HERE’S THE LINK FOR ANYONE WONDERING
I am so totally normally about this-holy shit it’s actually happening!!!!! I had heard about the new anime years back from a friend, new as in it’s the second anime for DMC as the first came out in 2007 and I thought this one was in development hell and IT’S ACTUALLY A THING!!!!!
Ok so initial thoughts, try to get myself in order XD
I’M SO HYPED FOR THIS!!!!!
This is probably a look into either his past as Tony Redgrave when he was a mercenary OR it’s from 3 when he was first starting the proper demon hunting business after all that happened. That’s all I can tell from this short clip. But the style is so COOL! It’s like it’s from a manga or comic book. Side note they had a comic book series in few volumes but it’s more like watercolor art than traditional look and the novels illustrations look closer to this style which I LOVE.
Im so so so excited for this!!!! I’ve seen some people complaining, not a lot but some and though valid I’m just give a few facts that might ease worries on some things ok? Ok.
1. Castlevani’s director Adi Shankar, is working on this and that show was brutal but also really good! I don’t think I’ve seen much bad about it even if I know there’s people who didn’t like it because it was only part of the Castlevania lore not the entirety
2. Hideaki Itsuno the official director for the DMC series, and the rest of the team from Capcom Japan and America, is gonna be working with Shankar and the rest of the team he has for this. If that doesn’t relieve worries I don’t know what will.
3. It’s confirmed that there’s eight episodes to this first season and there’s FIVE PLANNED and I want that so bad like please please please let them do five for Pete’s sake please please please please-
4. Vergil and Lady are both set to appear!!!! So that leans this more for taking place in or around 3 which means we’re figuring it in somewhere around then
5. If all else fails and you don’t wanna consider this in your canon of events regardless of how it turns out due to personal preference that’s ok! You don’t have to like it and your opinions valid just as much as mine but at the same time please don’t try to ruin it for everyone that is excited and wants to like it ok?
Now if you’ll excuse me I’m gonna be over here vibrating with happy and waiting for more news when it comes out.
"Devil May Cry" The anime series from Capcom, official Announcement.

An Abbreviated History of Mecha Part 3.2: Condition Green (1986-1990)
Welcome back to An Abbreviated History of Mecha! Last time, we covered the first half of the 80's with a bit too much of a focus on the works of one Ryousuke Takahashi. If you remember from the last post, I also covered one series in particular: Legend of the Galactic Heroes. I'm bringing it up here so that it'll be fresh in your head: Galactic Heroes would be one of many Original Video Animation (OVA) series that would be released in this time.
It should also be noted that, unlike last time, there would be a new medium for mecha stories to flourish in: video games! While video games existed at least since the late 70's, it would be in the 80's where they would become mainstream.
Anyways, let's get down to business. Now, before I throw each and every one of you into the bay!!
The Five Star Stories (1986)
Created by Mamoru Nagano, the Five Star Stories would be his first major solo project after leaving Sunrise due to the higher-ups constantly blue-balling him. Covering at least five books and a couple of OVAs, the Five Star Stories is one of the true classics of the canon of mecha.
Now if you want to get an inkling of what he did before the Five Star Stories? I'll cover that next time.
Metal Armor Dragonar (1987)
Coming off the heels of Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ, Sunrise was eager to fill in the void that Gundam left in its wake. And that's where Metal Armor Dragonar comes in. While I felt weird referring to Layzner as being Gundam-like, here I don't. Dragonnar was made first and foremost to fill in for Gundam, especially after the lackluster performance of ZZ.
Robocop (1987)
Also in 1987, we would see the release of Paul Verhoven's Robocop. Robocop is a part of that generation of 80's films where the original movie's deep scathing criticism would be watered down by corporate America's need to constantly make money off of each and every remotely popular series. And while that may be true, the original Robocop still holds up as a scathing criticism of American capitalism in the 80's.
Rockman/Megaman (1987)
(I just found this gif on Tenor. If anyone knows who to source it to, please let me know.)
1987 would also see the release of Capcom's Megaman, one of the icons of the halcyon days of gaming. Sporting his arm-mounted Mega Buster, Mega Man would run through multiple stages in an attempt to stop Doctor Wily and his army of Robot Masters. Megaman would become one of the more iconic of Capcom's roster of characters, though over time he'd be left behind in favor of other characters like Ryu from Street Fighter, Dante from Devil May Cry, and my personal favorite, Rathalos from Monster Hunter. Fortunately, the Blue Bomber would never truly be forgotten, especially with the surprise release of Mega Man 11 in 2018.
Warhammer 40,000 (1987)
Man, 1987 was a packed year for mecha, wasn't it.
In 1987, Games Workshop would release the first edition ruleset for Warhammer 40,000, the sci-fi spinoff to their popular Warhammer Fantasy setting. The grim dark future of the 41st millennium is filled to the brim with all sorts of mechanical monstrosities, from the hulking Imperial titans, to the crimson-robed tech priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus and the mechanical hordes of the Necron.
A fun thing to also note is that, due to both series having a big modelmaking scene, Warhammer 40k tends to see an overlap in fanbases with Mobile Suit Gundam. It certainly helps when both peddle in plastic crack, and as someone who is addicted to the Gundam variety, game respects game.
Patlabor (1988)
Created in 1988 by the collective known as Headgear (which includes famed director Mamoru Oshii among its ranks), I would consider Patlabor to be one of the greatest love letters to mecha ever created. Patlabor is a series where a lot of worldbuilding was added to justify the existence of the giant robots that the creators love so dearly. Something to take note of while watching Patlabor is the general optimism the series brings to the table, even though the series is often grouped together with shows like Armored Trooper VOTOMs.
Most of the series would release between the the end of the decade, but one entry in this franchise would release during a rather rough moment in Japanese history. I'll cover it at some point when I get around to the 90's. Let's just say that if you know what the phrase "Kill Wyvern" is, you'll probably recognize what it'll be.
Also, not to toot my own horn or anything, but I did a write about Patlabor back in the day. So feel free to check that out as well if you have the time.
Cyberpunk 2020 (1988)
(Footage from Cyberpunk 2077)
In 1988, Mike Pondsmith would release the first edition of the Cyberpunk 2020 ruleset, because this is the 80's and tabletop RPGs are kind of the thing (Satanic Panic notwithstanding). In a move that will surprise no one, this series would help to codify a lot of tropes associated with the cyberpunk genre, including at the very least the concept of cyber psychosis.
In 2012, former Internet darling company CD Projekt Red would announce that they would be working on a video game adaptation of Cyberpunk called Cyberpunk 2077. Let's just leave it at that, as I don't really have nice things to say about CD Projekt Red.
Dragon's Heaven (1988)
From mechanical designer Makoto Kobayashi comes 1988's Dragon's Heaven. This extremely stylish and artistically unique OVA is a product of what happens when you give someone who's career started with building garage kits the budget to make an OVA. You want to know where the budget went to? It went into making the models for the main mecha of the OVA. Don't take my word for it? Here's Kenny Lauderdale talking about exactly that.
And in case anyone's wondering, Makoto Kobayashi has, in fact, worked on Gundam before. He's the one who designed Zeta Gundam's Baund-Doc and The O.
Ghost in the Shell (1988)
Also releasing in 1988 is the manga Ghost in the Shell. Created by Masamune Shirow, Ghost in the Shell would become an important series in the worlds of cyberpunk and anime, especially with the film that would release in 1995 directed by Mamoru Oshii. Specifically, this movie along with Akira would be some of the first anime that would really show that people outside of Japan had an interest in anime. Ghost in the Shell would also come to be one of the more influential works out there, as it would be the basis for the Wachowski's iconic movie The Matrix.
Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket (1989)
1989 would be greeted with the introduction of two (of many) culturally important mecha OVAs. The first is Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket, which is also the first Gundam series to be directed by someone not named Yoshiyuki Tomino. War in the Pocket would be a great reminder of why Gundam works as a story, but it would also be one of the Gundam stories with, in my humble opinion, the strongest anti-war messages of the franchise.
Gunbuster (1989)
The other would be Studio Gainax's first official (meaning not the Daicon short) animated series, Gunbuster. Arguably one of the most hot-blooded mecha series out there, Gunbuster is a series that tries to ground itself with real world physics before going "eh," throwing it all in the waste paper basket, and deciding that all we need is HOT BLOOD. This would be the first of many of Gainax's hits, and it would be the first of what I'm going to be referring to from here on out as Gainax's Elite Four.
Conclusion
We've covered a lot of series, but you might be asking yourself things like: "What was going on with Nagano?"
Don't worry, my friends. We still have one more part for the 80's. And in case you're wondering why I saved this part for last, it's because Tomino's output in the 80's is pretty legendary due to how iconic pretty much every series is. Granted, not everyone talks about these series in this day and age, but anyone who's talked about mecha in any capacity will more than likely be able to recognize at least one of these series.
You will see the tears of time.

idk if anyone will read this but honestly, this coming out post is mostly for me. ex-philosopher and youtuber Natalie Wynn (Contrapoints) said in her lesbian coming out video that if she didn’t come out now, she might never and she might never accept herself as a lesbian and that’s why im writing this. putting these feelings into words makes them real and makes me confront them. i’m a transsexual (i think nonbinary people are valid, i just think that sex isn’t binary and unchanging and ive taken steps to change/trans aspects of mine), and until i was almost 21, i lived as a femme gay man. i was raised as a boy and the intersection of my dysphoria, heteronormativity and father inflicted abandonment issues is something im only now starting to disentangle. ever since i was little, i felt like a girl. i didn’t have the words for it but i always was drawn towards femininity and women. and when they first started separating the boys and girls in like pe in 1st grade, there was this profound sense of wrongness in being forced to go with the boys. i had a necessity to not only be with the girls but to be one. in elementary school i had crushes on girls irl and in media but i only had crushes on men in games my dad played and things i watched. dante from devil may cry, leon from resident evil, danny in danny phantom, ben and kevin from ben 10 to name a few. but i didn’t have crushes/attraction on any boys that i knew. that didn’t start until 5th grade when i started experiencing a male puberty. testosterone is one hell of a drug that i am so grateful to be off but it raised my libido like crazy suddenly i was sexually attracted to people and a year later in 6th grade i started being attracted to boys too. growing up with mormon extended family and christians all around me, i was taught that my feelings for men was wrong. but deep down i felt like a girl and i felt that being with another girl would solidify that im actually male, in patriarchy having a woman makes you a man. so to feel feminine and because the church focuses so heavily on it, i focused on my sexual attraction to men. i still had crushes on girls but i felt dysphoric about it an because i wasn’t really a guy, i felt that i was inadequate. so i started thinking that i wanted a romantic relationship with a man. in high school i came out as gay and repressed my feelings for women entirely. i thought that because i had sexual desires for men, i must have romantic desires for them too. at the same time, i would joke about how id be bi if i was a girl and when i saw sapphic love in media, not sex, something in me felt fulfilled. i wanted that. i wanted to love and be loved by a woman as a woman. the idea of being an old woman with my loving wife was heaven, but i thought that i wasn’t allowed to have it, not in this life. but because i felt like womanhood was unattainable, that a man would affirm my femininity and my sexual attraction to men, i think i tricked myself into thinking i wanted to be in a relationship with a man. i don’t think i was really attracted to men, i was attracted to their attention. when i finally started to transition, and pass as a cis woman, i looked back at my life and realized that i had been attracted to women the whole time. i identified as bisexual and heteroromantic to dismiss my feelings for women. but then i went on a date with this girl. she was beautiful and smart and talented. and i realized that i could spend the rest of my life with a woman. the reason i didn’t pursue women was because it made me dysphoric and because the thought of being rejection from a woman hurt so much more than rejection from a man. i currently have a serious boyfriend and he’s making me realize that i don’t want this. men are hot but do i want to spend the rest of my life with one?? did i ever?? i didn’t ever consider a relationship with a woman as a valid option for me but i’m
realizing it’s the only one. my bf is kinda mean and impatient but even is he was gentle and kind, im realizing i don’t want to be with him or any man romantically. i don’t think i have the capacity to love a man romantically and i don’t know if i ever did. i can love men sexually and platonically but when i wake up in the morning, i want to wake up next to my gf/wife. i want to have a common understanding of womanhood that a man, including my trans bf, can’t really have. i want to come home to my gf after a hard day and let me cook and bake my worries away for her. i want to be able to comfort her when she comes home. being domestic and romantic with a man, especially a volatile one, is making me realize that i can’t keep doing this. i might want to hook up with a guy here or there, but i want to give my heart and my body and my self to a woman. being financially dependent makes it hard to leave though 🙃
#lesbian#comphet#wlw#transbian#coming out#my bf isn’t abusive just kinda toxic and we’re bad for each other

I can't recommend video games to people because im sick in the head so most of the games I like are action games that are genuinely painful to stomach until you've sacrificed dozens or even hundreds of hours into it. I think monster hunter rise has quickly entered my top 5 games of all time from me feverishly playing it nonstop the past few weeks but it took 400 hours of world and like 200 hours in rise from the past 2 years to even be able to put a monster hunter game up there. Before that it was a game that just pissed me off but i still played anyway cuz i had fun. Devil May Cry 1 is like the most agonizing torture labyrinth ever made on your first playthrough and probably the next few ng+ cycles because you have no idea what the fuck you're doing or what enemies are doing and it's explained horribly but one day it clicks and it becomes very beautiful very powerful for a game released in 2001. Sekiro has the most painful and unhelpful early game I've ever experienced which doesn't help its (accurate) representation of being disgustingly difficult, and may I remind you that I played it for 2 hours in 2020 and gave up because I was so pissed off by it. But like 200 hours later it's the most beautiful creation on God's green earth and I feel like I've only begun to scratch the surface but this is only achieved by beating your head against the wall a million times until you start imagining the deflect sound in your sleep. You can also say this about dark souls but like everyone knows this about dark souls.
Basically the moral of the story is that every game I like is shit unless you have debilitating autism so if I had to recommend any game to anybody it's probably 2048 on a flip phone

i really hated baldur’s gate 3 and it pains me to say this, bc i feel like a huge jerk for being the one guy hating the thing everyone likes.
i should start out by saying im biased against it by default- i find dnd to be an extremely racist game built on some pretty terrible foundations. despite this, i tried to go in with an open mind.
the first thing i noticed was that they tried to de-racist the setting- awesome! thats great! except… they only did it for *one* race. tieflings, in original dnd, are an "evil" race and cant ever be morally good. baldurs gate 3 has a *lot* tieflings, and theyre all their own person, and none of them are inherently evil! oh, but the tieflings' first threat are goblins, an inherently evil race who cant ever be morally good.
another thing is that everyone in the game is somehow racist- theyre all spouting nonsense fantasy slurs at each other, and its clear the writers dont understand racism at all. everyone making a dnd campaign seems to treat racism as a quirky inevitability, rather than something thats learned. you dont turn racist because an elf killed your dad or something, you turn racist because youre taught that a separate group of people is something to be feared, shunned, and hated.
but what REALLY sunk it for me is the fact that youre basically a serial killer. the second someone wrongs you in any way at all you fucking Murder them. Badly. and it very quickly became hard for me to empathize with these characters because all i could think about was how many lives theyve taken. think about other video games- usually the enemies are either some form of monster (like demons from devil may cry or doom!), and when theyre humans its usually either pro-military propaganda (call of duty) or anti-military propaganda (metal gear solid… kinda LMFAO). ive had my friends defend it by being like "well its just kinda like youre a murder hobo party in dnd!" and that… makes me hate it even more.
i obviously dont think video games cause violence or anything stupid like that, but i do think that all art is pushing a message, intentionally or unintentionally, and a big part of baldurs gate is the idea that people "beneath" you dont deserve to live.
and its really a shame, because there IS a lot of stuff i loved in there. the sheer amount of interactivity is absolutely mind blowing, the characters probably would be fun if they werent serial killers, and the combat is extremely well designed and engaging. theres a lot more i could say but it would be even longer and ive already said a LOT

storyteller saturday. what was the first fandom you ever wrote for, and whats the most prominent one you write for now? got any original works & ideas youre cooking up? if so, what are you looking most forward to getting around to?
hi jaq!!! thanks for stopping by!
let's see. first fandom i ever wrote for, as in i vaguely understood the concept of fanfiction while putting down words, was Devil May Cry back in 2003. none of it ever saw the light of day because i had no internet at the time, and honestly that was for the best. first fandom i wrote for and shared to the internet was Vampire Knight (i think). nowadays i mostly write Five Nights at Freddy's fic and the occasional live action Sonic! which are two fandoms i never in a million years thought i'd write for.
as for original stuff, hell yeah i do! i'm currently querying a book titled Define Home to Me, which is a Caribbean folk horror featuring creepy crawlies, cults, and the horrific realities of being a stranger in your homeland. i wouldn't say i'm looking forward to it, but i have a rewrite slated if this upcoming batch brings back nothing.
otherwise, i'm working on something i'm calling The Singularity Project (title still pending). it's this massive multimedia project that is part "analog horror", part "ARG", and entirely a massive headache. LMAO. i've got its bare bones down and a good chunk of writing is done, mainly in the form of a couple of scripts, the found footage journal entries, and part of the game that serves at its launch point! again, i wouldn't say i'm looking forward to it (that's a lie, i totally am) but first up on the chopping block is getting that first video finished so i can finally get to work on that demo. it's a grueling experience but it's also been really fun so despite my whining i'm really really excited to keep chomping away at it!
#answered.#badscientist#only reason those journals aren't live yet is because i haven't decided on how to host them on neocities. BUT ONCE I DO.

i like how video games are supposed to be a 'man/masculine interest' when i can tell you confidently, with my chest, that every man i've ever met's interest has rarely gone far past call of duty and the occasional 'helldivers/overwatch/doom/similar etc.' they'll be like "oh yeah i played call of duty back in the day" [note: the day they are talking about is ten years ago]. the last time they regularly played anything their age ended in teen. they usually have a more vested interest in sports. or just, straight up drinking. likeeeeeee.... i thought you were supposed to be a MAN? why don't you know about the pros and cons of each companion in fallout? which bioshock is more aesthetically pleasing vs mechanically satisfying vs narratively sound? why mass effect sucks? what do you MEAN you don't know about our divine, our saviour, dishonored? you don't have an unhealthy dynamic or otherwise complicated to explain relationship with turn-based strategy games? you can't hold a conversation with me about whether third person or first person suits the aesthetic and overall enjoyment of resident evil? oh you've never played devil may cry? hades? dragon age? tch.
#it's sickening............#the looks i get from the average man when i start talking about vgs...#brother i've even played skyrim.........#the only thing i can't talk about is halo and that's on my parents REFUSING to buy xboxes#the gender norms i am implying are meant to be a Bit btw#percy talks

2024 Games: Pokemon Sword
So this was a bit of a weird time. This is a pretty long read as after playing this game after so many years that, along with the borderline nuclear fallout that was the fandom reaction to it, was a major contributor to me kind of falling out of active interest in pokemon, my ultimate takeaway was that the game was actually not that bad. It was pretty fun, a little underrated even.
My history with this game starts around 2018ish. USUM had come out and I really liked that game. Gen 7 was an all around good time overall which I still appreciate today. The release that year was Let's Go, which I'll be real, I wasn't a fan of it in premise, I'm still not tbh. I could go into that but, in short, it was a game I had little to no interest in and I ultimately decided to skip it to see whatever was next. I bring this up because I think this was the start of me falling out of interest in pokemon, at least for a while. But while Let's Go may have planted the seed, SwSh was what solidified it.
Enter the announcement of Sword and Shield, my friends and I were pretty excited for it, the game looked pretty interesting, a region based on England? That's pretty neat. The new pokemon looked really cool too, we were genuinely excited about it. But if you're familiar with this game's history, you know exactly what happened. In the middle of the game’s hype cycle, GameFreak announced the titanically controversial decision to not include roughly half the existing pokedex in the game meaning that many pokemon would simply not exist in Pokemon SwSh. This was probably one of the biggest Internet shitstorms I've ever been witness to, and the whole thing, both the actual decision and visceral reaction, only made worse by bad actors in the community fanning the flame, just really turned me off SwSh and Pokemon as a whole in a way. In some ways it was a good thing, in the time I wasn't playing Pokemon I was exploring other series I was less familiar with like Devil May Cry, Zelda or Xenoblade or further exploring series I hadn't fully played yet like Metroid or Mega Man, most of which are series I absolutely adore today.
I still kept up with Pokemon to some extent, mostly playing the games while keeping my distance from the wider community. I played BDSP when it released and was not as disappointed as everyone else while still feeling fairly apathetic to it. Played Legends Arceus when it came out and genuinely loved it for it's fresh take on pokemon while also offering a ton of history and lore on Sinnoh that I really appreciated and I played Scarlet and dropped it a couple days in after discovering Pokeball warps and absolutely breaking the game letting me do a lap around the whole region and getting a lvl 40 starter before ever entering the school. Yhe vast majority of my time with pokemon was playing older games in Gen 3 or shiny hunting. That was til about 6 months ago. I had been playing Emerald and I wanted to take on the Battle Frontier and get the Gold Symbols. While I was prepping to do this I was watching a couple videos on the Ribbon Master Challenge and since I was already doing the Frontier and with the looming closure of Pokemon Bank, I thought that I wanted to take that on. And it's been something I've been working on the past few months. Massive shoutouts to CannedWolfMeat and SirToastyToes for their excellent videos that inspired me to do this. And now I'm here basically at the end, prepping to play through Scarlet for the the last few Ribbons in that game.
Of course though, In order to get the ribbons in Sword, I had to actually play through it for the first time. The playthrough, while really easy Leon and early Klara not withstanding, was extremely strong in terms of options for team members, especially with Isle of Armor options thrown in. I love pokemon games that offer a large variety of team members to use, it's a big reason I enjoy XY more than most. I found myself using 10 whole team members by the end of the playthrough. Would have had more but I literally never found Applin and Cursola is Shield exclusive. Many of these were new Galarian Pokemon which are for the most part fantastic. Galar imo has one of the strongest lineups of new pokemon in the series, though I feel Alola did regional forms better. Seriously though, I was using all these guys by the end.
Something thatvalso surprised me was the locations. While the Wild Area is a little boring, I found myself enjoying many of the locations. The two big cities, Hammerlocke and Motostoke are cool and feel very large, Ballonlea and the Glimwood Tangle are actually really great areas visually and Wyndon is imo, one of the best cities we've seen in a Pokemon Game in terms of both scale and looks. While I do like these areas, I will say progressing through them is extremely linear, it feels like there's very little opportunity to go off the beaten path. It's a pretty big shame when even more linear games like XY or Gen 7 had at least a couple of optional areas to explore.
I will say the main story isn’t great. I enjoyed some of the characters. Bede had a neat story with him basically trying to get validation from a father figure who doesn't seem to care much about him. Marnie was an all around good character with some fun interactions who genuinely is just doing her best for her home town and much of the dlc cast like Mustard, Klara and Peony were genuinely entertaining. I did enjoy some of the main game side characters too like Bea and Piers.
Where the plot falls is, well, the plot, not a lot really happens. The game does build up Rose's plan with Eternatus, but you're kept out of the action for most of the events leading up to it. The game basically doesn't have an antagonist until right at the end, where it just kinda feels forced. Everything with Macro Cosmos at Rose Tower only happens because Leon was meeting Rose and we didn't like that for some reason? And of course there's the climax with Eternatus, where as everyone and their mother has pointed out, Rose basically unleashes the apocalypse because he couldn't wait one day to solve a problem 1000 years away. I do like how nonchalant he is about it though, that's kind of funny and Eternatus is actually a pretty cool legendary, though there really isn't much on it storywise beyond the fact it crashed to Earth 3000 years ago and it is the source of Dynamax.
The DLCs though do have more interesting stories. With Isle of Armor focusing on Klara and her being humbled through the dojo and then bonding with Kubfu to raise him to his ultimate form. And Crown Tundra was actually really interesting as you have Calyrex be an actual character. The king of the land who lost his power over time, seemingly losing faith in himself and subsequently losing the people's worship and his steeds. Heck the fact that Calyrex properly talks to you really helps make him and his story stand out from other legendaries and is really neat I think.
I will say, there may be something to be said about how many of the best parts of this game are locked behind DLC. I don't think that's inherently a bad thing, the DLC itself definitely justifies its purchase, but I do agree that the main game is a little lacking in some areas that the DLC does help make up for but that of course has the price tag attached. I also have to say the way the DLC is designed is a liitle strange. While Isle of armor does a decent job being something you can do at any point. Having access to the Crown Tundra as early as the Wild Area is extremely weird. The levels don't scale like the Wild Area or Isle of Armor so no matter when you go there you'll be fighting stuff in the high 50s or low 60s. While this does mean you can't catch anything in the wild, there is absolutely nothing stopping you from doing the Dynamax adventures and catching not just a massive variety of overleveled fully evolved mons but basically any legendary from the previous generations. And with that stuff, it's not unreasonable to be able to do literally everything in the Tundra after that except for catching Calyrex. While I would agree this is a fair decision, when you're already handing me literally anything I could want to steamroll the game, blocking off Calyrex and only Calyrex just seems weird.
For some other Miscellaneous stuff. The Battle Tower: It's pathetically easy, especially by previous Tower standards. The NPCs are limited to the Pokedex available at launch and you have no restrictions on useable mons. I'm not really complaining about this as it felt good to have a Facility that was basically just a victory lap after doing every other Tower in the past 6 months or so, and it is very worthwhile to do for rewards like Bottle Caps, Candies and the Nature Mints. 50 BP for one mint sounds like a lot but it's really not as bad as it sounds. But it is slso incredibly funny that shit like this is allowed.
Speaking of, the Nature Mints, those are a genuinely fantastic addition to the series. I'm very happy to see how accessible optimising pokemon has become since Gen 7. Between Hyper Training, Very easy levelling with jow many candies you can get through Raids, Nature Mints, easily accessible EV Training through the dojo and items like the Ability Capsule and Patch (Even with how expensive the patch is in SwSh), you can make pretty much any pokemon perfectly optimised for competitive use with, for the most part, not much time investment, it's genuinely great.
One thing I have to say as someone who enjoys a bit of Shiny Hunting, SwSh are kind of a slap in tge face with how many mons are shiny locked. Stuff like Type Null which was huntable in Gen 7, the starters which are a cardinal sin to shiny lock imo, and Cosmog who has literally no practical reason to be shiny locked when you can get Solgaleo or Lunala from the Max Lair with massively boosted shiny odds. It only really reinforces how little reason there actually is to shiny lock stuff imo and SwSh has among the most in the series. It's extremely annoying. Doesn't help that the game’s shiny hunting method is kinda eh, and wasn't properly figured out til ages after it's release.
So overall, I do think SwSh is a pretty flawed game, but I feel like it has a lot of strong aspects that get overlooked due to how initial reactions colored people's opinion on the game. Is it the best pokemon game? Not by a long shot imo. Is it still good though? I would say so yeah. I'd put it around B Tier I think. It has made me pretty interested to get to SV, which I'll have to do soon for the last few ribbons.

Happy 1 year anniversary to Gungrave G.O.R.E!
A lot of you are probably scratching your heads right now wondering what the hell this is. Well, let's just say that an obscure PS2 series made its return after almost 20 years of inactivity. And Gungrave G.O.R.E feels like it picks up right after 2004's Gungrave Overdose in all but graphics.
To briefly provide some context, Gungrave is a series of third-person shooter games and is the brainchild of Red Entertainment and Yasuhiro Nightow, creator of Trigun. The player assumes control of Beyond The Grave (Grave, for short), a corpse who has been resurrected to enact his revenge on the organization that had him killed and to destroy the drug that made all of this possible, Seed. Equipped with two hand cannons named Cerberus and a transforming coffin-shaped weapon named Death Hauler, the player engages in stylish gunplay inspired by the films of directors John Woo and Robert Rodriguez, with Grave himself bearing resemblance to Antonio Banderas's character El Mariachi from Desperado.
Despite the game seemingly being made on a rather small budget, Gungrave G.O.R.E features an alumni of legendary game producers, with Yasuhiro Nightow (Trigun) returning as image director, Ikumi Nakamura (Ghost of Tsushima) creating many of the character designs, Tetsuya Shibata (Devil May Cry) and Yoshino Aoki (Mega Man Battle Network) composing much of the soundtrack, and select cutscenes being animated by Digic Pictures (Assassin's Creed).
Gungrave G.O.R.E has had a rather unique development, being a console game developed by a South Korean studio, Iggymob. I encourage you to check out this video by Blue that goes a little bit into how Gungrave G.O.R.E came to be and why the fact that this is a Korean console game is more interesting than it may seem. They've included their sources in the description for further reading.
youtube
Looking at what director Kay Kim has had to say about Gungrave G.O.R.E's development, you can tell this was a game developed by the fans for the fans. When Gungrave G.O.R.E was first announced, it was slated to be an open-world game similar to Dark Souls. Later, taking influence from the likes of Metal Gear Rising, Bayonetta, and Devil May Cry, it was decided that the game would revert to its original linear mission-based structure. Kim has gone on record to say that the original open-world version of the game was "terrible" and expressed concern that this isn't what a Gungrave fan who has been waiting 20 years for another installment would want to play.
This is not something that a greedy businessman who bought the rights to a long-gone game series to cash in on nostalgia would ever care about. Gungrave G.O.R.E, whether it's a good game or a bad game, is a passion project before anything else. When this game first released last year, it was rough and naturally received patches over time. And these patches universally only heavily improved the game, such as making Grave's moveset more versatile, making the controls more accessible, and heavily altering levels to the point where some sections such as those that required Grave to platform were simply removed.
The game is in odd state at the moment. The original release on consoles and PC were published by Prime Matter, and earlier this year they released Gungrave G.O.R.E: Ultimate Enhanced Edition on the Nintendo Switch, which includes "over 100 changes" to the game including further improvements to the game's controls, further alterations to level design, new mechanics, and extra playable characters such as Gungrave Overdose's Rocketbilly Redcadillac, and Harry MacDowell. This is odd because not only are these magnitude of changes exclusive to U.E.E, which is only on Switch, Iggymob self-published this release.
I don't know what the future has in store for Gungrave or Studio Iggymob, but let us take today and every day after to celebrate that Gungrave G.O.R.E even happened because of them. Thank you for being the reason my new favorite game series made such a kick-ass return, and godspeed on future endeavors.

U don't have to reply publicly to this ask but I actually need to get this off my chest somewhere bc ur like one of the only public blogs that doesn't ship Aeon
But I saw this tiktok saying 'Wesker knew about Ada liking Leon from the beginning and had to take precautions' like what?? What precautions did he take he doesn't gaf about Leon... if he doubted Ada's ability to carry out a mission over a man she only met once then I don't think he would employ her again...
And the text they were using was from the original RE2 which is almost 30 years ago and they were applying it to the remakes. Like it literally said IN THE FILE that Ada was sent to retrieve Sherry and Leon also got the g-sample of Sherry. I said it wasn't canon because... it's not like that doesn't even happen in the remakes?? Leon hardly interacts with Sherry. Then loads of aeon shippers were saying it was canon and that 'the remakes don't completely change the story it's just a reboot!1!1!1!'
It's like... u seriously think something that was written TWENTY SIX years ago. Applies to games released in 2019 and 2023? U don't think the writers changed some aspects to make the games more realistic? Like the relationship has so clearly changed and I'm so sick of Ada x Leon shippers who change the relationship to fit their narrative. I like Leon and Ada together and I think they care for eachother but I don't even wanna say that because I don't wanna be associated with those people. They're all so aggressive too like
Sorry this is rlly long I just wanted to speak about it😭😭😭u don't need to reply if u don't have anything to say
hit them with operation javier. that always shuts them up. not a single aeon has a comeback for that.
i'm kidding leave them alone LMAO
like the operation javier thing is true but honestly leave them alone. you're not going to win against mob mentality. you're just not. you're creating more stress for yourself by trying. that's just the reality of modern-day fandom. no one ever has a reason to leave their echo chamber, so they don't, and they're hostile to anyone who invades it.
that's why i don't leave this blog. there's no point to it. i'd just be picking fights for the sake of picking a fight. and i don't want to fight with people. people are fucking stupid LMAO fighting with them would just damage my own braincells, because i'd be exposing myself to their brain damaged takes.
wesker does harp on ada about leon in OG SW, so that's where they're getting it from. and if they're so convinced that OG and Remake are the same timeline, like... again, you're not going to convince them. it's a whole cult mentality where they have to come to the information/understanding on their own; you can't force it on them.
because they clearly don't understand what the word "reboot" means. resident evil is probably the first big video game franchise they've followed. every reboot in every game series is a new timeline. the dante from DmC isn't the dante from the original devil may cry games. modern lara croft isn't PSX lara croft. and REmake leon and ada aren't OG leon and ada. that's how video game universes work. it's how they've always worked.
but if you don't really play video games, you don't know that.
and that's not our problem. what other people think/believe about a game canon doesn't actually affect our lives. so just let them be stupid. people have a right to their own stupidity. block them and move on with your life, because it's not worth it.

I would genuinely like to try out other prompts as well as seeking other fandoms to expand my roleplay base.
JJK is my highly and most requested anime to roleplay. And I absolutely love every concept of it and every prompt I’ve ever done as well as ever pairing I have to it. From the canon character x canon character, to the canon x oc, to the oc x oc.
I would like to attempt to expand my roleplay to the world of video games as well. Because I have a love for games and many characters in it. I figured it wouldn’t hurt to write concepts of characters in that world too. This could range from Final Fantasy to Resident Evil, and could even extend as far as games like COD men or even reach the fandom in roleplay to mortal kombat. Make an attempt possibly to reach the Arthur Morgan fangirls that are dying to write out storylines with him. I could make the attempt to reach my Zelda girls who are in love with link or possibly even prince Sidon. And even make the attempt to my Baldur's Gate, and stretch as far as devil may cry from Dante, to Vergil, to Nero. This is just a thought though and not entirely certain just yet. Or confirmed I’m gonna do it, but just my idea of the moment.
Another thing I want to discuss is mha, I would love to find more people still active and in love with this anime. I am willing to do ships of canon x canon, oc x oc, and canon x oc. Admittedly I’m very much in love playing Hitoshi Shinsou, he’s my go to character for roleplay since he was first introduced, and seeing his character growth is rather enjoyable, and helps me be able to bring more character into him in roleplay as well. I also don’t mind the canon x canon ships between characters in Class 1A, but do not ask me to roleplay if you are seeking adult x minor ship. Sadly, these ships still stand in the fandom and didn’t perish with the year, 2020. And I absolutely refuse to write it. Even if they are teenagers, they are still considered minors. Adult canon needs to stay shipped with adult oc or canon, and minor canon needs to stay shipped with minor oc or canon.
That’s about all I wanted to discuss!

❖ Call me Syn, Syna, or Raina, or whatever comes to mind when you think of me~ ( be nice, there ain't none of that negativity here ! ) I'll also respond to Smut Santa / Saint Dickolaus! 😉
❖ I'm 29, about to be 30. I'm afab and use female pronouns. Happy mama of 2 beautiful babes~ They come first before anything else, so if I don't get back to you in a timely manner or like... at all... that's why. Or maybe I just don't like you. ( nahhh that's not it ... ? )
❖ Previously went by Taqsyq, but after YEARS of being out of the writing game and just off of tumblr in general, I've decided to start over fresh. I started Taqsyq when I was like sixteen or seventeen, still in my nerdy emo girl phase fuck I still am, and there is a shit ton of things that I just wanna run away from when it comes to that blog/username, including some very bad memories that I'm not going to discuss publicly. Plus, again: seventeen, nerdy emo girl phase. Everything I wrote on that blog was the highest form of OOC cringe like you just saw a stripper accidentally slam her hoo-ha on a pole bullshit for me. The only reason I'm not deleting it is because I'm a memory hoarder and despite all the bad, I want to keep it for all the good that happened there as well. Besides, it's the account that I ran imagine-reborn (an imagines blog for Katekyo Hitman Reborn) under and I figured, if nothing else, I could get a few laughs and maybe even learn a thing or two from how god-awful teenage me was at writing.
❖ My rules are simple. Be kind to all: this is a safe zone for EVERYONE. I would like to keep it that way. I don't have a list for what I will and will not write (yet), so all I can tell you is: ask. My inbox is always open. If I don't feel comfortable writing something, I'll let you know!
❖ Minors: as of right now, I don't think I'll be posting anything that is safe for your consumption, so I would very much appreciate it if you did not interact. If you are not a minor and do not have an age indicator, this rule applies to you as well. I check my follower list daily and I WILL block anyone that does not adhere to this rule.
❖ Requests: Closed ( not for long. I promise ;D )
❖ Currently, I only write for Hazbin Hotel. But I'm open for discussion on anything else on my list down below! I'm always looking for something new to watch/read, so if you have any recommendations, fire away!
❖ Series ; Current Hyperfixation: Hazbin Hotel
Anime : Naruto ; InuYasha ; Death Note ; Bleach ; Hellsing ; Soul Eater ; Fruits Basket ; D.Gray-Man [ Original / Hallow ] ; Kuroshitsuji ; Katekyo Hitman Reborn ; Ao No Exorcist ; Yu Yu Hakusho ; Full Metal Alchemist ; One Piece* ; Shingeki No Kyojin ; Kimetsu No Yaiba ; Jujutsu Kaisen**
* Still trying to catch up. This is a massive anime, and I've spent the better half of this past year trying to watch it all. I've made it to the Raid on Onigashima, the part where Yamato got his bracelets removed. Love him, by the way! <3
** Nanaminnnn~! I am not okay about anything with this man. <3
Manga / Manhwa : Everything mentioned above ; Noblesse ; Bloody Cross ; Area D
TV : Hazbin Hotel ; Helluva Boss ; Game Of Thrones ; Vikings ; Avatar: The Last Airbender ; The Legend Of Korra ; Supernatural
Books : A Song Of Ice & Fire ; Twilight Saga why did teenage me think it was the greatest series ever shoot me now fucking christ
Video Games : Final Fantasy Series + Individual Prequels, Sequels, Movies, Remakes* [ 7 / 9 / 10 / 13 / 15** ] ; Tales Of Series [ Legendia / Zestiria / Berseria / Arise ] ; Devil May Cry Series ; Kingdom Hearts Series*** ; Star Ocean Series [ Till The End Of Time / The Divine Force ] ; The Legend Of Zelda [ A Link To The Past ] ; Sonic Series ; Spyro Series ; Shining Force Series [ 1 / 2 ] ; Lufia Series [ Fortress Of Doom / Rise Of The Sinistrals ] ; Diablo 3 ; Lunar [ Silver Star Story Complete ] ; Infinite Undiscovery ; to be updated as I remember / play.
* So far, I've only played the first installment of Final Fantasy 7 Remake because I currently do not own a PS5, but I'm working on it. The Compilation of Final Fantasy 7 is my absolute favorite series of all time. I could watch Advent Children ( original and complete ) on repeat, and I've played the original release so many times that I don't even need a guide to get a 100% on a brand new save ( Obsessed much? Yup ). I'm a completionist at heart, and this game is amazing and it provides a massive sense of nostalgia for me.
** SLIGHT SPOILER (maybe? You've been warned) Another amazing installment in the Final Fantasy series, this game is so well written in my opinion. It stays away from the bigger cliches you see in most RPGs ( eg : the guy gets the girl, friendship is the key to saving the world, etc. ), the characters are so individually complex, the villain technically wins and reminds you how easy it would be for you to become the same type of monster. Plus badass women that fix your car, lights up entire cities, wakes up the fucking Gods to fight on your side, takes the entire mercenary army they led and defects to your side? IN HEELS? YES PLEASE. It has one of the best enemy turned ally characters in the FF series; I'm just disappointed we didn't get to see much of Aranea after everything in Tenebrae. Also Ardyn has some serious daddy vibes, and I would literally give my left tit just to lick Aranea's boot ( oh, the things I would do to these two, phew~ ).
*** Let's be real here. The Kingdom Hearts Series makes zero sense if you didn't play all of them and you didn't pay attention to each and every detail, and I did neither. I played 2 and 3 when they originally came out, but in my defense: it doesn't look like a series that follows a singular story, something that I did not know at the time, and usually the series I play have an entirely different story per installment ( eg : Final Fantasy and Tales Of ). I tried to piece together the story from online synopses and second hand game play ( I watched someone else play ), and it just didn't work out. So, suffice to say, my knowledge of Kingdom Hearts goes about as far as basic facts regarding Organization XIII because they were my whole reason for trying the games in the first place. I'm still open to discussion about it, though! Just keep in mind my side will be very limited. Sorry!
To Be Read / Watched / Played : Phantasy Star Series ; Final Fantasy Series [ 1-6 / 8 / 11-12 / 14 / 16 ] ; Diablo 4 ; Black Clover ; Hell's Paradise ; Fairy Tale ; The Seven Deadly Sins ; My Hero Academia
❖ Look out below for a face reveal!

Ahhh idk if I'm an expert on that, I don't even know if I'm qualified to call myself a "gamer" cause I haven't played that many yet! So I'll recommend my favs in order starting from 'I love it to I'm fucking obsessed'
7) Modern Warfare 2 (2022)
6) Devil May Cry 5
5) Devil May Cry 3 (old but gold!!!!! My first game:( i miss it so much)
4) Modern Warfare 1 (2019) (I love the missions and the characters, I'd put it below dmc3 but I haven't played that one in a while so I'll leave mw1 here)
3) The Last of Us 1 (masterpiece)
2) The Last of Us 2 (yes, I prefer the 2nd one bc I'm a simp tho as a game the 1st one is better)
1) Red Dead Redemption 2 (I'm convinced nothing will ever top this for me nor as a game/story)
