Jaya: A re-telling of the Mahabharata
Tumblr media
Jaya by Devdutt Pattanaik is a re-telling of the Hindu mythology Mahabharata. The writing style is colloquial and yet manages to capture the essence of the story. The author includes the various regional variations of the Mahabharata as one reads to get a better view of the vast spectrum of knowledge and teachings that the Mahabharata carries. A retelling, unbiased by personal opinion, and giving out the different understandings of moral values by different stories encourages the reader to think and understand the value of actions and reactions. A simple and comprehensible book, I rate it a 9/10!

Let’s take a good look at the spin…
Of how natural law, became patriarchal law…
This power that woman holds in her body…
To create life, from her substance…her flesh & her blood…
To commune with the realms…
To see, intuitively…
Is a great threat
For the law & order
Of the linear mind
She produces chaos—
In periods—
Because from chaos—
She can create something—
Altogether new…
And when she circles with other women when the moon is dark, she makes a lot of noise indeed—
Blood & menstruation to the ancients, was a break in status quo order, & was seen to be the making of noise—
The women coming together in circle around the communal hut in noisy ritual—
The ritual of heightened awareness
Of feelings being surfaced
in bodily movement & song—
What wildness, this chaos-making is?
From which the women come back, producing order from their communal noise
She brings back knowledge & culture from the blood altered state—
For man this became a growing insult, to be seen with eyes that are wise & knowing— How painful…
And if she chooses her partner for the full moon, at ovulation, surely some men will have more than others?
Wounds fester & grow, until resentment & anger becomes violence & force to get…
To tame, to domesticate, to subdue the intuitive wildness, to control, dominate
To claim the power
Patriarchal law originates in a primary wound, call it anxiety, & patriarchal law perpetuates anxiety
Because he has to learn the truth of the power he wants—
The power is his consciousness
The power is his heart
His seeing—
The acceptance that he as child of Mother Consciousness
Has never been left out
And is always, already, fully seen
By her

𝘛𝘪𝘵𝘭𝘦:- 𝘔𝘺 𝘎𝘪𝘵𝘢 🎗𝘈𝘶𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘳:- 𝘋𝘦𝘷𝘥𝘶𝘵𝘵 𝘗𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘪𝘬 🎗𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯:- 🔸My Gita by Devdutt Pattanaik is a contemporary approach to present Bhagwat Geeta most simply. 🌠 🔸He explained every aspect of Gita by giving his touch that's why it is called my Gita. In this book, the author talked about the ideas in Bhagavad Gita and their applications in modern life. 🌠 🎗𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥? 🔸Many of us fear to read Gita and feel that it's too spiritual and not for all. But no, everyone should read it at least once in their life and so my Gita is also a book similar to Bhagwat Geeta where every chapter focuses on a particular theme of Gita like observation, rebirth, Karma, etc.🌠 🔸He beautifully described all the three major yogas Karam, Bhakti and Gyan in his terms very well. He used illustrations and many mythological stories to connect the readers properly and deliver the exact message of the Gita. 🌠 🔸At the end of this book, he concluded his thoughts and left us with a strong message of learning and growing to destroy all the negative energies present in us. 🌠 🎗𝘚𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘴:- 🌠•Those who believe in karma do not blame. They do not judge. They accept that humans live in a sea of consequences, over which there is limited control. So they accept every moment as it is supposed to be. They act without expectation. 🌠•Each moment is a fruit of the past and a seed of the future. 🌠•The greatest human fear is validation. 🎗𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴:- 🔸Everyone, but those who are the followers and who are Heartily attached with the Bhagavad-Gita then they should read my Gita. Maybe the modern presentation of Geeta will touch your heart. 🌠 🔸It is an enlightening guide for all the seekers who want nourishment for their souls. The concept of this book will help us to grow spiritually. 🌠 #devduttpattanaik #devdutt #mygita #bhagwatgeeta #bhagwadgita #spiritualjourney #spiritualgrowth #devduttpattanaikbooks #devduttpattanaikbook #devduttpattanaikshow #devduttpattanaikofficial #stoicmindfulness #bookrevolution #bookaholic #instablackandwhite #instabooks #instagrambooks #bookblogger https://www.instagram.com/p/CTd83FCrFFF/?utm_medium=tumblr

Radha Tantra By | Devdutt Pattanaik | Indian Author About 400 years ago, a Shakta text was composed in Sanskrit language, probably in Bengal. It was called Radha Tantra. It was a response to the rising tide of the Chaitanya Vaishnava movement, where Krishna is the supreme divine being and Radha is the subordinate. From the 12th century onwards, we have seen the rise of Radha as a character, dominating the bevy of gopikas who dance around Krishna, thanks to the composition of Geet Govind by Jaydev, around the Puri temple. This song brings a tantrik flavour to the bhakti of Krishna. The inclusion of the erotic, at the time, was in direct contrast to the monastic Vedantic tradition that was spreading widely in Hinduism. The Radha Tantra, composed a few centuries later, elaborates on this anti-monastic flavour. It talks of how Vishnu one day comes to Shiva and seeks a Maha Mantra. He gets it and chants it in Kashi, but it does not work. So, he returns to Kailash. This time, it is the goddess w... https://human-engineers.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/GA-Devdutt-2.jpg https://human-engineers.com/radha-tantra/?feed_id=13841&_unique_id=61262f64043db https://human-engineers.com/radha-tantra/?feed_id=13841&_unique_id=61262f64043db

Book 123 of 2021. Next for #IndianBooksinAugust I read this beautiful book about my favourite God. Wait, I shouldn't have a favourite God but how can you not love Krishna? The most human, nuanced and delightful God. He feels like a real person, a friend and someone you can talk to about anything. This darling little book tells us stories about Krishna's childhood and his many adventures. A great introduction to Krishna for your kids and this is a colouring book too! What fun! A review for this book is up on the blog. Link in bio. Go see.
