Two Space Fortresses Face Off in Legend of the Galactic Heroes: The New Thesis - Collision 3rd Chapter Trailer

    A 110-second full trailer for the third and final chapter of Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These - Collision, the ongoing third season of the new anime adaptation of Yoshiki Tanaka's sci-fi novel series, is now streamed on YouTube. The trailer depicts the battle between the two giant space fortresses - the Galactic Empire's Geiersburg Fortress and the Free Planets Alliance's Iserlohn Fortress-, Reinhard holding the late Kircheis' hair on his chest, and Yang's frustration at the protracted hearing.

    Following the 12-episode first season in 2018 and the 12-episode second season in 2019, the three-chapter third season Collision has been screened in Japanese theaters for a limited time of three weeks. The first chapter was released on March 4, 2022, the second chapter has been screened in theaters since April 1, and the third chapter will follow on May 13.

  The first four espisodes of the third season (episode 25-28) have been available on Crunchyroll to its members in North America, United Kingdom and Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, Nordic Countries and Latin America

昨日の諸行。 銀河英雄伝説DNTの劇場版第二章を観に行く。 そしてその後に立呑屋たきおかで生ビールとモツ煮と筍煮をいただく。 まぁ朝飯がてらに映画前に珍珍軒のチャーハンを食べてるんだが...。 立呑屋では隣に女性が来て慣れた様子でヒラメ刺身でホッピーを流し込む女性でした。中(焼酎)を二度もお替わりしてホッピー1本で3杯という強者なお姉さんでした。 自分は珍しくスーパードライの生ビールでしたが、ちょいと味が変わってから初めてのスーパードライの生ビールは割と嫌いじゃないかもしれない😋 その後アメ横をぶらぶらと買い物散策...。 そしてなんとなくお腹も空いてきてしまい、千代田線に乗るために湯島に向かう途中のカレー屋のデリーにてカシミールカレー🍛 何度か来たこともあったが初カシミールカレー。 いつもはデリーカレーだったが今回は辛いカシミール🍛 辛かった〜🌶😅 でも美味かった〜😋 ただ辛いだけじゃなく旨味もあるからスイスイ飲み込みました‼️(カレーは飲み物‼️) 銀英伝DNTの方は...また来月中旬に第三章が公開！また来月にも上野に来る予定がある感じです〜😁 好きな映画と立呑みは単独行動が楽っすね〰︎😃 #銀河英雄伝説dieneuethese #たきおか #デリーカシミールカレー (上野) https://www.instagram.com/p/CcBqGzEhSZP/?utm_medium=tumblr

I think you misunderstood the idea of this “reboot”. The first episode said clearly what was to be said. And you clearly don’t understand the difference between a remake and a reboot. And about ppl who started it before watching the original.. well rip. I feel bad for them but it cannot be helped. Yes i will agree about the character designs.. strictly Reuntal, Alex (tho i like this design too lol), Reinhard and Oberstein. I do humbly believe this reboot is doing great.

...I’m sorry, what? What am I misunderstanding?

1. You’re referring to the OVA as “the original”... You do realize that there’s an actual novel series out there that the OVA is an adaptation of, along with two manga series, an independent movie, and a bunch of stage adaptations including musicals... right? 

2. I completely understand the difference between a remake and a reboot. I’m not sure what point you were trying to make there.

3. In case you thought my problem is that DNT is not enough like the OVA, rest assured: my problem is that it’s too much like the OVA... or rather, it’s trying to be like the OVA, except it’s created by people who don’t really understand what made the OVA - hell, the source material itself - work. That Rosenritter introduction story is ample example of that - it’s the kind of thing that would never ever work in the setting of LoGH, the kind of story that people who have no experience writing a story like LoGH and don’t understand the characters themselves, would write. (Same with how they’re handling Reinhard, which is so far another huge sour spot for me.) 

What I was complaining about in my post is that the pacing of DNT is fucking it up. It’s slow with no good reason, spending precious time on more or less inconsequential things, or things that, in the long run, are not as important as making viewers get a better understanding of the world, the politics of the world, and the cast would be... never mind getting on with the damn story, considering that this series is only 12 episodes with another 12 episodes’ worth of movies coming up sometime later, and that’s most likely going to be it as far as this new LoGH anime goes. This pacing means that this adaptation is not only not going to be anywhere near complete - it’s never going to touch the part of the story where it gets really good and interesting, and where one of LoGH’s main strengths, the cast, really comes into play. It’s deeply disappointing to me that there’s this great story and great cast, and so many people are never going to see most of it just because the DNT staff decided to pointlessly ape the OVA and go reeeeal sloooooowwwwwww instead of perhaps cutting shit here and there, but at least getting somewhere, or at least getting original or creative and giving some more screentime to important characters (other than Yang, Reinhard and Kircheis) that viewers are not going to see much of otherwise, because the anime will never reach the point in the story where they really shine.

(Digression: I’ve been saying this for a while now but there’s this misconception out there that a LoGH adaptation needs to be slow just because the OVA was slow. It. Doesn’t. Need. To. Be. LoGH the novel is pretty damn tightly written. It doesn’t meander or take pointless detours - unlike DNT. The OVA had its own concept of adapting the novel, and to understand why they went with that and why it worked, you also have to also understand its business model and the differences in anime consumption in those times. Times are very different now.)

4. Also, to make it worse, the slow pacing and uninspired adapting (broken up with uninspired and/or downright terrible original additions) means that to me DNT is just... boring. It’s taking a thing that I’ve consumed so many times before, and it does absolutely nothing noteworthy with it. When the only reason I keep watching a LoGH adaptation is the seiyuu (although I wonder what’s going to happen with Kircheis now, with poor Umehara’s condition) and not even all of those are worth listening to (because ugh, Suwabe Junichi is terrible, Miyano Mamoru utterly fails as Reinhard, and while I love Miki Shinichirou he’s doing nothing to prove that he’s not miscast as Schönkopf), well, that’s not a sign of an adaptation that is “doing great”, at least as far as I’m concerned. 

And seriously, what the fuck is going on with Reuenthal’s character design. He looks terrible and I’m starting to worry that the looks will influence the seiyuu’s acting for the worse.

But if you like DNT enjoy it, I'm not going to stop you. Have fun with it, and ignore this old fan who was hoping against hope for an interesting new anime adaptation and is disappointed that this isn’t it.
