Tuesday, February 28: Voivod, “Into My Hypercube”
R.I.P. Denis “Piggy” D’Amour (1959-2005)
Voivod truly came into their own on Nothingface, crafting an idiosyncratic prog/thrash hybrid that didn’t really have any antecedent or influence. “Into My Hypercube” just seemed to exist, and couldn’t be anything other than Voivod: from Snake’s accented snarl to Piggy’s simultaneously blocky and sinewy guitar to Blacky’s “blower” bass and Away’s Neil Peart-meets-Charlie Benante drumming, this was so its own thing that it was almost laughable. Really, the most shocking thing about the track and Nothingface was that it actually expanded Voivod’s audience- one would imagine the thrash of Killing Technology or the more accessible overtures of Angel Rat or even The Outer Limits would land better. But it just went to show that by following their own muse on “into My Hypercube”, the group built their own sandbox and were better off hanging out while the world came to them.

Les Petals D'Amour | Gwi | Masterpost
Pairing: Gwi (the scholar who walks the night) x fem! noble! Reader
Summary: A heartless vampire falls in love for the first time in centuries of loneliness. Passion, secrets, betrayal and love drown the royal palace. Will your love for Gwi prevail through time or will it wither away like a fallen rose petal? Maybe love was his punishment, maybe love was your salvation. Or wasn't it a curse to you both? Because, who can beat a race against time? Who can love in the dark? Who can love without truth? After all, even the most beautiful flower will wither away and end in ashes of time, remembered only by the one who cherished her the most.
General Warnings: fluff, angst, blood, biting, general vampire stuff, secrets, obsession, twisted retail of beauty and the beast, death, character death, typical period misogyny, DARK ROMANCE, spiciness, love?, (specific warnings will be given in each chapter)
Total Word Count: in process
A/N: Welcome to my first fic on this new blog, darling! I finished watching TSWWTN like a month ago and I have officially fallen in love. I took one of the scenes to start this story that could serve as a prequel of the drama from Gwi's perspective. Like a backstory for him that we were denied on the show.
I really hope you will like it, loves. Please share your thoughts with me and feel free to ask me anything! From extra scenes for this story to what's the last thing I ate, I'd love to interact with you all!
*A/N: This story will be updated when I have the time to write, darlings. I'll do my best to keep it alive and ongoing but I have a lot on my plate right now. I'm doing this mostly for myself as I need some space to vent and create without pressure. This blog is a safe space for anyone and that obviously includes me. So please be patient when it comes to updates! I'm giving my all trying to balance my life with all the responsibilities I, myself, put over my already busy life. But be for sure that this story will be finished... someday.
**A/N: Darling, please mind the warnings on this post and on each chapter. I'm still pondering on whether I should include smut here or not as I personally think there should be a solid reason why there must be a spicy scene in a story but aside from that, this story will have some pretty dark contents and behaviours. Disturbing scenes may appear throughout the story and I am not responsible for your media consumption. Please, be careful, love.

🫀 In His Head | Rook Hunt x Reader
>> requested: yes, by @pinkskybelle >> a/n: didnt do him justice pls save me
>> masterlist: 400 fllr. special , here!! >> summary: you reject rook >> reader prns: they/them >> warning(s): oblivious reader, you have an s/o
Rook hoped you would get the memo. The arrows that had messages attached to them, the little gifts; he hoped those would resonate a thought within you.
Unfortunately, you were more dense than he had realized. You would return his arrows with a smile, and read his letters aloud. Something that was meant for your eyes was broadcasted to your friend group. And they knew what was up. Of course they did. They would send him judgemental glares in the halls. And yet they never bothered to tell you. At least, when they tried to hint at it you would never understand.
But today… today you would understand. He had prepared everything. You would be awed by the beauty of what he had prepared for you. You couldn’t ignore his feelings now.
Figuring out where you were was easy. He basically knew the school from the inside out, and also knew your schedule and routes by heart. It was 12:07, and you would be eating lunch on the bleachers while you watched the spelldrive practice.
Picking up an arrow, Rook stabbed it through a note that read Please come behind the bleachers on the opposite side, le chasseur d'amour. Placing the back of the arrow on the string, he pulled it back before the twang of releasing it sounded. And the arrow stuck perfectly on the wooden bleachers you were sitting on. He watched as you read the notes aloud, and how your friends talked to you about something that you denied.
When you rounded the corner, he was nervously excited. He asked you to follow him, and you complied, nodding and smiling. Perfectly oblivious.
You followed Rook into a small clearing surrounded by trees, where he stopped and turned to look at you.
“Rook, can I ask what this is all about?” you asked, confused on why he would bring you so secluded.
“Le chasseur d’amour, je suis très amoureux de toi. A chaque instant, je pense à toi. S'il vous plaît, acceptez ma confession.” He confessed, hand on his chest and one out at you.
“I’m so sorry… could you repeat that?” you asked, not speaking French.
“Trickster,” he started, more embarrassed than before. “I am deeply in love with you. Would you do me the utmost favor of accepting my confession?”
“You… love me?” you ask.
“I always have,” he says, taking off his hat.
“Oh Rook,” you sigh deeply. “I’m so sorry.”
“Excuse moi?” He was not prepared for this response.
“I’m so sorry Rook.” you feel tears well in your eyes. “I’m already dating someone.”
“If I may,” his heart drops. “Who?”
“Someone from my home,” your lips form a sickly sweet smile. “They’re from my world.”
Oh.
He could never compete with someone from a different world. And he would rather lay down his bow than interfere with your relationships.
“I… je vois,” he wouldn’t let tears come to his eyes. He wouldn’t allow it. “In that case, thank you for your time, Prefect.”
He exited the forest without you, and was lowering the hem of his hat so as to not be seen in such a state. He wouldn’t love someone again. He wouldn’t put his heart out there. For his broken heart would never heal again.

Viennese Waltz - A Perfect Dance Partner - Strictly NRC Dancing
Author's Notes: I actually really enjoyed writing this one! I didn't have an inspiration dance performance for this one, but I listened to "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri for the first draft and then Paul de Senneville's "Spring Waltz (Mariage d'amour)" for all of the editing. To be honest I think the "Spring Waltz (Mariage d'amour)" made me a little soft which might show in the writing. Also, I think the timing for this fic's release is kind of fitting considering what is currently being released in the Japanese server. Just like the rest of this AU/series the reader is female for this fic. I hope you enjoy!
If you would like to read more this AU/series, the fics can be found here: Strictly NRC Dancing AU Master-List
Type: Dance AU/female reader/romantic/fluff
Word Count: 996
I inhaled softly before slipping out of the dressing room and heading out for the final performance of the day. My dance with Malleus.
The Viennese waltz was, fittingly, one of the oldest ballroom dances. It was also one of the dances with the biggest legend surrounding it.
Commonly thought of as the most romantic dance and well known as one of the most popular forms that a wedding’s first dance could take.
In a strange way, it was almost daunting to be performing such a dance with Malleus.
It was completely different from dancing with Trein. Rather than being incredibly relaxing, it was more like it was half-embarrassing.
But those feelings melted away once Malleus met my awkward gaze with a smile. Holding out his hand with gleaming eyes, he calmly asked an incredibly simple question: “May I?”
It was almost odd for him to ask if he could dance with me, considering that Crowley had forced me into this position. Dancing any and every dance I was pulled for in these classes’ games of straws. No matter the class, partner, or my feelings on the matter, I was going to perform.
Perhaps that was why the smile I gave him in return was a genuine one as I slipped my hand into his gloved one and nodded, “Of course.”
His fangs flashed as his smile widened, and he backed up slowly to the center of the floor, pulling me along with him as the lights slowly dimmed.
The music had just started as he gently pulled me into hold. His eyes never left mine even as he slowly began to guide me into the gentle but surprisingly fast and whirling dance.
And I found I was content to gaze back at him, fully trusting him to lead me through our performance as I matched his smile with one of my own. But, at odds with my earlier embarrassment, there was an ease to being him.
Perhaps it was because our friendship had sprouted out of nothing with no expectations and me even calling him Hornton of all things.
I had to bite back a quiet laugh as I thought about the fact that even now I was calling someone so supposedly scary something as ridiculous as Hornton. But that’s just how we were.
At this point, I could confidently say that neither Malleus nor I really cared what others thought about the two of us. Which was probably why I no longer had any nervous butterflies or concerns as I danced with him.
I wasn’t being graded, and I had no doubts that Malleus would pass this class with ease. So all I was really doing was just dancing. Only for the fun of it.
And I’d even gotten the chance to accept this dance and this partner instead of just being pushed into performing and expected to just accept it.
“You’re quite talented, Child of man,” There was a sparkle in Malleus’s eyes as he spoke, and I felt a grin creep onto my face.
“I ought to be, what with all the training I’ve been getting,” He chuckled slightly, nodding his head in admission to my wry words.
“That is true. But Lilia told me there was a perfect dance partner out there for everyone… Perhaps you shall find yours in the course of the classes.”
I smiled slightly at his words. Of course Lilia would say something like that. Ever the romantic.
But I couldn’t deny it was a pleasant thought, “Maybe… It would be nice.”
He huffed out a quiet laugh, “You are as much of a romantic as Lilia.”
I fought the urge to shrug. Even as skilled a dancer as Malleus was, that would ruin the performance for sure, “Hey, everyone’s got their weaknesses.”
He hummed in response as he pivoted us across the floor, something flickering through those bright green eyes of his as his gaze shifted to something in the distance and turned thoughtful, “Indeed, I seem quite weak to moments such as these.”
His eyes found mine again, his slit pupils dilating as soon as our gazes met, and I fought the urge to tilt my head questioningly. Opting to instead let him explain on his own time.
Malleus wasn’t one to leave me hanging.
“I’ve grown quite fond of making these memories with you… Perhaps you have become more precious to me than I realized.”
Even if I’d had the words, I wasn’t given the chance to respond as he punctuated his statement by gently pulling me up into a bridal-style hold.
Carefully cradling me against his chest, he leaned his head forward to gently rest his forehead against mine. Our spinning slowed to match the gradually fading song.
In just a few more moments, our performance would be finished.
“Perhaps this is what it means to find one’s perfect partner?” His voice was quiet, but I still caught the words he practically breathed out. There was no way I could miss them with how close we were to one another.
His gaze held mine as he cradled me against him, and silence spread through the room as the song finished its lilting end.
The final notes of the melody clung to their small area in what felt like a massive span of time as me and Malleus came to a stop, still staring at one another. His, an almost solemn but tender gaze while I stared back at him, wide-eyed.
And then he sat me down, a smile back on his face that made it look like nothing had been said as he inclined his head, “Thank you for the dance, Child of Man.”
He turned, still holding my hand gently, as he headed over towards the applauding judges, but I barely even heard them congratulating him on a dance well done. Instead, my head was too filled with his words and exactly how tender his gaze had been in that brief moment.

VOIVOD Montreal 1989
Sometimes I forget how ambitious I was when I was young. I had sold a portrait or two from the film festival to the Village Voice in the fall of 1989 when Edna Suarez, their photo editor, called me from New York to ask how hard it would be for me to get to Montreal to shoot a band. I didn't tell her that it was no small trip given Canadian distances, but I wanted the job really badly, so I mumbled something about taking the train and got the assignment to photograph Voivod, a heavy metal band from Quebec who had just shifted from noisy thrash to a complex prog metal that would give birth to a whole subgenre. I got the phone number for the band's manager and arranged a day for the shoot, then got on the phone with VIA Rail. (Canada's Amtrak. Keep in mind this was the pre-internet world, and my only other option would have been going to a travel agent or down to Union Station to book a ticket, which I'd have to do anyway to pay for my fare once it was reserved.) I was on an overnight train from Toronto to Montreal - over eight hours in a coach seat, but thankfully they didn't charge for baggage, and I would be bringing most of my studio with me - two cameras, light stands and the ProFoto ProAcute 6 strobe kit I'd just bought with money I'd inherited after my mother had died.
Voivod are, in my opinion, one of a half dozen really original bands that have come out of Canada. (Also on that list: Simply Saucer, NoMeansNo, Death From Above 1979.) I'd liked them since early, abrasive records like Rrröööaaarrr, and wasn't the only one intrigued by their new, prog-ier direction, as they'd caught the attention of the music critics at the Village Voice enough to warrant a feature in their end-of-year Pazz & Jop poll, for which I was providing the photos. I arrived in Montreal early on a Saturday morning to find that the city had just been blanketed by a snowstorm. I hauled all my camera gear upstairs from the Gare Centrale to the dining room of the Queen Elizabeth hotel for breakfast, to wait for Voivod's manager. He showed up just as I was finishing, and helped me carry my gear to his car, and we set out for the band's rehearsal space in a big complex out in a Montreal industrial suburb. Everyone seemed baffled but flattered that a New York magazine would send a photographer all the way from Toronto for a photo shoot, but I scoped out the room - your standard stark cube in an old warehouse building, with windows high on one wall and egg cartons covering the other walls to provide cheap acoustic insulation.
I worked hard to deliver a lot of options from my photo shoot with Voivod in their Montreal rehearsal space. Thankfully I had the luxury of time and subject who were, most of the time, engaged with the task at hand. I also lit the hell out of it, using all three of the heads in my strobe kit to provide everything from flattering soft light, moody "horror movie" light from below, and hard light shooting almost directly into my Nikon F3 to make the lens flare. I had the band pose in the usual, full-length band shots, looming above me as I kneeled on the floor, and huddled together screaming their lungs out. But my most successful set-up was composed with my new Rolleiflex - the band lit from above against a backdrop of egg crates, looking up into the light as if they're about to be raptured, or abducted by friendly aliens. That was the one I was certain that Edna at the Village Voice would like the most, and I was right. (I'd prove it to you if I could find the tearsheets which, I fear, may be long lost.) I definitely lost money on the gig after paying for cabs to and from the train station, my ticket, and breakfast at the Queen Elizabeth. But I seemed to pass the test and continued to get work from Edna for several years, first at the Voice and then at the New York Times when she moved there. Voivod are still together, and released Morgöth Tales, their 16th record, last year. Sadly guitarist Denis "Piggy" D'Amour died of colon cancer in 2005.

Hello, person whom i may or may not share a home with, it is i, simply the most guy of guys, i would like to request a simple oc (u know who) x Rook Hunt, where, possibly, Rook finds out that he has been the muse of a certain someone, if u cant or dont want to write thats ok too, drinks lots of water btw xoxo
--ur best bud ¬u¬
Ehehehe KrisRook content my beloved òwó I got u covered bro (btw sorry i wrote Kris name wrong on the other post, i forgro to change it, i'll do it after i post this teehee)
Rook Hunt x Kristoffer Hartdagger - aMUSEing
Normally the Arts and Crafts club is a silent place, with only some ambient songs from the club's collab playlist as a company to the artists all in their zone. Today started no different, the club president presenting them today with a simple mindless doodle session before them getting into the more ellaborate club activities. Kris stayed very much in his zone as always, being the softspoken and shy boy he is. on his normal seat, with a sketchbook and some colored lead eraseable pencils, he doodled. Except everyone around noticed how he would sigh and stare at his doodles. The truth is, for a while Hartdagger had been in love. He just never opened up with anyone but his bestfriend Moira about it. "Ah~Monsieur Spotted, I see you're on art duties. Beuté!" "AHHH!" Kris was close to throwing the sketchbook up in the air in fear from the oh so common voice he grew to love. Rook Hunt seemed to be observind the club... again. "ROOK! GO AWAY! SHOO SHOO!" The club leader tried shooing the man away, but to no avail. he made his seat next to Kris, looking politely at the club president. "Ah, monsieur artiste, I can guarantee I will behave according club rules during my stay, you have not to worry!" "I-I... Sir, I can keep an eye on him... I-if you want it, that is,, i'm not forcing it in aniway i'm sorry if i seem like-" "Keep him from touching anything and it's all good Kris, if he gives you trouble i'll just call the headmage." "Right. Okay. sorry..." during the small conversation, Kris failed to observe Rook's head getting closer and closer to his space, until he could quite literally feel the brim of his hat touch his forehead. "My, my... I knew you liked to draw people, Monsieur Spotted, but never thought i would be a form of inspiration for you. Such magnificence, so much attention to the details." "Eep! You were... you... were staring at my doodles?!" Kris hugged the book to his chest "don't mind it! really!" "Why, it is a beautiful! If you ever are in need of a muse, I will be happy to provide! La chasseur d'amour will always provide the inspirations to seek the beauty in all!" While others only groaned, Kriss mumbled something under his breath. It seemed almost unaudible, but to a pair of trained hunter's ears, it was as clear as day: "you already are my muse" Rook kept his composure, but of course, the hunter had the affirmation of the prey, and now he is ready to get it for himself. "Perhaps you would enjoy a posing session later on Pomefiore?" Kris stared at Rook, face already flushes since the moment Rook invaded the boy's personal space, but he didn't have in him to deny, so he slowly nodded. Rook was going to say something, when he heard the common call of Vil for his Vice Housewarden's aid. Rook smiled sweetly before stooding up "It seems Roi du Poison is in need of my hunting skills, but fret not, for I'll come back at when the meeting ends! Trés Bien!" As soon as Rook left, and everyoned seemed more at ease, the president went to Kris "Hey... Thanks for the help but..." "Yes, sir?" "Do you know how does he know when the meetings end when we have it end in different times each day?" Rook Hunt things, were all everyone could assume.
Hope u like it! I never wrote Rook and I saw almost nothing of him yet so I'm getting used to him still!

Monday, August 5: Voivod, "Psychic Vacuum"
R.I.P. Denis "Piggy" D'Amour (1959-2005)
Although Dimension Hatröss found Voivod leveling up in almost every respect, the level of discipline they showed on their fourth record also felt like a bit of a retreat from the craziness of their earlier material. For that matter, “Psychic Vacuum” actually bordered on rock and roll, particularly in Away’s more straightforward drumming and Blacky’s less cantankerous blower bass, while Snake’s sneering was mostly decipherable. It was mostly Piggy’s proggy thrash riffing that connected the track to Voivod’s origins, ensuring that even if the collective was playing a bit slower and with more structure, there was still something completely distinct going on that prevented anyone from mistaking this for something conventional. And indeed, slowing down a touch actually accentuated the traits that made the band awesome, showing that these guys knew how to apply different textures to their sound and approach while sounding like nobody else.
