Finally colored an artwork of mine fer realsies though since it’s my first time, I know it isn’t that great. Still, it was an interesting learning experience. Not to mention colouring took a buttload of time than drawing. Then again, it’s probably cause it’s my first time trying. Plus I figured I’d add something on the background because there’s too much space. I’m not sure if the skin tone is right though I’m just basing Desmond’s skin tone with Magi’s Sharkkan. ‘Tis is probably a little off since I’m still learning and Paint Tool SAI didn’t allow me to use eyedrop on a photo. ¯\_ʘᗜʘ_/¯ @mortalheroseries

I’m on a roll today so I figured I’d draw @mortalheroseries first introduced RO, Desmond as I see him. I feel like Desmond has an undercut hairstyle on account of his rebelliousness (it’s not canon though so I might be wrong (/ε＼*) ehehehe) I figured a side profile works best on account of his piercings. That said, Mortal Hero is one of my favorite WIP interactive fictions. Technically I like all the ROs based from the tidbits I’ve read so far. It would be hard to pick hahaha. Definitely looking forward to future updates.

Desmond what exactly do you like in a kind and responsive MC. Won't they be your opposite?

He smiles, threads his fingers through his hair, and then turns his gaze to you. Lights overhead flicker and for a moment you manage to convince yourself that it's sunlight. He takes a step forward and your hands freeze on the metal bars; another step and suddenly you feel so much smaller than you ever have.

And then he's in front of you.

He's at your eye level, kneeling on the concrete with a look more genuine than you imagined him capable of. "Kindness is never something to be shunned." You didn't even see him move; one moment he was still and the next he had your jaw gripped so tight you couldn't even think to move.

"But what good is kindness when it's matched with passiveness? A kind intent, a kind thought..." He laughs and his fingers flex against your skin. "They're worth nothing without the courage to act."

His grip is gone, you can breathe again, and then he's turned away. When he's at the bottom of the stairs he looks at you, a glimmer in emerald eyes. "And who is to say I'm not kind, your Godliness?"

Throbbing, bleeding, aching pain that radiates from every pore in his skin. Blood drips from the place where piercings once sat; a parting gift from a Hero of Thor who had been surprisingly competent.

“Desmond!” They smelt of sunshine and looked of forgiveness and felt like hope. For the first time in a very long time...Desmond found himself willing to let that feeling of hope permeate through his whole being.

Marble cracks beneath his feet as he walks, wind howling around him with the ferocity of a hurricane. Another Hero jumps in his path as his steps carry him toward the Meeting Hall; there’s fear in this Hero’s eyes and Desmond almost feels pity for them when the magic curls from around him and crushes the Hero in its grip.

He can feel their skin beneath his fingers, feel heat blooming in his chest, and he finds himself clutching them even tighter. “Don’t leave me, MC.” The words are mumbled, whispered against their shoulder as he curls against their back.

A bullet tears through Desmond’s skin, jaw bone racked with agony as the bullet grazes his cheek, and glowing green eyes turn to the unfortunate Hero who had fired the shot. There’s two of them, two Heroes standing side-by-side. Except Desmond knows one of them isn’t really there. His Hero is gone.

“Desmond!” The sound of MC’s voice had him sprinting up the stairs from his basement. The door clicked shut behind him just as MC came around the corner and he smiled at them; whatever suffering experienced in that basement long forgotten in their presence.

Desmond’s bloodied fist tears a necklace from a nearby Hero, crushing the stone in his palm with the ease of a child squishing silly putty. His thoughts lingered on the necklace they wore, his Hero, the one he’d given them. If his MC was gone then so too, would be the cause of their disappearance.

How would each RO react if the MC rolled over in the middle of the night and asked them "Do you like me, or like like me?"

Alexander: He’s blinking sleep from his eyes, clutching you tighter around the waist. “I’d die for you.”

“Yeah,” You mumble the words against his chest. “But you said that before we started dating.” The sound of his breathing almost lulls you to sleep before you hear his second response.

“Then I’d kill for you, if you asked me to.”

Hui Yin: It takes a few minutes to wake her up but when you do, and upon seeing the murderous look in her eyes, you almost lose your nerve. Still you persist, letting the question slip from your lips. You watch her narrow her eyes a bit before she’s sprawling herself halfway on top of you. “You ask the dumbest questions sometimes, you know that?”

You can feel her smile against your neck as she pulls you tighter into her embrace.

Taylor: They yawn sleepily in your face when you wake them only to immediately clap their hand over their mouth. “I’m sorry, MC. What was the question…?”

You repeat the words, nosing against the side of their face and breathing the scent of spearmint and old books that was uniquely them. “Oh,” They mumble against your cheek before curling deeper into your arms. “Of course I like-like you!”

Rania: She blinks her eyes open slowly and you’re once again struck by how…gorgeous she is. She just woke up and yet looks as though she just walked off a runway…

In a moment she’s pressing a kiss against your forehead, cooing sweet words into your ear. “I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t, gameel.”

Kazu: He’s still awake and in the middle of mediation or conversing with his father; you can never tell which. Still, you mumble the words if for no other reason than to simply dislodge them from your throat. When he doesn’t react you crawl back beneath the blankets, pulling them up to your chin, and closing your eyes to try and coerce yourself back to sleep.

You nearly scream when you feel his chilled arms snaking around you from behind. “Like-like, of course.”

Aquila: She’s typing something and writing something down on fancy parchment that you can feel magical energy radiating from when you mumble the question. She stills, turning to look at you with eyes swirling with so many emotions you can’t manage to name them all, before you catch sight of her hesitant smile. “I love you, MC. That’s something you won’t have to ever worry about.”

Desmond: He’s awake though it’s not something you realize until you see glowing green eyes peering at you through the darkness. You can see something in his eyes, some unknown emotion that seems deeper than you can comprehend, but then he smiles and it’s gone. “I’ve only ever loved three people in my life, you know. I’ve only really liked a handful.” He brushes his fingers across your cheek and you’re surprised at the heat.

“My sisters, my mother….and you, are the only things that have ever mattered to me.”

Amateratsu: She’s staring at the canopy of the bed, watching the myriad of shifting colors, when your question reaches her ears. You notice her tense, notice her hand shift to the golden cord wrapped around her wrist, and then hear her laugh. “After all the time you spent convincing me of your feelings…I suppose it is my turn now, isn’t it?” The gold in her eyes seems to burn and the smile she wears seems to match.

“Like-like, sweet Hero.”

Raphael: He’s wrapped around you, his wings substituting blankets during the cold night of Chicago, when you mumble the question half asleep into his ear. As soon as it’s out you can feel it; the distinctive shift in the atmosphere as he curls tighter around you. “MC…” Your bleary eyes open to and you see his warm eyes burning with something akin to grief and desperation. “I am sorry…for making you doubt me for so long, for making you feel like I…MC.”

You feel his fingertips glide across your cheek. “I will love you; for the rest of my eternity.”

Mercury: You’re watching him from the corner of your eyes, his breathing even and his eyes shut, and not for the first time you feel doubt creep into you. The words are out before you can stop them. You don’t expect a response, at least not right away. So when you hear his laugh it prickles across your skin like thorns; “Of course I like-like you, you have such appealing qualities~”

You sigh, twisting over in bed and pulling a pillow over your head. Why did you expect him to take this even a little bit seriously? You try to force yourself to focus on falling asleep but your mind refuses to cooperate. Maybe if you just…The feeling of arms wrapping around you has you struggling instinctively; but then you hear the soft snickering coming from behind you and you sag in the grip of your Patron. “My sweet Hero, I…” His words trail off but you feel the gentle press of his lips on your neck.

Guanyin: They’re lecturing their dragons in Chinese, shaking their head with exasperation apparent in their tone. The words leave your lips before you can think better of it and suddenly you have three sets of eyes on you. Laughing nervously you avert your gaze, turning to stare at the canopy above the bed. “Don’t think anything of it, Guanyin-”

Your words are cut off as you find yourself pulled into the arms of your Patron, surrounded by the bodies of two dragons. “Yunqi,” Guanyin’s hands brush across your cheeks. “I love you, Yunqi.”

Hemera: She’s barely awake when you ask the question but her response is immediate; she wraps you up in her arms and guides your head to her shoulder. “It’s sometimes easy to forget how young you are…” You feel her lips brush softly against the top of your head. “Like-like, of course.”

Horus: He’s sitting up in bed, still awake doing...something. Every few minutes a hawk will fly in through the window, land on your Patron’s shoulder or outstretched arm, remain there a few moments, and then fly off. A smile breaks over your face as you mumble the question...and then you almost scream at the piercing green eyes that peer at you from the darkness. “These are...human terms of endearment, correct? Like-like is better than like, I assume. So that’s the answer I will give.”

Nero: He’s asleep, back turned to you, and so the question almost dies on your tongue. Almost. You feel heat swelter around you as Nero wakes, turning the full brunt of his gaze on you as the lights flicker to life in the room. “You would wake me up with such a petty question, wouldn’t you?” He places his hand on your jaw in a light hold, staring at you with something akin to amusement and irritation.

“Do you know what demons do to rise in my father’s ranks? It should be rather obvious by now; they kill the competition. Do you know when the easiest time to kill someone is?” His hand falls lower to rest lightly around your neck, palm resting over the pulse-point of your throat. The temperature returns to normal as he pushes you softly back into the mass of pillows. “In their sleep. With their back turned. Only those I truly trust have the privilege of sleeping with me like this.” A moment later and the lights die out.

Nadia: She’s snoring, loudly, and lying on her stomach.So you clamber on top of her, knees on either side of her, and shake her wildly. It still takes several minutes for her become conscious enough for her to register that you’re trying to wake her. It’s another several minutes later that you make her coherent enough to understand your question. “Huh...?” She grins at you, a sleepy and open grin that has you smiling in return. “O’course I like-like you, MC.” She holds out her arms for you, pulling you in and wrapping herself around you.

As you’re drifting off, you hear her mumble against your skin. “I’ll always love you MC...”

Anthony: His eyes are bloodshot from too much gaming that night so waking him up makes you feel just the tiniest bit guilty. Still, despite the confused mumbling, he wakes and looks at you expectantly. You repeat the question as he burrows into you; his head nuzzles your chest before his mind seems to catch up with your words. He bolts up, staring at you with red tinted cheeks, and stumbles over his words. “Oh! I, uh, definitely like-like you. Do you, I mean would you, I mean...Do you, uh, like-like me?”

You give him your answer in the form of a kiss.

Aurora: You’ve come to learn that the night was a very...active time for your girlfriend. She’s sitting in the middle of her bedroom at the Seelie Court while you bundle yourself beneath the quilt on the queen-sized bed, watching her pore over what could only be classed as a complete mess of various parchments. There’s scrolls, napkins, even a few leafs from what you’ve seen...

The question comes out and she barely pauses when she delivers her answer. “I’m intrigued to see how your story ends, little life.” That’s the only answer you receive.

Luis: It’s one of the good nights; his withdrawals aren’t crippling him with pain or wrecking havoc on his emotions. He’s lying on your bed, wrapped in one of your blankets, and fingers griping one of your wrists even in his sleep. The question carries so much more for the two of you, given your history. Yet his eyes open almost immediately. They glow for a moment, chocolate brown turning to a violet purple, before they return to normal.

His breathing steadies out and his arms curl around your waist. “You are everything to me, MC. But now...I’m trying...I will make you see my devotion. I am not who I was.”

Loren: Tonight she’s sleeping in her jaguar form. Or wait, her jaguar form has come out to sleep tonight. You’re still fuzzy on how to appropriately differentiate between the human and animal parts of a shifter. Still, the question comes out and you see a pair of hazel eyes gleam in the moonlight. The jaguar moves toward you, almost stalking toward you, before lying across your lap. You know jaguars can’t purr...yet the rumbling of Loren’s jaguar feels like it.

"Desmond! Come here, I want cuddles."

Desmond: He curses as the Al-mi’raj lunges at him once again, rattling it’s cage to the point a lesser person might be concerned; but Desmond was no fool. Desmond’s first security system kicks in and he watches the small creature fall limp, collapsing on the bed of straw in a dreamless sleep. That’s when he hears your voice and any other thought he might have is forgotten. He rushes up the stairs, two at a time, and shuts the basement door as quietly as possible.

Deep green eyes fall on you and Desmond can’t help but smile. He weaves between the racks, shelves, and various other stands toward you. Silent, steady, he wraps an arm around your waist and softly cups a hand over your mouth. “Shh,” His hand falls away and his arm hangs loosely around your shoulders. “Your desire is mine.”
