Your soul is connected to the foot bone
You’re dragging it down with the weight of your bones
Surrounded by temptations and you just give in
Now shake dem skeleton bones!
Dem bones, dem bones, dem dry bones!
Your bones becomes dry as you perspire
Think you’re thirsty now wait till it gets drier
And you feel the heat of the bones
Dem bones, dem bones, dem dry bones!
Your sick and sinful lives will build a leg bone
Your perversions scar the station, son, they’re gonna fry her
Now shake dem skeleton bones!
Dem bones, dem bones, dem dry bones
Your skin starts to sizzle as you expire
Your hip bone’s connected to your back bone
Now shake dem skeleton bones!
Hellfire!
Hellfire!
Hellfire!
Hellfire!
That fire! That fire! That hellfire!
At the heart of the inferno that will never tire
I have seen the knee bone, and it connects thigher
And we all fall into the flames!

Anyone possess an object that's strange and unsettling without the proper context? I, for instance, have recently received a 3D printed model of my upper jaw.

For the two of you who might be momentarily obsessed (as I am) with the ancient (everywhere, as it turns out, I mean, it does stand to reason) game/divination method of knucklebones (and who are, of course, both to be found on Tumblr), check out Misha Tikh's video showing off 3D printed tali. You get get these on Shapeways (a bit spendy, but they turn out really nicely): https://www.shapeways.com/product/LE3XNVQQM/knucklebone-dice-set Or, if you have your own 3D printer, the file that Misha has made available on Thingiverse prints up beautifully: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1036458 (I've printed these out at 80% scale and am currently priming them for some painting & weathering). From a completely different group of folks, there is a full deluxe set of "Tali", as was put together on Kickstarter something like five years ago, on sale for $25 from the original $40 over at VR-Soft Games: https://vrgames-vr-soft-com.myshopify.com/products/tali-deluxe-w-4-player-add-on-characters -- this comes with a whole roleplaying game version of the game, with coin-tokens, and may be very well suited for anyone who's interested in ancient history and who possesses a crow brain (your mileage may vary).

no clue what the skeleton war is but I’d like my contribution to be the one random skeleton video I watched in like 4th grade for science class.

What a happy lil fella!
Where is vertebrae C6?
Right here:
Tumblr media
Why am I posting this?
Because I've always wondered WHERE that bone is whenever I see that top image. So I figured I couldn't be the only one who asked that. Now you know where that grinning lil guy sits in your spine.
Wonder no more!
You're welcome 😉

Don’t you hate it when you’re trying to design an OC and then it looks exactly like another character?

EXITS THE "ANGRIEST BAND IN THE WORLD" -- LIGHTENS UP ALL OF A SUDDEN.
PIC INFO: Spotlight on a still extremely young-looking Tony "Bones" Roberts (age 22 here, reportedly) in his post-DISCHARGE era/then BROKEN BONES period, c. 1984, while wearing lighter colors while looking generally brighter and less dour than in his UK82 phase (I hate to use that word, btw).
Photo credit unlisted -- Dis nightmare was finally over for Tony -- off to brighter, "happier"-sounding music instead! LOL!

Fleer Mr. Bones and Brach's Dem Bones
Putting these two in the same post since they're so similar.
Tumblr media
Image credit: Jay Duffy on Flickr
Mr. Bones (available from the late 1970s to the mid-1990s) was a brand of chalky, tangy candy pieces shaped like, well, bones. They came in coffin-shaped containers and could be assembled into a full skeleton, though completing the "puzzle" often required saving pieces from multiple containers.

Onto our next treat, Dem Bones, which I was actually around to enjoy. These came out in 1993, around the tail end of Mr. Bones' availability. Unlike its counterpart, Dem Bones' pieces did not interlock, but the shapes and variety of colors still made them a fun seasonal treat. Plus, I'd definitely feel less bad about eating these.

Unfortunately, these too were discontinued, this time in the mid-2000s.
What sets these two brands of candy apart from the types of bone-shaped candy that remain available today is the variety of shapes they came in—stuff like rib cages, hands, and feet in addition to the typical skulls and femurs.
