I'm bored, random crossover time again
Recently I have gotten into a little shooter game known as Ultrakill.
Tumblr media
For those who don't know: Ultrakill is basically a shooter game that combines elements from Titanfall, Doom Eternal, Devil May Cry, etc. You play as V1, a literal blood-powered combat robot that descends into Hell (from Dante's Inferno) to get more blood. On the way, you fight demons, angels, and other machines.
So? With my blog basically sporadically alive, let me revive it with another nonsensical crossover!
Gender neutral reader
SPOILERS AHEAD!
How these two games crossed over:
So you own both a PC and a phone/tablet. You would mostly play Genshin Impact on your mobile device while you played Ultrakill on your PC.
You've managed to complete both games and right now you tried obtaining all the alternate 'slab' weapons in Ultrakill. You have one already, simply called the slab revolver by many. Your next weapon to obtain is the sawblade launcher, located in stage 4-4 Clair de Soleil.
So, you did so. Whiplashing the blue skull from the right room after you used the first jump pad, the door opened and you shot your railcannon into the water. However, when you did so, the game decided to crash on you.
"What the hell??" You said before grumbling a little and trying to boot the game back up to no avail. Closing out the game, you bothered to play a little Genshin. However, within a few seconds of booting up the game, you got shocked and blacked out.
Tumblr media
How you got to Teyvat:
After waking up, you found yourself in a plains area... and then you saw an anemo slime.
"Hey, you. You're finally awake." A voice that sounded like Microsoft Sam said from behind you.
(V1's voice from this program)
Turning around, you were greeted by the blue camera head himself.
"What the frick V1 how are you here??"
"I don't fucking know, one moment I touched the sawblade launcher, and now I'm here in what appears to be Limbo but not fake with the human who basically assisted me in murdering all of hell for blood. By the way, you perform really great shotgun yeets!*"
"Uh, thanks." You awkwardly responded.
"Now where the fuck can I get some blood?"
In Mondstadt:
The two of you ended up wandering around V1 had managed to kill a few wild animals for blood with his revolver. It didn't take long for someone to hear the sounds and approach you two afterward.
"You two! Stop right there!" Amber heard the sounds of V1's revolver shots as she ran towards you two. If it weren't for you rapidly telling V1 to not shoot her, she'd likely be on the floor in a pool of her own blood.
"...Hi there." You awkwardly said before she ended up tackling you to the ground in a hug with V1 just looking at the sight.
After Amber took you two to Mondstadt, word spread quickly of the Divine One and their blue angel-looking machine. The two of you managed to receive free housing with the Knights of Favonius alongside a tour of the city.
V1 abused his superior mobility to cross the entire city from one side to the other in less than a minute. This astonished the local citizens at this strange individual's movement skills. And then he accidentally crashes into a random citizen's cart.
"WHEEEEEEEEEEE"
"V1 don't you're gonna-!"
V1 crashes into a cart full of cabbages, toppling it
"..."
Everyone's also confused at his ability to seemingly generate coins... before shooting at them with that curved thing he holds in his hands and then it kills stuff. (I presume that most Mondstatians have never seen guns, the closest they have seen is probably a bow,)
Then he somehow pulls a giant double-barreled minigun?? Then a tube that shoots rockets??
Expect Klee to be all over him.
"Well see, this rocket launcher used to be an industrial tool, until some-"
"HOW BIG OF A BOOM CAN IT MAKE?!"
"...Let me demonstrate!"
V1 activated the freeze mode on his Freezeframe Rocket Launcher and fired a few rockets at a group of wolves...
...Safe to say, those wolves and their surroundings got blown up to high hell.
When Jean found the destructive duo, V1 just took Klee into his arms and proceeded to abuse his mobility yet again.
"BOING! Catch me now, bozo!"
"Get back here you blue thing-"
"I am not a blue thing thank you- BOING!"
Looking past shenanigans, Albedo and Sucrose have taken an interest in V1's lethal arsenal that's even far superior to Fatui tech. Noelle might ask to train with the machine after some introductions.
In Liyue
After a few days of staying in Mondstadt, you kinda wanted to see Liyue so you told everyone else and asked V1 to accompany you. Upon arrival though, you found out that Liyue prepared a celebration for the two of you. Turns out news can leak out quickly to the world even if you've only interacted with a part of it.
V1 found Liyue significantly more fun to traverse and navigate around. From mountainous marvels to spacious streets, the nation provided him with no short of tricks to pull off.
Everyone interacted with V1 normally until he started using the Whiplash to grab items from various vendors merely flipping a few coins at them in return. This led to a scuffle with the Millelith and he ended up shocking everyone by knocking all of the soldiers out with a mere punch to their chest.
Thankfully you managed to calm him down.
When he saw the Jade Chamber, he made it a personal challenge to ascend without using the proper way. He unfortunately did so while Ningguang was pleasantly talking with you.
"This, your grace, is-" You could then faintly hear rocket sounds in the distance, with Ningguang following suit shortly after. You both turned in the direction of the sound to see V1 flying on a rocket with his Freezeframe Rocket Launcher yet again before he jumped off and landed right next to the two of you.
"Hi friend I'm back! Mechanic abuse is funny!"
Ningguang just blinked at the sight of the combat machine that somehow stood on a small flying object to get up here without proper authorization. "...Your grace what the heck did that thing just do??"
"I AM NOT A THING-"
Part 2?
*Shotgun yeets refer to projectile boosts.

Can you write a reader who is a jazz singer with the DMC men?
Tumblr media
my main inspiration for this headcanon is the ‘Stay High’ cover by Haley Reinhart in the style of 1930’s vintage jazz: https://youtu.be/7hHZnvjCbVw?si=EnbZch_hwT4B-hi1
Maybe it’s the weekend when the gang decided to hang out at a local pub but since it was closed due to maintenance reasons, they decided to hang out at a random jazz bar instead. Turns out, it’s much better than they expected, it’s cozy; the drinks are delicious; the vibes are immaculate but most importantly, the jazz singer is devilishly talented with the way her singing had managed to bewitch everyone’s heart and soul. It doesn’t help when she’s quite a looker as well
Tumblr media
Sure!
Sparda boys + V x Jazz Singer!Reader headcannons
¤ Dante ¤
-Dante was just chilling at this new bar that opened up, not expecting much, just some mediocre drinks.
-Then a song began to play and singer had one of the prettiest, sultry voices he'd ever heard.
-Dante was absorbed in your singing, and when the song eventually stopped, he had to admit, he was disappointed.
-He'd heard plenty of talented singers in his lifetime, sure, but you could beat them all any day.
-He found himself returning to that pub several times a week, not for the drinks, as the others at Devil May Cry might assume, but for you.
-When he'll actually get up and talk to you is a mystery, though.
■ Vergil ■
-Vergil didn't want to go to that bar, initially, but he let everyone drag him along because secretly he wants to spend time with them.
-He was sitting awkwardly in the corner like the dork he was, until he heard a new song began to play and this lovely voice start singing.
-He was completely lost in your singing, unable to concentrate on his book, forgetting that he was sitting next to other people, and for a moment, looked up from his poetry to see the face of this gorgeous singer.
-He'd never seen a more beautiful woman in his life. Standing up there, illuminated by the dim bar lights, you looked like an angel.
-Vergil really wanted to introduce himself because if he didn't, you might disappear forever, but he was just so internally nervous, he couldn't bring himself to do it.
-With some nudging from Dante the others, he managed to MOTIVATE himself enough to walk up there and talk to you. He ended up chatting with you for about 15 minutes before walking away with an ego boost and your phone number written on paper in his pocket.
□ Nero □
-Nero was supposed to just be going out for a night with his dad and uncle, not to fall in love.
-But here he was, sitting against the counter of a bar, some lame-tasting drink in his hands, condensation dripping down the sides of the glass as he stared languidly at the stage.
-And there you were, in your lovely white dress, belting out lyrics Nero wasn't really paying attention to. Your voice was all he needed to focus on, all he would ever focus on, if given the chance.
-Dante saw him ready to fall asleep thanks to your singing and decided to punch Nero in the shoulder to make sure he didn't fall asleep. Then he urged him to go introduce himself before it was too late.
-Nero is far too introverted to care; he doesn't have to talk to you to enjoy your beautiful singing voice, so he tells Dante to leave him the F alone.
-Nero keeps coming back to that bar. You've see him so many times, he might as well live there. Perhaps you will be the one to introduce yourself first.
● V ●
-V decided it would be a good idea to walk around and stretch his legs for a bit, and ended up venturing into a pub.
-V isn't one to drink, but after noticing the menu offered cheaply priced tea, he decided it wouldn't hurt to sit and relax a while.
-He watched several shows and listened to a few live songs, but none of them could compare to the splendor that was your singing.
-After hearing you for the first time, V's mind was absolutely blown. You sounded like an angel, a true celestial being descended from heaven to bless his ears.
-V relished the moment; the song had served to inspire him to wrote poetry, right there in the bar.
-While he might never go and introduce himself, but he will keep returning to this bar, just to hear you sing.

He's the wolf screaming lonely in the night He's the blood stain on the stage He's the tear in your eyes, been tempted by his lie He's the knife in your back, he's rage
May 25, 1985 - memorial day weekend
After escaping Hopper's bizarre scrutiny, you continued to walk, making your way out of the main square of downtown Hawkins.
You kept your eyes off your sneakers as you marched on - they were well-worn and comfortable. But they were dirty. Your once alabaster shoes were now scuffed and frayed. The shoelace on the left foot was barely hanging by a pathetic thread.
With everything else going on in your mind, it was easy to simply not look down at them. A part of you still couldn't help but be amused by it, though, knowing that only a year ago you would have died at the sight of these shoes.
You lit another cigarette and giggled to yourself. It was a gentle, happy sound on the empty street.
Several minutes later, the silence was beginning to be broken by the echoes of children laughing and playing nearby. The buzz of the power lines overhead rang in your ears, but you could still hear the water splashing. The diving board rattled every so often.
Hawkins Community Pool.
How did you not think of it before? It would be the perfect place for you to apply for a job. Sunshine, distractions, and not too far away from the motel until you could get a car.
The parking lot of the pool came into view, filled up with families taking their kids for Memorial Day weekend. You entered the main building, making eye contact with a smiling brunette at the front desk.
"Hi! How may I help you? Would you like to sign up for a pool pass?"
You didn't mean to flinch at the cheerful, high pitched voice. She looked very young - too young to recognize you from high school.
Quickly gathering yourself once you noticed the worried look on the girl's face, you gave her a shy smile.
"Um, no, actually. I was wondering if I could fill out an application?"
"Oh, yes. Of course. Let me go grab one."
The girl disappeared into a side office, her ponytail swinging behind her with every movement. You found yourself wishing you still had that kind of pep in your step.
After completing the short application, you collected your pamphlet on local lifeguard certification classes and thanked the girl at the desk. You left the bustling pool entrance, bumping shoulders with excited families and children.
As the sunlight hit your skin, you spotted a man at the far end of the parking lot, leaning against a blue Camaro.
Parked right next to him was a hauntingly familiar black van.
He'll be the love in your eyes, he'll be the blood between your thighs And then have you cry for more He'll put strength to the test, he'll put the thrill back in bed I'm sure you've heard it all before
"...all I'm saying is, I can't date a broad that has two different sized tits. It makes my dick confused."
Eddie rolled up the short sleeves of his white shirt to welcome more sunlight onto his pale skin. He chuckled at Billy's crazy rant about boobs.
The pair loitered in the parking lot of the community pool before Billy's first shift of the new season. The Munson boy leaned back in the open side door of his van, stretching his legs out on the pavement. Billy was applying sunscreen meticulously to himself.
"Maybe you could just have her keep a shirt on. So you don't have to see them," he suggested to his blonde friend. "Better yet, give her your shirt. Chicks dig that."
Billy pondered for a moment, looking around, his devious eyes hiding behind reflective sunglasses.
After many months of being almost best friends with Billy Hargrove, Eddie still wasn't sure how to take him. He was an unpredictable ticking time bomb. Some days he was entertaining and carefree, while the flip of a coin could turn him into a raging asshole.
Eddie had the faint scars to prove it - St. Patty's Day celebrations a couple months back ended in Billy breaking glass beer bottles on the street.
"You still seeing that neighbor girl of yours?" Billy asked out of nowhere.
Eddie twitched.
Billy was nosy as fuck. So of course, he knew about Eddie’s situation with Katrina. It was a cut-and-dry friends with benefits deal. So why was he asking Eddie about it now?
"Uh, yeah, occasionally. Why?"
With a calloused hand, Eddie lifted his long, overgrown hair off the back of his sweaty neck. He tried not to show Billy how uncomfortable the question made him and hid behind his own dark sunglasses.
But Billy was looking across the parking lot now, where Eddie couldn't see behind his van. Billy placed his mirror sunglasses atop his head and grinned wickedly at Eddie.
"You might want to rethink that. I'm pretty sure the Buckley girl you've been crying about all year is trying to hide from us over there."
Stomach dropping and vision blurring violently, Eddie shook his head. "Who? Robin?"
"No, don't be a fucking idiot, Munson. I wouldn't forget those nudie Polaroids you have to save my life. That's the girl. Look."
Unable to stop himself, Eddie slowly stood up to peer around the corner of his van.
Billy was right.
Walking away from them with an unusually fast pace was a woman with shiny hair, longer than he remembered. Your light blue blouse, matching the color of the sky above them, caught the glaring sunlight.
Eddie didn't think he could ever forget the sight of you, no matter how hard he tried, and now here you were. He even remembered the way you walked.
You glanced over your shoulder at them, clearly nervous. It was you.
"If you're not gonna go talk to her, then I will."
"Billy, the hell you're not! BILLY!"
But Billy had already sprinted off, his athletic body carrying him over to you rather quickly, even though you were many yards away. Eddie crawled back into his van, placing his head between his knees to control his breathing. The last thing he wanted to see was Billy chatting up his ex-girlfriend.
He felt like he was going to pass out. Why were you back? Why were you at the damn pool of all places?
Where had you been for the last fucking year?
In a sad attempt to calm his nerves before he fainted like a complete coward, Eddie reached underneath his driver's seat and pulled out a small bottle of vodka. He took several deep swallows of the harsh liquid.
Billy returned sooner than Eddie expected him to. He immediately snatched the bottle from the boy in the van, helping himself to some of the Eddie’s vodka.
"Aren't you about to, like, save children from drowning? Quit drinking all of my booze," Eddie snapped, a headache sinking deep into his skull.
Billy let out a bark of laughter, pleased with himself. "Don't you wanna know how that conversation just went?"
"No," Eddie responded firmly.
His tone was borderline seething, but as usual, Billy didn't pick up on it.
"Whatever, man," Billy smirked, gathering up his whistle lanyard and some other work stuff.
The lifeguard tucked away the bag of weed that Eddie had brought him into the glove box of his Camaro. It was the main reason Eddie met him at the stupid pool to begin with.
"So I'll assume you don't care that I gave her my number, then."
Eddie choked on his mouthful of vodka, fire burning in his throat and lungs. He leaned over to spit on the ground, then lifted the bottom of his shirt to wipe his face with it.
He ignored Billy's prying eyes on his momentarily exposed pale stomach, sighing. He was very much used to that kind of thing from the blonde boy. Boundaries didn't exactly exist with Billy.
"Well?" Billy pressed, pearly white teeth shining.
Fighting the urge to bitch slap his best friend for basically no reason, Eddie left his face expressionless.
"I don't care."
But as soon as Billy vanished into the main building of the pool, Eddie peeled off in his van, heading towards wherever you might have gone.
He'll be the risk in the kiss, might be anger on your lips Might run scared for the door But in seasons of wither we'll stand and deliver Be strong and laugh and...
He caught up with you about a block away. Before you could cross the street, Eddie whipped his van in front of you, stopping you in your tracks.
He tried to remain as nonchalant as possible, but failed horribly. The sound of blood pounding in his ears and a cold sweat developing on his hands was all he could comprehend as he laid eyes on you.
You were so close he could touch you. You only stood about a foot away from his open window, motionless, eyes wide.
Eddie almost wanted to pinch himself, but this wasn't a hallucination.
Sure, he had a little too much vodka only minutes before, but you were real this time. Not like the countless times before, when he would get blackout drunk and imagine you in his room, only to wake up with Katrina asleep beside him instead.
He thought you looked different than he remembered. Older. But not in a bad way. Gone were the days of round cheeks in more youthful years - you were all woman now, your bone structure matured as beautiful as a marble statue.
Eddie felt like he was looking at you for the first time. His mind was drifting back to that fateful day in the cafeteria, when you asked him about giving you a tattoo.
Unsure of how to begin this conversation, or exactly what kind of emotions he was even feeling, Eddie bit his lip.
But you beat him to it.
"Can I help you, freak?"
The boy in the van before you burst into loud, genuine laughter. Your voice was still as deep as the ocean, sweet like molasses.
"Get in the van and I'll tell you exactly how you can help me, sunshine."
"No."
You scowled at him and firmly planted your feet. But you didn't walk away.
"Fine," Eddie replied with a smile, stepping out of the van. "I'll come out of the van to talk to you."
"You're parked in the middle of the road."
"I don't care."
"You smell like vodka."
"I don't care."
He felt your bright eyes rake over him, not unlike how Billy did just moments ago. Eddie was desperate to read your mind, curious to know what you thought of him now.
Leaning against the door of his van, he gestured with a ring-clad hand. "So… how long have you been back in town?"
"I just got back this morning," you mumbled, crossing your arms.
"Where have you been? Why did you leave me?"
Eddie tried to keep the tone of his voice under control, struggling to maintain a mature conversation. Letting his repressed emotions spill out onto Spruce Street wasn't on his agenda for the day.
You kicked at some rocks on the ground near your feet. The Munson boy was very aware of how beat up your shoes were, but didn't say anything. It was obvious that you weren't doing well.
"I… I don't want to talk about that. Not now."
Taking a deep breath through his nose, Eddie spoke patiently. "You didn't call. You didn't write. Nothing."
"I'm sorry."
Eddie flinched at your puny, callous response. "That's all you have to say? Did I really mean that little to you?"
The anger bubbling at the edges of his words evoked the kind of response he wanted from you. Eddie was silently proud that he still knew how to push your buttons, to make you open up to him.
"I didn't have a choice!" you snapped, throwing your hands in the air. Your face reddened in frustration. "I didn't… I didn't have a choice."
"You say that like you were locked in some kind of reform school," Eddie joked, running a hand through his hair.
He was kidding, of course, but the look on your face as you dropped your chin told him he wasn't completely wrong. Eddie could see your hands were shaking.
"Are you serious?" He took a step towards you, but you jumped away from him as if he burned you.
You sighed. "I told you, I don't want to talk about it. But I didn't choose to leave, okay? I didn't choose to disappear for an entire year."
Still feeling a little angry at the lack of answers, at the suffering he endured for so many months, Eddie took one last jab.
"I deserved a better goodbye," he hissed behind clenched teeth.
Fury burned in your piercing gaze. "Yeah? You think? Well, you can thank my dear old dad for that."
"I should have killed him at that party when I had the chance."
You rolled your eyes. "Still as dramatic as ever. I don't think you're capable of killing anyone, Munson."
The corner of his mouth lifted. "I don't know if that's a compliment or an insult."
"Both, I suppose," you responded offhandedly.
Eddie didn't know what else to say. The sun was beating down on them; this particular street didn’t have enough trees to block the rays. The vodka he had consumed was making his empty stomach churn.
"I have to get back." You stepped away from him. "I'll see you around?"
"You're not staying with your dad are you?"
You snorted crudely, but Eddie thought it was a magical sound. "Hell no. I'm… staying at the motel on the edge of town. At least until I can get a job and my own place."
Of course Eddie knew the motel, because that was where Katrina worked. His stomach flipped over again. Him and Katrina weren't official by any means, and he couldn't find a logical reason now to bring up something like that to you.
You, the girl who had disappeared from his life like you were nothing more than an illusion. You were standing before him now, your eyes like cavernous orbs taking in his every movement, every word spilling from his lips.
His fucked up brain was reacting to this like you had passed away and then was somehow resurrected from the grave. An ethereal corpse.
Snapping him out of his hazy thoughts, your voice rang out like the singing of a bird.
"...Eddie?"
"What?"
"I was saying goodbye."
Eddie cracked his knuckles, checked his watch, then motioned for the van. "Let me drive you back over there. It's on the way to my place."
You looked apprehensive. "Are you sure? I can walk-"
"I'm positive," he interrupted with a lopsided smile. "Plus, Brenda here has missed you quite a bit. There's a lot of good memories in this old beater."
He ran around to the other side of the van to open the door for you, unable to stop his wandering eyes from admiring your bare legs. You smelled like soap mixed with a little bit of sweat from the hot day.
"I'm putting a lot of trust in you to get me there safely," you chuckled, clicking your seat belt into place. "It reeks of booze in here."
"I'm a skilled drunk driver these days."
Eddie glanced over at you as he put the van in drive. You seemed saddened by his comment, like you knew you had caused a lot of emotional damage in your wake without ever meaning to.
So he changed the subject. “Did you… take Billy’s number?”
You side-eyed Eddie, confused. “What?”
“The shirtless douche that went up to you a while ago. He said he gave you his number.”
Raised eyebrows, you reached into the pocket of your jean shorts and retrieved a crumpled piece of paper. “Yeah, I took it.”
Disappointment dripped onto his heart. Eddie had silently hoped that Billy was just trying to ruffle his feathers. Could he seriously be so cruel as to prowl on the girl who broke Eddie’s heart, without even a second thought? Maybe it was a grave mistake to consider Billy a friend, let alone a best friend.
But then you opened the paper and held it out for the brown-eyed boy to see.
“Wipe that look off your face, Munson. I already have this number, actually,” you lifted your mouth in a little smile. “He gave me your number.”
Shout, shout, shout! Shout at the devil! Shout, shout, shout! Shout at the devil!

Imagine: Satoru Gojo trying to win your affections (Satoru Gojo x y/n)
Pairing: Satoru Gojo x y/n (you)
Genre: fluff, romance
Warning: few curses
- Satoru Gojo was your classmate, and the moment he saw you, he was dead set on making you his girlfriend
- he would ask you out at least once a week, and every time you would refuse
- y/n-chaaaan, why do always says ‘’no”?
- Gojo… we don’t even know each other
- que to Gojo being really confused because usually his good looks were enough for every other girl he flirted with
- but getting to know each other? well, that’s new
- but he doesn’t have objections, you are stunning and even tho he saw you as someone more on the introverted side, he knew you got some spice in you, and he would gladly have a taste of it
- you were such an interesting person
- but then you got transferred to learn and later, to work overseas
***
- after years of no contact, and not seeing each other…
- you see, your technique was unique, as it was called „SOUL GROUNDING” – you could exchange places of the soul withing the same or different bodies and ground them in the moment of death for few more minutes – how strong the technique results were, depended on how powerful the bending spirit was (working better as a suprise attack)
- but this alone made you a perfect „card” if Sukuna was to take over Yuji body (at least in the early stages of his ‘’possession”)
- the second side of your technique made you really useful when it comes to interrogation – bounding the soul to the body in the moment of death
- once he sees you again…well fuck, you were the most beautiful person even back then, but now? you were soo pretty he could cry
- number one simp for you
- and he was right, you were a devil in disguise with your unusual power and combat skills, you literary played with death
- describes you as devil’s coin – you were as deadly as sweet, two sides
- calls you sweetheart
- introduces you to kids at school as „his future wife”
- gives you tons of compliments
- aaand back to teasing (god, he loves when you blush and gets speechless) and asking you on a date
- lot’s more personal questions – as it was stated before, he wants to know you better
- gets kind of turned on when you are bossy and serious
- constant messages when you are not in his presence, even to the point when you will get his shirtless photo with annotation: ,,Does this not tempt you?”
- and this one time when you were alone, his eyes visible but focused only on you, your expressions, he asked all serious:
- Are you going to ever agree to go out with me?
You looked at him, a little surprised. Nibbled at your bottom lip and thought about how to explain it and not hurt him. He always seemed confident, but you know that part of this was fabricated.
You sighted and started with:
- Satoru…
- fuck, that was first time when you called him by the first name, and it was the sweetest torture
- Satoru… I do find you attractive but… I just… You tease me a lot and give me all this attention, you did even back when we were younger, and sometimes I enjoy this, I do because it’s really flattering and sweet of you, but… sometimes it’s too much. I don’t want to be rude, it’s amazing how much energy you have. You may don’t know or don’t notice, but… - you sighted once again. – I’m really, really tired sometimes and need space. This job is drowning me, it may also be the consequences of my technique, because I feel like even my own soul is aching… I’m just tired. I enjoy you, your humor, I know you would make me happy. Then on the other side I think we just don’t fit, and I would bore you – you looked at him with those sad, guilty eyes and regret swimming just over the surface.
- Gojo can admit and know, he can be a little too much sometimes and looking at you closely you did look tired and resigned
- I’m sorry, y/n-chan, I just want you for myself, I want your attention and your time, I just want you, all of you. I would try and…
- Satoru I don’t want you to change, I think you are fine just the way you are… We just don’t fit-
- Don’t say it again, because you are wrong, we do fit, I believe it… so if you at least have a little hope for us, if you at least find me attractive or are a little curious how we can be, then give me a chance and let me prove it, we will work on this together.
His word were genuine, full of purpose and promise, yet his eyes full of adoration
- you just had to agree
- because even if you didn’t show it, you have also fallen for him but didn’t give into the feelings believing he deserved someone better, someone who would love him fully as he is
- but loving someone isn’t always looking for ‘’ the perfect fit” sometimes it’s just being someone who is open for changes, and would put effort to make things work
- sometimes, those imperfections are things we would simply adore with time
- so y/n let him love you, and let yourself love

In a surprise move of "huh?" and "now?" and "really?" and "why?", Cup Noodle just put out a new commercial based on El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron... the obscure PS3/360 game from nearly 15 years ago.
(A history below...)
At E3 2010, a peculiar game trailer dropped, free from either Sony or Microsoft's big stage shows. It featured vague narration from a snazzily-dressed deep-voiced man, and gladiator combat from a seemingly airheaded prettyboy protagonist. It was barely comprehensible, but I suppose that was also its appeal...

For reasons beyond my comprehension, this trailer absolutely took off in Japan's internet culture, becoming a huge meme on Nicovideo, spawning numerous parody and remix videos.
This one was an old fave of mine, mashing up the trailer with a famous Puyo Puyo song. Also it loops endlessly, so you never have to stop watching.
There was even a goofy no-budget live-action remake of the trailer that's hit 1.5 million views...
El Shaddai eventually launched the following year in 2011. However, despite its early meme status, the game flew criminally under the radar. While it wasn't exactly a flop, and reviewed reasonably well, it just didn't quite leave the impact it probably should've.
Which is a shame, because it was one of the few genuinely ~artfully crafted~ big-shelf games for the big-boy consoles of the era. It donned a painterly style, using pseudo-cel-shading with pastel colors and a watercolor look. The story is esoteric, the environments are abstract. And it even dared to be a bit flamboyant! Wow.
It was essentially the polar opposite of where gaming culture was at the time. And as someone who was completely disillusioned with the direction games were going in that generation, it was one of the few games I really wished I could play. But unfortunately I couldn't...
...UNTIL...!!!
In 2021, a strange miracle happened. A surprise remaster of the game launched on Steam. It too seems to have flown under the radar. But it's still there, still buyable, still playable. And the port seems to be good.
A Switch version also exists if you're so inclined.
So do y'wanna talk about "hidden gems"?? Here's your PS3/360 hidden gem!! And it's available right now, on modern platforms, running well, with no strings attached!
Did I mention it was directed by a character designer who worked on Okami and Devil May Cry? Does that pique your interest yet??
Let's right the wrongs of the past!! It's finally El Shaddai's time to shine!! MONDAI NAI!!!

On May 8th, we also venerate Ancestor Robert Johnson on his 112th birthday 🎉
Tumblr media
A renowned ICON of Hoodoo History, Culture, & Folklore, and a Delta Blue's legend, Robert Johnson's storied yet brief success has cemented him at the crossroads of Hoodoo Folklore & American History. He is known for his exceptionally eerie singing & masterful guitar play amid living a hard and fast life; after having struck a deal with the Devil to become one of the greatest Blue's musicians of all time.
According to Hoodoo Folklore, it was a cool October night when Robert Johnson walked alone with his guitar down a dark road in the Mississippi River Delta on a full moon night to the crossroads at Highways 49 & 61 in Clarksdale, Mississippi. As he walks he thinks about his sorrow. He thinks about the jeers & shouts for him to get off stage. In his misery, he cries out into the night. For his weakness, jealousy, fear, & the anguish of failure. But he’s not alone. Here, he meets the Devil. The Devil heard his cry & appeared, offering to fashion him a talent so he could play unlike any other in exchange for his soul. Thus Robert Johnson rose to fame as the King of the Delta Blues.
Robert Johnson was the eleventh child of his mother's children & born out of wedlock. He was born and grew up with his mother in Hazlehurst, Mississippi until he left to stay with his father for a time in Memphis,TN. His childhood is largely a mystery. Those that knew of him, claimed that he took up the diddley bow (a wire attached to nails sticking out of houses), as music was his life long interest.
As a teen, Robert Johnson met fellow Blue's legend Son House and Willie Brown. They became his musical mentors as they played in small towns throughout the Mississippi Delta. Thus began his showmanship & his iconic fusion of singing, guitar-playing, & songwriting. From then on he lived the life he sang about, the life a mysterious traveling musician. Though as the old folks of the era would say,  “The Blues was never meant to be taken seriously or reflectively. It was simply a force, expressing the deepest roots of their lives”. That there are only 3 known photos of him in existence only adds to his mystery.
By 1931 he was a popular name in bars and nightclubs throughout the region. While passing through Jackson, Mississippi in 1936, Robert Johnson caught the eye of a talent scout who'd go on to arranged his first recording session, which went on to selling 5,000 copies throughout the region. This was the very 1st time that  Robert Johnson's singing voice & guitar play was recorded. Despite his short life & career, he became a major influence on Blue's & Rock N Roll in the '60s & '70s. He'd go on to influence the likes of Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, the Allman Brothers, and Eric Clapton. In 1961 Columbia Records released, King of Delta Blues, which was a compilation of his early recordings; spanning just 29 cut between 1936-1938.
In 1938, a music producer at Columbia Records learned about his recordings & sought him out to perform at Carnegie Hall in NYC in front of an all-Black crowd. Unfortunately, Robert Johnson passed away the night before the show was set.
To this day, the cause of his death remains in dispute. Some say he was shot dead by the man of a paramour he'd messed around with. Others say it was a poison that killed him. His death certificate, however, officially states that his cause of death was Syphilis. Still, whether literally or figuratively, there are those who believe that the Devil did in fact collect his due.
At the time of his death, his grave remained unmarked thus no exumation effort could ever conclude with 100% certainty that the uncovered remains are his. Today, what has long-since been presumed to be his remains, is buried in Little Zion Baptist Church's cemetary, in Greenwood, Mississippi.
"I pray that my redeemer will come and take me from my grave" - Robert Johnson’s final words
We pour libations & give him💐 today as we celebrate him for his legendary contributions to the art, history, and lore of Blue's & Black Culture. May we elevate him in light & healing.
Offering suggestions: listen to/share his music, play Mississippi Delta Blue's , & menthol cigarettes paired with dark liquor
*Note: offering suggestions are just that & strictly for veneration purposes only. Never attempt to conjure up any spirit or entity without proper divination/Mediumship counsel.

Sooooo, just out of curiousity what are some your favorite games??
Excellent question, anon. I will take this chance to ramble to on some of my favorite games. Alongside, I will mention some games I like and enjoy, but not necessarily think they're my favorite.
Honorable mentions: Pokemon, been fan of since kid games are still fun. Bayonetta, No More Heroes, Neon White, Guilty gear (Obviosly, not like this blog is dedicated for it.)
Actual top 5ish. These vary a lot, depending on what I have played recently. Not in any specific order.
I will just say, despite Bayonetta and other not being in my top 5, I am still a huge fan of the hack and slash games in general. I am still huge fan of the characters
Devil May Cry 5. Love this series so much. I have sunk so many hours into it, still haven't beaten bloody palace, got to last stage messed up combo. Haven't played it recently.
Tumblr media
2. Hi-Fi Rush. Love the style of the game, combat and characters are extremely fun. Have had to actually learn how to rhythm to get better points. Love it very much, still trying to master the game in itself.
Tumblr media
3. Witcher 3. Excellent story, good characters. The combat is bit clunky at times. But, the story and setting kept me invested. As, I often lose interest in open world games, if there is nothing keeping me invested. Worth multiple playthroughs to go thru different endings, as your choices do matter.
Tumblr media
4.Hades. Good combat, great characters, not to mention music. Haven't played Hades 2 yet. I want to fully complete Hades, before I get it.
Tumblr media
5. Baldur's Gate 3. Similar reasons as Witcher. Good story, good characters, being able to make your own main character is also good. I always like character creators in games. The gameplay is also fun in it.

i could write a whole essay about dynamic music in video games and how changing the music based directly on a player's actions both elevates the situation and makes the player feel good about what they did
devil may cry 5 and the music changing as you get a higher style rank
need for speed most wanted (2005) dynamically changing its pursuit music depending on what stage of the pursuit you're in (bonus points for having like the best police radio chatter ever)
nier when you're in the village, normally an instrumental version of song of the ancients plays, but as you move closer to devola, you hear her singing more clearly
destiny's raid encounters ramping up the music as the encounter goes on (spire of stars final boss, last wish vault, acquisition in vow of the disciple)
there's so many good examples of dynamic music being used effectively, and video games are the best medium to really make this feature shine

Hey I really like this demo! I can't wait to see more of it!^^ oh and I wanted to ask on how were you able to come up to this IF?🤔 And a bit of classic ask 🤣 but how would the RO's react when someone is flirting with the mc?(both in crushing and relationship stage) if it's spoilery then it's alright if you don't wanna answer it^^👍
That's good to hear, as for your first question its just basically a compilation of my favorite things in life. Like for example the game Devil May Cry and Blade, then of course Van Helsing. Then I just combined those stuff together and that's the birth of this IF. Another one is Kayn from League Of Legends with his crazy relationship with the darkin Rhaast so that's the inspiration for Alpha.
Now let's go for the flirting part so a head up by the way in this MC will be a jackass and very egoistic of themselves 😜😎 Plus, only the crushing stage will be written here. We don't what you guys getting spoiled now do we hahah!
A song to make the mood happen and the answer is below the cut
(Angel's POV)
I chuckled, my laughter reverberating through the room as I slammed my fist against the worn-out brick wall. Shaking my head in disbelief, I couldn't help but feel a surge of pity for the person foolishly attempting to flirt with Tarnish. Having known them for what felt like an eternity, I understood all too well that Tarnish was simply toying with their emotions. It was just their way, unable to resist the allure of hearing compliments from another.
I cracked my knuckles, placing my hand confidently on my hip as I sauntered towards the duo. Closing the distance between us, I noticed their heads snapping in my direction, their attention abruptly diverted.
"Hey An—" I cut them off, lunging at Tarnish and pressing them against the rough surface of the wall. In a swift motion, I pressed my lips against theirs, causing a momentary struggle that soon subsided as Tarnish surrendered. Pulling away, I glanced at the uncomfortable onlooker, who promptly decided to make a hasty exit.
I slowly licked my lips, savoring the taste of the impromptu kiss. "A nice way to greet somebody!" Tarnish quipped, a playful tone in their voice.
Cupping their cheeks in my hands, I smirked. "I don't sugarcoat, Tarnish," I replied, a mischievous grin spreading across my face.
Tarnish burst into laughter, their amusement contagious. "Is that so? Can you put that sugar coating on my lips then?" they asked, their voice dripping with suave charm.
Raising a finger, I playfully tapped their lips. "Maybe next time," I teased, my words laced with a hint of promise.
As we walked away, side by side, I couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment settle over me. Tarnish might be a player, but they were my player, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
(Chase's POV)
Leaning casually against the wall, a smug smirk played on my lips as I watched the hapless individual attempt to flirt with Tarnish. It was a pitiful sight, really. They were already sweating profusely, stumbling over their words, and audibly gulping in nervousness, all while Tarnish merely smiled back at them. What an amateur. It irked me to witness such a pathetic display of failure. Flirting and complimenting were child's play, and here they were, failing miserably at the simplest of tasks.
A voice inside my head whispered, "If you want something done right, do it yourself." Smoothing my slicked-back hair with a self-assured gesture and moistening my lips to give them a tantalizing sheen, I sauntered toward the duo. The stranger was the first to notice my presence, their gaze locked behind Tarnish, until finally, Tarnish's curiosity compelled them to turn around.
"Ch—" Their attempt to address me was quickly silenced as I raised a hand, cutting off their words. Stepping closer, I pressed my hand against Tarnish's chest, pushing them firmly against the wall. My other hand found its place on the wall beside them, allowing me to lean in, our faces mere inches apart. The air crackled with anticipation.
"Careful there, Tarnish," I whispered, my voice laced with flirtatious intent. "Hearing you say my name is making me…" I trailed off, my lips brushing against their ear, "Do things I won't regret come morning."
Drawing back, I observed with satisfaction as the stunned individual made a swift exit, their words abandoned in their mouth. Clearly, my dazzling display had left them speechless.
Tarnish let out a chuckle, drawing my attention back to them. "Promises, promises, promises," they drawled, clicking their tongue in playful reproach.
I laughed, a low, throaty sound that exuded confidence. "Well, they say promises are meant to be broken," I replied cheekily, a playful glint in my eyes.
Without warning, Tarnish grabbed my clothes, swiftly spinning me around and pinning me against the wall this time. The sudden change in power dynamics was exhilarating. Their closeness sent shivers down my spine, as I stared into their smoldering gaze.
"If that's the case," Tarnish challenged, their voice dripping with a mix of desire and amusement, "how about I break you instead?"
I raised an eyebrow, licking my lips in anticipation. "Go ahead," I replied, a smirk playing at the corners of my mouth. "Break me however you please."
Tarnish let go of my clothes, stepping away from me and causing me to pout in frustration. "Nah," they waved their hand dismissively. "You're enjoying this much more than I am," they said, crossing their arms over their chest.
I let out a sigh, my frustration melting away as I trailed behind Tarnish, lost in my own thoughts. "Foreplay. I never liked it, and I never will," I grumbled, my tone irritated.
Tarnish glanced back at me over their shoulder, a sly smile playing at the corners of their lips. "Get used to it then," they shouted back, their words laced with playful defiance.
I rolled my eyes, a wry chuckle escaping my lips. "Always so sure of yourself, aren't you?" I quipped, my words dripping with sarcasm.
Tarnish only shrugged nonchalantly, their movements fluid and relaxed. "Why shouldn't I be?" they asked, their tone smooth as silk. "I know what you like, and I know how to give it to you."
Despite myself, I felt a shiver run down my spine at their words. Tarnish always did have a way of getting under my skin, of making me feel things I didn't quite understand. But there was no denying the raw, primal attraction that pulsed between us, drawing us closer and closer with each passing moment.
(Charles' POV)
Fury coursed through my veins, my fist clenched tightly as a wave of uselessness and misery washed over me. The reasons for this overwhelming anger eluded me, but it swirled relentlessly, threatening to consume me. Surely, the object of my rage couldn't be the person shamelessly flirting with Tarnish. "Surely!" I repeated the word bitterly, grinding my teeth in frustration as I watched the person's smile widen, their jokes eliciting laughter from Tarnish.
I couldn't bear to witness this scene any longer. With a determined resolve, I decided to make my presence known. And make it known I did. "Tarnish!" I called out their name, my voice sharp and commanding, causing both of them to turn their attention toward me.
"Charles fan—" Tarnish words were swiftly cut off by my commanding voice. "Scram!" I bellowed, my words ringing through the air like a thunderclap. Without hesitation, the person turned and fled, leaving behind the unmistakable scent of fear and a tinge of urine. Was I truly that terrifying?
Tarnish's laughter grated on my nerves, mocking my actions. "You just had to scare off my playmate, didn't you?" they taunted, their voice dripping with sarcasm, igniting a spark of irritation within me.
I took a deep breath, attempting to regain my composure. If I didn't, Tarnish and I would undoubtedly find ourselves locked in a heated confrontation, bodies pressed against each other, skin on skin. But why was I even entertaining such thoughts? I needed to focus. "Why did you summon me here? Is there an urgent matter or an emergency?" I demanded, cutting to the chase.
Tarnish's laughter echoed once again, fueling my frustration. "No emergency, Charles," they replied, their voice oozing with confidence. "I just wanted to have some fun with you."
I shook my head, pinching the bridge of my nose in exasperation. "So, all of this was simply a ploy?" I questioned, my annoyance seeping through my words.
Tarnish stepped closer, casually draping their arms over my shoulders, their intoxicating perfume wafting through the air. "Yup, and I know you're going to refuse, but why not give it a chance? I promise you won't regret it," they coaxed, shaking me playfully, attempting to bridge the gap between us, as if we were close friends.
Their invitation hung tantalizingly in the air, as conflicting emotions warred within me. One part of me urged rejection, sensing the potential for regret, while the other whispered that this could be my chance to get closer to Tarnish. I knew deep down that the words about to spill from my mouth would be laced with regret. "Fine!" I grumbled, feigning resistance. "Angel and Mari are in the midst of a heated quarrel at HQ, and I could use some peace and quiet." I pretended to reason, my voice dripping with reluctant acceptance.
Tarnish leaned in, planting a gentle peck on my cheek, leaving a lingering warmth in its wake. "Nice!" they exclaimed, swiftly removing their arm from my shoulders, already forgetting our previous proximity. "Follow me and don't dilly-dally," Tarnish commanded, striding ahead confidently. I brought my hand up to my cheek, feeling the remnants of their kiss, a silent reminder of the mark they had left upon me.
"Tarnish," I replied casually, masking the lingering imprint of their kiss on my mind. It was crucial to maintain an air of nonchalance, even though my heart raced at the mere sound of their voice. I turned towards them, my expression a careful blend of amusement and indifference.
They raised an eyebrow, a mischievous glint in their eyes. "Lost in thought, were we?" they teased, their tone laced with a hint of seduction. "Or perhaps lost in the memory of that kiss?"
I scoffed, feigning nonchalance. "Kisses come and go, Tarnish," I retorted, my words dripping with the confidence of a seasoned flirt. "But you'll have to do better than that to leave a lasting impression."
Tarnish's laughter filled the air, a melodious sound that sent shivers down my spine. They took a step closer, their presence magnetic and captivating. "Is that so?" they countered, their voice low and velvety. "Well, Charles, consider me up for the challenge. I'll make sure every kiss is unforgettable."
Me and Tarnish continue to walk side by side with them still teasing me about the kiss and me remaining composed even though my heart is beating loudly and my nerves rattling when thinking about it.
(Maria's POV)
The room grew dimmer, casting an atmospheric shadow over the scene. My eyes remained fixated on Tarnish, effortlessly captivating and flirting with yet another stranger. It had become a tiresome routine, an endless cycle of their pursuit for hearts and attention. Frustration simmered within me, an ember ready to ignite a storm. "Oh, so now you're just getting jealous?" a voice whispered in my head, taunting and mocking.
I clenched my fists, refusing to let the voice's insidious doubts infiltrate my resolve. "I'm not jealous!" I shot back, my words laced with defiance. Deep down, I couldn't deny the truth lurking beneath the surface. The voice persisted, relentless in its assault. "Liar! You can't help but gush and blush whenever they call you their bunny!"
"I don't!" I retorted, my tone tinged with frustration, before turning my back on the persistent voice. Moments later, Tarnish's voice sliced through the turmoil. "Yeah, I agree with Maria," they interjected, their voice laced with smug satisfaction. "Imaginary enemy!"
Locking eyes with Tarnish, curiosity mingled with anger coursed through my veins. "So, you're finally here. What happened to your friend?" I demanded, my annoyance seeping through my words.
Tarnish chuckled, shaking their head dismissively. An air of confidence and arrogance surrounded them as they replied, "They were utterly basic and boring. A few smiles, a few compliments, and they were practically begging me for a date!"
"And you agreed?" I shot back, my statement veiled as a question.
Straightening their stance, Tarnish closed the gap between us. "Nope! They couldn't hold a candle to you, my bunny," they proclaimed boldly, their words igniting a warmth that spread across my cheeks. In an attempt to hide my blush, I averted my gaze.
Tarnish's laughter filled the space, resonating deep within me like a melodic symphony. "Aww, didn't mean to offend you, my bunny," they teased, their voice dripping with affectionate playfulness. "Alright, how about 'feisty bunny'? Does that sound better?" they added cheekily.
A surge of emotions surged within me, a whirlwind of amusement, frustration, and something more enigmatic. "Call me bunny one more time, and I'll show you what feisty truly means," I warned, a lethal glare aimed in their direction.
Tarnish leaned dangerously close, their proximity igniting a fire within me. "Are you planning to kill me with kindness and love?" they taunted mockingly, a mischievous glint in their eyes.
I let out an exasperated groan, my eyes rolling in exasperation. Tarnish had an uncanny ability to turn even the simplest threat or comment into an innuendo. "Are you in heat or something?" I quipped, my words laced with a touch of amusement.
They casually raised their finger, a nonchalant expression adorning their face. "Oh, my dear bunny, whenever I'm near you, you ignite my mind and set my heat ablaze with just a smile and a glare," they replied, their voice dripping with playful desire. A mischievous wink accompanied their words, sending a jolt of anticipation through my veins.
A soft murmur escaped my lips as I leaned in closer, unable to resist the magnetic pull between us. "And I can say the same about you," I whispered, my voice barely audible but charged with an undercurrent of longing.
Tarnish chuckled, their laughter a melody that echoed through the room. "I'm glad we're on the same page then," they remarked, their words tinged with a knowingness that made my heart skip a beat. In that moment, I cursed my forgetfulness, realizing all too well that Tarnish possessed supernatural senses, able to read between the lines and decipher the unspoken truths.
"That's not what I meant," I stammered, desperately attempting to salvage the conversation and deny the confession that lingered beneath the surface. But Tarnish simply grinned, their expression radiating confidence and mischief, sending delightful tremors through my body.
"Whatever you say, my bunny," they teased, their voice a velvety caress that stirred a maelstrom of emotions within me.
"Now," they continued, extending their hand towards me, an invitation laced with adventure and daring. "What do you say we find something to occupy our night, something more adventurous and daring?" they proposed, their eyes sparkling with anticipation.
As Tarnish's invitation hung in the air, the room around us seemed to fade to the background, leaving just the two of us. My heart pounded in my chest, torn between the caution that come from having walked on the edge of danger before, and the exhilarating possibility of the unknown path that lay ahead.
My face wore a deadpan expression as I tried to keep my poker face in place, while Tarnish clapped their hands together with glee. "I like that look on you, Bunny," they drawled, their eyes alight with mischief. "Serious and sexy, just like I always knew you could be."
I tried to hold in a snort at the compliment, but it escaped as a huff as I couldn't help myself. Tarnish had a knack for spinning flattery into an art form, effortlessly weaving words that could charm the most hardened of hearts. But I knew their game all too well. They could shower me with compliments all day and night, and still, their supply would never run dry. "Enough with the compliments!" I snapped, trying to ignore the way my body reacted to their words. "You could flatter a fish into jumping out of the sea, and I'm not going to fall for it."
Tarnish's lips twisted into a smirk as they shot me a look filled with amusement. "Oh Bunny, you wound me," they said with a playful pout. "It's not my fault you're so easy to compliment. You're like a work of art, just begging to be admired." then they put a hand on their chest and hand outstretched towards me. "And you know I could spend an eternity crafting new compliments just for you."
I couldn't help but roll my eyes at Tarnish's latest round of flattery. It was hard to resist the urge to indulge in our banter, even as I knew it was all just a game to them. "An eternity, huh?" I drawled, my words laced with just a hint of sarcasm. "Well, let's not waste that precious time on flattery. We've got a night ahead of us, remember? Adventure awaits."
Tarnish's eyes sparkled with excitement as they eagerly nodded in agreement. "You're absolutely right, my daring companion," they replied, their voice alive with anticipation. "Let's leave the realm of words and step into the realm of action. The night is ours to explore, to unravel its mysteries, and to forge memories that will last a lifetime."
With that, Tarnish took my hand and led me out into the city, the promise of adventure and mystery hanging thick in the air between us. As we made our way down the bustling streets, the night was alive with the sounds of car horns, music blaring from open windows, and the chatter of the crowds.

Devil May Cry Review
Last year, I adopted my little PS2 from a Value Village. I lovingly took it home, gave it a gentle bath, and spent at least a dozen hours carefully swabbing it's insides of dust. All this, so I can get the experience of playing popular and longstanding game franchises, like God of War, and Metal Gear Solid, where they began. The things we do for love, I guess.
Tumblr media
Since then, I've been on a bit of a side-quest in life, sort of. A quest to discover why popular pieces of media got so popular, by experiencing them first-hand. I have this drive to learn about what is beloved, to join in the fun of fandom with others, and so when I saw a lot of fanart of white haired brothers with magic swords, I got curious. One thing led to another, and after many, many hours, I have some thoughts.
Tumblr media
Devil May Cry, for the PS2, is a very interesting case. For one, its the accidental sister to Resident Evil, as it was originally intended to be the third installment in that franchise during development. Yet the two could not be more different, in terms of gameplay style, visuals, and execution as a whole.
Tumblr media
Where Resident Evil is all about forcing the player into difficult situations , Devil May Cry feels a little more lax. Resident Evil makes the player slowly take in the atmosphere, learn about the lore, and use their knowledge of the map to their advantage, while Devil May Cry prioritizes snappy combat over exploration and puzzle-solving.
Tumblr media
The focus on combat is what everything in DMC revolves around, for better or for worse. There's a variety of visually interesting moves you can pull off, and more to unlock by trading in currency gotten by killing enemy monsters. More upgrades means more cool moves, means more interesting combat, and more ways to tackle bosses.
Tumblr media
At times, though, the complexity of the combat system left me feeling overwhelmed. This is one of the few games where I had to read the manual in order to play, as there isn't any tutorial, and combat can be punishing in early stages if you aren't fully familiar with Dante's moves.
Tumblr media
Even after learning the ins and outs of the controls and combat, I still got my ass handed to me by the first boss, and every one after that. Each one felt like a massive hurdle, and forced me to really learn how they worked in order to even stand a chance. In the moment, I was frustrated, but looking back now, I haven't had to work this hard with a boss in years. Spending hours sitting on my couch, going over the attack patterns, it was almost meditative (if not for the occasional shouts of expletives here and there on my part).
Tumblr media
Devil May Cry, as a whole, isn't incredibly difficult, as long as you know what you're doing. The game is about figuring out your enemies' weaknesses and the best ways to exploit them, not just rushing in and hoping you'll live. Figuring this out is the first challenge, the second is the underwater controls.
Tumblr media
Apart from gameplay itself, DMC is pretty interesting. The gothic architecture is a bit of a far cry from Resident Evil, but carries over it's grim tone and atmosphere. Colors are muted, music is oppressive and heavy, and everything lends to this feeling of grandness and fantasy. It really makes the player character stand out, which is great when you're getting ambushed by ice lizards, or something equally monstrous, in one of the many grand halls.
Tumblr media
This review also wouldn't be complete without talking about the main character, who is a delight to be around. Honestly, Dante is the reason I picked up this game, and the reason I kept coming back to it, even after countless GAME OVER's. His snarky attitude, stylish coat, and cockiness make him a fun character to see interact with others and his surroundings, and really help him stand out from the holier-than-thou demons he faces. He's always got something to say, isn't afraid to speak his mind, and just wants to have fun, and really, who can blame him?
Tumblr media
The story of the game, though, left a bit to be desired. Yes, its epic, and gets better in the second half of the game, but for a while, the game felt aimless. Why do I need to get these magic items, to unlock these doors, to do these tasks the game sets as mission objectives? In most games, they usually directly tie into what the player character is doing, and help facilitate a progression of story. For example, when Jill finds Richard in RE1, and has to get him an antidote before he dies, its not just a fetch quest; it teases the snake boss, establishes Richard as a character in the game's world, and depending on whether or not you save him, it affects future gameplay.
Tumblr media
In DMC, though, each mission feels like homework, an assignment to do before a deadline or else. Sure, its a good way to show players the next objective, and as a neurodivergent person I love having clear and concise instructions, but it kills the mood. I never felt like I was exploring the castle, discovering new things and furthering the plot. It felt like I had a to-do list from the game devs, full of tasks that rarely were related to the plot, and usually just meant 'go here, get the thing, bring it somewhere else'. It would've been nice if the quests explicitly furthered the plot, but at least they told me where to go.
Tumblr media
Don't get me wrong: I don't hate this game. I actually liked it, but there were lots of issues I had with it that soured my experience. Unforgiving bosses, overly complicated controls, and a lack of story immersion made me feel like this game was an experiment with this style of gameplay on Capcom's part. If this had a bit more polish, or maybe a tutorial, I might try playing on a higher difficulty. For now, though, I'm excited to see what's new in the sequel. I've heard its... rather infamous. Exciting.

Crossover Idea: Gangan Impact! Character Poll
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Note 1: Each of the nine characters would have ten stages each to themselves for a total of 90 Missions across three campaigns. You would switch between them throughout each campaign. However, you would be able to upgrade them individually.
Note 2: For gameplay and story purposes, Akame wouldn't have her iconic one-hit kill poison sword Murasame, which would be taken by one of the Original Character Antagonists. That way, Akame will be balanced against the robots, monsters and other characters (playable and boss alike) and we can see her swordsmenship in full focus.
Here are examples of gameplay to show you;

gonna write about ultrakill
i had meant to do this more for media but uhh I'm really good at not doing that anyway over christmas I was gifted some steam credit and decided to use it on Ultrakill
Tumblr media
short abridged version for people not familiar, it's a first person shooter in which you play as a robot entering hell for blood (fuel source) because humanity has died out and in turn having the archangel gabriel set upon him by heaven. if you imagine quake mixed with devil may cry then that's basically this game, a fact it proudly advertises with www.devilmayquake.com as its website.
and it's very fun for it, i'm not ordinarily a shooter person but i got pulled in by the general theming of the game and then got to be bad at it. You more or less start with a basic revolver and then get other weapons over time, as well as mods for those weapons to alter their functionality and interactions with each other. rn there's five base weapons, all of which have at least one secondary fire mod and two of which have full alternate variations. There's also a set of exchangable arms to unlock (being a robot) that also affect moveset interactions, of which are very fun to play around with.
gameplay, you gradually progress through each of dante's nine layers of hell (of which as of writing, a prelude set and the first seven layers are playable). Pretty much all of these are completely unique, the prelude puts you some 2016 DOOM type early area
Tumblr media
but then you get into limbo right after and it's
Tumblr media
all of them stand out compared to each other, rn my favourites I'd say are Wrath, which follows an aquatic theming
Tumblr media
and the most recent layer, Violence which I will save because that caught me off guard pretty much every level of it i reached.
The game completely nails its sense of atmosphere with basically every stage to an almost scary degree, and knows exactly how to change things up and when for maximum effect. There is a full history and lore for the game, not all of which is fully known due to early access, of which is only initially told through environmental storytelling and then fleshed out via enemy bios.
My only real 'complaint' as such with the game comes in part from a couple side areas. The game's developer's sense of humour, while it is generally pretty funny and rarely affects the core game, does have a couple side areas where i feel the atmosphere somewhat suffers for having to accommodate youtuber shoutouts (though this is not extended to Gabriel, voiced by Gianni Matragrano, he remains in character the entire time), which is not really a huge deal more so than just kinda more noticeable given how phenomenal the rest of the game handles itself.
minor complaint though it's still a really good game I strongly recommend. pretty sure its next major update should be its last, for the final two layers, and there's still more than enough game to occupy you even outside just a standard playthrough.
basically ultrakill good strong recommend. especially the violence layer.

Devil May Cry 2 (Dante) Missions 14-18 Ending
Did you think I had forgotten?
Did you think I would ever forget?
Strap in, it’s time for the worst part of Dante’s campaign
Mission 14 is the absolute pits. It’s shit. It’s the second worst level in this game
Why is it so shit?
It wants to be an exploration focused stage: you have to find and activate 4 hidden switches in order to end the level.
Simple premise.
Totally fucked by this being DMC2
Where to begin?
How about with the fact that this level, much like all the others, looks incredibly dull and lifeless, and everywhere looks the fucking same?
Orienting yourself in this stage is beyond awful, there’s nothing interesting or memorable with its level design, there are no set pieces, you can’t move the camera on your own to look for the hidden switches meaning you’ll have to jump around every 5 seconds to see if you can get a glimpse of one, the camera continuously switches angles as you go through the level making exploration extra awkward, the enemies mess with your lock on meaning you have to beat them before hitting a switch, there’s this Silent Hill-like fog effect that makes it harder to spot things at a distance (in a level that’s all about finding 4 hidden orbs).
And the map? As you can see however from when I show it to you it doesn’t keep track of your position, simply giving you the general layout of the stage. In other words it’s practically worthless.
To all Sonic fans watching this: I would 100% much rather be playing Mad Space, because while that stage has its own problems it’s at least much more memorable in terms of design, with each planetoid having a distinct shape,it controls well enough (gravity shenanigans notwithstanding) and you have a radar. A crappy one, but it’s better than absolutely nothing.
Lost Impact is technically worse since it’s bigger, more intricate and has you hunting down way more things (in the Hero mission), but at least Shadow doesn’t move like he’s on molasses and has far snappier gun play
And you know what? At least you only really have to do the Hero mission once.
In DMC2 you’ll have to go through this stage a second time as Lucia only the locations of the switches will be different. Fuck. Off.
And the best part? This is the SECOND worst stage in the game! Lucia gets the cherry on top of this shit sunday, just you wait and see.
And at the end you fight Phantom. Y’know the first boss from DMC1, like that at random, with no explanation.
The following boss fights are either a much tankier version of the Infested Chopper in the form of Trismagia (hope you upgraded your guns) or absolute clusterfucks of enemies that pounce you without rhyme or reason as you try to take out the boss.
And then finally we end with Argosax.
The first phase is just an amalgamation of most bosses in the game (plus Griffon from DMC1 who’s just there for no reason). You stand in one angle and just keep spamming that shoot button until you either drain his GARGANTUAN health bar, or your controller fucking breaks.
The second phase is technically the closest thing to a genuine DMC boss fight in this game, as it has an actual pattern that you have to dodge because he hurts like hell.
Unfortunately since Dante’s movements are so sluggish this boss ends up being way more annoying than challenging.
And you can just whip out the Majin Devil Trigger anyway
It’s a hidden mechanic that the game never tells you about: if you activare Devil Trigger while you have only a tiny bit of health left you turn into an even more powerful demon. Not only do you do OBSCENE amounts of damage but you’re 100% invincible for the duration of the form. It’s a hidden win button that I have no shame in using here because
Fuck
this
game.
.....and now it’s time for Lucia.
sigh....
(where the fuck did Dante get that bike, he didn’t have it with him when he entered the portal?)
