Soshiro's Secret: Human Skully!

Just rambling about @sonicasura's simplest AU with Skully Hoshina.

I like the possible irony of Soshiro trying to keep secret the fact that Skully can turn into a human. Because it's the inverse of Kafka trying to keep secret the fact that he can turn into a Kaiju.

My perception of the DF as an anime main is that it's very strict and the higher-ups are skittish. For whatever reason, the DF allows Skully to exist as Soshiro's pet-thing as long as Soshiro can keep him under control. New developments will be "strictly monitored" and Skully's position dynamically reevaluated. Termination is always on the table. But ultimately, the DF only knows what it's told.

Soshiro wants to keep Skully and might not have much trouble doing the mental gymnastics to justify a little bit of treason. Skully is pretty valuable and Okonogi loves playing with studying him, too. She's in cahoots EZ. The main trouble is keeping the secret from the rest of the officers, some of whom might blab.

But anyway, I think it would be funny if Soshiro could piece together the puzzle of Kafka's secret before his reveal with one little moment. Skully wants to be more like his Papa and wants to stay in human form for a bit, no matter how much Soshiro begs him to turn back. Skully of course resembles both Kafka and Soshiro. This is somewhere quiet luckily enough. But unluckily, Kafka happens to come across them both.

Kafka doesn't know that's Skully at first (mainly because I need it for the joke), and here's an in-universe reason why: They're both in human form and Kafka's Fortitude Signal is suppressed as well as his Kaiju-Detector not as sensitive. Likewise, Skully's detector and Fortitude Signal are also suppressed. Skully can recognize Kafka because he's seen him before, but Kafka hasn't seen Skully in this human form. Skully is also in a resilient mood regardless of what Soshiro threatens him with.

So anyway, Kafka greets them while Soshiro is giving Skully a stern noogie, and Soshiro bristles like a frightened cat and backs off. Skully steps out and closer to Kafka, very smiley.

Soshiro mutters, "Mornin' Kafka. Nice weather, eh?" and tries to act natural. Dumbass! Since when do I talk about the weather?

Kafka gives a warm-hearted laugh and greets Skully with a pat on the head, "Ah, Vice-Captain! I didn't know you had a littl-...!" His expression changes when he notices that Skully as a lizard-tyke isn't with Soshiro, and he connects the dots.

Additionally, he starts hearing boss music.

Because when he looks up at Soshiro, the Vice-Captain is looking back with a grim expression. It's so easy to spot the family resemblance when they're right next to each other. And the face Kafka is making gives everything away.

Soshiro pins Kafka to a wall or maybe a tree, but at least doesn't pull out his blades right away. "So it's you!" he hisses, "You're the other half! Why I oughtta-!"

Umm, well anyway. I can't write fast/good and i'm kinda busy. Soshiro wouldn't kill him of course but might rough him up a bit for keeping such a big secret from him. Not sure what that scene looks like. Then they can maybe co-parent Skully for a bit if that's not too suspicious until the Raid.

Btw when someone says "don't talk to me like that, I don't know you" the normal thing to do is apologize for the perceived overfamiliarity and correct the behavior. Just in case anyone was wondering

I guess I haven't fully developed my opinions on Knack 2. My main complaints are the things it does away with from Knack 1.

It makes sense why Lucas would act like he does sometimes, but I still feel like the characters are messed with for the sake of a joke.

When did I become so judgemental? Hmm.

This was supposed to be completed before Halloween but life says otherwise so you guys get to see Ghost!Kafka in the works. (Please excuse the shadows as my current lighting sucks and I'm at my sister's house.) Guess you can say his mask is gonna cause me even further issues in the future, lol.

Plus I already started on him before Venom began to poke at my brain. Do expect a Venomized!Kafka in the future though. Someone has to show this himbo love amongst all the Soshiros and Narumis even if it's species swaps, lol.

Submission and notifications test

Hello all, this is DiscoKnack sending a submission from my main account to a group sideblog (of which I am currently the only admin/member). To note: you can only send submissions with your main, but you can receive them on sides and main. That's how tumblr do.

The goal here is to see how notifications from replies and reblogs are delivered to involved parties, as well as how they can be moderated.

The ultimate goal is to find a vehicle that shy persons can use to share fan stuff without backlash [D:)

When was the ability to reorder the dashboard tabs implemented?

I wonder why the first tab is locked in place. For me, it's the Following tab, so I'm pretty happy, but is the For You tab locked in place for newer accounts instead?

Tumblr Starter Packs sound cool. Will existing users be able to use and share those? Curious also how it might be abused...

🌟 New

The regular crab checkmarks and rainbow crab checkmarks from Crab Day are now available in TumblrMart!

We’ve expanded Tumblr Live to more countries! Check out this Staff post for the latest update.

For those of you seeing the experimental new desktop site layout, we’ve made the Account & Settings submenu behavior a little more predictable: they now stay in the state you put them in (expanded or collapsed) as you navigate within the site.

We’ve removed the per-blog submenus from the main navigation in the experimental new desktop site layout. Clicking a blog will still go straight to its blog page, where you’ll still find links to blog subpages like Queue and Drafts in the sidebar on the right.

We’re continuing to declutter the Account menu on web, and find better homes for some of the items there. This time, we’ve moved the Help Center link to be with the footer links, which you can find resting at the bottom of the sidebar (on the desktop layout) or at the bottom of the navigation drawer (on the mobile layout).

On web, the drag handles for reordering blogs are now visible regardless of whether or not you’re hovering the blog with your cursor. However, they are still hidden on devices that report a touchscreen as the primary pointing mechanism.

🛠 Fixed

There was a hiccup on the Following feed that was causing it to run out of posts yesterday, but that’s been fixed now. We’re still working on a few other bugs that could cause the Following feed to run out of posts erroneously.

Also on the Following feed, we noticed that we were filtering private posts from blogs you are a member of. We no longer do that. If you are a member of a blog, and a private post is published, you’ll see it on the Following feed.

Fixed an issue in the post editor on web that was causing media to re-upload when undoing/redoing certain changes.

Fixed a visual glitch on the activity page on web that was causing blog names to appear clipped at the bottom.

There was an issue in the iOS app that could cause a video to not start playing when opening it in the lightbox, the latest release (30.6.1) has a fix for this!

We’re aware that sometimes Spotify embeds are showing a “Not found” error, but may work if you try again. We’re investigating if this is an issue on our side or Spotify���s.

🌱 Upcoming

Over in @labs we’re working on an experimental feature that’ll let you create “packs” of blogs and tags to use as starter sets when inviting other people to Tumblr. (We need a better name for it, too.) More to come on the @labs blog!

Robo Knack

Might have to evaluate blurriness during movement, too...

Anyway, Robo Knack is kinda weird. Robo's size depends on Knack's size, but not exactly? And sometimes doesn't have fingers.

And especially weird is: Robo Knack can have two bars and be the same shape as Small Knack, or half the meter can be full, and they'll be the same shape as Little Knack, depending on the location they're in. And Knack can be Little Knack both times.. At the vent, there, if Robo has full health, they also have a full skirt/belt thing.
