FLUFFCEMBER DAY#28: (Dante x Reader)

Drunk and sleepy

While enjoying some light night television and your favorite beverage, you were the most relaxed you'd been all week. No demons had attacked in a full 24 hours, Vergil and Nero were spending some father-som time a few towns over, Nico was out collecting parts and wouldn't be back for a week, Lady and Trish were out doing their own thing, and Dante was out of the house. He'd said he was just going for drinks with Morrison, and that he would be back before midnight, though you doubted these claims. Knowing Dante, he'd probably lose track of time and end up staying at the bar until the wee hours of morning.

Surprisingly enough, Dante stumbled through the door at 12:03, only three minutes late, an unusual swagger in his steps.

"Hey, Dante," You greeted, pausing your show. "How was everything?"

Dante either didn't hear you or was ignoring you. After a few moments, you still couldn't tell which explanation was more fitting because Dante had wordlessly taken a seat right next to you, picked up the remote, and switched to another channel, surfing TV shows lazily.

"Dante?" You asked again. "Hey, can you hear me?" The only response you got was a slurred "huuh" and a few slow blinks before the white-haired idiot resumed channel surfing.

"Hello?" You prompted again, waving your hand in front of his face, trying to elicit a response. Nothing. It was as if he never even noticed you.

"Oh heyy," He finally said, after a whole minute of silence. "When'd you get home?" You could only roll your eyes at him and sigh in exasperation. If this was the state Dante was in, imagine poor Morrison--oh wait, maybe Dante was just like this because he was irresponsible and careless with his alcohol consumption.

"I've been home for a while, now." You told him, as he slumped further against the cushions. "It's you who just came back. And you're a mess. Why don't you head to bed early?"

"Bed...yeah..." Dante mumbled stupidly, looking around the room as if expecting one to materialize before his eyes. Not seeing one, he shrugged, mumbled something along the lines of "night night" and fell asleep right there on the couch, his entire body going limp, head convienently landing right on your chest, smacking the wind out of you, the sheer weight of his large self forcing you into an awkward horizontal position where your legs were bent uncomfortably far and your arms were pinned to your sides.

"Well shit," You said to yourself, as Dante began snoring. "Guess this is how I'm spending the night."

¤ Dante ¤

-When you come up to him asking to compare hand sizes, he is all in!

-Dante tries to screw with your head by dramatically misaligning your palms to make you think your hand is bigger than his, but you call him out on his blatant cheating.

-He keeps denying it though, going, "no, no, your hand is bigger, babe!" Even though you have evidence to prove him wrong.

-To get him to stop with his goofiness, you twine your fingers together, aligning your hands and showing how his hand is much larger than yours.

-He laughs, then yanks you forward to give you a big, loving kiss, followed by a long and warm hug.

-He's gonna want to hold hands more often after this.

■ Vergil ■

-Despite his cold aloofness, Vergil had to admit he was curious about the ratio of your hand size to his.

-He is reluctant to actually go through with the act, however, as he finds it embarrassing.

-When you do finally manage to get him to raise his hand so you can press your palm against his, you find Vergil is blushing so heavily he has to hide his face in his book.

-After a few moments of coaxing, the half demon relents and turns to look at your hands pressed together. When he sees how his hand is larger than yours, a little piece of him melts away.

-He is once again reminded that you are his precious baby and that he must protect you at all costs.

-At night, when you're asleep and he can't, he'll twine your fingers together and just hold onto your hand like a lifeline, even after he falls asleep.

□ Nero □

-Nero at first thought you wanted to compare your hand with his prosthetic hand and was confused when you told him that wasn't the case.

-This was because Nero was never really concerned with hand sizes and how yours related to his, but then he saw the sparkle in your eyes and gave in.

-Nervously, though with no idea why, he raised his hand and pressed it against yours, watching as you squealed about how yours seemed to be 3/4 the size of his.

-He couldn't explain why, but seeing this made him all warm and fuzzy inside.

-He couldn't help himself, and ended up leaning in to kiss you, grabbing hold of your other hand in the process.

-Ever since that day, whenever you guys are sitting together, chilling, you'll be holding hands.
