a couple of years ago, i started having an allergic reaction. i broke out in hives on my legs, and i could not stop scratching. i would wake up in the middle of the night because i had drawn blood. i would sit on my couch and itch and itch and itch. now, i’ve never had this kind of reaction before; as far as i knew i wasn’t allergic to anything other than nickel, which i obviously didn’t have on or around me in any way. i knew whatever it was was in my apartment, because i didn’t itch at work or anywhere else, but i couldn’t figure it out. i hadn’t changed any soaps or fabrics or anything recently.
so i went to my GP, who shrugged and immediately sent me to a dermatologist. this was great to me, because i wanted an allergy test. from onset of itching to seeing this dermatologist, it was probably about four weeks, and while the itching waxed and waned, i was still covered in scabs when i finally saw someone who could help.
so i get my appointment, and i explain to the dermatologist what the problem is. less than a minute into the appointment, she interrupts me. that’s not a real thing i’m describing, she says. it’s not possible.
she takes my arm, and she runs a wooden
i don’t know, tongue depressor? down my arm. it immediately raises in an angry red line.
“you overproduce histamine. take a claritin”
i’ve never had a problem like this before, i say. i would like to get a general allergy test.
“it would be a waste of time. if you are still itching after the claritin, then maybe in another eight weeks.” and she leaves. i waited four weeks and she saw me for about five minutes.
i’m angry, but i take the claritin. it’s incredibly dehydrating on top of the other meds i take, so i take it for a few days and quit.
the itching
recedes. it’s on and off. it doesn’t get as bad as it was in those first few weeks again. i look up what she’s written in my chart. urticaria, common name hives. she diagnosed me with hives. no explanation for why i had a spontaneous outbreak of hives. i simply had hives.
there’s another thing, listed at the bottom, “dermatographic component.” i look up dermatographia. “dermatographia is harmless,” the mayo clinic says, “most people who have this condition do not need treatment. It tends to be more common in teens and young adults.” I am thirty, and I do need treatment. There’s one more thing in my chart: “Urticaria education provided and all questions answered.” Really. News to me.
I am SO frustrated, but the itching isn’t bad enough anymore to keep pursuing it. i am defeated. i still think about it, occasionally, on and off. She is right, about the dermatographia. It’s the cause of what they call “skin writing.” But if I redo that test, making a red line along my arm or even on my leg where the hives were, it doesn’t itch enough for me to scratch it to bloodiness. But I still don’t have any good answers about why, for about two months, I broke out in hives so bad I had to be fully clothed every second of my day.
unrelated to that, i just read about an autoimmune condition that causes you to have random allergic reactions apropos of nothing. it’s fine. no big deal!

Artist research, Ariana page Russel
Through my interest in developing my idea more on the physical flesh side rather than the emotional side, I looked into the artist Ariana page Russel who uses her dermatographic urticaria as one of her mediums for her art, Drawing into her skin with knitting needles to create these designs and then documenting through film as they fade away.

Ok, I know this topic is kind of old already, but even if it sounds conspiranoic (?), Im going to ask anyway
(Down here Im leaving a small story time, but you can continue scrolling if you dont want to read much)
This kind of came back into my mind, because I always thought it was kind of curious how everyone would discuss the vaccines secondary effects, saying they got more allergic than before or stuff like that, yet it didnt affect me at all. But the more they would ask me, and the more I would think about it, all that would come to my mind is that my allergies got better?
Before I got vaccinated (and for as long as I could remember) I used to have skin allergies. But kind of like, urticaria? For no reason at all. And when I was a kid it was way worse, like dermatographism, to the point I would draw with my allergies lmao. Which as I grew up kinda got better, yet it was common for me to get allergy scratches like, at least twice a week.
And once I got vaccinated they... stopped appearing? Like, literally? I would get one or two scratches per month at most after my first vaccine, which I thought was cool but just a temporal thing, yet idk if its because I got vaccinated more than once, but with time, it just completely stopped after a while?
And yesterday was like, the first time I got a small allergy scratch since 2020. Which Im saying was small, because it lasted like 3 minutes (at most) and then completely disappeared. Which was like, surpising tbh.
I dont think there has been any strong medical change, diet change, or anything special that could have caused my allergies to stop so suddenly back then, so I just kind of guess it could have been the vaccine (specially since I didnt get any other vaccines that werent the covid ones).
So yeah, I just kind of wanted to see if anyone else felt anything different or not.

Dermatographic urticaria, not normal. Could be a symptom of MCAS or similar conditions, but could also be for A Secret Third Reason (idiopathic/unknown cause). Important and you need to tell your doc about it because one, it could be a symptom of something bigger going on, two, there are treatment options you may be offered that'll make your life easier.
hiii ok i dont think i have MCAS but im curious if this is a symptom of that (or something similar?) or if its normal, because idk if i should bring it up to my dr or not!
so, i think its call skin writing? like, with barely any pressure, if i run my nail across my skin, it turns red and sometimes swells slightly, with very mild itchiness.
is that something my dr needs to know about? im genuinely asking because i have a ridiculously hard time knowing whats important or not and i usually assume its all nothing but im trying to be better about that
(using a few extra tags for reach)

Fun fact
On top of my naturally pink skin and tan color (cuz my father was a light skinned columbian), I have dermatographia (dermatographic urticaria)
This means if I lightly graze my skin or put too much pressure on it for more than a few seconds, it turns red and apears welted. Even small patterns in clothes or crevices in sheets show up on my skin for about 10-15 minutes after they make contact!
This is due to an elevated level of histamine (a chemical in your body usually used as a reaction to allergens or stress) being released via skin contact. This hormone is also responsible for welts and burns swelling, and is associated with environmental anxiety, allergies, and even some medications (among other things).
Some people get this temporarily when they're having an allergic reaction or fighting an infection, while others (like me) have this all the time. It's not all fun and games though, because it gives a mild burning sensation and becomes irritably itchy (think: a mosquito bite)
Like others with simaler conditions, my skin reacts heavily to things like makeup, skin-adjacent jewlary, or tightly fit textured clothes, so I try not to wear these too often at home to not illicit a reaction. Skin sensitivities often coincide with other skin conditions, so its important to know what causes reactions to your body before wearing or applying anything to your skin.
Some people have simaler conditions, at various severities, that can be extremely annoying or painful. As it usually goes hand-in-hand with other histamine related conditions, many doctors prescribe an antihistamine (you might find this in various allergy meds) for people to have periods of relief.
Just remember, next time you see a person with marks on their bodies, dont automatically assume its something like a hickey or self harm unless you have other reasons to believe so.
Theres other skin conditions like mine, even unrelated to dermatographia that have similar appearances or outcomes, so no matter what a person looks like, try not to judge them!
Edit: picture taken seconds after touching, it develops into a rash or welt over time

Here a female patient at the SalpĂȘtriĂšre hospital in Paris has had her diagnosis 'DĂ©mence prĂ©coce' (dementia praecox) 'written' on her back.
The woman is likely to have dermatographic urticaria or dermographism, a condition in which the skin becomes inflamed or raised when scratched or rubbed, producing visible marks; a condition that affects a small but significant number of people.
At the time that the picture was taken, at the SalpĂȘtriĂšre hospital in Paris, there was a mistaken belief that this phenomenon of ‘skin writing’ was a manifestation of a psychological disorder; hence the diagnosis of dementia praecox, a psychotic disorder. In fact the condition is caused by a weakness in the membranes around mast cells in the skin, causing them to release histamines, in a similar fashion to an allergic reaction. If diagnosis and understanding have improved, the habit of demonstrating the diagnosis by writing on the back persists.
From the Wellcome Collection ‘Skin’ exhibition
‘Skin’ invited visitors to re-evaluate the largest and probably most overlooked human organ and consider its changing significance – from anatomical analysis during the 16th century to contemporary artistic exploration.
The exhibition took a philosophical approach to its subject across four themes – Objects, Marks, Impressions and Afterlives – first looking at the skin as frontier between the inside and outside of the body. It moved on to explore skin as a living document: tattoos, scars, wrinkles and various pathologies all tell the story of our life so far. Finally, skin was considered as an organ sensitive to touch and delicate threshold between life and death.

Living with Psoriasis
These are all old photos from my past blogs. I don't have any updated ones, but yeah I still have red and white patches on my legs and arms. & I'm an inactive member of PSORPHIL. Haven't posted anything psor related for years, so here you go.
I was diagnosed with Psoriasis in the year 2007. I was only 14. I know next to nothing about the disease. I was never confident in my own skin. I had lots of doubts and insecurities even before I was diagnosed. I kept on wishing I had this kind of body or that I had fair flawless skin and so on. My faith in myself was nonexistent. I refrained from joining social events and activities in school. I was a wallflower and I still am. I tried to get away from the attention because I was too afraid of what others might think of me. It was bad. My way of thinking at such a young age was messed up. Now having this skin condition made me feel much worse than I already did back then.
Psoriasis is a lifetime disease. It is chronic and there's still no cure for it. There are tons of treatments to avoid triggers but it differs from person to person. I was honestly overwhelmed when we found out. I was only 14 and in my second year in high school. My mother was in denial at first. She kept on saying it was only an allergy, that I got it from swimming pools or this or that. She had endless assumptions. We just couldn't fully accept that it is hereditary. My parents don’t know someone who has it in the family. Well, maybe my ancestors had this ailment. Who knows?
I, too, was in denial. Every night I kept on asking myself, “Why me? Of all the people, why me?”. It still pains me to see myself covered in red scaly itchy patches and also having to experience other skin conditions such as Dermatographic Urticaria. It was tough for me and my family with all the medication and financial stuff we had to deal with just to “cure” me. Thankfully, I got rid of it, only for a while. (Psoriasis may go into remission. The symptoms may not be visible for a period of time, but it will always come back again when triggered. It is a never-ending cycle.) And you know what else I had to deal with? Judgment. We all know it's innate to human beings, but it still hurts me. I sometimes received painful words from mean, narrow-minded people. I remember someone joking and saying, “Get away from me. I might get infected,” when they already know the fact that it wasn’t contagious, still, they just couldn't stop saying nonsense. If I know this is transmittable, I wouldn’t bother going out and risk the health of others. I know I shouldn’t let other people’s words get me down, but I just can’t help it. It just goes to show how powerful words can be. I just hope people are more cautious about what they say.
It actually took me a while to fully accept the skin I'm in and I'm still working on caring less about what other people think of me. Now it made me ask, "Why not me?" I guess that's just how life goes after all. Things happened to us. It may seem unfair, but life is neither fair nor unfair. It just the way it is. Faced with such circumstances, we must trust God’s plan for us. He always sees the big picture, and He will make all things right. Battling with Psoriasis for 11 years has only made me stronger. Yes, I do have days when I feel hurt, gross-out, shitty, and ugly but only for a little while. As much as possible, I always try to look on the bright side of life. Also, it is comforting to know that there are people out there who go through exactly what I’m going through and who have the courage to upload images of their skin without the fear of discrimination. It made me feel I'm not alone and I thank you all for that. You guys are awesome.
Let's continue spreading awareness and be an inspiration. Just remember, that you’re simply beautiful for who you are and your body, even with psoriasis or whatever you're dealing with. They’re just spots that were left as badges for how badass you are.
“Our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed to use.” - Romans 8:18
HAPPY WORLD PSORIASIS DAY, KABALATS! ♡

Roleplaying Your Dump Stat: Constitution
This is a part of a series in which I descibe how to roleplay your dump and star stats. NOTE: This is in no way the correct way to do these things, but merely an exploration of different or unique ways to portray characters. If you have awsome ideas, PLEASE share them!
Dump Stat: Your lowest stats (0-9)
Star Stat: Your highest stats (16-20)
How This Helps Writers: These are great examples of characters with low constitutions that you can translate into your fictional characters.
Let’s define constitution first. Constitution is: a person's physical state with regard to vitality, health, and strength. (Strength is it’s own thing in DND). In the Player’s Hand Book, it’s considered health, stamina, and vital force.
Now, let’s be honset, no one, or almost no one, will have Constitution as their dump stat, because it will hurt you in the long run. I DO NOT RECCOMEND IT.
So let’s ammend what a Con Dump Stat range would be
Con Dump Stat (10-15)
1. You have a disease
Having a low Constitution could mean that your body doesn’t perform in some way like it should, but it doesn’t have to be something terminal. It could be something that turns your hair different colors, or perhaps you are always breathing really hard because there’s a problem with your lungs.
You could be very sensative about this disease, covering up any phsyical shows of it. Or perhaps if there’s a physical mark, you show it off and pretend it’s something more than it is. (I was blessed by a god to get this!) or something akin to that, using it in cons and other nefarious things.
If it’s something physical, perhaps it relates to your ability to cast magic if you spell cast.
Here are some diseases I did a quick search on because they’re the first one that came to mind:
Vitiligo This is when you have spots that are slightly discolored. So like, you could be black and have a patch of very light pigmant skin across your shoulder or something. Domino from Deadpool Two (the most badass girl this side of the world) has this around her eye.
Dermatographic urticaria  This is known as Skin Writing. It’s where when you scratch lightly on yourself, it creates a weal, and it’s a bit like an alergic reaction. Without treatment, it could be 30-40 minutes before it fades, and worst canse hours to a day.
2. Your appearance is sickly
Kind of tied into the first one, you could just look like you’re about to keel over and die. You could be frail and boney with discolored skin.
Likewise, the idea of running, jumping, swimming wouldn’t be your favorite thing to do. You prefer to do things where you don’t have to exert much energy. This could be also translated into meekness. You don’t want to go into a bar fight or a cave because what happens if you have to run?
3. You’re bad at sex
This is more of a joke I had to mention. Someone in my DND group was going to have a CON of -4 (I shit you not) and my DM was like “Alright, you’ve got an INT of 1 and a CON of -4. Give me a reason why your wife would stay, because it’s not for your brains, and it isn’t for sex.”
4. You’re not Brave
While Constitution is a physical stat, I would also assosiate braveness with it because if you trust your body and your odds of survival, you might be more brave. But if you know you’re frail and likely to die, you might think twice about walking straight into a goblin den.
You’re essentially a little scardy cat!
5. You don’t have a tolerance to pain
Something humans have realized thus far is that some people are really, really tolerante to pain that would send others screaming away in agony. Perhaps figure out where your character’s pain threshold is via hit points
5 hit points of damage, for example is about what your character can take at lv 1. Anything more than that will cause you to scream in pain, or even beg for it all to stop. Obviously, as you grow in level your tolerance will rise.
So that’s my thought on low constitution. Please leave your own ideas about playing a Low Con character. Also, tell me if you’ve ever met someone with a negative con stat. I would LOVE to know.
Stay tuned for next time: Charisma.

Winnipeg, in Canada. The summers are fantastic, though. They can be very hot, like +36C with a humidex of +42C. Since then, I finally got back on good terms with her, but only after begging her to forgive me. Her daughter, however, seriously has troubles with having privacy even though she now in her mid 40 maybe it would do some good, even if it feels uncomfortable, you should express these concerns with your daddy. Perhaps he can get through to your momma where as you can. At this point, I think I reached some kind of zen acceptance about the whole thing, but it took a rough couple of months to get here. I now feel comfortable with that open ended answerless anxiety I had, but I not sure I had to go to grad school to get that. I had my first feelings of regret around a year ago and ignored them, and then had to admit to myself in the fall that this was not the path for me.I think Literary Studies is a very cool field, and I studied some amazing scholarship, I had a paid position (through teaching) as to not waste any money, and I worked with fucking brilliant professors who are doing cool work in all sorts of capacities, but I just not cut out for it. Again, it would be immensely satisfying to see this traitor jailed, but in the long run, those on the side of justice and righteousness should be pleased by this decision. Lets give him as much rope to hang himself with as possible. He in a lose lose situation now: violate the gag order and get fucked, or cease pushing the narrative that the trial 속쎈출임샔 is illegitimate so that he can increase his chances of a pardon.. Das empfinde ich jetzt als recht gewagte Interpretation. Von Bedeutung fr die Gesellschaft steht dort nichts. Gehlter haben ja auch gar nichts mit der Bedeutung fr die Gesellschaft zu tun. I also was able to quicken spells left and right, without worrying about depleting my sorcery points too much. I was able to open the combat by quickening haste on our fighter/cleric then dragon fearing a few enemies surrounding us that stayed feared throughout most of the fight. You also have enough extra spell slots that you can burn some to create more sorcery points for metamagic.. He launched an outreach program to seniors, and they now account for about a quarter of Harborside's clients. Most opt against smoking, instead using capsules, lozenges, drinks, foods, lotions, face masks and all sorts of other products infused with cannabis, and he says he's seen incredible turnarounds among seniors who were previously taking numerous other prescription drugs. "One of the reasons that you see the high poll numbers that you do, " he said, "is seniors are sick and tired of taking pharmaceuticals that have a list of side effects that look like something out of a Stephen King novel. Another welcome to Canada! I have a hard time in the winter with my skin I walk to work and the extra time outside can really do a number on it. I don have any recommendations specifically for hives, but I do have pretty sensitive skin in general (dermatographic urticaria), so I going to talk a bit about my skincare. The only thing I can recommend is skincare with few irritants like fragrance, and many layers of it. Destiny 1 was so short that I thought I had completed the first chapter when the credits started rolling, and I have no fucking idea what the plot was. There was maybe one cutscene? And I have no idea what the giant white ball even was. And this was with two expansion packs.. "In both the criminal informations and in other materials provided to the defense, the commonwealth narrowed the scope of 속쎈출임샔 the timeframe as to each victim and permitted Sandusky to raise his defense. " n n n nGelman said Sandusky has waived other claims that were brought up in a defense filing made shortly after he was sentenced. Those issues include whether the statute of limitations had run on some of the charges, whether his sentence was excessive and whether jurors should have been sequestered.
