Jaewar - Dreams (Featuring Ev33 and Ti Ames)

Jaewar recently teamed up with Ev33 and Ti Ames, known for their work with the Vibe Riot group. These talented artists came out with a new single titled “Dreams,” which combines exciting neo-soul influences with elements as diverse as reggae, hip-hop, and a lot more.

The first thing you’ll notice is the world-class quality of this production. The vocals have a crisp smoothness, which definitely sets the bar higher in terms of excellence and magnitude. The beat is punchy and unapologetic, with a crunchy midrange and a deep low end, adding a massive sense of weight to the mix. Overall, the mix of great vocal melodies and amazing instrumental hooks is pure genius, and the song’s definitely got THAT fire!

Fans of artists as diverse as Erykah Badu, Nas, Lauryn Hill, and Bob Marley will definitely connect with the lush sound of this release.

I love how you manage to render your tracks so personal and organic. Does the melody come first, or do you focus on the beat the most?

Answer: Thanks Andrea! We started with a beat and melody from Grammy nominated producer Desi Hyson. We then came up with some vocal melodies and then came lyrics to the chorus. The verses were next. Then we basically sampled the original track keeping the bassline and parts of the high frequency. The rest was creating drums and layers to make the song dramatically ebb and flow. The bridge was icing on the cake!

Do you perform live? If so, do you feel more comfortable on a stage or within the walls of the recording studio?

Answer: We are slightly more at home live with an audience, but we feel that more recently our production has been able to recreate the energy of the live show within the walls of the studio.

If you could only pick one song to make a “first impression” on a new listener, which song would you pick and why?

Answer: We think “Dreams” is that track for us right now! We have a lot of songs that we think can make a great impression like “Waddup” or “Peace of Mind”, but we think the production of “Dreams” has a sonic quality that has raised our bar.

What does it take to be “innovative” in music?

Answer: You have to learn, try, and take risks. There are always experienced musicians, engineers, producers telling you the right way and wrong way and “what’s good” or not. Once you know what the “rules” are break 1 or 3!

Any upcoming release or tour your way?

Answer: We are looking to finish an EP in the spring followed by a tour to promote it.
