Sure, he needs patience, but the rhythmic movements and easy-to-follow patterns do a number on calming him when he's getting agitated or nervous. He has the option of choosing fabrics/fibres that soothe his skin and is able to make pretty garments or even those small stuffed animals!

Also, scrapbooking in particular could help him order his thoughts. Glueing all those different patterned pieces of fabric, using different textures and writing with soft pencils or using patterns from sewing journals and passages or lines from books that he liked? That shit just relaxes him. And these cutesy stickers of course

I consider pretty funny how the first impression you get from Ruki's past it's like "oh he was just an aristocrat who abused of those below him, so when he found his father killed himself and her mother ran away with the person she was having an affair with he was beaten up by the servants and sent basically to a place where everyone despised him because of being an spoiled child before" and to think of it and talking with a friend about this... It is really surprising that Yuma could actually get to at least tolerate Ruki those times, because as someone who literally took part in some kind of resistance against the aristocrats, It should have been a hard pill to shallow knowing that you are uniting forces with someone who literally used to abuse other people of lower class just for fun. Even though I think this is more complex and adds a really interesting layer of emotions and conflicted principles between Ruki and Yuma, which makes the whole Mukami dynamic feel really alive.
