He likes sweet stuff in general, it's just flan that drives his senses crazy is his fav

Also is he a trash who eats even the most trash low quality desserts, like, "will eat anything", or only high quality ones

Eelai & Desty Nova

Eelai was born a devil. Desty Nova used to be an angel. Things got unprofessional; much more unprofessional than just a kiss. A devil and an angel conceiving a child togather was an almost unthinkable sacrilege. To lessen the impact of the sacrilegious wave, the act was committed in human form. It worked and Eelai was allowed to remain a devil. After all, what is the job of a devil if not to find ways to slither around regulations? Nova left the angelic ranks and joined the devils.

Having switched sides gave Nova an inflated sense of invincibility. He wasn’t vengeful, but he was curious and he was merciless. He would mess with humans, often just to see how far he could push his powers before either the VETO or the Low and High Spheres stopped him. The other times, it was to study their behavior in extreme situations. To study their brains. Eelai is still a guardian devil and a sadistic one at that.

Because Nova was still an angel at the time he commited the sacrilege with Eelai, their first born son Kaos was a naturaly born neutral. Their second son Den is fully a devil. Because of his heritage however, he might not be considered fully really a devil, similarly to how Raf isn’t fully really an angel.

Sadly, there's almost no fan content for this ship. Generally, for most ships. It's a small fandom, not very ship oriented and what little shipping discourse you'll find is around Alita's love life, not side ships like NovIdo.

I ship this in the manga, but not the movie version. The characters are too different and so is the context of this relationship.

I still recommend watching the movie. (It's what got me to read the manga.) Kishiro himself liked it. But don't expect Nova to eat flan onscreen.

As much as I know that's not why, a part of me that genuinely ships this is trying to convince me they mostly gave Ido a wife in the movie to make him more straight.

Also, just imagine how funny this exact position would look if their relative heights were swapped (like in the manga where Ido's tall and Nova is short).

idk I always thought it was a fun subversion of the gendered “female character is unable to hurt the protagonist because of her maternal instincts” trope that towards the end of Battle Angel Alita, Desty ends up fucking himself over when he tries to psychologically neutralize Gally in a life simulation by inadvertently conditioning himself to think of her as his daughter and thus can’t bring himself to kill her
