From Steve Willhite (the artist):  “This last Saturday evening was spent at the Old Idaho State Penitentiary for the 32 Cells show. Man, it was a great show. All the art was a knockout. I got to spend time catching up with old friends and getting to know some new ones.  This year I painted a portrait of Dennis Eichhorn. An underground comic book legend and a helluva nice guy. I was able to spend a weekend with him a few years ago before he passed away so I knew him a little bit. It was an honor to do this little tribute of the man and his time spent as a guest of the Old Pen.  Super huge thanks to SWELL Artist Collective and to the Idaho Historical Society for putting this on every year. You guys rock!”

The stories all resonate with a truth that cuts to the quick of the human experience. Uncertainty, desperation, struggles, and poverty all serve as too common yet realistic backdrops to situations wrapped in dark humor and offbeat misadventures. Each artist masterfully captures the essence of the tale being told with exquisite line work and attention to detail. The variety of styles and the diversity of stories make Extra Good Stuff an entertaining comic that’s hard to put down!
