Part 1
The podcast that I listened to was Beyond the gap figure: The reality of battling for a pay rise as a Black woman (attached above).
The podcast was an interview with Ashanti Bentil- Dhue, CEO and Founder of Good Soul Leaders. She was a part of a well-known organization, where you'd would start at a certain base salary and as your work progressed so did your pay. Ashanti's work was always of high-performance surpassing everyone in the office. She aspired to get higher up positions and would turn in applications for them. Although she was always denied the opportunity to become anything more than her actual position. She had a white manager, who she became really close with. They were both so much alike yet so different. He as well as Ashanti were so confused on why her applications were always denied. I mean she did have all the forms necessary for it to be approved. When she realized that she wasn't getting anywhere there she began to look at other organizations where they offered her 15£ more. The head of department always had an understatement of Ashanti. because she was never quite good enough as a young black woman to be given a promotion. One day the head of department was changed, so Ashanti actually had come in before anyone else. She saw the new head of department and greeted her by introducing herself. Afterwards she (the head of department) said that Ashanti was a bit too forward and might have taken her greeting as a threat. Everyone at the office knew who Ashanti was, her name was very well known. Ashanti says that this whole situation left a short-term impact on her... it knocked her confidence because she had baggage behind her. She had to prove herself to others to stay and succeed and her new job. Before ending the podcast, Ashanti gave two pieces of advice.
You have to be willing to take a forensic eye to your processes and the reality of your culture when it comes to development talent and having pay conversations.
2. Listen: When the data and insight come, be vulnerable enough to question who you have in these roles. Who is overseeing this process? Ask, are proactively intentions developing our talent across the board? You will have the return investment.
Part 2:
" Where is the love?" by Black Eyed Peas.
The song is about many global issues like violence, racism, war, etc. Towards the ending of the song, it suggests to listeners to spread love amongst each other to make a change for the betterment of society.

Editor's word: The names of the dad or mum and the son had been modified at their request to guard their identification and privateness.Dec. 28, 2023 -- Lawrence McCarthy, a Texas-based physician, is wanting ahead to seeing his 26-year-old son, Sam, in the course of the holidays. Sam, who's been residing in one other state and hasn't been dwelling for a lot of months, has an alcohol use dysfunction and has additionally been a frequent person of marijuana. McCarthy, who requested that his actual identify not be used for this text, says that he appears ahead to seeing his son, however he has a backside line. “I would want for him to be working his personal restoration program and never utilizing. I have never seen him for a very long time, and I do not know if he is nonetheless dedicated to his restoration. However even when he is utilizing, I am nonetheless keen to see him -- so long as he does not use at my home and he is sober when he is right here.”McCarthy arrived at this method after in depth work in a dad or mum restoration group, which not solely gave him assist but additionally helped him develop and cling to boundaries. “I do not know the way I might have navigated this case with out the group," he says. Sadly, many dad and mom are navigating this tough state of affairs alone. A brand new on-line platform, Restoration Schooling and Utilized Studying (REAL), has been launched to handle the wants of those dad and mom. “We're a complete, evidence-based on-line instructional platform that features a course and sources in addition to entry to a group the place different dad and mom of children with substance abuse points are asking the identical questions,” says REAL's Chief Medical Officer Eric Collins, MD. New Useful resourceCollins joined REAL as a result of he knew dad and mom wanted “entry to extra data, assist, and group as they assist their adolescent and younger grownup youngster work towards restoration.”Laurie Dhue, the chief model officer of REAL, has been in restoration, sober from alcohol and medicines, for 16 years. Previous to her work within the restoration area, Dhue was an award-winning nationwide information anchor who hosted exhibits on three main cable information networks. Dhue was nonetheless a nationwide information anchor when it turned identified that she had a substance use downside. “The world discovered that I had a difficulty with alcohol and medicines and my anonymity was damaged publicly,” she stories. “I believed my life was over and at first; I felt stigma and disgrace. However telling my story publicly was what finally led me to leaving the information enterprise and entering into the restoration group full-time and led me to hitch REAL.” Dhue, who is nearly 54, says her substance use began in school. “I drank alcoholically and abused cocaine till age 37,” she says. “My consuming and drugging received worse after I left school and I drank on a regular basis, not solely in the course of the holidays.”In these days, “there have been few sources and no web. Dad and mom weren't as conscious again then as they're now. However even now, dad and mom are sometimes in the dead of night and really feel remoted and stigmatized. I am certain this useful resource might have been very useful to my dad and mom if such a factor had existed.”You Are Not Alone The REAL platform consists of 4 elements:An 18-module course that gives training about facets of parenting, dependancy, and navigating the problems that come upA library of sources that's regularly up to date and used within the courseworkA calendar of occasions – stay weekly workshops during which dad and mom can discuss to consultants, who present solutions to their questionsGroup, which permits contributors to attach with others in comparable conditions.Dhue entered a 12-step sober group, Alcoholics Nameless. “It saved my life. Dad and mom will discover consolation on our platform, realizing they don't seem to be the one ones going by way of this, and discover connection and group," she says.
The approaches introduced on their platform are “constant and applicable, and anybody within the 12-step world would respect and acknowledge them,” Collins says. However the platform additionally makes use of different approaches that enchantment to individuals who do not mandatory resonate with the 12-step method, together with evidence-based psychotherapies resembling cognitive-behavioral remedy (CBT).The great platform additionally gives details about medicines to cut back danger of overdose and to reverse overdoses. Pre-Vacation Conversations“The vacations are a festive time. For folks with substance use issues, holidays might be an excuse to drink and use medicine,” Collins says. Children coming dwelling from school might proceed their heavy alcohol or drug use, whereas these getting back from rehab facilities might meet up with former “consuming buddies.”“Talk your values and interact in downside fixing earlier than the vacations begin, since one ounce of prevention is value a pound of remedy,” he advises dad and mom. Initiating these conversations might be difficult, however “kids need these conversations, even when they act like they do not need them.” The REAL course encourages dad and mom “to rehearse the conversations with their companions earlier than planning to have a dialog with their youngsters. You get higher at doing issues the extra occasions you apply.” It is a “advanced course of,” he warns, and youngsters “may get offended.” However practising the conversations means that you can take care of their anger as properly.Setting BoundariesMcCarthy says that efficient conversations come finest from dad and mom with clear boundaries. “Do I need to see my son? If that's the case, do I've wholesome boundaries to guard me? Am I working a program of restoration to heal my very own points and work with any difficulties which will come up earlier than and through his go to? Do I've an influence exterior myself to succeed in out to, and am I a part of a gaggle of different dad and mom in comparable conditions who're discovering psychological, emotional, and non secular therapeutic by way of a 12-step program like Al-Anon?”If the reply to those questions is “sure,” that does not imply it is going to be straightforward, however it's a lot simpler. “I can talk to my son that I would like him to come back over however that he must be sober, respectful, and sincere when he is right here," McCarthy says. Boosting Your Kid's Possibilities of SobrietyOne query that has come up among the many households in McCarthy's restoration group is whether or not alcohol ought to be served in the course of the holidays if the recovering youngster is visiting, or if there ought to even be alcohol in the home. “Each household is totally different,” he observes. “However essentially the most nurturing and supportive factor that I've discovered is to not have alcohol in the home when somebody with substance use points is coming over.”This can be tough to perform, particularly if different visitors need to carry alcohol to your meals and in addition entails setting boundaries. “Inform your visitors you have got an alcohol-free dwelling and they should respect that.”He advises avoiding doubtlessly “triggering matters of dialog throughout household get-togethers, like politics or faith, or triggering matters particular to your loved ones which may evoke disagreeable reminiscences or previous conflicts when the recovering adolescent or younger grownup is round.”If relations need to have interaction in these discussions, McCarthy suggests going into one other room or space of the home. For those who're a part of a restoration group or REAL, do not hesitate to succeed in out. This can be a time when dad and mom should be there for one another for emotional assist and sensible strategies. Clear boundaries, open conversations, and a useful assist system can provide the finest probability to have holidays that result in household bonding and set the groundwork for ongoing therapeutic sooner or later.

Khayaal (Intro)
[Verse 1]
Yeah, band kamre me aas-paas koi nahi
Main dhue ke inn baadlo me tujhko talaash karun
Teri yaad me hum raat saari soye nahi
Aur tere peeche main khud ko kitna barbaad karun?
Aankhein laal huyi choor-choor nashe ne
Nahi kisi ka lihaaz, khada apne zawal par hun
Apne haathon gala ghonte apne shaunk ka
Main lagun jaise maut, jahan sach main kamaal ka hun
Beiwajah, kin gunahon ki tu de…
