Delta and the Bannermen is still a great story, but there's one thing I still have a question about:

Why where those time traveling alien tourists deadset on going to Disneyland in the 1950s?

For those of you who don't know theme park history, Disneyland in the 50s just straight up kind of sucked, none of the rides people actually go to Disneyland for existed yet (pirates, haunted mansion, the mountains, etc), and what was there was slow, boring, and broke down a lot.

In 1959, the time traveling alien known as the Doctor (Doctor 7) and his companion attempted to save the soul survivors of the Chimeron race (Delta and the egg for a new princess). Even though he doesn’t like Ray back as she’d hoped, Billy from Delta and the Bannermen is such a great character. He’s so adaptable. I mean think about it:

meets a cute girl from out of town, wants to get to know her

she’s a single mum - no problem, he likes kids!

she’s a refugee and still very much in danger - that’s terrible! how can he help?

she’s an alien bee person and her baby is GREEN - that’s ok, he just wants to be there for her! to the point of later physically transforming himself into a green bee person! commitment is important to him :)

And all of this information he finds out during a conversation with his new crush in front of her nosy roommate who’s in pajamas. So relatable yet so, so weird.

Question for all Seventh Doctor fans:

Was Ray's surname (from Delta and the Bannermen) ever established somewhere?

I don't remember it ever being said onscreen, and Archive of Our Own has tagged her as "Rachel "Ray" Defwydd".
