“I know.” Ryahno responded to the giant’s explanation.
“You… You did?” Yuw was surprised as she looked at her friend for confirmation. “For how long?”
Ryahno slowly blinked once before speaking up. “Ever since we found the body.”

I was gonna work on the second page of Magic Pains, got half way done coloring it then said "fuck it DOODLE DUMP TIME!!" Really I just doodled whatever my heart wanted to, so we got some silly, some wholesome and some uh oh... I really should post more about my hcs for Galacta Knight. I also probably should brush up on drawing him so I can do silly meme centric comics of my AU version of him and Meta Knight accordingly. Anyways he's a baker and runs his own shop with his wife out of his home. He is very prideful on his cooking and won't allow any of family members to eat gross super market baked goods. Oh and Myra is just cursed to be shorter no matter what form she takes it seems. Serena seems quite amused with her daughter's antics. Meta Knight and Serena just having a nice nap and needed downtime of course. I often depict these two at ends but here is a rare moment of peace between them. Serena and a very...familiar looking butterfly? Oh dear this could bode something terrible. And finally random Gooey I accidently distored for your viewing pleasure.

HERO NAME: triad voide anon, Voide, didn't I see something over there?
CIVILIAN NAME: you'll find out if i decide to come off anon
PRONOUNS: he/they (no preference, uses both)
POWER(S): eldritch void magic, transformations, invisibility/becoming a shadow/vanishing from sight, distractions an delusions, can be hidden in plain sight or have big flash drama kid moments depending on the situation. time magic but in a 'he can buy himself 20 mins if he absolutely needs to' kind of way. mostly time is just weird around him, lengthening or shortening or distoring into odd things. this is sometimes helpful.
GUILD/AFFILIATION: no affiliations; not quite a vigilante, more of a lone wolf, but mostly working for good, or what working definition of good makes sense to the void. works in the background a lot to support other heroes bc they're very good at spying an overhearin stuff. can do recon an intel work that way.
CONNECTIONS: cares deeply for the other heroes an just wants to help them if they can. unsure if they'd count anyone as friends as their state of being makes the idea of friends a bit weird but they're very fond of them all regardless!
WHY YOU’RE HERE: he found the place by accident after he got eldritched; he was walking through the streets, trying to get a handle on the void spiralling through his body, when he found the speakeasy an the other heroes. the idea of being a superhero with his powers was a strange thing to sit with, because he'd never thought of himself as very heroic. he had a vision of what that looked like but it didn't look like the heroes he found at the speakeasy. that was what made him feel at home, an so he stayed when someone offered him a drink, an he mostly just lives there now. well, 'lives' is a weird way of saying it for a void creechur but, well. you know. it took him a while to work out how he could be heroic an help everyone else but once he figured that out, that's what he dedicated all his energy to.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: mostly looks like just some guy when out of uniform - hoodies, jeans, trainers, you'd never pick them out of a crowd an that's how they like it. as Voide, it's black trousers, leather knee-high boots with a flat, quiet heel, swishy half-circle waist-length cape with a gold trim, carnivale mask, an a black top hat. the mask's style, shape, an colors change depending on their mood an what they're trying to portray. far-too-ornate silver dagger is holstered to their waste but it isn't sharp an doesn't really do anything other than look pretty. they're extra but in a 'likes to hide as a shadow as a default' kind of way. build is 5ft 7, slightly chubby around the middle, white skin, face is unknown; void doesn't care about the container, it can do whatever it likes. if you see their face it's too late you are about to become void. current age is unknown, but was mid-30s before eldritchtification. the void is ageless.
ADDITIONAL NOTES: doesn't speak often but when he does, he speaks in triad verse (three lines, doesn't have to rhyme, doesn't have to be haiku, but the rhythm is important). this is also true of his writing style. always in groups of three lines. is sometimes just there. no one knows why. got their powers triggered after a deep dive into chaos magick that led them to look for a specific book, found it in one of those 'there when you need it, disappears once you leave' bookshops, where he found exactly what he was looking for an became whatever he is now. knows a lot of weird an obscure knowledge about things. hums to himself a lot as a comfort thing. what does he hum? whatever tune is the current earworm. has a void-decorated infinity cube on him as a fidget toy/meditation aid/method of accessing his void self.
welcome to the secret swords speakeasy, voide!

Complement to the description, because in art we can be subjective : the sun is so bright, distoring the colors of the sky and the water, and the rays so all incompassing (painted above the foreground) that the sun ressemble a big, bright explosion tinted with red, orange and blue. Furthermore, the rays seem so close, thanks to them being closer to us than the foreground, that they almost look like open arms ready to give a hug. It gives me feelings of wamth and welcome.

Destruction of Gaza City via Tsibi Geva
The preferred image. Prompt : An abstract painting of the destruction of Gaza City with the colors; black, brown and cream with bold curved black lines, distored bodies --v 6.0 --ar 3:2
This was derived from working with an artist and style selected by ChatGPT.

It wasn't all bad
Previously steve Harrington x reader Eddie Munson x reader
Summary: 🚩S4 spoilers🚩you where able to connect to the upsidedown through Visons but after some incidents at starcourt mall it left you sightless because of this you are left babysitting
Warning: poor writing cause this is the first thing im writing in months otherwise nothing...I think.
So This was meant to be part of a bigger Steve x reader turned Eddie x readef series i was planning but idk how well it'll do so i give you this small tidbit and if it does well who know i may write the whole series
~~~~~~~
It wasn't all bad.
You told yourself that constantly now.
You learned to live with it.
With the horrible truth that because of a gift you didn't want or ask for you where punished.
You still dreamt of that horrible moment. Trapped your own head with that thing as it took your vison.
It wasn't all bad. It was offten times beautiful.
You couldn't quite see people but instead figures and outlines of colors that made up the person in front of you. If they where close enough and you could almost make out a face.
Other times if you focused hard enough you could still go back to that black void and clearly see the scene infront of you. After Starcourt though that was to draining anymore.
It wasn't all bad.
You still had people who loved you and helped you.
You still had steve.
Though after summer he seemed to change and wanted something else but he would never tell you that. Until eventually the not telling you the truth got to be to much and you broke up with him.
It wasn't all bad.
"Why Don't you stay With Eddie this time?" Nancy suggested. "Are you serious? You want me to babysit while you guys go get to do all the fun cool stuff?"
"I wouldn't call it fun.." Robin muttered.
It wasn't all bad.
You kept repeating this to yourself over and over hoping some part of you believed it hoping it would stick. That it really wasn't. That your life wasn't constantly shattering piece after piece since that night ladt summer.
"C'mon Shes Got a point Y/n." You turned to steve in disbelief. "Steve Seriously?" Everyone went quiet, you could just barrelly make out their distored figured shifting uncomfortably infront of you. An aray of color you learned to identify as your friends.
"It would be easier to find Vecna If I came along you all know that!"
"Y/n we can't risk a repeat of last time if you try to find him. Who know wbat will happen to you this time."
"I don't have much else to lose Harrington." You snapped. "It's too dangerous!" He shot back. You bit the inside of your cheek, you knew exactly what he meant when it said it was "too dangerous"
"No..yea you guys are right...I'm just a liability I'll just get in the way of things."
"Y/n thats not what I said." You walked past him and the rest of the group back down the hill to the boat house. "You Didn't have too!"
You slammed the door shut slumping to the floor, you could hear the cars enginee start up and slowly fade out into the distance then it was all quiet for a moment.
It wasn't all bad.
"Hey...shouldn't you be out there ya know...kicking Vecnas ass.. Clearing my name?" You looked up in the direction of Eddies voice and offered him a simple smile.
The colors that made up Eddie in your mind wheren't something you where Quite used to.
Robin was a beautiful light blue, Nancy was a brilliant pink, Dustin a fun yellow, Steves was one that used to comfort you, a darker blue almost like how you remembered the night sky.
Eddies Was bright, loud, and warm. Red and orange swirling around eachother.
"The rest of the gangs got it." You said, he hummed and you watched the swirl of color move across you and slump beside you.
You could hear him drum his hands against his legs and make a popping sound with his mouth. "Soo...can I ask what happened to your...ya know...?"
You giggled slightly at his attempt to ask his question. "Remember those monster we told you about? The ones before Vecna?"
"Yea." He nodded.
"Well...I would get this like crazy vison from the monster, like I could see what the monster saw or where it was and I saw the people it hurt...eventually it caught me..."
"Shit..."
"Its not all bad though." You reassured.
"How so? I mean if it was me i would be pretty bummed. No offense!"
"I can still see somethings."
"Like what?"
"Well I can see you, kinda...I can see an outline of you and colors almost like...almost like your aura or someshit."
"Really!? What color am I?" You had both menuvered to face crisscross facing eachother to better engage in the convorsation.
He leaned forward excitedly anticipating your response. "Your kinda like...a fire..bright red and orange."
"Wicked..."
"See. Not all bad." You nudged him with your elbow."
You stayed together for hours talking about everything. You told him about your life gory details and all and he told you about his not so heroic or exciting life. You wished you could truly see him now instead of trying to match a face from freshman year of highschool.
It was now hours past the time Steve and the others had left you and you and eddie lied on the floor still talking half asleep.
"I'd like to hear your music sometime, I bet it's...metal as hell." You laughed at your poor attempt to say something cool your eyes half lided shut but you where happy to hear him laugh along.
"I'll be sure to make you a tape when this is all over." You hummed happily. He looked over at you seeing you dozing off beside him. He sat up quickly and pulled his jacket off and drapped it over you before laying back down beside you.
"Where have you been my whole life..." He muttered under his breath.
"I've always been here." You muttered back not opening your eyes. "Maybe you're the blind one Munson." He cracked a smile.
He swallowed thickly before speaking "Ya know when this whole thing is over we should-"
You sat up quickly. "Shhh shut up!" You snapped. "Ok well..."
"Eddie quiet!" Eddie finally zipped his lips you both turned to the window hearing noise from the main house. "Someones here!"
Eddie scrambled to the window to check and found Jason and his friends rummaging around outside. "Shhhit! Shit!"
"What!? Who is it!?"
"Our covers been blown!" He yelled in a hushed voice. He grabbed the walkie and began calling for back up from the others.
Radio silence. "Shit." Eddie went quiet again.
"Eddie? Eddie?"
"I've got an idea." He yanked the tarp off the boat and grabbed your arms pulling you up and helping you into the boat.
Your head began pounding and images crossed your mind. You could hear eddie paddeling and someone yelling in the distance.
You doubled over in pain holding your head.
"Y/n? Y/n? Hey..talk to me..." You felt eddie shaking your shoulder. "Keep rowing Eddie!" You yelled gripping your skull. "Shit."
"Stop saying that!"
"Freak get back here!" Jason yelled now closer than before. Images of a dark room and someone in the center of it flashed across your mind,along with images of boys swimming in the wated behind you. Everything was happening fast and all at once.
You cried out in pain before your entier surroundings changed and you stood in the dark room.
You panted heavily taking in the room. Familiar particals floated around in the air and slimy vines littered the floor. "No..no.."Eddie!? Eddie!!?..fuck..fuck...EDDIE!?" you you stopped screaming when you saw the thing in the center of the room.
You slowly stepped twoard it. The closer you got the more you made out what it was.
A human like creature, disgusting raw flesh slick and wet vines and arm attached to it suspending it in mid air.
You gulped as you stood beneath it staring up at its shut eyes. "Vecna..." As if he hear you his eyes snapped open and stared into yours. You yelped and fell backwards. Instead of hitting the floor you fell through darkness landing in water.
You coughed on impact. The previous room fading away and leaving you in a familiar dark void water covering the floor. You pushed yourself up on your elbows and above you a boy floated.
You stared in awe. "Hey!" You pushed yourself up slipping and splashing around as you did. "Hey!" You tried to reach him but as you moved twoard him you slowly sunk into the black water. You despretly tried to call to him. "Hey!! Wake up!"
But it was to late you watched the boys limbs snap in directions no human should bend, his jaw snap open in a perminate state of horror then his eyes...when they burts you let out an ear peircing scream and shut yours. Suddenly the darkness consumed your vison again and the water enveloped you. You couldn't breath or see anything you began to panic screaming and thrashing around.
Suddenly something gripped your waist. You let out another startled scream and tried to wriggle free but it tightened its grip on you and moved you through the water until you felt the cold air hit your face.
You still fought until you where dragged to shore. "Hey! hey! y/n! calm down! Clam down its me!" You finally proceeded what had pulled you from the water. Eddie cupped your face trying to ground you. You could just barrely make out the firey color of eddie infront of you.
"Eddie..." You lunged forward and hugged him. "God don't do that shit again man! I thought vecna got you!" He said gripping you tightly in his arms.
"What happened back there?" He asked.
You thought a moment, still playing back what you saw in your head as you tried to catch your breath.
Yea.
It wasn't all bad.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Lost Tracks of Time, Chapter 22
Summary: Mt. Coronet’s mystery dungeon become completely Distorted. What will Team Conductors find inside and at the top?
Author’s Note: To make up for the last two chapters being short and containing not much action, this chapter is a little bit longer. It’s totally not because I couldn’t figure out where to split it at a point that I was satisfied with. Enjoy the mega-chapter!
Thank you @furiouskettle! I never expected to turn the one-shot into a full story, and I’m glad I did, so I thank you for the inspiration!
(Shippers DNI)
The dungeon entrance to the frigid mountain closed behind Team Conductors once they all stepped through. The cold air did not dissipate, but it settled to a level where non-ice-type pokemon did not shiver. White light from the snow reflecting sunlight faded, and the thick dungeon atmosphere washed over them.
“Uhhhh.” Sneasler stared in disbelief.
"Well, this is a surprise," Ingo said.
“We are in Coronet Mountain… right?” Eelektross asked.
In previous dungeons with Distorted Floors, remnants of the original dungeon would still manifest. Snow and icy dungeons had Distorted Floors dusted with sparkling snow. The team waded through the waters of a Floor within a flooded dungeon. Grassy field dungeons had Floors with dirt grounds and grass growing. The members of Team Conductors knew what the Coronet Mountain mystery dungeon looked like normally, and its Distorted Floors looked no different beyond the darkness.
Not this time.
Several landmasses, with sizes ranging from the twin’s tent to the entire Pearl Guild area, floated around in the air. The topmost dirt held a strange pink hue, but when Emmet lifted his foot, he saw that the dirt underneath the first layer was deep blue. It matched the color of the ground below the islands, as they appeared as chunks pulled from some larger continent. Even the very platform Team Conductors stood on floated midair. Eelektross looked down and found more chunks of land floating in the dark blue, almost black void below them.
Sneasler stared up past the hundreds of mounds of land to the sky. The sky above was identical to the void far below them. The skylike void was not a solid dark blue but a spiral of deep ocean blue and black like a starless night sky. It encompassed the area and had no end in sight.
“What the hell,” Sneasler said. Her legs wanted to buckle.
“Emmet… you would be forgiven if we forgo our plan for this journey,” Ingo said. “This is not a typical dungeon, so neither will be our path.”
“I am Emmet. I can do it,” Emmet said.
“Hold the train, you two. How are we supposed to get through this place?!” Sneasler’s scream did not echo. She pointed to the island closest to them, which sported a gap of several meters. “These islands are literally floating!”
“I can carry you… a little? I can’t do it too much, but I can do it…” Eelektross said.
“While that works for our train, I now worry about other teams’ ability to traverse,” Ingo said. “Lord Braviary and possibly Noble Basculegion should have little issues, but…”
“I am making an unwise decision! Full speed ahead!” Emmet ran past the entire team, nearly avoiding tripping over his own feet again, and jumped.
“EMMET!” Eelektross rushed as fast as his old bones could move to save his trainer from an eternal fall like Sneasler did, but he stopped once he realized that Emmet floated through the air in the most incredible long jump he had ever seen.
Emmet arrived on the island but screwed up the landing, resulting in him falling on his butt.
“Excellent, Emmet!” Ingo clapped a little.
“Don’t encourage him! Tell us what you’re doing before you do something like that!” Sneasler said. She couldn't figure out if it was better or worse that Emmet admitted that he was doing something dangerous.
“Gravity is different. You didn’t notice?” Emmet asked.
To confirm Emmet’s claim, Ingo jumped. Without much force, he leaped over Sneasler’s head and landed on his feet. “How peculiar! We’ve never had alterations in gravity in Distorted Floors.”
“We’ve also never had an entire dungeon get Distorted,” Sneasler said. She gazed at the islands around them and made herself dizzy from turning so much. “Is… this entire area one floor?”
“That is a good question! Let us consult the maps,” Ingo said. He turned on the Arc Watch at the same time Emmet pulled out his own map.
Emmet stared at the piece of enchanted parchment in confusion. “…The map is broken,” he said.
“Wait, really?” Sneasler tried to imitate Emmet’s long jump technique, but she got a glimpse of the void below and came to an abrupt halt, kicking up red and blue dirt.
“Here you go.” Eelektross picked up Sneasler by the shoulders and lifted her to the island.
“How is the map “broken”, Emmet?” Ingo asked. He held onto Chandelure’s arms and let the pokemon carry him to the rest of the team.
Emmet turned the map to show it to Ingo and Sneasler. The maps pokemon rescuers used would show a legend which indicated items, stairs, location of allies, enemies, and floor number, among other things. The legend on Emmet’s map was gone. It was a piece of blank parchment, save for two small circles represented the two islands they stepped foot upon and some dots that represented the team members.
“That’s worrying,” Sneasler said. “It’s worked before, right?”
“Is the environment that much different?” Ingo asked. “…Or perhaps, given that we can see numerous islands below and above us, what if this dungeon transformed so greatly that there are no individual floors anymore?”
“What about your watch? You got a map on there, right?” Sneasler asked.
Ingo opened the map on his watch. Instead of displaying an image on the screen, white wireframes of light jumped from the watch and hovered above Ingo’s wrist. The wireframes depicted the two islands that he stood on. The icons that represented the members of the team – a black triangle, a white upside-down triangle, a gray diamond, a blue flame, and a yellow lightning bolt – all were on the second island.
“A 3D map…?” Eelektross asked. He hadn’t seen functional hologram technology in years, but he was more surprised to see it from a device supposedly sent from Arceus.
“That is verrrry useful,” Emmet said.
“Are you sure you wouldn’t like to use this watch?” Ingo asked.
“The watch is yours,” Emmet said. “We can still do our strategy.”
“Very well, if you insist. I have rollcall orbs to call you back if Chandelure and I find we need to reunite immediately. Do you have a method for an impromptu reunion?”
“Yes. I know Beat Up now.” To prove his claim, an icy whistle appeared from nowhere into Emmet’s hand. He blew into the whistle with a ‘CHOO CHOO’ that rang through everyone’s ears. Light enveloped the other members of Team Conductors. All of the pokemon vanished briefly before teleporting more closely around Emmet. This was specifically obvious with Eelektross and Chandelure, who found themselves huddled on the ground of the island. When everyone was present again, the whistle disappeared.
“What a technique! Bravo! I am surprised you didn’t learn that move sooner,” Ingo said.
“I thought Beat Up had a different effect,” Emmet said. Even though he couldn’t remember how to use attacking moves, he was thankful that he learned and could use something like that.
“Emmet, are you ready for our missions? I believe you will succeed in yours, but I still wish you luck,” Ingo said.
Emmet nodded. “I am Emmet. I am ready. I believe in you, too.”
With that, Team Conductors temporarily split into two parties. Ingo and Chandelure took off to an island to the left while Emmet, Sneasler, and Eelektross traveled to an island on the right.
***
Ingo and Chandelure made their way through the islands. Ingo kept his eye on his watch and observed one island appear after another as his and Emmet’s teams travelled. He also figured out how to make the map larger and turn it using his claws. It was surprisingly natural.
“Chandelure, what do you think will we find once we reach the dungeon’s terminus?” Ingo asked his silent partner. “Our goal is to rescue Giratina, and based on the Lake Guardian’s observations, Volo is at the station as well. But something about this situation unnerves me. I like seeing the path ahead of me and knowing our destination, no matter how far on the horizon it may be. The most pressing question for me is why Giratina needs rescuing. What do you think?”
Ingo paused for a response. Chandelure shrugged and simply smiled at him.
“…Chandelure, you have separation anxiety as well. Once we help Emmet with his, maybe I should work with you on yours next,” Ingo said. “You’ve been excellent without me on your train, after all.”
He paused again for a response, but he heard a voice calling for help.
“Forgive me, my Chandelure, but we must make a track change.” Ingo quickly mapped out a route to where he heard the voice and began island hopping. The rapid change in gravities called to mind his dizziness from his own gem cracking. Then he remembered Emmet’s ordeal. “I hope Emmet is doing well. He hasn’t used Beat Up yet, which tells me he, Sneasler, and Eelektross are operating well, which is excellent.”
The two pokemon found a group of three pokemon. A Bagon, a Trapinch, and a Sceptile sat in a circle in the center of a small island. Sceptile had a backpack, but the other two pokemon had nothing on them.
“Good day, everyone! My name is Ingo. Were you the ones calling for assistance?”
“Are you rescuing us?” Trapinch asked. Ingo recognized the little one’s voice as the one he heard.
Ingo began fidgeting with his sleeves. “Unfortunately, my train is not able to accept new passengers. For now, I recommend staying as you are and waiting for a proper rescue team.”
Sceptile looked at the weird Sneasel with confusion. He seemed to be a rescuer, so why not help them? “Do you know how long it’ll be?”
Ingo’s frown deepened for a second. It hurt to not be able to help them immediately, but he had no choice. “My apologies, but I do not have a definite timeframe or schedule for their arrival. For now, please remain at this station. How are your supplies? Do you have adequate food, water, and medicine?”
“I’m hungry…” Bagon said.
“…Do you have any food to spare, by chance? I’ve been rationing, and they’re not happy about it,” Sceptile said.
“That I can help with!” Ingo grabbed a big apple from his bag and offered it to the mother figure. “Will this be sufficient fuel?”
“Yes, plenty!” Sceptile accepted the apple. “Thank you, Ingo.”
“It is my pleasure.” Ingo bowed to the pokemon. “Please stay safe! Though I see no hostile pokemon in the immediate area, I implore you to remain vigilant. If we meet again, I hope to find you all in good health. Goodbye and good luck!”
The two groups waved goodbye as Chandelure carried Ingo off to continue his journey.
***
At first, Emmet was fine. But soon it got to the point where he couldn’t distinguish Ingo from the darkness, nor could he see Chandelure’s flames. Once they travelled a distance where he could no longer sense Chandelure, that was when his heart pumped harder.
“How are you doing, Emmet?” Eelektross asked.
“I am fine,” Emmet said. He jumped onto an island with a sharp slant. He planned to grab onto the side and climb up it, but he found it was unnecessary. He fell onto the flat side of the island and tumbled as though it was another piece of flat ground.
“Uh, you sure? Because you definitely don’t look fine,” Sneasler said. She waited for Eelektross to pick her up to follow him. As he carried her across the gap, she refused to look down and simply kept her eye on Emmet. Her and Eelektross’ eyes went wide as they fell onto the island, unprepared for the shift in gravity.
“Neither do you,” Emmet said.
“Excuse me for not liking navigating this place! I’m a climber, not a flyer!” Sneasler said as she stood back up.
“…You are afraid of heights?” Emmet asked.
“What? NO! I am the Noble of the Cliffs, and I am NOT afraid of heights!” Sneasler was placed next to Emmet. “But even if I was, look at this place! You can’t even see the bottom!”
Sneasler and Emmet both only had to turn their heads slightly to see the “bottom”. The dozens of islands below slowly swirled along with the background, making Sneasler dizzy and Emmet nauseous.
“Ingo’s right. This isn’t a mystery dungeon anymore,” Sneasler said. She and Emmet crawled backwards back to more solid ground and away from the edge to stand up. “Seriously, how are you doing?”
Emmet traced a claw around his bandaged gem. His heart pounded against the gem, making it ache along the cracks. “I’m… I… am Emmet.” He wanted to rip the gem off his chest. Sneasels probably didn’t need it like other pokemon. It just reminded him of his body’s issues as he tackled the ones in his mind.
Emmet took out the map again. Several circles appeared on the parchment. Three dots were clustered together and represented him, Sneasler, and Eelektross. Two dots were together on the other side of the map. That was Ingo, Emmet told himself. Ingo was still there. Ingo was in a different area of the dungeon, but he was not gone. Emmet told himself again and again that Ingo was okay and that he could focus on the upcoming battle against Volo. His anxieties were persistent, despite the efforts and the proof.
“Emmet, how many islands have we crossed…?” Eelektross asked. He hoped to take Emmet’s mind off his anxieties by reminding him of his innate curiosity.
“We have visited 19 islands,” Emmet said.
“Nineteen?” Sneasler snatched the map out of Emmet’s hands. “…Holy shit, yeah. We got through 19, and Ingo went through… ten? Huh.”
“And we haven’t seen any enemy pokemon yet…” Eelektross said.
“Well, uh, the lack of pokemon isn’t the weirdest thing. Look at that!” Sneasler pointed up at another island several meters above them. Even from the distance, the three can see a long waterfall going from one island to another.
“Is… is it diagonal?” Eelektross asked.
“Let’s find out.” Emmet scanned the area to figure out their path to their stop. He just wanted to make it through the dungeon. If he could successfully make it through, he would score a victory over his anxiety, and Emmet loved winning more than anything else.
Emmet, Sneasler, and Eelektross hopped from island to island. While the islands before were relatively parallel with each other, the masses of land became more slanted with each passing one until the trio were standing upside-down compared to their original positions.
“We have reached our stop,” Emmet said as he pointed up. Above the team was an island almost entirely covered by a pool of water. The waterfall was perpendicular to the island and ran through the air past the team’s own island.
“Is the waterfall right side-up… or are we upside down…?” Eelektross asked.
“We’re the ones upside down, ya geezer,” Sneasler asked. “The real question is, is the waterfall our one way forward?”
“Yes,” Emmet said. He laid on the ground and looked past the edge of their island. The waterfall cut straight through the air like a sink faucet’s stream. Emmet saw several islands at the bottom of the falls.
“Great. Hey, Eelektross, you gonna be able to carry us over there?” Sneasler asked.
“I doubt it… All this gravity shifting is making my bones hurt more than normal. I might be able to swim there,” Eelektross said.
Sneasler felt Emmet’s gaze at the side of her head. She turned and saw the Sneasel giving her a grin wider than his usual one. She groaned. “I know what you’re thinking, Emmet.”
“What am I thinking?” Emmet asked with feigned innocence.
“…Eelektross, can you learn Surf?” Sneasler asked.
“Nope. I can swim well, but I can’t learn the move… Also my joints are sooo bad now, I don’t think I can carry both of you…” Eelektross said the last sentence with an overdramatic tone foreign for his speech, hoping Sneasler would catch on to what he tried to suggest.
“…Okay, fine. Emmet, I’m cool with you using Surf,” Sneasler said.
“Thank you, Sneasler. I will do that,” Emmet said.
“But first, how do we get to that lake…?” Eelektross asked.
“Well, if gravity changes with each island, then…” Sneasler jumped as high as she could.
At the peak of her jump, she felt herself get pulled up instead of down. She soon found herself crashing into the body of water with a splash.
“Annnd now my basket is covered with weird distorted water. Great,” Sneasler said after she surfaced.
“ALLLL ABOARD!” Emmet said as he followed suit. Water from his impact splashed over Sneasler.
Within seconds, his coat and cap soaked up water. Horrid texture of wet clothes against the texture of wet fur was much worse than he thought it would be. Emmet could no longer hide his displeasure.
“Emmet?” Sneasler raised an eyebrow at her little brother. “You’re definitely not fine. Wanna talk?”
“I am Emmet. I… do not like wet clothes. I do not like my body. I do not like…” Instead of continuing the sentence, he gestured to the entire area they were in. It seemed like everything was battling him, and he couldn’t win.
“Uh, do you wanna take a break?” Sneasler asked. She might need to take her own suggestion to check on her supplies, but Emmet was her priority.
“We can afford no delays. All stops must be brief,” Emmet said.
“You’re not gonna crash and burn, right?” Sneasler asked. “Wanna call Ingo?”
“…No need. But we should exit this stop.”
“Watch out!” Eelektross said from above the two.
Sneasler and Emmet only had a moment to swim out of the way from Eelektross right before impact. Water flew off the island and formed orbs in the air.
Eelektross poked his head from the water. “Sorry…”
“Whatever.” Sneasler climbed onto Eelektross’ back and settled on his head. “Everyone ready?”
“Yes. All aboard!” It took a moment after he said that, but Emmet consciously remembered how to use Surf and found himself standing on the water like before. Emmet’s wide smile returned. His heart and his gem still ached, but using an attack again was a big step. Thus, he was able to keep up with Eelektross and Sneasler as they swam up the waterfall.
***
“How many pokemon have we visited by now?” Ingo asked Chandelure. “Thirty? It’s less than I expected, but perhaps more of the pokemon are on the first half of the dungeon? And we also don’t know how many pokemon Emmet has encountered. It’s all concerning, but I have faith that the Nobles and other rescue teams will succeed in their missions! And our destination is still on the horizon!”
Chandelure smiled at their trainer, but their momentary happiness at Ingo returning to form burned away when they detected a horrific presence in the area. Chandelure recognized the feeling as soul draining power of ghost pokemon, but this one was so much stronger than theirs.
And it was coming their way.
“Is something wr-?” Before Ingo could finish his question, Chandelure used Psychic to grab Ingo to avoid a Dragon Claw that destroyed the island they stood on.
Chandelure jumped from island to island, hardly fazed by the shifting gravities. Ingo was held in his pokemon’s arms and had difficulty seeing what Chandelure was running from. However, he felt a pressure around him that wanted to drain the energy from his soul.
The stranger used Aura Sphere. Chandelure would be immune to the fighting-type attack, but because they were carrying Ingo, they turned and countered the attack with a pure blast of Psychic.
This gave Ingo a good look at the threat. The pokemon made Regigigas look tiny. The pokemon had no limbs other than black wings that blended into the void surrounding the dungeon. They stared at him with glowing red eyes. They roared, which reverberated through Ingo’s body, and not even covering his ears alleviated the unyielding pressure in his head and soul.
Chandelure used Psychic to throw Ingo to an island several meters away.
“Chandelure?!” Ingo landed flat on his back on the tilted land mass. He watched Chandelure give him a worried but determined smile before facing the pokemon again and attacking with multiple Shadow Balls.
“Chandelure…I don’t think they can battle it and win. I need to call Emmet!” Ingo reached for his bag but stopped. “Wait. If I bring them here, I will be putting them in danger, which is not proper for a conductor or rescuer. Chandelure and I must stay here and provide a distraction while they reach the top.
“…No, Ingo. Chandelure and I cannot fend off this pokemon alone. We’re all a team, and a team must work together to reach our destination. They believe in me, and I believe in them!”
Ingo took out a rollcall orb and held it up to activate it. The orb shined harsh light and transformed into a flute.
“Ah, right. Emmet said the orb transformed into a flute when he used one – no, hold on, it was a whistle for Emmet. Why is mine a flute?” Ingo asked. “No matter. I can still call the others with this.”
Ingo fully planned on blowing into the flute for a simple train whistle sound (based on Emmet’s description of it, that is). Instead, his claws moved on their own, and he found himself playing a short but mysterious melody that moved and soothed his heart.
The flute disappeared in a flash of light. Another flash of light obscured Ingo’s and Chandelure’s visions. When the light cleared, Emmet, Sneasler, and Eelektross stood in front of them.
“Holy shit, that activated my fight-or-flight,” Sneasler said. Ingo perfectly played the old melody used to summon the Noble Ride Pokemon, and she did not expect the visceral response from her own body.
“Emmet!” Ingo said. “You seem to be doing well.”
“Yes. I am fine. That was not a train whistle,” Emmet said.
“Hey, why did you call us…?” Eelektross asked.
As though to answer, the gigantic pokemon roared again. Ingo and Emmet were too preoccupied bracing from the atrociously loud sound to notice the land beneath them shaking.
“Oh, hell no! Guys, that’s Giratina!” Sneasler scooped Ingo and Emmet into her basket and jumped right before the island crumbled into dust, seemingly from the pokemon’s command. She was caught by Chandelure’s Psychic.
“This is Giratina?!” Ingo asked. “…Emmet, are you alright?”
Emmet had curled up into a ball inside the basket. He covered his mouth and was shaking. He shook with utter fear… and fury. “It was Giratina…” he whispered.
“Emmet?” Sneasler barely heard him.
“It was Giratina. Giratina was in the time tunnel.” Emmet stared at Ingo. “Giratina tried to kill us.” He only saw the Almighty pokemon for a moment in his memories, but Emmet knew he was right. They were attacked by the Deep Shadow.
“…Oh” was all Ingo could say.
Psychic lost its hold on Sneasler, and the three pokemon fell onto an island with unnaturally lush foliage.
“There’s plants here, too?? What is with this dungeon?!” Sneasler asked.
“Emmet, please remain at your position,” Ingo said as he climbed out of Sneasler’s basket. “Sneasler, you know of Giratina. Do you have any insights that would help us fend them off?”
“NO! Also, aren’t we supposed to be rescuing Giratina? Why are they attacking us?!” Sneasler asked.
“…Good question. Chandelure!” Ingo shouted, which quickly got the attention of his pokemon. “Let’s regroup and strategize!”
Chandelure nodded, but they made one last Shadow Ball before they tried to retreat. Before impact, Giratina disappeared in a puff of smoke into the void. Chandelure felt something was off and tried to find the giant pokemon somewhere in the darkness.
“Stop... hiding!” Eelektross used Discharge without a target in sight. He knew a sneak attack when he saw it and fully expected that Giratina was hiding somewhere, waiting for the right moment. His lightning struck several islands, making water splash high into the air, foliage burn, and several rocks fly until they left an island’s gravity enough to float in space.
Eelektross’ effort was for naught. Giratina struck Chandelure from below them with Shadow Force. With a whip of their tail, Giratina threw Chandelure into the rest of Team Conductors. Sneasler caught the ghost in her arms, and Eelektross caught Sneasler before she felt off the island.
Chandelure fainted.
“Well, crap,” Sneasler said.
Ingo petted the side of his pokemon’s head. “You did well, my Chandelure. Thank you.”
“I… don’t think we can win…” Eelektross said. He slithered his body around the group as a shield. “I can help us run…” Eelektross bit down a shout as the wrong type of electricity travelled through his muscles. His old body was not meant to move and carry around so much weight in one day.
Giratina loomed over the team. Body twitched and writhed, but their head was stationary. Their glowing eyes pierced through them all.
“…Giratina, are you in pain?” Ingo asked. “We are Team Conductors. We are here to assist you!”
“I… am Emmet.” He lifted the lid off Sneasler’s basket. He didn’t agree with Ingo’s plan, but he saw that neither Ingo nor Sneasler or Eelektross were letting their guards down.
“And my name is Ingo.” Ingo watched the gargantuan pokemon, fully expecting a sudden attack. However, if he could negotiate with Giratina, they could avoid a battle with a high unfavorable outcome for them.
“…Your eyes are glowing. Is that normal?” Emmet asked. A quick glance to his brother let him know that Ingo thought what he was thinking.
"...No. No, that's not normal..." Sneasler felt something heavy sink in her stomach.
“…H… Help…!” Giratina’s voice surrounded the team and echoed through the Distorted Dungeon. Their spine straightened, then their body jerked around from red electricity. The Chained pokemon screamed, opened their mouth, and dove toward Emmet and Sneasler.
Sneasler quickly shifted Chandelure to hold onto their body with one arm so that she could Shadow Claw Giratina in the jaw. Simultaneously, Eelektross used Thunderbolt on the almighty pokemon. Giratina recoiled from the attacks, but they got what they needed.
Giratina held Emmet in their mouth.
“EMMET!” Sneasler and Eelektross shouted at the same time.
Eelektross flew and chased after Giratina. He hated leaving behind the others, but someone needed to keep up with Giratina and see where they were headed with Emmet. He couldn’t even attack with electric-type moves, lest Eelektross hurt his injured trainer as well.
“Hey, you forgot us!” Sneasler shouted at Eelektross. She looked at Ingo, who had closed his eyes and held the brim of his cap. “…Ingo?”
Ingo opened his eyes. “Emmet is not your passenger!” He took a moment to relearn Quick Attack and began island hopping. He used the momentum of each attack to carry him to higher islands. The last time he tried to use several Quick Attacks at once, he and Emmet both crashed from exhaustion. But his little brother was in grave danger!
Eelektross was chasing after Giratina. Giratina made no effort to get Eelektross off their trail, as the old pokemon had enough trouble keeping up with them.
Eelektross felt something small and sharp dig into his tail. “What the?!”
“My apologies, Eelektross, but I need to catch that train!” Ingo said as he climbed Eelektross’ body.
When he reached Eelektross’ head, he used Quick Attack in rapid succession. He barely had enough speed to grab Giratina’s tail with Poison Jab. Giratina whipped their tail to shake Ingo off, but Ingo’s grip held true.
“Giratina, please decouple Emmet! Allow us to assist you!” Ingo tried to replicate Sneasler’s technique and struck Giratina with Poison Jab after Poison Jab. Giratina’s movements made it difficult for him to strike as fast as Sneasler could, but he tried.
Emmet tried to remember how he used Ice Beam. He learned Beat up, he remembered Surf, surely he could remember how to make an Ice Beam or Dark Pulse or Snarl or anything. It did not help that he also focused on hanging onto the horns that hugged his body. While he did not want to find out where Giratina was taking him, he also did not want to fall into the void. Emmet was trapped.
Ingo predicted that Giratina was about to slam him into an island, so he used Quick Attack one last time to climb higher on Giratina’s body. Ingo dug into Giratina’s skin as the Almighty pokemon struck the island and turned it to dust with a single swing of their tail. Some of the rocks hit Ingo’s back, but he just dug in deeper.
Giratina suddenly turned to fly down. Ingo screamed as wind, dust, and water droplets from waterfalls rushed past his face. Islands moved away and made a clear flight path for the Almighty pokemon. Ingo swore he heard familiar voices calling his and Emmet’s names – Giratina flew so far down that they entered the lower “floors” Team Conductors skipped.
Giratina disappeared into smoke and left behind Ingo, who fell onto an upside-down island. Ingo looked around to see where Giratina would strike from.
But he could not have predicted Giratina reappearing right above his head. Ingo briefly saw Emmet’s own surprised face and him recoiling right before the full speed Shadow Force impact. Giratina destroyed the island, and the sheer speed let Ingo stay on Giratina’s mouth horns and next to Emmet for a moment. They flew up and up well past where the team first encountered Giratina together.
“Ingo, hold on!” Emmet said. “Don’t leave!”
Despite his brother’s command, Ingo did not have enough strength to dig into Giratina’s skin again. The moment passed, and Ingo fell off the behemoth.
“Ingo!” Emmet reached his hand out behind him as if it would help. He couldn’t even see where Ingo was going or if could land safety. Giratina didn’t care. Giratina wasn’t allowed to stop.
Giratina, and therefore Emmet, turned into darkness and dissipated into the void sky.
Ingo kept one hand on his cap as he fell. Despite the dire situation, he kept his gaze on his watch’s map. The white inverted triangle moved high above the watch. And then it vanished.
“All aboard!” Sneasler jumped from the side and caught Ingo in her arms. She hugged Ingo as tightly as possible with one arm as she held out the other to catch the side of an island. Instead, Eelektross flew down and caught Sneasler’s claw in the side of his body, making him yelp.
“Sneasler! Eelektross! Emmet is…!” Ingo’s voice cracked. He hugged Sneasler so tightly that his claws dug into her skin.
“Ow! Okay okay let’s regroup and then we can talk,” Sneasler said.
***
The remains of Team Conductors travelled to a large island to regroup and allow Eelektross to coil up and rest. Sneasler also finally got the chance to check on the items in her basket. Despite the abuse and swimming, the contents were dry. Even the Toxic Plate was untouched by water.
Ingo utilized Gaeric’s medicine to nurse Chandelure’s wounds. Though he knew he used the medicine right and Gaeric wrote instructions that mentioned that the pokemon would not revive immediately, he still worried since Chandelure’s flames did not start to return to full strength.
“You’ve been quiet. You’re scaring me, Ingo,” Sneasler said.
Ingo frowned more than he already was. His claw shook as he stroked Chandelure’s head.
“No, seriously, Ingo. Tell me what’s going on in your head,” Sneasler said.
“…Could I have done anything different?” Ingo asked.
“I doubt it…” Eelektross groaned. “…Are you blaming yourself for what happened to Emmet…?”
Ingo stopped petting Chandelure and fidgeted with his claws. “Well… I do wonder what would have occurred had I not used the rollcall orb. Perhaps it would have been better if-”
“I’m gonna stop you right there. No, it would not have been better if you were taken instead! Hell. No.” Sneasler pointed to the ground for emphasis.
“But it was my actions that directly led to Giratina being able to take him! I failed in protecting him!”
“So did I! Remember, Ingo? He was in my damn basket, and Giratina plucked him out like a berry! It’s not your fault, but if was anyone’s fault, it’s BOTH OF OURS!”
Ingo’s eyes widened as he stared as Sneasler and struggled for a response.
Chandelure’s flames grew. Their slowly opened their shining yellow eyes.
“Chandelure! I am glad to see you awake,” Ingo said. “Are you able to stand?”
Chandelure shook their head.
“Very well. Normally I would like us to rest fully before departure, but due to Emmet’s status, that is not an option,” Ingo said.
Chandelure tilted their head.
“Ah, you don’t know. Giratina is Chained and took Emmet. We believe that Emmet is at Spear Pillar because I can no longer detect him on my map.” Ingo pointed to his Arc Watch’s map. “There is also the chance he is not there, but… I only wish to consider it if we reach Spear Pillar and he is not at that station.”
“Hey… we’re in a Distorted area, right?” Eelektross asked. “In the past, when we left the floors, we got sent back to the beginning of the dungeon… What if we get to the end but get sent to the bottom of the mountain…?”
“Uh…” Sneasler did not think of that.
Neither did Ingo. “…We will reroute our train line if that situation comes to pass! For now, I implore us to depart. May I ask one of you to carry Chandelure while they recover?”
“…Okay, fine, I’ll do it,” Sneasler said. Because Chandelure did not fit in her basket, she settled for carrying. Chandelure’s arm provided good handles to grip them with. She swore that the pokemon’s flames got warmer once she picked them up but didn’t want to dwell on it.
“If everyone is ready, then we can depart at once.” Ingo pointed forward and to the island ground. “While I cannot fully forgive myself for my lapse in judgement, not matter how minor, it should be my duty to ensure Emmet’s safe return. Let's hurry onward!”
***
The trip to Spear Pillar was eerily quiet. There were much less pokemon as the team climbed the dungeon. The islands grew sparser, so Eelektross had to carry the rest of the team between large gaps of open air. Often, the only sounds were the rushing water of waterfalls that never heard of a concept called gravity.
Even Ingo, who preferred to talk about his thoughts and feelings, was mostly quiet, save for occasionally asking about the state of his passengers. The image of Giratina holding Emmet with their mouth horns would not leave his mind. Ingo know objectively that he should not blame himself for Emmet’s kidnapping, nor would it have been better for him to have been the victim instead. That type of thinking tore apart Emmet when Arceus summoned him, after all. Despite the facts, though, Ingo’s heart ached for not being able to save Emmet. Him suddenly losing the will to vocalize his feelings let them bounce around and refuse to leave his train of thought. At one point, he grazed a claw across both his gems to see if they cracked again. But no, it was just him.
But, finally, something on his watch caught his eye. They must have traveled through hundreds of islands, but five islands were added to the map simultaneously. And there was a blue cube on one of them. A blue square was the symbol used on normal maps to mark the stairs.
“My team, I think we reached the final floor,” Ingo said.
“Wait, really?!” Sneasler asked. She took a glance at Ingo’s holographic map and looked at where the stairs should be. She could barely see it, as the island was above them, but a white beam stretched into the void. The spiral of dark blues and almost blacks collected to the where the light beam touched the sky. “Oh crap, it’s a light beam. We’re gonna get sent back to the beginning!”
“Are you kidding…?” Eelektross asked.
Ingo’s heart sank. “…I would like to see the terminal for ourselves.”
Chandelure was back to consciousness and almost full strength, so they carried Sneasler up to the denoted island while Eelektross carried Ingo (which was less harsh on his joints than carrying Sneasler).
Ingo looked at his watch’s map and then at the blank area in front of him, as he could not see the beam. He stared at the blank area.
“Why? Why now?” Ingo’s fists clenched. “After journeying through a completely unfamiliar dungeon to the extent of us losing track of time, we have to make a round-trip to the origin when our mission is time-sensitive?! What if this detour causes such a delay that Emmet suffers serious harm or worse because of it?!”
“Uh, hey, Ingo…” Eelektross said. He wasn’t sure what to say after that.
“We’ll figure this out, got it? We will save Emmet!” Sneasler said.
Ingo sharply turned to talk back to Sneasler, but his rage melted when he saw the faces of his team. Chandelure hid behind Eelektross, who stared aghast at Ingo through his insomniscope. Sneasler didn’t cower like the other two, but she did glare him down in contempt. Her anger was at their situation, but Ingo assumed it was at him.
Ingo lowered the brim of his hat to cover his eyes. “…Forgive me for losing my composure.”
“No, I get it. It’s total shit.” Sneasler placed a hand on Ingo’s shoulder. “But I meant it. We’ll figure this out. We gotta, right?”
“Right…” Ingo said. He looked down at his watch again, and he frown softened from seeing something on the screen underneath the map. “Why does the Arc Watch say, ”Initializing Line Transfer”?”
As soon as Ingo finished reading the statement, the map zoomed to show the single island with the stairs icon. The blue wireframe cube icon projected itself onto the white light beam, revealing the light to the pokemon who did not see it previously. The cube split the light beam into several flat boxes of solid light and formed a set of stairs that led to the base of the void sky’s spiral. At the center of the spiral and top of the stairs, a white doorway appeared.
Sneasler’s mouth hanged open. “What just happened??”
“Did the watch just…?” Eelektross wasn’t sure how to complete the question.
“It appears that our round-trip to the beginning just became a one-way trip to Spear Pillar,” Ingo said in disbelief and relief. “Is… everyone ready for one last departure?”
“Absolutely,” Eelektross said, shaking off his confusion. “It’s time to help Emmet.”
Chandelure nodded at Ingo.
“You were just complaining about wasting time, and now you’re asking this?” Sneasler said.
“Well said! Then… Full speed ahead!” Ingo charged forward. Sneasler, Eelektross, and Chandelure followed suit.
***
Spear Pillar. When the Coronet Mountain mystery dungeon fell to Distortion, Spear Pillar stood in its gravitas underneath the spiraling dark sky. Rows of broken columns and shattered pedestals led the eyes of the team to those on the other end of the mighty ruins.
Three pokemon stood in front of a large granite stage to greet the rescue team. On the left was the Beheeyem, the one matching the pokemon in the Lake Trio’s vision. On the right was a Spiritomb wearing a blue and yellow hat on his keystone. Ingo got his Monster House Spine Chill just from looking at him.
In the middle was a Togekiss. Togekiss’ red and blue marks were desaturated to almost look gray, and her white body was pale, even for a Togekiss. Wrinkles marked her face. She wore a large golden four-point star like a hair accessory.
Behind them was Emmet. His feet were obscured by a pitch-black darkness, and two shadowy arms wrapped around his body. One of the arm’s hands tightly covered Emmet’s mouth. The sight turned Ingo’s heart to a steam engine.
“Hello, Team Conductors,” the Togekiss said. “It is a pleasure to finally properly meet you.”
“Greetings. My name is Ingo.” Despite sighting normal pleasantries, he could not be sincere about it. His dry delivery would be more akin to something Emmet would say.
“Ah yes, Ingo the pokemon rescuer and co-leader of Team Conductors,” Togekiss said. “And we have your co-leader Emmet right here. Ah, maybe I should use your proper titles. It is a pleasure to formally meet you both again, Subway Master Emmet and Subway Master and Warden Ingo.”
“Cut the crap! Give us Emmet back, Volo! You better not have harmed a single hair on his head or else!” Sneasler bared her teeth and prepared a Dire Claw.
The three pokemon shared confused glances at each other.
“You think one of us is Volo?” the Spiritomb asked.
“Is he… Are you not Volo?” Ingo pointed at Beheeyem.
“Me?” Beyeehem pointed to himself. “No… I’m not Volo. If that was the case, none of us would be here.”
“…Could you elaborate?” Ingo asked.
“Gladly. My name is Togekiss.” She bowed.
“I am Beheeyem.” The pokemon waved to the team.
“We are Spiritomb.” He tilted his head like he tried to bow.
“You may call us Team Wish,” Togekiss said. “You knew our trainer, Volo. We were all Volo’s pokemon. Our goal is to resurrect our late trainer.”
A few pictures of the bare bones of my Arcane DR script
Calling it a script might be a bit too much though, at the moment.
So, because I’m a procrastinator I’ve only managed to partially create the very basics of my shifting script for Arcane.
Anyways, as you can see I scripted for myself and my mother to have purple eye color. It has no connection to the Shimmer however. I’ll admit I simply scripted it cause I thought it looked cool without thinking about the plot.
Although my mind is tempted to make purple color have it’s own symbolism in the Undercity. Sorry Silco enjoyers but I personally despise the man. So, I like toying with the idea of Silco mocking or distoring the symbolism of this color through Shimmer. Even if I’m not entirely sure yet about if I’m going to erase the Shimmer as a whole in my DR or not.
Also I’m first shifting sometime before when the events of Act 1 were supposed to take place.
I had to take a day to finish the write up for my last walker in @leafdrake-haven‘s Fanwalker February, Pahandi! She’s only really appeared in a handful of things I’ve done and she’s probably the least developed of the 4. I don’t think wrote up is complete either, but I think it gets everything across.
additional art by @hazoret
Name: Pahandi Tulog
Colors: Bant (White – Blue – Green)
Age: Between 800-1400
Plane of Origin: Balatog
First Planeswalk: Shandalar
History:
Pahandi has never revealed much of her youth before sparking into a planeswalker. She carried many titles back home; healer, mystic, counselor, advisor, but she never told which one lead to her sparking. All anyone knows is that she set off one day on a pilgrimage to the First Tree and did not return for many years.
Pahandi had sparked on her journey, ascending to the godhood of planeswalkers of old. She used her new found gifts to continue her work across the planes of the multiverse. As she traveled, she began to learn of the horrors outside her home. Planeswalkers who abused their power, unthinkable monsters who consumed planes, machine monsters who spread and consume in the name of a dead god. While she did learn a great good for each evil she faced, she couldn’t help but fear at how fragile Balatog truly seemed now. When she finally returned home, she resolved to be its protector.
At first, she started combating hostile arriving planeswalkers directly, but even after creating a great avatar to fight by her side, she knew that was not enough. Using the spells she had learned from her travels she thought she could deter more from arriving, but found that only the most determined now came to her home. She began traveling the multiverse again, retracing her steps to learn the great spells she had once heard of and each time she would return home to erect and expand a great wall around it. However each spell added was not only a greater strain on the world, but another stone on precariously stack tower. Should she fall, so would it. After much deliberation, she came to the only decision she could think of. Secreting herself off into deep and warped part of the world, she sealed herself off in crystal at the heart of her spell so her body could be both a battery and anchor for it. There she would sleep in suspended animation, sleeping through the wars that shaped the Multiverse and the Mending, waking in the present times into a far different world.
Personality: Calm, collected, and decisive, Pahandi is rarely taken off guard. She exudes a tranquil aura and talks with a sagely wisdom that only comes with her hundreds of years of travel and meditation. However kind and caring she genuinely is, she can be emotionally distant from everyday people; she is sympathetic to others, but not completely empathetic. This comes mainly from her nomadic and solitary lifestyle. This leads to her biggest emotional problem being she tends to only think in terms of the big picture and can easily miss the personal details in things.
Powers and Magic: A scholar and a mystic, Pahandi has studied many schools of magic making it hard to really nail her down into one. She has worked as a healer, both physically and spiritually. She’s a practiced banisher, destroying evil spirits and removing planeswalkers from worlds. She can manipulate space and the elements, letting her run along walls and surfaces she shouldn’t be able to and can even move on water and air as if they were just as solid as stone. She’s a capable auramancer, animist, hieromancer, and mentalist.
She carries a long, hooked wooden staff that is as tall as she is. It’s her magical focus and let’s her channel even more powerful magic. With it, she can do something like eject a planeswalker of equal power from a plane with ease.
The last thing of note is that while she is on Balatog, the more powerful she is and the closer she is to it’s dimensionally distored part where she slumbered, the closer she is to her Oldwalker power level.
Character Themes:
“The Sacrifice” - Pahandi was willing to sacrifice everything for her home without a second thought. While it might not have been the perfect plan, it was her best option and she knew that it was a guarantee to keep it safe.
“The Great Sage” - Much like Catrina carried the reputation of being deadly and sometimes more of a force of nature than a person, Pahandi was known for her astuteness, her spirituality, and her wisdom. There are a few legends that have spawned from her travels on several planes and she was on good friends and associates among the other oldwalkers she met before she hid Balatog.
Notes and Asides:
Although I didn’t mean to have them mirror each other, because of their shared plane and culture, a lot of ways to describe what Pahandi is by going by what Halona isn’t. Where Halona is more of a scout/ranger/explorer, Pahandi’s roots are more shamanistic and mystical. While both have passions to learn and explore, Pahandi is much more studious and spiritual in her approach. Where Halona would be brash, courageous, and forward, Pahandi’s movements are careful and measured. Halona is a sprint. Pahandi is a dance.
While they haven’t met in story yet, Pahandi and Halona had a lot of inadvertent influence on each other. Pahandi’s binding and hiding of Balatog led to the aether storms that cause Halona to spark and Halona’s sparking and damaging of the binding set in motion Pahandi’s eventual reawakening.
Pahandi powers were inspired by a combination of pillowfort, tax, and control style decks. Grand Abolisher, Feroz’s Ban, Energy Field, and Aura of Silence.
A lot of Pahandi’s powers and what she has done can be seen in my Balatog posts.
Second to her Ban, her ability to walk on air was the second thing I thought of her being able to do. I’d imagine in and of itself, it’s not extremely impressive, but the fact that she can do it so effortlessly and naturally makes it startling. That combined with her staff, one of the key images I had of her was her running in the air, upside down and sideways to attack from such an odd angle, and hooking an opponent around the neck before violently and instantly ejecting (read exiling) from Balatog. I originally thought of this spell working like trying to force a planeswalker either to their homeplane or to the plane they are most familiar with. She would try to do this on Halona only to realize that one, her anti-magic kept stopping the spell, and two, even when the spell did get through, it didn’t work cause Balatog is her home as well.
#Pahandi#fanwalker february#I wouldn't be surprised if I actually forgot a few details about Pahandi#She's someone I've had in my head for years behind the scenes but never wrote anything down for
Examination of Anomalous World Experience (EAWE)
The EAWE is the companion interview to the EASE that focuses on the person's experiences with the world, rather than with the self. There are 6 domains: Space and objects, which deals with the person's experience with space and physical objects, with disorders including hallucinations, distortions of spatial relationships, and experiences of seeing the same object in multiple ways at the same time (called "contamination" on the Rorschach test); time and events, which deals with the person's experience with time, with disorders involving time speeding up or slowing down, time breaking up or becoming fragmented, and constant anticipation of something major about to happen; other persons, which deals with the person's experience of other people, with disorders including disruptions of the sense of ego boundaries with other people, referential ideation based on actions or words by other people, and loss or lack of the ability to naturally understand social situations and social cues leading to attempts to compensate through increased focus or concentration; language, which deals with reduced fluency and disruption of prose in one's native language, distortions in the person's expression which causes others to misunderstand the person, problems with concrete and abstract concepts, and distraction by individual words and phrases leading to the person having difficulty following what they are reading or listening to; atmosphere, which deals with the person's overall feeling-state of the world, with disorders including derealisation (particularly The Truman Show-style derealisation), objects no longer having normal meaning, hyper-awareness of things that normally stay in the background of awareness, apophanous mood, and a sense of radical changes in the very structure of the universe itself; and existential orientation, which deals with radical changes in a person's worldview, dealing with such things as rejecting society's conventions and rules, being extremely open to believing new ideas, and grandiosity which involves the person considering others to be inferior, like insects compared to them.
Domain 1: Space and objects
