Somebody has probably already said this, so feel free to ignore if so, but if you have Windows 10 Professional (I think it won't work with Windows Home because iirc that won't let you access the group policy editor), then: Type "group policy" into the windows search box and pick the Group Policy Editor. Go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Tools > Windows Components > OneDrive Double click on the options in the OneDrive policy folder and enable or disable them like in the screenshot here or otherwise as you please. The Group Policy Editor also lets you disable such things as Edge Browser (beware though that some of the edge options *might* fuck with xbox game pass for pc if you use that) or forced restarts for updates. Just go to the corresponding Windows Components folder and look through the options. Though for updates, make sure you don't accidentally cut yourself off from security updates entirely and end up out of date. I like to have them auto-download, but not notify me or auto-reboot, so I just install them when I see the little "shut down and install updates" option when I was going to shut down or reboot the computer anyway.
(yes it is completely stupid that Windows doesn't just let us uninstall crap, and that you can't do this with Windows Home, and etc. Still less annoying than Linux though.) Anyway, if you change Group Policy options, try to note down or remember that you have done so / what the original settings were. The changes are very easy to reverse if you need/want to later, but you've gotta remember what you changed in the first place, and if you change a lot that can get surprisingly hard to do. If you plan to change a lot, it's safest to just change a few things at a time, so you can make extra sure you don't accidentally break something you want (e.g. xbox game pass for pc) without knowing how to undo whatever broke it. I have not personally been this cautious about it at all but I assume some people are more patient than me, probably.

Feel free to recolor or edit! Yep! You can include the mesh, too! I have a very lax TOU. I don’t even think I should consider it a TOU. But feel free to check it out if you like reading the boring technical stuff.
A list of CC, Mods, Programs, and Resources I use a lot can be found HERE.
Questions, WCIFs, or anything?  Feel free to hit that Ask button! I don’t bite. ;o)
And as always, if you encounter any problems with my CC, let me know!
Much thanks and love go to the brilliant minds behind Sims 4 Studio, the wonderfully talented individuals whose CC and mods I use, and of course, Maxis! Otherwise, I don’t think this post would’ve ever existed. XD

Disabling Onedrive deleted most of my library because some motherfucker decided to make two identical looking "Pictures" folders in Win11, and make the Onedrive default. I have a (day old) backup, but it's still infuriating. I want my tech to do what I tell it to when I tell it to, none of this automatic "convenience" bullshit.

Okay, I'm going mad with frustration now.
I'm trying to play The Sims 4, and I can get the base game and DLCs to work (thank you Sims 4 Updater) and, until two days ago, I was able to use mods. Then yesterday, when I opened the game, suddenly there was a long list of errors. I followed advice and moved all my mods out and tested each of them until I found the culprit: Wick Whims.
When I moved all the other mods that didn't require WW back to the mods folder, my game no longer reads them. In fact, Curse Forge doesn't even detect them. I've uninstalled and reinstalled my game four times today! No luck.
For the record, I've disabled, uninstalled, and deleted OneDrive. My game is also on an external hard drive.
I can't get mods to work. Please help. It's like they aren't even there. Not a single one.

might be bit of a stretch but since i saw you use clip studio, would you know any workaround around brush lag in clip studio paint in large files?
my brushes start lagging at around 150px
hey! I happen to run into the same issue sometimes on large files, and it's likely due to RAM being overworked. Long story short you need to optimise your RAM, I'll detail a few things I do under the cut so it doesn't clog anyone's TL:
I work in super large files, all of which are 600dpi. Generally I'll look to lower the size of my files, so no timelapse recording on large files (this makes large files lag BADLY), merge layers as you go, lower your resolution (600 dpi is luxury and largely overkill lol I just do it out of habit, 300 is more than enough, 150 is good for drawing, personally I think 72 is too little esp if you have textured brushes). To keep the same effects and textures size on your brushes at smaller resolutions you can play around with the "enlarging ratio" (or something similar, it's "rapport d'agrandissement" in french) under the "textures" menu in your brush settings.
Tumblr media
Something SUPER important if you haven't done it already: under "performances" in the software's settings menu, you can also allow CSP to take up more RAM. Mine's at 90%, I can't remember what the default is but you can bring it up anyway. Shut down and restart the program to make the change effective.
Tumblr media
Otherwise, anything that can help you optimise your RAM: open your task manager (ctrl+shift+esc) and see what else is clogging it, and kill those softwares temporarily. Web browsers especially tend to take up a lot of RAM, Adobe softwares as well (it's why I switched to CSP in the first place) so if you're running Photoshop and CSP at the same time for instance, you might want to kill Ps. Same with OBS if you're streaming. Similarly, you might want to disable softwares opening when you start your computer (e.g OneDrive if you don't use it, Teams, Creative Cloud or whatever the fuck is launching on start and then passively taking up resources). Same with apps that just get minimised instead of completely shut down when you close the window (discord and Teams do this by default for instance, you can change it individually in the softwares' settings).
Last resort would be to simply increase your hardware RAM. I have 32GB which is super comfortable (and would be more comfortable if my canvases weren't 600 dpi hahaha), but I think 16GB would be enough to run CSP smoothly.
These aren't magic tricks unfortunately, I wish there was such thing, but a little optimisation here and there can go a long way. I'm absolutely not there myself so don't take my word for it, but anything you can do to free a little space on your RAM can make a little difference.

Thank you so much for answering my questions about how to run them! And so clearly, too!
You're an angel!
I have learning disabilities, so I really have trouble mentally digesting things like manuals and guides.
no worries, I hope it helped!
all in all it's not a difficult process, but there are some troubles people run into occasionally
from what I've seen people ask on the udt server, most importantly just don't install it into your downloads folder, or any folders that are being backed up through stuff like OneDrive or Google Drive or the like, it causes issues down the line

EVIL COMPUTER RANT
i really need an email platform that isn't owned by a predatory massive tech corp. I got an outlook account years ago to get away from gmail / google because having a microsoft email on a google managed phone and apple computer helped prevent any of those 3 from completely taking over my digital life... but now that i have a PC computer, microsoft email and microsoft apps the way it manipulates and steers what I want to do and how I do it is sooo disconcerting and i fucking i hate it. like i do NOT want to save all my files to a cloud that for one is obviously observing what i save and processing information about it (FUCKING ONEDRIVE SENDS NOTIFICATIONS BASED ON FILES THAT WERE SAVED ON A SPECIFIC DATE AND COMPILES IT WITH SIMILAR THEMED ONES AS SOME KIND OF FACEBOOK MEMORY-ESQUE NOSTALGIA FEATURE WHAT) and its soooooooo alarming that my PC will constantly try to force me to change back to the default settings of saving everything to onedrive automatically. after i disable syncing to one drive and change the default file save locations for things like microsoft word from one drive to my local disk IT WILL RANDOMLY CHANGE IT BACK WITHOUT ME ASKING TO. it will try to make me 'back up' (putting everything on onedrive) a part of the updating process, and i avoid updating for as long as i possibly can and it periodically is just like we won't let you do anything more until you update... it seemed like when i have all of my different computer things from a different company it keeps them from being able to automatically sync up without my consent and do creepy data things. with all these apps and devices unable to communicate with each other in these invisible ways it felt more like a computer is a tool i can use for my benefit and give money to company for that value rather than i'm a tool being used by a computer for a corporation's benefit

Onedrive is wild. I disabled it on all my devices, but still it will give me notifications of stories it made for me, after I asked it not to. From 2 years ago, when my love and I explored outdoors. And then without warning shows different photos from one year ago, when I was sexually assaulted.
Thanks, onedrive! I specifically asked for you to not do this 🥰🥰🥰

Oh, hey! A new struggle!
Recently my game started to disable custom content by default every time I launch it. It's really really inconvenient, because the game already loads ages with 20gb of cc and now I have to reload it every time, fix the settings that reset to low quality for some reason and re-add the custom cameras I have for the neighbourhood and CAS.
Thing is I didn't change anything. It started happening just randomly now and nothing seems to work. The folders are added as exceptions to the antivirus and onedrive is disabled (I'm on Windows 10). I'm not exactly sure what I'm supposed to do at this point.
Anyone has a similar issue?

🍰EP13 Jacket [Separated]🍰
The cute workout outfit from Growing Together made into a top.
More details and download links below under the cut~
Teen-Elder | Feminine Fashion Choice, Feminine Frame Only | All Occults| 16 swatches | Average polycount, all LODs | Disabled for Random and Situation | Tops–>Sweaters or Jackets | Base game-compatible | Custom CAS Thumbnail
⚠Known Issues: When paired with Masculine-framed bottoms, the texture from the jacket bleeds onto the upper hip area of the bottoms. I double-checked the UV maps, but I really couldn't find away to fix it. Well, it wasn't meanT to be a separated top so things tend to get funky, but yeah. I wanted to do a masc-framed version, but I couldn't even find the outfit under Feminine fashion for Masculine framed Sims. I'm not well-versed in converting stuff to the opposite frame. I'm sorry friends. :0(

Just had an absolute heart attack because I've got a massive catalogue of cast pics and so many fics that are partly finished saved on my laptop and therefore saved onto my OneDrive (that I don't know how to disable but at least I can access them on my phone or tablet without having to keep emailing shit back and forth) and I went looking for something super specific to find that OneDrive had just randomly deleted SO MUCH of it???? Like half of my photos/moodboards, various wips and completed fics, all sorts of shit that I need that I definitely did not delete (lowkey kind of a digital hoarder but that's not the point).
I mean thank god they were still in the recycle bin and I could just restore them all and I'm 90% sure that I haven't permanently lost anything but fucking hell that was not what I needed today ddjlkfjgldfkg

Hey so, before I do something that could potentially screw me over, is One Drive dependent on Microsoft Edge to function? Do I need to move all of my files off of One Drive before I uninstall Edge? Or am I safe to uninstall Edge to disable Copilot?
Microsoft *recommends* you use Edge with OneDrive, but to the best of my current knowledge, OneDrive is not reliant on any of Edge's functions and processes to work. Removing Edge will break any desktop widgets such as Weather, News etc.

How to Speed Up Your Windows 11 PC
1. Manage autostart programs-disable unnecessary startup program.
Here is how to stop a program from starting automatically
Select the Start  button, then select Settings  > Apps  > Startup .In the Startup Apps area, find the program you want to stop from starting automatically and set it to Off.
2. Clear memory via disk cleanup
To delete temporary files:
In the search box on the taskbar, type disk cleanup, and select Disk Cleanup from the list of results.
Select the drive you want to clean up, and then select OK.
Under Files to delete, select the file types to get rid of. To get a description of the file type, select it.
Select OK.
If you need to free up more space, you can also delete system files:
In Disk Cleanup, select Clean up system files.
Select the file types to get rid of. To get a description of the file type, select it.
Select OK.
3. Uninstall obsolete programs
Select the Start  button, then select Settings  > Apps.
Find the programs you don’t need, click on it and then select “uninstall”
4.  Turn off shadows, animations, and visual effects
In the Windows 11 search box, type sysdm.cpl, press Enter, and then click the sysdm.cpl icon. That launches the Control Panel’s System Properties dialog box. Click the Advanced tab and click Settings in the Performance section. That brings you to the Performance Options dialog box. (Make sure you’re on the Visual Effects tab of the dialog box.) You’ll see a varied list of animations and special effects.
These are the animations and special effects you’ll probably want to turn off, because they have the greatest effect on system performance:
Animate controls and elements inside windows
Animate windows when minimizing and maximizing
Animations in the taskbar
Fade or slide menus into view
Fade or slide ToolTips into view
Fade out menu items after clicking
Show shadows under windows
However, it’s a lot easier to just select the Adjust for best performance option at the top of the screen and click OK. Windows 11 will then turn off the effects that slow down your system.
5. Turn off background apps
Select the Start  button, then select Settings  > Apps .
Scroll to the entry of the background app you wish to adjust settings for.
Click on the three-dot icon and then on “Advanced options”.
In the “Background apps permissions” section, select “Never”.
6. Turn off app notifications
Select the Start  button, then select Settings  > System> Notifications, and move the slider to “Off”.
7. Make sure you have the latest updates for Windows and device driver
Select the Start  button, then select Settings  > Windows Update  > Check for updates.
Select the updates you want to install, then select Install.
Restart your PC and see if it seems to run better.
8. Check for low disk space and free up space
You may improve performance if you free some disk space on your PC.
To check for low disk space
Select the Start  button, then select Settings  > System  > Storage . Open Storage settings
Your drives will be listed in the Storage area. Note the amount of free space and total size for each drive.
9. Pause OneDrive Syncing
On the taskbar, look for OneDrive  near the notification area.
Select OneDrive  > Help & Settings  > Pause syncing, and then choose how long you want to pause syncing your files.
10.  Check for and remove viruses and malware
Running a system scan to find viruses and malware. If you’ve already installed a security suite such as Norton Security or McAfee LiveSafe, you can use that. Windows 11’s built-in anti-malware app, Windows Defender, also does a great job.
Just type Windows Defender in the search box, press Enter, and click Scan Now. Windows Defender will look for malware and remove any it finds.
11. Last but not the least , if your have a non-genuine Windows 11 on your computer , please activate it with a genuine Windows 11 Key from the Microsfot partner store keyingo.com
