The main five animatronics of Carlos Carnival!

Carlos cat, mascot of the whole carnival. Penny panda, backup singer and dessert server. Randy rat, guitarist and chief. Drake dragon, drummer and strongest animatronic. And Winston wolf, backup singer and contortionist.

Short History

June 22nd 2001 was the birth of Carlos Carnival and the beginning of the sick and demented minds of Mr [REDACTED] and Mrs [REDACTED].

Around that time, actual actors and performers were the main entertainment of the carnival. They acted like how Disney characters would act in Disney land or Disney world. The carnival gained decent amount of popularity but it wasn’t getting enough visitors for the two owners. So Mr [REDACTED] spent the latter half of 2001 developing, and blueprinting the designs and concepts of the carnival’s animatronics. His goal was to draw in more crowds and earn money from the carnival but to also play out his sick fantasy of committing crime. He subtly added elements to the animatronic’s designs, that would be in theory, be dangerous. Such as long and sharp claws for Carlos and holding spaces in the robot’s stomach.

The first animatronics Mr [REDACTED] had tested were two animals; Leo The Lion and the prototype version of Randy rat. He assembled some testers and things went wrong as they both “malfunctioned” and attacked the testers, nearly killing some until Mr [REDACTED] turned the crazed robots off. The testers sued the owners, but since Mr [REDACTED] had a brother who was in high power with many connections, the case was soon dropped. The flaws in the robots is that he made them too violent and aggressive. So he repurposed only one. Prototype Randy would be rebuilt to be like a springtrap, with spikes inside of its body. Set in the darker corners of the carnival where guests could hide in him to escape any potential animatronic attacks, only to be brutally impaled and killed. Leo would be completely abandoned and left to rot as he had nothing to rebuild on.

In 2002, Carlos The Cat and Randy The Rat would be officially added and immediately the carnival’s popularity would skyrocket and guest flocked in for the innovative robots. They had personality, charm, wit, and most importantly, they could interact with the guests with such fluidity and perfection that it was common to mistake the robot to be sentient. Business boomed and they kept adding more and more attractions to the travelling carnival. Only staying for 1-3 months before leaving to another state. However, since the animatronics were built to be aggressive in some way, safety pods were made and placed around the carnival so that guests and workers alike could hide in case of a “malfunctioning” animatronic. Only 5 would be made, that was until Winston The Wolf was created. Mr [REDACTED] really wanted Winston to be the most aggressive and dangerous one so made it that, Winston would out of nowhere get extremely excited and pumped and in his frenzy he would attack other people, and due to his contortions, he could be anywhere without issue. So the pods went from 5 to 25. Locking immediately once entered and practically impossible to open on the outside. Only Drake The Dragon could open the pods from the outside due to his strength. So many injuries and even some deaths and disappearances happened after the introduction of Winston.

Employees

Andrew “Drew” McLean

Such a young and promising man, nearly as talented with engineering as Mr [REDACTED]. With such talents, he went to engineering school and was heading for a bachelor’s degree in robotic engineering. He got hired when the carnival was in Idaho, because him and the co owner bonded over their love for machines and robots. He was smart and curious but his curiosity got the better of him and in order for Drew to not learn the true motives of the robot’s purpose and design, was killed. He worked from 2002 til 2006.

Mitchel “Mitchy” Maruyama

A single mother of twins at the young age of 16 when her then boyfriend got her pregnant, disowned by her parents, her boyfriend left, not being able to own up to his mistake and she was too ashamed to continue high school and dropped out. Did some odd jobs here and there til she landed a job as a waitress in Carlos Carnival. Finally everything was looking good, she could feed herself and her children. That was until she covered for another security guard’s night shift and Winston found her. Worked from 2003 til 2004.

Miguel Rivera

An illegal and undocumented immigrant from Mexico, he merely only wanted a better life for himself and his family. He has a strong talent for the culinary arts but despite his talent, he couldn’t enter culinary schools and he grew depressed. To get rid of this sadness he looked for jobs to distract himself and looked for jobs, but due to his undocumented status, it was impossible. But when Carlos Carnival was in town and he signed up, he got it. He earned decent amount of money for his money. Life was good til he stumbled upon prototype Randy and got too close. Worked from 2002 til 2004.

Lukas Haltmore

He only worked there because his little brother Dennis, wanted him to, the job wasn’t all that hard to get, all things considered and the pay was weirdly good for only delivering food. Often times he would find himself, babysitting sitting his little brother during work. While his parents went off to their own jobs. Things went fine, until August 12th of 2004. When Dennis, wanting to impress his friends, climbed up Drake and crawled into his mouth. Lukas tried to warm him but Dennis shrugged it off. Only for the robot to get aggravated by Dennis’s bite down. Effectively ending his short life. Though it wasn’t Lukas’s fault, his grief stricken mother thought otherwise. Only a month later did Lukas met his demise one night shift, when he failed to enter the safety pods as Drake dragged him away. Worked from 2003 til 2004.

Karen Stevenson

Going through a hefty divorce is awful, nearly loosing your stuff is shitty but on the bright side you could make kids smile when you’re a party host. That was Karen’s mindset, though her life was shitty. Her job wasn’t all that bad. She loved kids and wanted some herself one day and she felt like taking this kid oriented job was perfect for her. Each day, no matter how bad her home life was, she would be smiling as clocking in to work was a genuine joy for her. Pay was nice and she just settling in her new apartment with the help of her new bf. Things were finally turning for the better, that was until she encountered Winston during one of his excited crazed frenzies. He dragged her to the vents, never to be seen again. Worked from 2003 till 2006.

Peter Sickley

That’s you, the player. Been working from the very beginning as a guy in a costume to maintenance guy for the robots. In all these years you’ve seen odd goings on with the carnival and its robots, and even more so with the many disappearance of your fellow coworkers. But as more disappeared, more are hired to replace them. The boss won’t talk to anyone about this and you feel more and more unsafe in the workplace, but you’re determined to find the truth of your coworkers disappearances. So you quit your day shifts for night shifts. Now, can you survive? Your first night shift will begin on may 2nd 2009, good luck :)

Notes

The safety pods have a two way mirror installed so that the animatronics cannot tell if a person is actually inside. And it’s recommended to hold your breath while inside so that the robots don’t hear your breathing.

A lot of the jobs offered in the carnival have specific uniforms. Most are the same except for some, for example: party host. They are required to wear a headpiece of one of the animatronics, like cat ears, panda ears, etc.

The disappearances and killings are often blamed on the victim or completely covered up. Hence why the carnival is still travelling the country.

There’s an anti Carlos Carnival group named “Justice for the innocent” or JFTI for short, that protests and rallies against the continued existence of Carlos Carnival. Founded by Lois Haltmore, mother of Lukas and Dennis Haltmore. Her main goal is to shut down the establishment for good and sent the owners to jail and bring justice to the lives taken and hurt.

Carlos Carnival is very much responsible for shutting down local businesses whenever it stops by a state or town. It also way more popular than any amusement park in the area, even rivalling Disney parks at some point.
