Learning that fans hated Applejack and called her "boring" is crazyyy to me because I genuinely, unironically believe AJ's the most complex character in the main six.

Backstory-wise, she was born into a family of famers/blue collar workers who helped found the town she lives in. She grew up a habitual liar until she had the bad habit traumatized outta her. She lost both her parents and was orphaned at a young age, having to step up as her baby sister's mother figure. She's the only person in the main gang who's experienced this level of loss and grief (A Royal Problem reveals that AJ dreams about memories of being held by her parents as a baby). She moved to Manhattan to live with her wealthy family members, only to realize she'll never fit in or be accepted, even amongst her own family. The earlier seasons imply she and her family had money problems too (In The Ticket Master, AJ wants to go to the gala to earn money to buy new farm equipment and afford hip surgery for her grandma).

Personality-wise, she's a total people-pleaser/steamroller (with an occasional savior complex) who places her self worth on her independence and usefulness for other people, causing her to become a complete workaholic. In Applebuck Season, AJ stops taking care of herself because of her obsessive responsibilities for others and becomes completely dysfunctional. In Apple Family Reunion, AJ has a tearful breakdown because in she thinks she dishonored her family and tarnished her reputation as a potential leader –– an expectation and anxiety that's directly tied to her deceased parents, as shown in the episode's ending scene. In The Last Roundup, AJ abandons her family and friends out of shame because believes she failed them by not earning 1st place in a rodeo competition. She completely spirals emotionally when she isn't able to fulfill her duties toward others. Her need to be the best manifests in intense pride and competitiveness when others challenge her. And when her pride's broken, she cowers and physically hides herself.

Moreover, it's strongly implied that AJ has a deep-seated anger. The comics explore her ranting outbursts more. EQG also obviously has AJ yelling at and insulting Rarity in a jealous fit just to hurt her feelings (with a line that I could write a whole dissection on). And I'm certain I read in a post somewhere that in a Gameloft event, AJ's negative traits are listed as anger.

Subtextually, a lot of these flaws and anxieties can be (retroactively) linked to her parents' death, forcing her to grow up too quickly to become the adult/caregiver of the family (especially after her big brother becomes semiverbal). Notice how throughout the series, she's constantly acting as the "mom friend" of the group (despite everything, she manages to be the most emotionally mature of the bunch). Notice how AJ'll switch to a quieter, calmer tone when her friends are panicking and use soothing prompts and questions to talk them through their emotions/problems; something she'd definitely pick up while raising a child. Same with her stoicism and reluctance at crying or releasing emotions (something Pinkie explicitly points out). She also had a childhood relationship with Rara (which, if you were to give a queer reading, could easy be interpreted as her first 'aha' crush), who eventually left her life. (Interestingly enough, AJ also has an angry outburst with Rara for the same exact reasons as with EQG Rarity; jealous, upset that someone else is using and changing her). It's not hard to imagine an AJ with separation anxiety stemming from her mother and childhood friend/crush leaving. I'm also not above reading into AJ's relationship with her little sister (Y'all ever think about how AB never got to know her parents, even though she shares her father's colors and her mother's curly hair?).

AJ's stubbornness is a symptom of growing up too quickly as well. Who else to play with your baby sister when your brother goes nonverbal (not to discount Big Mac's role in raising AB)? Who else to wake up in the middle of the night to care for your crying baby sister when your grandma needs her rest? When you need to be 100% all the time for your family, you tend to become hard-stuck with a sense of moral superiority. You know what's best because you have to be your best because if you're aren't your best, then everything'll inevitably fall apart and it'll be your fault. And if you don't know what's best –– if you've been wrong the whole time –– that means you haven't been your best, which means you've failed the people who rely on you, which means you can't fulfill your role in the family/society, which makes you worthless . We've seen time and time again how this compulsive need to be right for the sake of others becomes self-destructive (Apple Family Reunion, Sound of Silence, all competitions against RD). We've seen in The Last Roundup how, when no longer at her best, AJ would rather remove herself from her community than confront them because she no longer feels of use to them.

But I guess it is kinda weird that AJ has "masculine" traits and isn't interested in men at all. It's totally justified that an aggressively straight, misogynistic male fandom would characterize her as a "boring background character." /s

I was watching baby reindeer and it struck me how real trauma binding in such situations can be. Which got me thinking .... Did Harry marry his stalker??

We know she orchestrated the meeting with Harry. We know the lowkey stalking-manifesting on her part may have started a couple of years in advance. So many credible theories that they "accidentally" kept meeting again and again, their circles just "coincidentally" coincided over the years.

Various youtubers and Tumblr bloggers have put together very credible evidence of them meeting in -

1. May 2016 in Toronto for an Invictus lunch that Cory was a chef for.

2. In May/June 2015, Soho House Istanbul inauguration. Lots of pictures of Meghan being there, meeting various celebs. And Harry supposedly also attended since he was in Istanbul, with Charles, for a royal engagement. No pictures, but rumour is he landed a day early for the Soho gig.

3. May/June 2014, art Basel Miami, where Meghan met up with Misha, who also introduced her to Eugenie. Early articles mentioned Mm and Misha meeting there, and Misha said this in the interview she did for her store launch that happened with the smartworks thing Meghan did in london 2019. That article has since been edited. There were also mentions of this in Meghan's PR she did pre-harry (I used to follow her superficially). It was also on Tig. I remember this but those articles have also gone now.

Harry was in Miami at that same time for his friends bachelors and pre-wedding party. This is the same thing he broke-up with cressida over, not buying her ticket even though their whole friend circle was going to Miami. (William joined the gang later in another city for the wedding, so no chance of him meeting her).

Anyway, at the time this was covered by some media reports which said Harry spent the evening chatting up a "tanned brunette" in a corner and spent the whole evening with her. There were no photos. It's quite a coincidence that both HnM attended the same party at the same venue, were in the same social circle (misha-eug-harrys aristo group).

So, what I am saying is that it seems that they kept meeting every year around the same time, and that Meghan (or Harry) may have thought this was the universe trying to push them together. So when Meghan found herself in London in June 2016, having already met Harry 2 months back in May, she took her chance and "surprised" him with a blind date. She may as well have deliberately put her pictures with Violet on social media in order to bait Harry.

I know it's far fetched but this kind of orchestrated serendipity isn't unheard of. It's a very teenage, high school behaviour but it does happen. And people fall for this all the time.

This theory also aligns with how and why Meghan suddenly pivoted towards a humanitarian PR in 2014. For Harry, it may have been a forgettable encounter, but for her it was the perfect opportunity.

So, what do you think? Is there any credibility to the rumours that Meghan targetting Harry, and then enmeshed him in some sort of trauma bond?

Old ask from May 9th

To the first question, I don't think so. I think if one wants to believe that Meghan stalked/targeted Harry for two years, one needs to also believe the rumor that Harry met Meghan multiple times before he remembered who she was. And personally, I don't have any evidence of that other than the conflicting stories of when they met and who set them up. Those aren't slam dunks.

I'm not discounting that it couldn't happen, it absolutely can and the internet is chockful of stories about real relationships like this. I just don't think it's likely - primarily because given how messy Meghan is, something like this would've leaked out by now.

I do think Meghan was social climbing and strategizing for a wealthier husband - remember, she was going after athletes (hockey boys post-Trevor, cheating on Cory with Rory McIlroy, sliding into Ashley Cole's DMs) because being a WAG was the ultimate life of luxury - when the opportunity to meet Harry dropped in her lap, and she took full advantage of it. Because to someone like Meghan who's chasing WAG dreams, the only thing better than being a WAG was being a princess.

Which is, I think, the real story: Meghan and Harry hooked up in May 2016 at the Toronto Invictus Dinner behind Cory's back and met up again a few weeks later when she was in London for Wimbledon. The Violet photos could very well have been bait (to catch Harry's attention and let him know she was in town) or a plant (to create a Hallmark meet-cute story to hide how they really met).

But to the second question, absolutely. Meghan definitely set things up so that Harry trauma-bonded to her and she did that with the Toronto break-in claims, which preyed on Harry's paranoia of paparazzi and security.

I couldn't get into Baby Reindeer. I tried several to watch it several times but it wasn't for me.

Theatres need to stop making youth discounts and access seats incompatible cause I have to buy a wheelchair space to go to the young Vic but the access price is more expensive than the u25 discount would be. The royal ballet releases 30 quid tickets on certain seats but I don't think they extend it to wheelchair seats which is really going to piss me off because the roh doesnt do access discounts unless you're on welfare which I'm not but like the royal ballet is really expensive I would like the 30 quid tickets please I'm 23 I qualify for them me being a wheelchair user shouldn't exempt me from them.

However hysterical and overwrought the coverage has been in places, it's been fun watching Prince Harry's confessions renew interest in some old Popbitch stories. One that's been picked up by a few places this week was "Hello Granny!"; the story we ran in 2019about a young royal who had an initially funny (but gradually grating) habit of unrolling friends' banknotes to greet the picture of the Queen before snorting their line. 

We were also pleased to get conformation right from the horse's mouth about Harry's legendary miserliness. 

One detail that's been plucked out is how Harry once used Meghan's credit card to buy a discount second-hand sofa. This squares with Chelsy Davy's experience of dating the young prince, as she would complain to friends that she generally had to pick up the tab whenever they went out on dates. This despite her being a dance student at the time, and him being a literal prince – yet Harry rarely even offered to go halves on so much as a cinema ticket. 

Lol, I think they are mixing up Chelsy and Cressida.

Südengland 2023 - Tag 11 Teil 1

Ladies and Gentlemen!

The King is in the House Castle. Das kann man gleich schon von weitem erkennen. Woran erkennt man jetzt genau, dass der König im Schloss anwesend ist? Natürlich am Royal Standard.

Die Royal Standard Flagge wird nur gehisst, wenn der Monarch tatsächlich auch anwesend ist. Ist der König nicht in Windsor anwesend, wird die Flagge des Union Jack gehisst, deren Größe je nach Windstärke ausgewählt wird.

Wir machen uns heute Morgen ebenfalls auf den Weg zum Castle - und zwar mit vorab gebuchten Online Tickets. Alle Versuche an der Kasse noch an Tickets zu gelangen scheiterten. Da geht so gut wie gar nichts.

Immerhin gibt es bei Online-Buchungen einen sagenhaften Discount: statt 30 £, sind es nur noch 28 £, die zu berappen sind. Was für ein Schnäppchen.

Wir parkten wieder unten an der Themse und marschierten den Berg hinauf, durch Windsor hindurch bis zum Einlass für Besucher. 

Unterwegs treffen wir auf einen traditionellen Bierkutscher, der noch mit Pferd & Wagen das Bier ausfährt. Zwei imposante Shire Horses sind eingespannt. Die sehen natürlich immer besonders beeindruckend aus.

Schon lange haben wir nicht mehr so oft und so lange bei einer Sehenswürdigkeit anstehen müssen.

Ich meine mich zu erinnern, dass es das letzte Mal im Tal der Könige war oder an den Pyramiden. Jedenfalls sind hier die Menschenschlangen mindestens genau so lang und die Sicherheitskontrollen auch umfangreich.

Hat man die Prozedur der Sicherheitskontrolle hinter sich gebracht, kann man das Schloss in eigener Zeiteinteilung besichtigen.

Wenn man die Eingangskontrolle überwunden hat, erwartet einen die nächste Schlange hinter dem St. George’s Gate. 

Auf der Moat Road befindet sich nämlich der “Multimedia Guide pick-up” für den den Audio-Guide, der im Eintrittspreis inbegriffen ist. 

Bei der Gelegenheit besuchen wir gleich den den Moat Room, der sich gleich nebendran befindet. 

Im Mittelpunkt stehen Bronzemodelle des Schlosses, die die Entwicklung des Schlosses von einer einfachen Festung zu einem der größten mittelalterlichen Paläste Europas zeigen.

Eine mit den regierenden Monarchen illustrierte Zeitleiste, entlang der Wände, bietet zusätzlichen Kontext für die britische Geschichte. 

Wir treten durch einen anderen Ausgang wieder hinaus, auf die Moat Road und gehen zum Middle Ward. 

Der Middle Ward gilt als das Herz von Windsor Castle mit seinem runden Steinturm, der auf einem großen Hügel steht und von seiner für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglichen Nordterrasse aus einen weitreichenden Panoramablick bietet. 

Der Hügel ist ungefähr 50 Fuß hoch und der Round Tower hat einen Durchmesser von 30 Fuß und dient derzeit als Aufbewahrungsort für das königliche Archiv. 

Östlich des Round Tower befindet sich das normannische Torhaus, das im 14. Jahrhundert erbaut wurde und über eine gewölbte Decke verfügt, die mit mittelalterlichen Schnitzereien verziert ist und als beeindruckender Eingang in den oberen Bezirk von Windsor Castle dient.

Alle paar Minuten donnert ein Flugzeug über unsere Köpfe hinweg. Windsor liegt direkt in der Einflugschneise von London-Heathrow, dem größten Flughafen Europas. 

Mit Fluglärm scheint die Queen also keine Probleme gehabt zu haben, sonst hätte sie vermutlich ein anderes Domizil gewählt – Auswahl genug hatte sie schließlich.

Auf Windsor verbrachte die Queen die meisten Wochenenden – es wurde in den letzten Jahren sogar zu ihrem Hauptwohnsitz, wo sie gern mit ihrem Lieblingspferd Emma Ausritte unternahm. Auch andere Staatsoberhäupter und Persönlichkeiten des öffentlichen Lebens gingen ein und aus.

Schloss Windsor wird nicht nur von der königlichen Familie bewohnt – mehr als 120 Menschen leben ganzjährig auf dem Schlossgelände. Zudem befinden sich hier auch die Büros der zahlreichen Angestellten.

In den fast 1000 Jahren seit der Erbauung wurde das Schloss von 39 aufeinanderfolgenden Monarchen bewohnt und renoviert. 775 Zimmer hat das Anwesen. Es gilt als das älteste und größte durchgängig bewohnte Schloss der Welt.

Wilhelm der Eroberer begann mit dem Bau von Schloss Windsor im Jahr 1070 als Teil seines Plans, einen Ring von Verteidigungsburgen um London zu errichten. 

Die Fertigstellung des Schlosses dauerte 12 Jahre und wurde aufgrund seiner Nähe zu London und als ehemaliges sächsisches Jagdrevier bald zu einem beliebten Aufenthaltsort für die königliche Familie.

Die Außenmauern befinden sich noch immer an derselben Stelle, an der sie ursprünglich errichtet wurden.

Heinrich I. ließ 1110 königliche Gemächer in der Burg errichten, und sein Nachfolger Heinrich II. fügte zwei weitere königliche Gemächer hinzu und baute auch den Bergfried zu dem Rundturm um, der heute immer noch existiert.

Windsor Castle ist vor allem eine Festung und hat sich im Laufe der Zeit als äußerst beständig erwiesen. In früheren Zeiten waren die Wachen stets in Alarmbereitschaft und vertrieben Eindringlinge mit kochendem Öl und schweren Steinen. Aufzeichnungen belegen, dass die Burg während des Baronenkrieges um 1200 eine zweimonatige Belagerung erfolgreich überstand.

Edward III. war der erste, der Windsor Castle 1357 zum Zentrum seines Hofes machte und große Summen für die Renovierung des Schlosses im gotischen Stil ausgab. 

Dadurch verfügt Schloss Windsor über die älteste funktionierende Küche des Landes, in der seit den Tagen Edwards III. um 1360 gekocht wird. Die Große Küche versorgt die Royals und Hunderte ihrer Gäste seit über 750 Jahren und hat seitdem 32 Monarchen gedient. Es wird angenommen, dass Prinz Albert 1890 den ersten Gasherd hierher brachte.

Nach dem Ende des Krieges im Jahr 1651 begann Karl II. 1660 mit der Restaurierung, um dem Schloss wieder zu seinem alten Glanz zu verhelfen. Das Anwesenheitszimmer der Königin, das Audienzzimmer der Königin und der Speisesaal des Königs sind einige der Räume in diesen Gemächern.

Auf dem Weg durch die prächtigen Staatsgemächer der Residenz können Besucher die Spuren jedes der 39 Monarchen im Schloss sehen. Eine der wichtigsten Ergänzungen waren die Deckengemälde von Antonio Verrio und die Schnitzereien des berühmten Grinling Gibbons, beide wurden auf Geheiß von König Karl II. ausgeführt.

Die Schlange vor dem Eingang zu den State Apartments zieht sich mehr als 100 Meter über die Nordterrassen. Unglaublich, diese Menschenmassen. 

Leider ist in den Innenräumen zudem überall striktes Fotografierverbot. Quasi an jeder Ecke ist ein Aufpasser positioniert, der nicht nur die Menschenmassen weiter scheucht, sondern auch jeden, der auch nur Ansatzweise sein Handy zücken will, sofort zurecht weist. 

Deshalb haben wir, um diesen Bericht zu bebildern, ein paar Fotos aus dem offiziellen Heft abfotografiert. Allerdings kann man die Schönheit der Exponate überhaupt nicht wiedergeben.

Leider hilft auch der Audioguide nicht weiter, denn man kommt überhaupt nicht dazu, die Erklärungen zu hören, sondern kann das erst draußen tun.

König Georg III. war der erste britische König aus dem Hause Hannover, der in England aufgewachsen und erzogen worden war. Er mochte sowohl das Schloss als auch die Menschen, die in seiner Umgebung lebten. 

Er war sehr daran interessiert, die Gemeinde kennenzulernen und ritt häufig durch die Landschaft von Windsor, um sich nach dem Wohlergehen seiner Pächter zu erkundigen. Dies brachte ihm den Spitznamen Farmer George ein. Leider verfiel er dem Wahnsinn und wurde in Windsor festgesetzt. 

Der älteste Sohn, der spätere König Georg IV., übernahm als Regent die Amtsgeschäfte. Als König Georg IV. gestaltete er schließlich das Äußere so um, wie es heute ist. Unter der Herrschaft von Königin Victoria wurde das Schloss zum Zentrum des britischen Hofes und erlebte seine Blütezeit.

Vor 1919 lautete der Nachname der königlichen Familie Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. In Anbetracht der Tatsache, dass die Assoziation mit einem deutschen Nachnamen den Briten während des Ersten Weltkriegs einen schlechten Ruf einbringen würde, wurde der Nachname der königlichen Familie in Windsor geändert. 

Das Schloss beherbergte die gesamte königliche Familie während des Zweiten Weltkriegs, da es nie bombardiert wurde. Windsor Castle wurde während des Zweiten Weltkriegs nicht angegriffen, weil Adolf Hitler das Schloss als seinen britischen Wohnsitz nutzen wollte. 

Die Royals nutzten die Situation und versteckten sich heimlich im Schloss. Die Mädchen, darunter auch die spätere Queen Elisabeth II., schliefen gelegentlich im Kerker mit gepanzerten Schlafzimmern, wo alle Fenster verdunkelt und die Kronleuchter entfernt wurden.

Im November 1992 kam es zu einer Tragödie, als in der Privatkapelle ein Feuer ausbrach, das sich 15 Stunden lang ausbreitete und die nordöstliche Ecke des Oberen Flügels zerstörte und dabei den Großen Empfangssaal und den Saal des Heiligen Georgs beschädigte. 

Nach umfangreichen Reparatur- und Renovierungsarbeiten, die satte 37 Millionen Pfund verschlangen, wurde das Schloss in seinem ursprünglichen Zustand wiederhergestellt, was 1997 abgeschlossen wurde.

Der Upper Ward ist von einer Mauer umgeben, die mehrere Gebäude umschließt, die ein zentrales Viereck bilden. In diesem Bereich von Windsor Castle befinden sich die State Apartments auf der Nordseite und die Privaträume der königlichen Familie auf der Südseite. Angrenzend an den Upper Ward befindet sich die North Terrace mit Blick auf die Themse.

Besucherführungen betreten die Staatsgemächer durch die Türen der Nordterrasse. Während der Regierungszeit von König Karl II. wurden die State Apartments renoviert, um mit den Räumen von Versailles in Frankreich mithalten zu können, die Decken wurden ursprünglich von Antonio Verrio bemalt und die dekorativen Schnitzereien von Grinling Gibbons. 

Heute sind die State Apartments mit Kunstwerken aus den Royal Collections ausgestattet, darunter Gemälde von Rembrandt und Rubens.

Heutzutage werden die meisten der Appartements von den Royals für Veranstaltungen ihrer Wohltätigkeitsorganisationen und anderer Einrichtungen genutzt.

Die große Treppe verfügt über eine Laternendecke aus Fachwerk, die viel Licht spendet, und einen Steinsockel, der aus vier Steinbögen besteht. Auf dem Treppenabsatz der Grand Staircase befindet sich eine große Marmorstatue von König George VI. von Francis Chantrey und mehrere kunstvoll arrangierte Militärwaffen, die an den Wänden hängen, und ausgestellte Rüstungen. 

Nach dem Abstieg über die Große Treppe betreten die Besucher das Große Vestibül mit einer wunderschönen Gipsfächer-Gewölbedecke, die mit Blättern und Engeln von Francis Bernasconi akzentuiert ist. Auf der linken Seite ist eine große Marmorstatue von Königin Victoria mit ihrem Collie namens Sharp abgebildet, die Statue ist von JE Boehm.

Die nächsten State Apartments wurden von Jeffry Wyatville während der Regierungszeit von König Charles II entworfen. Dieser Bereich von Windsor Castle wurde ursprünglich für Staatsbeamte und besuchende Würdenträger genutzt. Später wurden die Gästeunterkünfte auf die Südseite des Schlosses verlegt. Heute dürfen/müssen die Besucher der Windsor Castle Tour durch den Ante Throne Room und in den King's Drawing Room gehen. 

Während des 19. Jahrhunderts war der Salon des Königs als Rubenszimmer bekannt, weil Prinz Albert diesen Raum mit mehreren Gemälden des berühmten flämischen Barockmalers Peter Paul Rubens ausstattete, die Teil der ständigen königlichen Sammlung sind. 

Der Raum verfügt auch über eine kunstvolle Gipsdecke, die mit dem Wappen von König George IV und dem Strumpfbandstern verziert ist. Das geschnitzte Gesims und die getäfelten Türen wurden von Grinling Gibbons geschaffen und der Schornstein aus Siena-Marmor wurde von Wyatville entworfen. Die Erkerfenster im King's Drawing Room bieten den Besuchern einen großartigen Blick auf Eton auf der anderen Seite der Themse.

Die Zimmersuite des Königs wird vervollständigt durch das Bettgemach des Königs, das Ankleidezimmer des Königs, den Schrank des Königs und das Speisezimmer des Königs. Der erste von zwei bemerkenswerten Räumen ist King's Bed Chamber, dessen Wände mit rotem Damast bedeckt sind, eine Gipsdecke, die mit dem Stuart-Wappen geschmückt ist, ein geschnitztes Gesims von Gibbons und einen Kaminsims aus weißem Marmor von William Chambers, der ursprünglich in Buckingham verwendet wurde Haus. 

Das aufwändige Bett des französischen Holzarbeiters Georges Jacob ist mit grünen und violetten Stoffen drapiert, ähnlich denen, die verwendet wurden, als der französische Kaiser Napoleon III. 1855 zu einem Staatsbesuch kam. Die verschlungenen Initialen Napoleons und seiner Kaiserin Eugenie sind auf eine Stoffbahn am Fußende des Bettes gestickt.

Der zweite aufwändige Raum ist der Speisesaal des Königs, der ursprünglich von König Karl II. genutzt wurde, als er an bestimmten Wochentagen hier speiste. 

Aber im Gegensatz zu den anderen Räumen der Staatsgemächer, deren Decken von Verrio bemalt wurden, sind in Schloss Windsor nur drei erhalten, und dieses zeigt passenderweise ein Bankett der Götter mit prächtigen Obst-, Geflügel- und Fischmalereien. 

Wieder einmal sind die komplizierten Holzschnitzereien im Raum von Gibbons und zwei große Brüsseler Wandteppiche, die die Wappen von König William III und Queen Mary II an den Wänden zeigen, von Daniel Marot entworfen.

Zu den Räumen der Königin in den Prunkgemächern gehörten die Audienzkammer der Königin, die Anwesenheitskammer der Königin, die Wachkammer der Königin und schließlich der Ballsaal der Königin. 

Der Ballsaal der Königin ist der Ort, an dem während eines Staatsbesuchs in Schloss Windsor ausländische Staatsoberhäupter vom britischen Monarchen und dem Diplomatischen Korps empfangen werden. 

Dieser große Raum wurde von Wyatville für König William IV umfassend renoviert und die drei wunderschönen Kronleuchter aus Glas wurden ursprünglich von König George III in Auftrag gegeben. 

Ein weiterer Raum, den die Besucher auf der Tour durch Windsor Castle sehen können, ist die prächtige, 180 Fuß lange St. George's Hall. Als Wyatville in den 1820er Jahren diesen Teil von Windsor Castle renovierte, entschied er sich für eine Dekoration im gotischen Stil, bei der die Wände mit ausgestellten Militärwaffen und Rüstungen behangen waren. 

Die ursprüngliche Gipsdecke war wie Holzbalken gestaltet und mit dem Wappen der Ritter des Hosenbandordens geschmückt. Dann, einige Jahrhunderte später, im Jahr 1992, zerstörte das Feuer auf Schloss Windsor die Decke und die Ostwand der St. George's Hall vollständig. 

Ein neues Hammerbalkendach aus Eichenholz wurde gebaut und die Schilde der Ritter des Hosenbandordens wurden sorgfältig nachgebildet und an der neuen Decke neu positioniert. 

Eine weitere wichtige Ergänzung, die Teil der Restaurierung war, ist eine Reiterfigur am östlichen Ende der St. George's Hall, die als King's Champion bekannt ist. In den vergangenen Jahrhunderten ritt der King's Champion in das Krönungsbankett in der Westminster Hall und warf seinen Handschuh dreimal nieder, um jeden herauszufordern, der den neuen Monarchen verleugnen würde. Das letzte Mal, dass dies geschah, war bei der Krönung von König George IV. im Jahr 1821 .

Die Windsor Castle Tour geht weiter in die Semi-State Apartments, die ursprünglich die privaten Apartments waren, die vom Architekten Wyatville für König George IV geschaffen wurden. Dazu gehören: State Dining Room, der Grand Reception Room, der Garter Throne Room und die Waterloo Chamber. Leider wurden diese Räume durch das Feuer von 1992 schwer beschädigt, später vollständig restauriert und wurden von der Queen für offizielle Unterhaltungen genutzt, wenn sie in Windsor Castle residierte. 

Außergewöhnlich ist die Lantern Lobby, die sich auf dem ehemaligen Gelände der Privatkapelle von Königin Victoria befindet, und der einzigartige achteckige Raum liegt an der nordöstlichen Ecke des Schlosses zwischen der St. George's Hall und den Royal Family Apartments. 

Hier begann 1992 der verheerende Brand von Windsor Castle und eine Steintafel erinnert an das Ereignis und vermerkt das Datum des Abschlusses der fünfjährigen Restaurierung. Die ehemalige Kapelle wurde komplett entkernt und acht Eichensäulen stützen eine kunstvolle Gewölbedecke im gotischen Stil mit einer zentralen Laterne. Der eingelegte Boden ist aus englischem Marmor und zeigt den Garter Star in der Mitte des Raumes.

Der Garter Throne Room ist einer der geschichtsträchtigsten Räume in Windsor Castle und hier werden seit Jahrhunderten die neuen Ritter und Damen des Hosenbandordens vom britischen Monarchen vor ihrer Einsetzungszeremonie in der St. George's Chapel bestellt. 

Die zuvor bemalte Decke von Verrio wurde durch eine von Wyatville entworfene Gipsdecke ersetzt, die passenderweise die Insignien des Hosenbandordens trägt. An einem Ende des Raums befindet sich ein vergoldeter Baldachin aus dem späten 18. Jahrhundert, der mit wunderschönen Samtvorhängen ausgestattet ist. 

Auf einer erhöhten Plattform befindet sich ein Giltwood-Thron, der ursprünglich für die Krönung von Königin Elizabeth II. im Jahr 1953 angefertigt wurde. Im Garter Throne Room hängt ein Staatsporträt von James Gunn, das die Queen in ihren Krönungsgewändern zeigt.

Die Waterloo Chamber ist einer der größten Räume in Windsor Castle und ist der militärischen Niederlage von Napoleon Bonaparte in Waterloo im Jahr 1815 durch britische Streitkräfte gewidmet, die vom Herzog von Wellington angeführt wurden. 

Wyattville hatte den früheren Hornhof von König Edward III. mit einer Decke umgeben, die den Balken eines Schiffes ähnelte. Die getäfelten Wände wurden von Gringling Gibbons geschaffen. Der indische Teppich, der angeblich der größte nahtlose Teppich der Welt ist, wurde zum Gedenken an das Goldene Jubiläum von Königin Victoria geschaffen, und glücklicherweise konnte der riesige Teppich während des Brandes von 1992 gerettet werden, als über 50 Soldaten brauchten, um ihn aufzurollen und aus Schloss Windsor zu entfernen.

Heute finden in dem großen Saal Zeremonien statt, bei denen Mitglieder der Öffentlichkeit von einem Mitglied der königlichen Familie geehrt werden.

Der Saal ist mit fast 50 Gemälden britischer Könige geschmückt, darunter König Georg III. sowie dessen Sohn und Nachfolger Georg IV. und König Wilhelm IV.

König Georg IV. beauftragte Thomas Lawrence, Porträts der Monarchen, Staatsmänner und Militärkommandanten zu malen, die zum Sieg über Napoleon bei Waterloo beigetragen haben. 

Das große Porträt des 1. Herzogs von Wellington hängt an der Ostwand der Waterloo-Kammer, und weitere Porträts, die im Raum aufgehängt waren, waren Zar Alexander I. von Russland, König Wilhelm III. von Preußen und Kaiser Franz I. von Österreich, sowie Papst Pius VII als auch Kaiser Napoleon II.

In der Mitte der Waterloo-Kammer, die sich fast über die gesamte Länge des Raums erstreckt, befindet sich der massive Mahagoni-Esstisch, der 1846 von Thomas Dowbiggin geschaffen wurde. 

Jedes Jahr im Juni hielt Königin Elizabeth das Garter-Mittagessen für die Ritter und Damen des Ordens ab. Die prachtvollen Tische sind opulent mit vergoldetem Silber, Porzellangeschirr aus der historischen königlichen Sammlung und aufwendigen Blumendekorationen für die fünfzig bis sechzig geladenen Gäste gedeckt.

Das Schloss beherbergt auch die königliche Bibliothek und einige sehr berühmte Kunstwerke. Dazu gehören Eine alte Frau von Rembrandt (ca. 1609), Die Heilige Familie mit dem Heiligen Franziskus von Rubens (ca. 1630), Karl I. in drei Positionen von Van Dyck (ca. 1635) sowie zahlreiche Werke von Canaletto.

Auf Schloss Windsor können Besucher das größte und aufwändigste Miniaturpuppenhaus der Welt besichtigen, das nur für Königin Mary, Gemahlin von König Georg V., geschaffen wurde. 

Es befindet sich in den Staatsgemächern von Schloss Windsor und wurde in den 1920er Jahren von den berühmten Architekten Sir Edwin Lutyens und Gertrude Jekyll entworfen und von über 1500 Künstlern gestaltet. Es wurde 1924 fertiggestellt.

Die Schöpfer des Puppenhauses haben die Räume, darunter die königlichen Gemächer, den Salon und den Speisesaal, die Bibliothek und die Personalräume, sehr aufwendig gestaltet. Jedes Zimmer, jedes Buch und jedes Zubehörteil im Puppenhaus wurde mit viel Liebe zum Detail gestaltet.

Es verfügt über fließendes Warmwasser, Strom, Toiletten mit Wasserspülung, funktionierende Aufzüge und einen Weinkeller mit 1.200 Stücken, gefüllt mit echtem Wein und Bier. Außerdem verfügt es über eine Bibliothek im Taschenbuchformat mit handgeschriebenen Originalgeschichten von Autoren wie Rudyard Kipling und Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.  

Darüber hinaus ist das Puppenhaus mit feinem Porzellan und Silber, monogrammierter Bettwäsche und in einer Garage stehen sogar motorisierte  Miniaturautos, die tatsächlich funktionieren. 

Das Puppenhaus verfügt auch über einen versteckten Garten, der zum Vorschein kommt, wenn eine große Schublade unter dem Hauptgebäude geöffnet wird. Der Garten ist ein traditioneller englischer Garten mit Miniaturgrün und mini Gartengeräten.

Wir verlassen die State Apartments durch das Porzellanmuseum. Im Porzellanmuseum ist wunderschönes, einzigartiges Porzellan zu sehen, das Queen Mary ab 1920 in den Korridoren ausstellte. Mit Stücken aus aller Welt, darunter chinesische und japanische Kostbarkeiten aus dem 17. und frühen 18. Jahrhundert.

Auch Porzellan, das von britischen Königen wie Königin Victoria verwendet wurde, mit den entsprechenden Emblemen und Mustern, ist hier zu sehen, ebenso wie Porzellan, das für wichtige Anlässe verwendet wurde.
