💚GREEN HEART If you were Lucy, which suitor would you have chosen?
Arthur. He is kind, loyal, he is not afraid to cry, he can see through your masking, he likes tennis, the outdoors and travelling, will never tell you to smile more, will avenge your death... Sure he's rich but the other two are as well.
🖤BLACK HEART What's your favourite Dracula ship?
The Harkers, who have me in a chokehold. Runner-ups include Van Helsing/Seward, Mina/Lucy, Polycula variations (e.g Jonathan/Mina/Quincey, Lucy/Suitors, and more)
🕸️COBWEB Which scene in Dracula scared you most?
I'll say disturbed because I have a hard time getting scared while reading, but Jonathan almost getting hypnotized and right away witnessing the mother's agony, the First Mate's death, Mina finding Lucy at the graveyard, Lucy's final attack, Vampire Lucy's death, and Mina's attack all made me stare from the terror they evoked.
🔮CRYSTAL BALL Share one thing you think happens after the end of the novel.
There are a few things, but the first thing that comes to mind is that for a while, at least the first year, they won't be okay. There are tons of things to deal with and process for each of them, and I think that's where their fire-forged bond comes into play, so none of them will end up falling apart, like how Jack and Mina tend to conceal and fall to despair. Another reason why I think Quincey isn't born that year yet (but if he is, it's going to be extra intense and challenging).
✍️WRITING HAND If you could change one thing about Dracula, what would it be?
There's a few things, but right now I wish for more "filler". I know why it's written that way, but I'd have liked entries that aren't about the mystery and hunt. So for example private moments between the Harkers in Varna, descriptions of how each of the crew said goodbye to each other before their separation for the final hunt, or entries by Arthur talking about his thoughts and feelings or relationships after an event would not have moved the plot or tell us anything new about a vampire, but I Would Have Liked To See It. Arhtur entries in general, for example, I want to know what he was about to tell Seward when he found Renfield dead but stopped himself. What did they do right after Quincey died?
For favorite animals, I've answered here, the Transylvanian wolves. Thank you!

"Really? I..I dont see why! You...You are my ideal muse." She softly admits, her nose scrunching as she hid her face in his arm for a bit. He smelled quite nice outside of things but it didnt help her nerves to admit that. "Maybe I can give you...lessons on how to...to draw." Her speech slowly came together, like a song that was restored back to its full life. She could feel her nerves calming and that alone gave her some comfort.
Now Renelle was soft spoken and mousy due to some bullying during her early years. The girls would make fun of her soft voice and often make jokes about how she couldnt yell, so she opted to stay quiet and to herself. She hated to be made to feel small despite her soft spoken nature, so for him to make her feel comfortable, it was enough for her.
"I can imagine...Someone who you are wed too...coming up and giving you something then disappearing just as...quickly. It was too much for me.." She admits, gently squeezing his arm before releasing it, opting to hold his hands instead. "Ah...Im glad we share that...that thought process. My father worried...for what felt like months. He worried I would get pregnant." She naively admits, not fully understanding the concern behind it. Everyone has the same bits dont they?
"I wonder what that is..I..I want to try some with you. A-and experience it with you for the first time." She responds, taking a second to look over his hand as he spoke. A soft sigh left her lips as she subconsciously began to trace along the delicate bones in his hands. In a way, she was drawing him in her mind so she doesnt forget this moment. Art for her was a way to jog her memory if she couldnt remember herself.
When he then locks eyes with her, she turns red and looks away, then blinks at his hand reaching for hers. It was a small but meaningful gesture. This...this was nice. She silently thanked her sister for giving her the courage to speak since this wasnt as bad as she thought!
Talking about the room, she nods, keeping her gaze on their fingers. "I would love that. We can empty the room...together." She said, hugging him fully, letting out a little squeak noise. You would feel how much heat was radiating from her face with how much she was blushing.
Hearing his approval of her drawings, she perks up, finding comfort in knowing he liked how she drew her things! Art was the way she showed her love for someone and to be with someone who enjoyed her creative tendencies made her smile brightly. It felt like the first time in a long time she showed her happiness since shes moved to this new place. This might not be so bad after all.
“It…It was my way to show my affections…I..Im not the best with words..And cant vocalize them t-that well…on account of my anxiety…” She responds, her voice raising just a few decibles, rather unnoticable given how soft she spoke for the moment. It would only take a trained ear to catch it, this was a sign she was slowly breaking out of her shell.
Peeking over at him, she seen the wrinkles in his face, signaling a smile on his features. A soft smile danced across her face as well, feeling the nervousness dissipate into the air as she realized he didnt find her anxious behavior annoying or irritating. He kept his kind gaze and didnt show anger. That was enough to have her break out of her shell. “No no…I felt like it…it was necessary.. It was m-mean and s-selfish of me to walk away from you…” A pause. “Why…why w-would I resent you? Y-you have b-been nothing but understanding and pai-paitent with me.” She softly responds, her heart softening as she realized he feared her just as much as she feared him!
Listening to his explanation, she felt this wave of comfort over her. She could hear cheering faintly in her ears, knowing her sister was happy for her breaking out of her shell. Once he finished talking, she nods softly, blushing at the idea of holding a hand. A nose scrunch and a pause, she took in his words. “I…I dont lose sleep with I am with you…Your company is…is nice. Its just…I never sl-slept next to someone of t-the opposite g-gender.” She confesses, her voice lowering again out of nervousness. “T-this is all n-new to me…I would…I would enjoy a s-seperate room f-for now. We can…We can enjoy sleepovers and such t-together.”
“Going sl-slowly can help alot…This…this is something new for us both. I h-hope we…we can grow closer.” As she spoke, she gently grabs his arm, hugging the limb for a few moments. It was her way of saying that she understood him and hoped to grow their relationship! “You are…much softer.”

If I don't get to debate the logistics, morals, and overall architect of the game Mouthwashing I'll break down into a rage, I love debating and this game is the precipice of my moral questioning and interest of the breakage of human psyche- the ability to tell a story, a good horror without using a monster, but rather portraying mankind as its own beast. There's no need for a monster when there's already one lurking, their mind breaking, their mental stability on its last legs before it snaps. It's so interesting to me that they manage to tell a coherent story line along with portraying several ideologies all in one easy to bite game (spare the hallucinogenics) between a company that exploits and uses its people- belittling them so far as to only see their value as transporting a crude substitute of proper 'mouthwash', only giving them 5 hours of sleep, and letting 5 crew members abord a shuttle that only has 4 cryogenic dewards in case of emergency, paired with a man on the brink of instability due to his own shortcomings and inability to "take responsibility" (a motto preached by capitalism), and crew mates that all have their own way of thinking when the question "Who Are You?" Is presented. It's a twisted story, one I need to sink my teeth into and never let go because when they all answer with their own shortcomings and who they THINK they are, their biggest downfall is not only this but its the fact that they can't see one another through eachothers eyes, pulling wool over their eyes and leaving themselves open to the predator that lurks, Jimmy.
#mouthwashing#stfuyadork#ITS JUST SO COOL TO ME#“How far can you push a man before he snaps?”#What an interesting question and I feel the game is centred around it#“Homo Homis Lupus Est”#“Man to Men is Wolf.”

Better on dire cause the block ward is dual purpose? Which corner of the dire rift in large camp do you usually block in, inner or outer?
deffo closer to the safe camp cuz it'll catch cheeks obs in the bottom left corner of the safe camp, plus the terrain is so much more oppressive on the defensive than radiant's terrain so it's easier to defend/punish deward attempts on your sentry. radiant is so wide open with lots of tree clusters for juke spots, the impassable rift in the ground near the pull camps on the dire safelane end make for a much more nuanced texture

Dewards tags along with Van Helsing to the graveyard again.
This time they find out a lot more.
Lucy looks very alive for having been dead over a week.
There is definitely another vampire besides Lucy close by.
Arthur needs to be told and shown what has happened to Lucy.
They must kill her.
They will teturn one more night, this night Van Helsing will stand guard.
Notes from Van Helsing about guard duty:
Lucy is trapped for the moment and can harm none.
The vampire who created Lucy can take shelter together with her.
Van Helsing leaves all his knowledge about the other vampire for Seward to find in case that Van Helsing should perish this night.
Dark times!

Strategic Depth: Understanding Dota 2's Complex Mechanics
Dota 2, developed by Valve Corporation, is a game of immense strategic depth and complexity. Known for its steep learning curve, the game challenges players to master a myriad of mechanics and strategies to succeed. This blog aims to dissect these mechanics, providing insights into the layers of strategy that make Dota 2 a unique and engaging experience.
Introduction to Dota 2's Strategic Depth
Dota 2 is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game where two teams of five players compete to destroy the opposing team's Ancient, a large structure located within their base. The game is renowned for its strategic complexity, which arises from a combination of diverse hero abilities, intricate item interactions, and dynamic game objectives. Understanding these elements is crucial for both new players and seasoned veterans looking to refine their strategies.
Hero Selection and Roles
One of the fundamental aspects of Dota 2's strategic depth is the hero selection process. With over 120 heroes, each possessing unique abilities and playstyles, choosing the right hero can significantly impact the game's outcome. Heroes are generally categorized into five roles: Carry, Mid, Offlane, Support, and Hard Support.
Carry: These heroes are typically weak in the early game but become powerful in the late game. Their primary objective is to farm gold and experience to purchase items that enhance their damage output.
Mid: Midlaners are versatile heroes who often control the tempo of the game. They require good game sense and mechanical skill to dominate their lane and rotate to other parts of the map effectively.
Offlane: Offlaners are usually durable heroes who can withstand harassment and disruption from the enemy team. They focus on creating space and applying pressure on the enemy's safe lane.
Support: Support heroes provide vision, healing, and crowd control to assist their team. They often sacrifice their own farm to ensure the carry and midlaner have a strong early game.
Hard Support: The hard support is responsible for warding, dewarding, and ensuring the team's vision control. They are essential in protecting the carry and setting up ganks.
Laning Phase and Map Control
The laning phase is the early stage of the game where heroes farm gold and experience in their designated lanes. Effective laning requires understanding creep equilibrium, harassing opponents, and securing last hits. Properly executed, the laning phase sets the foundation for the mid-game.
Creep Equilibrium: Managing creep equilibrium involves maintaining the position of the creeps close to your tower without letting them reach the tower's range. This minimizes the risk of being ganked and ensures a safer farming environment.
Harassing and Zoning: Harassing the enemy heroes while maintaining a safe distance is crucial. Zoning them out of experience range can create a significant level advantage.
Securing Last Hits: The ability to last hit creeps efficiently is fundamental. Each last hit provides gold, which is essential for purchasing items.
Map control is another critical aspect that influences the game's strategic depth. Warding and dewarding play a significant role in controlling vision, which in turn affects ganking, farming, and objective taking.
Warding: Placing Observer Wards in strategic locations provides vision of key areas on the map. This vision can prevent ganks, spot enemy movements, and secure objectives like Roshan.
Dewarding: Removing the enemy's wards is equally important to deny them vision and create opportunities for ambushes.
Itemization and Economy Management
Itemization is a dynamic and critical component of Dota 2. Each hero has a variety of item builds depending on the game situation. Understanding which items to buy and when to buy them can turn the tide of the game.
Core Items: These are essential items that enhance a hero's primary strengths. For example, a carry might prioritize items that increase attack damage and speed, while a support might focus on items that provide utility and survivability.
Situational Items: These items are purchased in response to specific threats or opportunities in the game. For instance, buying a Black King Bar (BKB) to counter enemy crowd control or a Pipe of Insight to mitigate magical damage.
Economy management involves balancing farming efficiency with team objectives. Players must decide when to farm, when to fight, and when to push objectives.
Farming: Efficient farming patterns maximize gold and experience gain. This includes stacking neutral camps, utilizing jungle resources, and clearing creep waves.
Team Fighting: Coordinated team fights are pivotal in gaining control of the map and securing objectives. Proper positioning, ability usage, and item activation are crucial during engagements.
Pushing: Pushing towers and barracks not only provides gold but also cripples the enemy's ability to farm and defend their base.
Advanced Mechanics: Timing and Positioning
Timing and positioning are advanced mechanics that significantly influence the outcome of battles and the overall game.
Timing: Timing refers to executing actions at the optimal moment. This includes using abilities at the right time, coordinating attacks, and taking objectives when the enemy is at a disadvantage.
Positioning: Positioning is the art of placing your hero in the most advantageous spot during fights and engagements. Proper positioning can maximize damage output, avoid crowd control, and escape danger.
Metagame and Adaptation
The metagame, or meta, refers to the prevailing strategies and hero picks that dominate the current patch or competitive scene. Staying updated with the meta and adapting to its changes is essential for success.
Patch Updates: Valve frequently updates Dota 2, introducing balance changes, new items, and hero adjustments. Understanding these changes and how they affect the game is crucial for staying competitive.
Competitive Scene: Watching professional matches and learning from top players can provide insights into effective strategies and hero picks. Adaptation involves incorporating these strategies into your own playstyle and adjusting to the evolving meta.
Communication and Team Coordination
Effective communication and team coordination are vital for executing strategies and achieving victory in Dota 2.
Voice Chat and Ping System: Utilizing the in-game voice chat and ping system allows for real-time communication with teammates. This is essential for coordinating ganks, defending towers, and initiating team fights.
Shot Calling: Having a designated shot caller can streamline decision-making and ensure everyone is on the same page. The shot caller typically directs the team's movements, target prioritization, and overall strategy.
Positive Attitude: Maintaining a positive attitude and fostering good teamwork can enhance overall performance. Encouraging and supporting teammates, even in difficult situations, can boost morale and lead to better outcomes.
Conclusion
Dota 2's strategic depth is a testament to its enduring appeal and complexity. From hero selection and roles to laning phase tactics, itemization, advanced mechanics, metagame adaptation, and team coordination, the game offers a rich tapestry of strategic elements for players to master. Understanding and embracing these mechanics can elevate your gameplay and provide a rewarding and intellectually stimulating experience.
By delving into the intricate mechanics of Dota 2, players can unlock new layers of strategy, refine their skills, and ultimately achieve greater success on the battlefield. Whether you're a newcomer eager to learn or a seasoned veteran seeking to enhance your expertise, the journey of mastering Dota 2's complex mechanics is a challenging yet immensely gratifying endeavor.

(NEAR) - Derward x Ren
(NEAR) for receiver to lay near to sender's back but not quite touching them.
Renelle was half asleep as she listened to her fathers rambles during his speeches. She and Deward both sat in the back to not raise suspicion that they were there. They werent supposed to go but who is she to listen? Between her jolting herself awake, she felt an energy by her back, which she looks over at Deward. Aw, he was snoozing on the back of her chair. Gently she pushes his head so he can lay on her back, not minding the closeness.
The last thing she wanted was for him to wake up with his neck hurting! She stayed still to make sure he was comfortable, scooting a bit closer to him so he doesnt have to lean over so far.

Book Review: Answers from Aslan
Does the world really need one more book about C.S. Lewis? Donald Williams thinks so, as is evident from his latest book, Answers from Aslan (DeWard, 2023). This volume explores the apologetic contributions and arguments of C.S. Lewis in light of Lewis’s reception and subsequent apologetic works. In brief, Williams argues that, yes, Lewis is still the dean of Christian apologetics and, yes, he is…

@pasiphaedemetriadevil // desi & deward // cont’d [ x ]
Derward shook his head, artificially-reddened curls bouncing and whipping with the breeze.
“Taking care and caring for are two different beasts… I didn’t mean to imply your car wasn’t important to you...”
The more pantomiming she did, the more Derward couldn’t help but chuckle; she was so much more animated than the rural types he was used to dealing with.
“I’ll fix it– It’s not gonna blow up! You can put your phone away too.” With a smile, he reassured her, “Seriously, I got it covered... Still, gotta give you props for effort. Most people wouldn’t try to tackle it on their own.”

Rockelle stares at Deward silently.
Blink blink.
Picks up his hand then pokes her tongue out to lick his finger before scrunching her nose.
"Ew, you taste like updog."
“… I… don’t know what updog is…” Derward eyed Rockelle suspiciously. “Are you implying I’m unsanitary? ‘Cause I’m not." Were his feelings hurt? Almost. Not there yet. He had to find out more before he decided to let her get to him like that. Oh, and if she was flirting... Ugh. God, he hoped she wasn't.

Sure! Every now and then I'll deep-dive into the world of free books online, so these are from a mish-mash of different places. I have collected a bunch of books in this way over the past few years, but usually never get around to reading them. I'd like to change that this year and see if anything I learn ends up helping me.
(As an aside, I also grab a bunch of free books to do with specific subjects I want to know more about. They're not books about writing, but it's a great way to get info for your fiction books.)
The list is pretty long, so I'll put it under the cut.
From Project Gutenberg:
The Writing of Fiction by Edith Wharton
Fiction Writers on Fiction Writing by Arthur Sullivant Hoffman
How to Write a Novel: A Practical Guide to the Art of Fiction
Aspects of the novel by E. M. Forster
The Craft of Fiction by Percy Lubbock
The Technique of Fiction Writing by Robert Saunders Dowst
These Project Gutenberg books might be old, but they're great resources from the quick skims I have had so far.
From The Open University:
Start writing fiction
Start writing fiction: characters and stories
Technically the two above are courses, but you can download each course as a PDF/epub/doc, which is what I did.
From Writers Helping Writers:
Free Show Don't Tell Pro Pack (a sampler of all their books!)
and honestly they have so many good resources you should just go to their website and check out their worksheets
From One Stop for Writers:
Storyteller's Roadmap: How to Plan a Story, How to Write a Story, and How to Revise a Story (technically not a downloadable book, but structured like an online textbook)
From Nicole at InkWellSpills:
The Worldbuilding Workbook
The rest of the books that will be listed are from various ebook apps and websites. These were all free when I downloaded them, and most probably still are, but let me know if that has changed for any of them. I couldn't find a way to link these but you should be able to search the author's names on the apps and find these books.
From the Kobo app:
Art & Craft of Writing: Secret Advice for Writers by Victoria Mixon
