Personally, I can’t yet stop drooling over the amazing Eco friendly wedding that we recently witnessed. Dia Mirza and Vaibhav Rekhi tied the knot in an intimate and the most amazingly environmentally friendly way. And that got us thinking into how we as event planners can provide the most unique options to our clients to make the greatest day of their lives an eco friendly one too.

One of the trademarks of the modern indian weddings is that they are becoming very personal. It’s almost like every wedding has its own personality. Green weddings have a personality that gives picturesque rustic vibes.

There are a lot of ways in which we can plan a sustainable wedding for a couple. A Green Wedding is what we would like to call it. Without wasting much of your time we head to these beautiful unique alternatives to avoid the waste that usually happens in weddings.

● Welcoming the guests with a handwritten chalkboard sign or a welcome message written on a jute cloth with ropes would make for a perfect entrance for them.

● Flowers for decor are no doubt the most beautiful hack but wouldn’t it be better to keep sustainability in mind and replace them with potted flowers or plants that could later be used at homes or be sown into your gardens. This way you don’t have to forgo the blooms.

● Pick an eco friendly venue. The best in that category, is the place you have spent your childhood in. your home makes for a perfect venue keeping in mind a green wedding during these times when we are all still fighting the pandemic.

● If you aren’t too materialistic, consider keeping a charity registry as part of your wedding. Your guests can donate to a cause as your wedding gift.

● Reduce food waste by opting for plated dinners instead of buffets. Else you can also talk to the caterer about how to use the leftovers.

● Going for eco friendly invitations. The best idea in the category would be to go for e-invites or the ones that are printed on the recycled paper. Reusable paper can also be turned into beautiful hangings and jewellery that in turn would put a “char chand” to the decor.

● We assume you have all sorts of favours to thank the people who made it to the wedding to bless you with their presence while you take the vows. Well providing them gifts made of seeds, saplings, plantable paper greetings,etc in the reusable jute bags would be a green alternative.

● Another astounding idea would be to use eco-friendly vessels. For example using rented stemware instead of glassware which makes your wedding look more elegant. Replacing paper napkins with rented linens, straws with the reusable stainless steel ones and many more extraordinary and unique alternatives.

● Did you know you could make cocktail/mocktail glasses with jelly?? Well I didn’t so this was new for me , apparently flavoured gelatin powder is mixed in water and the mixture is then refridgerated in moulds to shape them as glasses. Ahaan!! Now that makes the wedding more fun. Edible cutlery can also be made from wheat flour, cornflour, soybean flour and water.

● Using dry palm tree leaves or ferns and painting them with the color theme is another cost saving eco friendly idea that results in an eye-catching decor.

● As a part of the celebration of your big day, you can treat mother nature by planting trees. I am sure your guests would be honoured to have witnessed the same.

● Using party poppers confetti is becoming outdated. What’s more in trend is using fresh flowers to shower on the couple and then donating the same to NGOs that use them to make incense sticks and herbal colors.

Dia Mirza is a Bollywood actress famous for films like Thappad and Rehna Hai Tere Dil Me; she got married on the 15th of February, Monday, to a businessman Vaibhav Rekhi in an intimate wedding ceremony. The couple took vows for life in Mumbai’s Bandra area, where Vaibhav resides.

They first came out in the open together after their wedding ceremony and interacted with the media waiting outside their house since the ceremonies started. Reports have it that Vaibhav’s daughter from his first marriage was also attending Dia and Vaibhav’s wedding ceremony. On the other hand, Bollywood actress Dia Mirza was earlier married to a businessman named Sahil Sanga. The couple separated their ways in 2019 after five years of marriage.

According to the reports, Dia Mirza and Vaibhav were in a live-in relationship when the nationwide lockdown was implied due to the world’s COVID-19 outbreak. Though their relationship was kept a secret, the rumors were already dwelling from last year about their togetherness.
