743, the seed was the inspiration for many myths like the fictional story above!
Stay curious and always use your critical thinking skills!

Hmm my favourite ghosty ones would probably be bowers mansion, conjuring 1&2, queen mary with kian and jc, and crescent hotel. and any one that has a crazy good estes session.
xplr days probably nylex towers cuz das ma cityyyy, the hospital with jake, the six flags one definitely. i also really love the shot of them on top of the silo on the edge.
theyre just the ones that stand out off the bat, i probably have an actual favourite that i cant think abt lol
Im watching villisca now, i like nate :) i like any video he’s in bc he’s dope. also its nice to see a non-yter person who is so comfortable in front of the camera, too.
Oh i forgot 25x25 videos… the drifting episode was my fave by far. scuba diving, um. I actually havent seen many but also that one where they got stranded on the side of the road and then a fan rescued them lol she was so hype lol
- aussie anon
I like the part in Bowers where they find the room full of cats. That part is just so sweet.
I forgot they went to Alaska during 25x25! The fact that they got stuck on the side of the road in freezing cold temps like that and probably could've been in real danger but was saved by a random fan (and then gave that fan Colby's pants?!) is such a Sam and Colby thing to happen, I swear 🤣.
Some of the 25x25 videos are great, but the ones at the end where they ran out of steam and confidence and uumph are probably best left unwatched. The Seychelles videos are ok, I guess, but pretty much anything they did in Vegas is just...meh.
I wish they had followed through with their original vision for it - we would've gotten Colby's song as an episode, Sam's marathon as an episode, them learning how to ride motorcycles and taking a road trip...that would've played out much differently if they were able to fully see it through.
Ah, well. What can ya do.
Anyway, Nate! We love Nate. Nate is the absolute cream of the crop of people they bring with them (imo). He's so chill and works so well with them and with the camera.

Tbf to SnC 25x25 was inauthentic, they had other people filming it, they had other people editing it with them, it was a lot more scripted and it was stuff which everyone else on youtube was doing at the time. Though there were moments within the series which did shine and show the real them, a lot of it felt incredibly fake and plastic and wooden and just soso cringey.
25x25 also felt very rich boys waving money around and show offy to me, which made it rather unrelatable in all honesty and this was the main reason alot of the group of SnC fans I knew online completely stopped watching them. (they stopped watching TFIL for much the same reasons very quickly)
So I can understand when they say it's inauthentic because in truth it was. We get a lot more authentic stuff in their haunted content because they do all of it themselves and its a lot less scripted and less planned out which can also be viewed as a bad thing cos as you said it means they work none stop and take no breaks even when one of them is seriously ill.
I will say I loved parts of 25x25 but overall thinking them talking badly about it is a sign of their downfall like you seem to suggest shows that you don't view their content with quite the same eyes as a lot of the fandom.
Also sorry to burst the bubble but they've always been about the money ever since they started selling merch, so it is mildly amusing you've only just noticed that now.
your idea of authentic and my idea of authentic are very much opposite lol
bc while the content they do now, in theory, is them… so was 25x25, especially the earlier episodes.
before snc started 25x25, they were so EXCITED to film this content. they couldn't wait to post about it, they were hyped as hell to film bc it was fresh and new. that level of excitement, to me, hasn't been seen since when it comes to them talking about the content they make now. maybe with the original hell week. that was about the last time they felt genuinely excited for what they were making.
the first episode was about them getting tattoos that were about one another. it was about them connecting and showing how much they cared about one another. they showed how much they trusted each other by giving one another tattoos. that episode was all about their friendship. the car crash/drifting one was about confronting past traumas, same with the video of sam jumping off the rock in seychelles after breaking his back. the scuba diving video was how to deal with anxiety on a massive scale and really pushing yourself to do something you want to do.
these videos were such a great look into who they were as ppl, something that this fandom has bitched about since day one. everyone wants to be close to snc, and they handed that to us on a silver platter, but too many ppl wanted ~spooky content~. once the reception of their new content died off and ppl weren't watching, snc clearly lost all momentum they had for what they were creating, which is why you get things like the vegas video. like yeah, that was a little braggadocios, but snc aren't exactly poor middle class americans either. they have two fucking mcmansions, one of which they were living in at the time. having money is very much an snc thing. colby's closet is kinda proof of that alone lol
i think it also didn't play out in their favor bc it was the middle of the pandemic and travelling was still a no go. so doing exclusively travel content kinda seemed dumb and irresponsible. and it was. a lot of the content they made, they could have done back home or at least with a lot less travelling. but that mixed with ppl just wanting the same old content from them, even tho it wasn't gonna happen for a while, caused a lot of ppl to dip from snc's content altogether. it also didn't help that being in this fandom at the time was kind of a hellscape.
could 25x25 be a little over produced at times? sure. i won't argue against that. but to pretend that it was less like snc isn't reality, to me. that was them just as much as this content is them. the difference is they had a fire under their ass to make something back then. they had passion. and now this… this just feels like a job. like going thru the motions.
that's not to say i think they don't care about their content at all. clearly they do. but the spark of passion they one had for this haunted content is gone to me. they pigeonholed themselves into being ghost hunters and now are somewhat regretting it. they overwork themselves and have no personal lives. and that is causing them to have burn out that will eventually come to bite them in the ass.
and obviously they do shit for money and views. it's their job after all. i've never pretended to not know that. but there is a difference between "i get to work a job i love and also make a lot of money" and "i'm doing this job bc it makes money, it is what it is". it's the lack of love for the content that is starting to seep thru, imo.

These packages often include guided tours to national parks and reserves, such as the Serengeti in Tanzania, Masai Mara in Kenya, and Kruger National Park in South Africa. Travelers can expect to see a variety of animals, including lions, elephants, giraffes, and many more.
Cultural Tours: For those interested in the rich history and culture of Africa, cultural tours can provide an insightful experience. These packages often include visits to local villages, historical sites, and museums. Travelers can engage with local communities, learn about traditional crafts, music, and dance, and enjoy local cuisine.
Adventure Packages: Africa is a playground for adventure seekers. Packages may include activities such as hiking in the Drakensberg Mountains, kayaking in the Okavango Delta, or bungee jumping from the Victoria Falls Bridge. These packages cater to those looking for outdoor activities and physical challenges.
Beach Holidays: Africa is home to some stunning beaches along its coastlines. Packages that focus on beach holidays often include stays in destinations like Zanzibar, Mauritius, and the Seychelles. Travelers can enjoy sunbathing, snorkeling, diving, and other water sports.
Luxury Packages: For those seeking a more upscale experience, luxury vacation packages offer high-end accommodations, private tours, and exclusive experiences. This can include staying in luxury lodges, fine dining, and personalized services.
Family Packages: Family-friendly vacation packages are designed with activities suitable for travelers of all ages. These packages often include accommodations that cater to families, as well as activities that engage both adults and children.
Planning Your Africa Vacation Package
When planning your Africa vacation, it is essential to consider several factors to ensure a smooth experience:
Research Destinations: Take the time to research different countries and regions in Africa. Each destination has its unique attractions and experiences. Consider what you want to see and do, whether it’s wildlife, culture, adventure, or relaxation.
Choose the Right Time to Travel: The best time to visit Africa can vary by region. For example, the dry season is generally the best time for wildlife viewing in places like East Africa. Conversely, coastal areas may be more appealing during the warmer months. Understanding seasonal patterns will help you optimize your experience.
Budgeting: Determine your budget for the trip. Africa offers a wide range of options, from budget-friendly hostels to luxurious lodges. Vacation packages often include accommodations, meals, and activities, which can help you manage your expenses.
Health Considerations: Certain regions in Africa may require vaccinations or malaria prophylaxis. Consult with a healthcare provider to understand any health recommendations or requirements for your destination.
Travel Insurance: It is advisable to purchase travel insurance to cover unexpected events, such as trip cancellations, medical emergencies, or lost luggage. This adds an extra layer of security to your travel plans.
Booking Process: When booking a vacation package, consider using a reputable travel agency or tour operator that specializes in African travel. They can provide valuable insights, help tailor your itinerary, and ensure that all logistics are handled efficiently.
What to Expect from Your Package
When you book an Africa vacation package, you can expect a well-organized itinerary that includes accommodations, meals, guided tours, and sometimes transportation. Most packages are designed to provide a comprehensive experience, allowing you to see multiple attractions without the stress of planning each detail.
Accommodations: Depending on the package, accommodations can range from budget-friendly hotels to luxury lodges. Some safari packages may include stays in tented camps for a more authentic experience. Ensure that your package specifies the types of accommodations included.
Guided Tours: Most packages include guided tours, which can enhance your experience by providing expert insights into the local culture, wildlife, and history. Guides are often knowledgeable and can answer questions you may have during your travels.
Meals: Meals may be included in your package, but it’s essential to check what is covered. Some packages offer all-inclusive meals, while others may only provide breakfast. This can affect your overall budget, so be sure to clarify what to expect.
Transportation: Depending on the itinerary, transportation may be included in your package. This can involve guided vehicle transfers, domestic flights, or even boat rides, depending on your destinations.
Tips for a Successful Trip
To make the most of your Africa vacation package, consider the following tips:
Pack Wisely: Africa’s climate can vary significantly depending on the region and time of year. Pack appropriate clothing for both warm days and cooler nights, especially if you plan to go on a wildlife safari.
Stay Flexible: While packages are generally structured, there may be opportunities for spontaneous activities or changes in plans. Being open to new experiences can enhance your trip.
Engage with Locals: Take advantage of opportunities to interact with local communities. This can provide a deeper understanding of the culture and enrich your travel experience.
Document Your Journey: Keep a travel journal or take photos to capture your experiences. This can help you remember your adventures and share them with others later.
Be Respectful: Always respect local customs and traditions. Understanding cultural differences can lead to a more enjoyable experience for both you and the communities you visit.
