Daniel Balavoine Part 1
Daniel Balavoine is a French singer-songwriter and musician.
As a young beginner at the end of the 1960s, he began by covering Bob Dylan but also hard rock, such as Deep Purple or Uriah Heep, before joining multiple local rock groups where he wrote his first compositions.
His musical career really began in 1973 when he decided to settle in Paris. Very inspired by the progressive rock of the time (especially Queen and Genesis) Daniel nevertheless found himself reduced to simple figuration for several years ( Balavoine served as a credited AND uncredited choir for other singers : Laurent Voulzy, Patrick Juvet and Alain Bashung )
During this slow period, Balavoine released his first albums which went rather unnoticed in the eyes of the public… and yet it was thanks to one of his songs (the only title of the last album having succeeded in breaking through) broadcast on television that Michel Berger, amazed, will find his Johnny Rockfort: :

The great success of the album Starmania (and later its short stage adaptation) made Daniel a celebrity thanks to three songs from the show :

But ESPECIALLY :

This song, written just for him, will be widely covered, with good … and often mediocre results :

I don't remember the last time a song left me silently crying and staring at my screen blindly, stunned and moved beyond words.
youtube
I'm (re)discovering Dimash's works, especially his most recent songs, and I am. I don't even have the words? Between Dimash's out of this world vocals and the pure emotion in his voice, the powerful lyrics and the cinematography and art of the video... Why does he not have a billion views?
WE'RE CHOOSING LIFE
"Dialogue, understanding and the widespread promotion of a culture of tolerance, acceptance of others and of living together peacefully would contribute significantly to reducing many economic, social, political and environmental problems that weigh so heavily on a large part of humanity"

"Its his voice. that's why it fucks me up. the man has like an eight octave range and he puts it to USE. the composition is fucking beautiful too. i spent all of last summer listening to this song on repeat. like manually pressing repeat on the youtube video for like 14 hours a day for 3 months. everytime i recommend the song to somebody i make them video call me so i can watch their reaction because thats how much it fucks people up, they always have a visible reaction"
Fetch the Bolt Cutters (Fiona Apple)
And you maim when you're on offense/But you kill when you're on defense/And you've got them all convinced/That you're the means and the end/All the VIPs and PYTs and wannabes/Afraid of not being your friend
"If you were ever a weird little girl who was on the outskirts of social circles and misstepped only to be immediately eaten alive by your peers this one is for you"

So my YouTube Music recap is already here, never mind there's an entire month left to the year, and the results are equal parts surprising and totally expected.
Like my sister said, "huh, someone has an obsession for Jackson Wang", and then "I'm not even surprised about Raleigh Ritchie, that's all you were listening this summer".
Well. Sorry for having good taste both in music and in men. And women too, my girl Faouzia is fantastic, and YouTube told me a little while ago I'm amongst the 0.5% who has listened to her the most. And Dana Salah is a queen.
Makes me laugh that in my top 5 artists, there's literally only one British artist, and the rest is Moroccan Canadian, Chinese, Kazakh and Dutch.
Anyway. Go listen to Jackson Wang. This man is an artist.
#youtube music#music recs#music recap#youtube music recap#music#music is life#68k minutes of music this year welp#no i don't have spotify no i am not planning on using spotify any time soon#something else that i love is that i literally do not have any single usamerican artist in my top 25#i have egyptian (tamer) french (egzod) i have palestinian (bshar murad) there's jim yosef and alan walker...#but zero usamerican until we reach twenty one pilots#anyway i can share my recap playlist if anyone's interested#rapha talks#jackson wang#raleigh ritchie#within temptation#faouzia#dimash kudaibergen#SoundCloud

KAZAKHSTAN SINGER DIMASH QUDAIBERGEN SANG TO 6000 FANS AT BUKIT JALIL
Dimash Qudaibergen, a Kazakhstan singer who is famous for his wide vocal range and the first runner-up to the “Singer 2017” held his show at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil on June 24 (Saturday). This was Dimash’s only show in Asia, and it successfully drew 6,000 fans to the concert.
The show was warmed up by three Malaysian singers. While the audience was applauding and shouting for Dimash excitedly, the artist showed up and kicked off the concert with “Golden” and “Zhalyn”. After that, he greeted the audience with “Assalamualaikum”.
As a multilingual person, Dimash not only thanked his fans in Kazakhstan and English, but he also expressed his gratitude in Malay. He began by saying “Selamat malam kawan-kawan dan tetamu sekalian” to the crowd before continuing with a series of thank-you speeches in Malay and wishing everyone to enjoy the performance.
Dimash interacted with his fans throughout the concert and blew kisses into the crowd several times. While receiving the confession from his fans, he responded “I love you too” which elicited even greater yells and cheers from the crowd. The audience also sang along when he was performing “Unforgettable Day”. Dimash was touched as he did not expect the fans would remember the lyrics, he then directed the audience to sing a section of the song in unison.
In the middle of the concert, the special guest, Dato Seri Siti Nurhaliza showed up. Dimash described the songstress as “one of the most beautiful voices in the world” and a “great singer” who is loved by her fans. He said it was his honour to invite Siti Nurhaliza to be his special guest.
Siti Nurhaliza said if she isn’t invited as the special guest of the concert, she would have bought a ticket to be one of the audience that night. She then performed her popular songs “Bukan Cinta Biasa” and “Nirmala”. However, Dimash and Siti Nurhaliza were not able to sing a duet as they did not have enough time to have a rehearsal, due to the death of Dimash’s grandfather recently.
Dimash also integrated Kazakh culture into the concert. Besides wearing traditional Kazakh costumes and playing the traditional Kazakh musical instruments himself, Dimash also invited many musicians to perform the Kazakh folk song "Daididau" on stage. The music and his voice matched perfectly, making the audience immersed in the music of his hometown.
Before concluding the concert, Dimash jumped off the stage to shake hands and interact with his fans while performing “Screaming”, making his fans excited. After that, he introduced his team to the audience, and ended the concert with “Let it be”.
The three-hour show was brought to you by ACO media and Kwan’s International, co-organized by Metalive World and AMM, and sponsored by Harman Kardon and VSing.
