Interlude I: Kakavasha
Warnings: Discrimination and heavily implied racism
You were an enigma, even to the other Avgin.
“She appeared out of nowhere.”
“Should we trust her?”
“She looks like one of our own.. and she seems harmless enough, I think we should trust her.”
“Are you sure about this? If she’s with the Katicans we could be in danger.”
The voices whisper and hiss, only slightly muffled by the barrier of a tent with little Kakavasha hiding behind some of the crates.
It made sense for the people, including his sister, to suspect you, even just for a little bit. But to him it didn’t make sense, you had the same hair, you had the same eyes, and you wore pretty clothing unlike them or the Katicans.
Kakavasha was one of the children who were a bit more subtle in their adoration of the patterns of your clothes, his eyes innocently tracing each one of them to see where they begin and where they end.
He learned that your name was Delia from the whispers of his mother and sister on the light of the campfire and the skies of their planet. He’d peek sometimes when his sister brought food to your tent— a simple stew, the same one he knew he would also eat for supper.
He observed, and noticed you didn’t do much of anything at all or even move. Something about you felt a little wrong, felt… weird. At first glance, nothing was wrong, you looked just like him, same eyes, same hair. What was actually wrong with you? He didn’t know, and he felt guilty for thinking of you that way the moment you had given him a sweet smile.
Surely, you would not be a traitor. You are Avgin like him, bears the same eyes, and the gentle smile his mother and sister had.
Kakavasha decided he wanted to speak to you, and he never regretted that decision.
It had felt so wonderful to be graced with stories (he never really questioned how you knew them) of people from afar, of people who persevered in their strife. The more stories you had told him, the more of hope and desire of true freedom grew inside his heart.
Kakavasha was just a child, but much like the older Avgin, he too wanted to be free, to no longer be gazed upon in mockery or jealousy, to no longer have the threat of his life taken simply for what he was born as.
When you both play, he always wins. His luck dictates for him to win.
It didn’t matter whether it was cards or hide and seek— the only game you’ve beaten him at was something called chess. He vowed to be smarter than you when he grew up after that, as you had said the game did not rely on luck.
It hadn’t occurred to him then that in the short two months you were with him, you were indirectly teaching him to play others as his pieces; to plan, to think outside of the box and to not rely on the thrill of a gamble. He remembered you mainly because you gave him good memories in your short stay and the lessons you imparted to him in the form of your stories.
His luck always aided him. It did when you came, it did when the Katicans invaded and the Galaxy rangers came, and it did when he wanted to get the attention of the IPC.
Mr. Boothill never really ended up liking his decision to join their ranks, and they had fought over it, but the cowboy conceded once he heard the Avgin boy’s reasoning.
He needed power and an extensive connection to help his people and to find you. The job of a Galaxy ranger would not grant him that influence, and another reason was simply because it was a somewhat.. safe outlet for his vices.
The voices of the Katicans still haunt him even though years had already passed.
Lucky boy, they’d sneer, jealous and mistrusting.
He was fine if people did not trust him; it already came with being an Avgin, being an employee of the IPC would not really change a thing. Besides, he wasn’t noble (at least he thinks he is not noble— that he is dirty, as free as he might be now), and he doesn’t think he can follow through with the strict code and creed Boothill swore himself to.
Kakavasha knew you and his sister would disapprove of the thoughts he directs to himself, but neither you or her are not here to hear anything. You’re not here to see.
“Still no leads?” He asked over on the other end of the line, his voice now taking a much deeper tone as it had been eight years since you left.
He’s an adult and a stoneheart; things he didn’t know he would become back then when he was just at the cusp of puberty and at war. He had his fair share of struggles too after that— the discrimination against his people never really stopped even after the killings did.
Some of them were still sold, were still seen as objects to be owned, an exotic prize.
He can’t gain power if he remained fully noble and good, and he can’t find you if he had no power and wealth. In order to help his people and himself, he resorts to joining the IPC.
“No, we couldn’t find any trace of the person you want to know about.” The person on the end of the line replied to him as his eyes traced over the stamps he’s put on a board in search for you.
It was as if you never truly existed in the first place.
He gave a hum of acknowledgment for the other person in the call and hung up, he doesn’t take this as a sign to stop though.
“Kid, you sure the girl you’re looking for is really out there?” Mr. Boothill asked him, swirling a glass of whiskey in his hand as he too looked at the papers and red strings interconnecting them together. “Asked around a couple of friends and they haven’t seen someone like this leave on a ship—“
The cyborg’s pause made Kakavasha blink.
“You remember something?” He asked.
“Kid,” he didn’t like being called a kid now, but he lets Mr. Boothill call him that out of respect. “Mind telling me what the hell your girl was doing before the festival again? You mentioned she would go missing, right?”
“Yes, if I’m remembering it correctly, she would disappear every night when she thought I was sleeping. She’d…” Kakavasha’s brows furrowed. “Get out of the tent, then walk back in exactly six system hours after. I knew the time because I often counted how many times the hour glass would run out, and I would make a bet on how many hours it’d take before she comes back.. of course, I was always right.
“What does that have to do with this?” He asked.
“You ever thought how the hell we managed to find your planet?” Boothill scowled. “Just a feelin’… but I think your girl.. isn’t exactly a girl.” Kakavasha knew enough to believe the man, having known he had traveled many places and lived many years.
“I’m not quite sure if I follow…” Kakavasha trailed off.
“I can’t blame you, even to this day I’m not sure what the fudge terrorized our ship either.” Boothill sighed gravely with a shake of his head. “It’s just a theory, but your girl— Delia, right?”
He nodded.
“I think it might be the same thing that summoned us to your planet.” His scowl deepened. “Listen, we got points. You said she came out of nowhere, none of the Katicans knew this girl, none of your family knew this girl, she felt weird, knew stories and stuff she wasn’t supposed to know, and left for six hours every night for weeks til your birthday came in? That girl was no human.”
Your image in Kakavasha’s head warped. “A masked fool?” He asked, hesitantly.
“No no, I don’t think those shirt bags would bother to be so benevolent. And I don’t think they’d be powerful enough to scare some of my friends that they decided to go to a doctor.” Boothill inhaled and exhaled. “It’s probably something worse, I dunno.”
How could you be bad? If he’s understanding what Boothill is getting at, then you were the one who set the Avgin free from the Katicans, the one who ushered in help when the IPC did not offer his people aid.
If you were not an Avgin like him, what were you? It’s established as of now that you weren’t exactly a person— hell, Delia probably isn’t even your real name.
Then, he remembered freedom.
It was a thought that came in like a stroke of luck as he gazed upon the patterns— the one he managed to identify as freedom quilts displayed hanging on Boothill’s wall.
The cyborg followed his line of sight and snorted. “Oh, that. Given to me by a friend as a souvenir two weeks ago from a city that devoted themselves towards this new Aeon.. Libertas, I think their name was. Don’t some of your people follow that Aeon now too?”
“Yeah, they do.” He remembered some of the adults muttering prayers to this Aeon— to give them strength, to thank them for being the representation of what they wanted. They prayed in the same way they would pray to the mother goddess, there is no tribute, there is no statue, in a way some of them also thought of Libertas as Fenge Biyos herself, although Kakavasha thinks that Xipe may be a closer comparison if one were to look closely.
Libertas had been recently introduced some six years back through a dream a few of his people had, and suddenly he felt dumb.
Kakavasha laughed, exasperated at himself as Boothill looked at him strangely.
“Hey, what’s gotten into you?” Boothill’s nose wrinkled as Kakavasha calmed his laughter.
“Thanks for giving me a good knock to the head Mr. Boothill.” He began, smile stretching wide. “The answer to the mystery was under my nose the entire time! Goodness, I feel pranked.” He grinned, Boothill’s concern grew.
“The hell?” He muttered out.
“That cloth.” The Avgin pointed. “It’s the answer this entire time because it’s the same pattern Delia wore.” The more he gave it thought, the more it began to make sense.
Of course you’d wear the pattern of freedom on you.
Kakavasha smiled, gently and happily this time as he looked at Boothill with a sense of accomplishment. “Mr. Boothill, I guess we found the girl.”

JSHDHSHSHS Posting this utter word vomit rn, and yes this takes place in the same universe as Aeon reader, though this is sort of a POV exclusively by Aventurine— there will be interludes for other characters too in the future, but for now please enjoy.
I would also like to add that this remains to be a gender neutral reader insert, the reader taking on the form of an Avgin woman was purposeful.
(This is heavily unedited and written at three am by a very sleep deprived mf)

{ samantha logan , 30 , cis woman , she/her } we are so glad to see you safe, lady cordelia mackenzie of scotland ! it’s dangerous out in the world these days , but i hear that you are enchanting and ambitious enough to handle it. just don’t let your cunningness bring you down. stay on your guard , because with your secret being at risk for exposure , you wouldn’t want everyone to find out you framed a stuart ally for treason to strengthen your own standing at court.
basic information.

familial ties.
father: duke mackenzie. mother: duchess mackenzie. siblings: murat abdullah mackenzie , older brother. karolina mackenzie , younger sister.
history.
the wealth of the mackenzies was well known not only in scotland but across europe. they might possess no crown but some would argue that the influence and power they'd garnered from their riches outshone any golden circlet. cordelia grew up in the heart of the clan's opulence, never wanting for anything and being taught by the very best tutors brought to scotland from all over the world. her intelligence blossomed as did her expert grasp on court manners and courtesies. there remained a wildness in her eyes ( she was a scot still ) but it was hidden behind dazzling smiles and palpable grace.
initially the mackenzies were loyal allies of the stuarts, never hesitating to offer consul or aid whenever it was needed, and their ambitions were sated by the knowledge that they had the king's ear and that his rule had allowed their family to flourish more. the families' close relationship made it possible for cordelia to spend so much time at the scottish court, charming the other nobles and royals. the motive wasn't innocent. her mother viewed it as crucial that her children integrate themselves at court and particularly with the royal family but also with other powerful nobles. how else would the clan maintain their power?
cordelia set her sights on the third stuart, claire. she found the princess' company refreshing and in her company, cordelia's more wild side was able to shine. upon noticing how interested the princess was in information, she quickly showed herself to be a useful ally. her sharp wit, money, and personable nature made gathering gossip easy, all of which she passed along to claire or, if asked by the stuart, put it to good use, causing chaos where needed and moving different pieces in place. with time she moved up the ranks until she oversaw the princess' network of spies, collecting whatever information she could, no matter how insignificant in the moment it might appear.
when the king turned greedier, the mackenzies' loyalty began changing. loyal they appeared, the mackenzies were a ruthless family. they would not give the stuart king a chance to turn on them and possibly remove some of their power and influence. cordelia didn't hesitate to involve herself in the rebellion, rising up in its ranks thanks to the information her close ties with the royal family allowed her to share with the rebels along with her strong friendship with the rebellion's leader. leadership didn't interest her, preferring pulling strings from the shadows, and thus she settled comfortably into the role of second in commands.
at the instruction of her mother, cora still played the part of innocent socialite, fluttering around court, throwing her parties, and remaining close to the stuarts - if the rebellion decided to switch what stuart was on the throne then they must have a full picture of the possible candidates. the mackenzies deemed the eldest as too loyal to the king to be of much use, but cordelia had claire's ear and if she sought to strengthen her relationship with the other two then it was attributed to her social ways. it was a dangerous game, causing her to proceed with caution, but nothing had collapsed yet.
arc o1.
unaffected by the deaths, cordelia operated around the mughal court much as she did back home, ears constantly attuned for information and seeking out any opportunity to further the cracks in the stuart family. the choice of location also reunited her with her older sibling. it was only when the french barged into the palace and tried assuming control that personal feelings, fueled by a feud not between people but two nations, got involved. insult only grew when the french threw her friend and rebel leader into the crossfire, the label of traitor putting them at risk of loosing their head.
timeskip.
the reckoning was almost a blessing. if anyone would've harmed cailean it was the king and queen; now that were dead. their sudden demise also increased the cracks in the stuart family, turning them into chasms once. cora could see it all play out: the stuarts, so focused on each other, wouldn't see the true enemy until it was too late. but before the rebellion could strike a fatal blow to the struggling monarchy, the swords were laid down and unity was reforged. some were disappointed, but cordelia saw that the cracks weren't healed, merely stitched together. all it would take was the right blade to tear them open again.
while her brother's return home meant she spent more time visiting with her family, she didn't neglect her commitment to the rebellion. cora knew if she could cement her own position as a loyal ally of the stuart monarchs then she would be better positioned to foster the cracks reopening and relay more information to her allies. it wasn't difficult. whispers of traitors still circled court, cordelia herself still worried that her friend was still at risk, so all she needed was a target. she found one in a scottish lord who for years had stood by the stuart family's side. a good ally, a strong one. and also one who was vocal about finding the so-called rebels. cordelia mackenzie planted the seeds, tended to them, and watched the sword swing on the day he lost his life.
having been the one who brought the proof of the lord's treachery to the stuart monarchs, a fact kept secret as a precaution so the "rebels" wouldn't retaliate against cora, she cemented herself as a true loyalist like many mackenzies who had come before her. all the while her little birds reported how angry some neutral scottish nobles were over the execution. a properly aimed arrow striking multiple targets was quite rewarding.
headcanons.
she has a beautiful singing voice. she had vocal lessons from a famous singer growing up and loves singing, particularly traditional scottish songs. it isn't uncommon for her to be asked to sing at parties. her voice has led to some calling her the scottish siren.
extremely personable and charming. she comes alive in social situation, loving being the center of attention but also knowing when to be quiet and listen. her social skills make her the perfect spy as she's able to make people think she's their confidant and friend with ease. plus knowing when to listen allows her to gain information that a person wouldn't disclose if being questioned.
loves, loves, loves gossiping. she can listen to it for hours.
also loves causing chaos. she won't hesitate to use the information she's gathered to her, the rebellion's, or claire's advantage with little care about who might be harmed in the process.
she believes any information is good information. it might seem useless in the moment but it might prove valuable - better to have it than to lack it.
cora presents herself as very ladylike but like any scot, she does have a wild side. she loves spending time outside, particularly in the highlands, and does know how to wield a sword. she normally carries a hidden dagger at all times.
the fact that she was the one who delivered the proof that the scottish lord was a traitor is only known by the stuart monarchs and her fellow rebels, who were aware of ( and likely assisted with ) the mission from the moment it was first proposed. her role wasn't publicized due to the concern that doing so would put cordelia and her family in danger if the stuarts' enemies decided to retaliate. if only they knew the truth . . .
while she denies it, her feelings toward the stuarts are extremely conflicted. she shares her family's negative view of the king but for many years she viewed claire a friend, someone she wanted to see happy. but she's actively working against her family, seeking to tear the stuarts off their throne and put a better government in their place, and is unsure how claire would react if she found out.

Visit from The Horned King
The Horned King, a formidable demon and father to Princess Delia, arrived at her gothic mansion in the forest after a prolonged absence. The towering mansion, draped in an aura of enigma and power, beckoned him as he stepped into its grand halls. Delia, adorned in resplendent attire befitting her status as a dream therapist and dream walker, greeted him with a warm embrace.
"Greetings, my fair daughter," the Horned King proclaimed, his voice resonating with an air of regality. "Verily, it has been a considerable span since our last encounter. I bid thee welcome to this dwelling of dark grandeur."
Delia's eyes gleamed with a mixture of surprise and joy as she curtsied gracefully. She can easily shift to their regal tone and accent, having grown up speaking in such a fashion. Delia doesn't talk like this to anyone else, because they do not understand her and think she is playing the part of some character from a Shakespearean play. "Father, I am most delighted by thy presence. Pray, enter and partake in the embrace of mine humble abode."
They settled amidst the opulence of the mansion's gothic decor, ensconced in a sumptuous sitting area. The Horned King, with a flourish of his hand, summoned forth a servant to pour them each a chalice of velvety, dark elixir—a beverage both esteemed and cherished. As they raised their goblets, Delia spoke with an eager anticipation.
"Dearest father, permit me to regale thee with the wondrous tales of mine sojourn within this forest. The ancient arboreal sentinels whisper their secrets unto my ears, and the mystical creatures that dwell herein have become my trusted allies—nay, mine teachers. Through the art of dream therapy and dream walking, I have brought solace and illumination to many a troubled soul."
The Horned King listened intently, his eyes gleaming with admiration for his daughter's accomplishments. "By the grace of the infernal realms, I am moved by thy noble pursuits, Delia. Thy ability to traverse the ethereal realm of dreams and guide others upon this hallowed path is a testament to thy strength and compassion. But prithee, tell me, how hast thou fared in this forest, a realm distant from our veritable home?"
Delia's voice, imbued with a blend of enthusiasm and wistful remembrance, filled the room. "Father, this forest hath become my sanctuary—a haven of otherworldly beauty and tranquility, wherein my spirit doth find succor. Though it differeth from the realm we once called home, I have discovered a sense of belonging hither. The denizens of the nearby hamlet have embraced mine services, and mine repute as a dream therapist hath flourished."
The Horned King nodded, a flicker of concern adorning his countenance. "And what of thy safety, dear daughter? Hast thou encountered perils or adversaries within this verdant domain?"
Delia's expression turned solemn as she recounted her trials. "Indeed, father, challenges have beset me. Shadows doth occasionally conceal nefarious forces, seeking to test mine resolve. Yet, through the gifts bestowed upon me as a dream walker, and the protections I have woven, I have navigated these dangers with unwavering vigilance. I remain ever wary, forsooth, never underestimating the potency of lurking threats."
The Horned King's gaze softened, a mixture of pride and paternal protectiveness evident in his eyes. "Remember, Delia, thou dost bear the strength of our ancient lineage within thy very essence. Shouldst thou ever confront a peril too formidable to surmount alone, summon me forth, and I shall hasten to thy side with all the might at my disposal."
Delia reached forth, her hand gently resting upon her father's. "I am grateful for thy steadfast support, dear father. Thy words resonate deep within my heart. I shall not forget thy benevolent offer, yet I have learned to stand resolute, drawing upon mine own abilities when need be."
#/i just want a lover of delia's to be shoved in a closet and witnessing all this lmaooo#drabble#the demonic succubus || 😈

They look 10x better as thumbnails. Part of the problem is I’m drawing on very bumpy painting paper, the other part is that I am not an artist, I’m a cut-rate costumer at best.
Disclaimers on historical accuracy: This is a shameless blend of 17th and 19th century Polish noble (szlachta) costume. Some artistic liberties have been taken. Most of these fabrics should be brocade, but I’m not about to draw that by hand. The sashes (pas kontuszowy) should also be much more heavily embroidered. I haven’t seen any paintings of wolf skins worn in the manner Curufin is wearing his, but heavy furs were very common. Cheetah and tiger skins are depicted in several contemporary paintings, but usually not with the heads. Many modern reproductions of szlachta armor include them draped in this way. Usually, the hat is worn by the person, not the cheetah.
I have decided not to style the hair in a historically accurate manner just to save us all the pain. I’ve kept the long elven hair for all our sanity.
The szlachta costume consisted of the żupan, kontusz or delia, hat, szabla, pas kontuszowy and, optionally, a cloak/mantle/animal skin.
The żupan was the button-up shirt of the ensemble. It showed a bit at the chest and sometimes the sleeve. It often had buttons. It could also be worn alone, if you were poor. Here, Maedhros, Maglor and Curufin are wearing żupans. Maglor’s has fancy puffed sleeves.
The kontusz (no one here is wearing a delia) was an overcoat with often oversized slashed sleeves, called false sleeves. They could also be sleeveless. Here, Maedhros, Caranthir and Celegorm wear the sleeved variant. Mags is wearing the sleeveless variant.
The hat had to be worn by all polite gentlemen, which is why Celegorm isn’t wearing one. They generally had one or two feathers in them. I can’t find the name for them. Konfederatka springs to mind but I’m not sure that’s the actual name.
The szabla is the most important part of the ensemble. The middle ground between fancy dueling rapier and crusader sword, the szabla is most effective on and off horse and can be wielded as honorably or dishonorably as one likes. Truly the most versatile weapon to grace Middle-Earth, save perhaps the rolling pin.
Cloaks were worn for warmth (gee, thanks, whoda thunk) and were often made in part of a thick, warm hide, wool, and sometimes finer materials like something that looks like immensely heavy velvet were wasted on them.
Speaking of fabric, the rich man’s żupan was commonly made of silk brocade. The kontusz was also silk, generally lined in part with fur for winter, or with a complementary lining that was shown by the false sleeves, standing collar, or a particularly vindictive swish. Here, the characters are wearing mostly russet, brown, gold and black. Very festive of them, as it’s just coming up on fall!
Now on to character notes!
Maedhros is dressed the most historically accurate by a slim margin. He turned out quite a bit lighter here than I anticipated, for whatever reason.
Maglor is holding a suka (I know), an instrument sort of like a lap violin, evidently. Those puffy sleeves were a real thing. They just *screamed* Mags. Those aren’t even a particularly egregious example, if you can believe it.
Celegorm’s armor is actually not that far from an actual hussar, minus the wings and gold trim. Instead of a cross, I’ve included the Fëanorion star. In this universe, his cheetah drape has been affectionately named ‘Curvo’ and wears a hat that his namesake wore as a child. Tyelko’s shitty diadem is a quirk of his character and not something that was ever worn. (Fun meme: Celegorm invents the diadem by accident because he can’t get his tooth necklace over his big fuck-off hair).
That all-black outfit Caranthir is wearing is present in two paintings I can think of, and several photographs. Why doesn’t he win most accurate? That’s a mail shirt peeking out of his collar.
Curufin is wearing a wolfskin named Tyelko and branded on the paws with his insignia and his father’s. That hat is a bit more Russian than Polish, but eh, whatevs. This whole post is a middle finger to anyone who cares about Polish costume at this point anyway, everything’s all over the place and not the least accurate. Pengolodh would have my head.
The Ambarussa are tragically absent. They were both burnt at Losgar in this universe (actually I just ran out of space on the page).
Anyway, I’m feeling entirely too proud of what I’ve done here, so let’s say I stop the self aggrandizement now and let you notice the two or three fun details that remain (assuming fuckin anybody sees this post, lol). How about some other Finwions when I get around to this again? Could be Tuesday, could be November, we’ll just have to see.

Random facts about my various babies
Jeanette despite being one of the most visibly cheerful members of the gang has a sad backstory. She was one of the lucky ones who escaped Gnomeregan when it fell and made it to Ironforge. It’s where she met Thorhilde and she sorta latched onto her from there. Thorhilde acts like she’s the most annoying person in the world but adores her. They’re kinda in love but don’t know it yet shh
Gaillen bit Fae and that’s how she contracted the worgen curse. She’s never forgiven herself for it even if Fae sees the worgen curse as more of a blessing.
Fae is an angel but any other members of the gang will tell you they’ve never seen anything more terrifying than her fighting Arthas by Gaillen’s side. No ONE hurts her wife to be okay especially some princely frozen popsicle bitch boy
Saalina has the biggest soft spot for Anduin Wrynn. (Platonically for the record) and actually greatly admires him despite her being thousands of years older than him. She tries to model herself after him and not let her anger and grief get the best of her. The trip to Argus has been very rough on her. she’s also very protective of him seriously she will smite you if someone dares hurt a hair on Anduin’s head.
Laeona (The girls’ mama) raised Brightheart from birth when her mother abandoned her. She was a child herself and her parents figured it would be a good way to teach her responsibility. It worked. She bottle fed her and everything.and created a lifelong bond with not only Laeona but many, many years later..her children too.
It helped mold her Laeona into the kind, loving person she was. I mean you didn’t think her daughter’s habit of picking up strays came out of no where did you?
While Diily is amazing with a bow she sucks with a sword. She is quite good with a dagger however. Laeona taught her some basic skills and then later Erlaina helped her hone those skills. Just in case she’s ever caught off guard. She has quite a few daggers hidden in her armor courtesy of Erlaina. Hey, you never know what could happen-
Alaluria pretends she's not haunted by some of the things she's been ordered to do in Illidan's name. But she is. As much as she hates Akama and will torment the poor guy..she feels guilt over what happened with the Broken.
Allueneth (their dad) had two dads. They adopted him from an orphanage. He displayed his magical powers at a young age and they would have taken him to the city to learn more if he was interested but he was much more interested in fishing in the lake honestly. He learned a bit of this and that during his lifetime by never really cared much about it. When Ladelia showed her affinity for magic he dedicated much more time to learning and honing those skills so he could properly teach his daughter. They learned a lot together honestly. Delia is much more interested in magic than he was though
I think I’ve talked about Laeona’s upbringing before. Her family was fairly wealthy, stuffy in the way noble elves tend to be. She wanted none of that life. That girl wanted ADVENTURE. She’d sneak out into the woods with Brightheart most of the time.
They didn’t approve of Allueneth at all at first I mean *scoffs in nelf* he’s just some nobody who lives in the woods and fishes for a living...peasant. Giving to the needy and stuff is one thing. I mean they encourage that but taking one as your mate? *gasp* Laeona never cared and they eventually had no choice but to accept it and him because they didn’t want to lose her. But damn it the goofball grew on em a little eventually. He’s just too lovable to hate for long ;)
Both sets of grandparents adored their grandchildren. Honestly the girls probably have some aunts, uncles, cousins, etc but I haven’t got around to developing them. I’m already in so deep with Diily, Alaluria and Ladelia’s frickin..dead family
Laeona saved Allueneth’s from some bullies when they were kids and that’s how they met. He was starstruck by this little elf girl in her fancy dress and her nightsaber kicking some older night elves’ teeth in. Then she just looked at him and grinned. She was covered in dirt and had twigs and who knows what else in her hair but she was still the most beautiful thing he’d ever seen. Smitten from the very start.
Allueneth would adore Khadgar. To a degree of course. No one is good enough for any of his girls. No matter how amazing they are!
They would have totally had a few more kids if they lived. They loved being parents. Their girls were their entire world. (curse me for brutally killing them rip) They had a lot of love to give..but so do their girls too so :’)
Alaluria has quite literally beaten people to death with gems before. Enemies of course. She's also thrown one or two at Illidan's head. Don't worry they just bounce off...he has a hard head.
Diily woke up in bed with several Valajar the morning after her huntmaster party. Hey she was single then so why the hell not.
Ladelia develops crushes on 98% of the ladies she meets. She's just a very gay lovable mage
Hiti was a really lonely girl. She never really had any friends. She’s just shy and very anxious and now she’s got a family of her own albeit a bit of a crazy misfit one<3 also this big cutie loves to cook. Seriously she loves to e a t and she’s always feeding her misfit family. Ladelia is the same way. Good thing they’re all bottomless pits. Hrolf and Lyall in particular. They’ll eat anything. A n y t h i n g
Speaking of the big boofs. Hrolf loves all body types but he’s got an extra soft (er..hard) spot for chubbiness.
Hrolf had a crush on Ladelia but alas she doesn’t like men. He accepted her gentle rejection with grace and is now her wing-man.
Diily is very serious about using every part of her (animal) kills. I know I’ve talked about this on here before but it’s strangely sweet imo. But yeah. It’s disrespectful to just leave a kill. Respect the creature and the sacrifice it made you heathens.
You know...bone into weaponry, furs/leathers into blankets/clothing/armor/etc, meat for food (for both the group and her pets), etc..I’m the furthest thing from a hunter irl so I don’t know what else you can do but im sure there’s a lot. She’s mainly a leather-worker but is quite good with other things too but If she can’t do something with some part she gives it to someone who can.
(random: she has so many fur blankets. its impossible to be cold in her room.
Diily will let her cats eat you alive if you piss her off enough and oh...they will.if you upset their Diily
(and just think some of them are significantly bigger than big mama Shiva here and with saber tooth tiger fangs)
Erlaina is a bit of a hoarder. She loves gold and she loves stuff. She’s the one most of the gang tosses their stuff over to when they want it sold or held onto and she’s more than happy to take it off her hands. Diily has to prod her a bit sometimes when her uh...collection gets too big and needs to be sold.
Hasn’t really been shown much in my fics yet but this really is like a “found-family” kind of situation. They all really love each other dearly. Loyal as hell. It seems to just keep growing too
A family isn’t just two parents and some kids it can be...four night elves, four werewolves, a russian space goat, a gnome, a panda and a dwarf. ;)
Referring to them as “the gang” makes me laugh because it reminds me of IASIP.
you know im 90% sure I’ve talked about a lot of these before but /shrug I just like thinking and talking about them

I would live a lost-princess trope trashing novel when the lost princess is returned but WHOOPS no, it's not her, it's an enemy spy set on dismantling the kingdom from within
That sounds amazing! Also it prompted me to write 2,000 words so here you go, with my deepest apologies:
Princess Cecilie Camellia of Sevonia, who had until recentlybeen known only as Cammie, the kitchen girl at the Shield and Rose, took toroyalty like a charm. The skepticism expressed by a few courtiers and royaladvisors at her discovery quieted down as soon as they saw her sweeping throughthe corridors, graceful and shy, the very picture of the king’s first wife, rest her soul. How beautiful she was, dancing with her half-siblings in hersilk gowns! How kind she was, giving away food to the beggars at the castlegate! How genteel she was, learning tapestry and court manners and the lap harpwith the ease of true royal blood.
Prince Filbert Frederic of Sevonia, son of the king’s secondwife, who had retired to an abbey after growing tired of the king’s philandering, did not like her one bit.“She’s using all twenty three forks like a natural,” he confided in PrincessGabrielle Galina, who was busy flicking olive pits at the Minister ofAgriculture.
“You’re just jealous because Papa is making much of her,”Gaby said, squinting to improve her aim.
Filbert frowned at her. “You know I would rather Papa notnotice me at all,” he said. “Last time he remembered I exist, I had to spend aweek at a hunting lodge with him and Alexander.”
“Yes, yes, and you had to cancel your tryst with what’s-his-face,I remember.” The olive pit landed in the Minister of Agriculture’s wine glass.“Listen, Cecilie has royal blood. Plus, she was working at an inn, so she knowshow to set a table, and she’s been learning proper manners and everything. There’s no reason for her not to use the artichoke pincers properly.”
“And how long did it take you to learn them?” Filbert asked.Gaby scowled. “She’s only been in the castle for two weeks! Besides, she was akitchen girl, and besides number two, no one outside the royal household usesthe artichoke pincers.”
“Really?” Gaby asked idly, filching Filbert’s olive pits.“How do they eat artichokes, then?”
“They don’t,” Filbert said, but Gaby had already turned herattention to filling Lady Troumant’s hat brim with olive pits.
+
“Oh, thank goodness,” said Cecilie, when Filbert found heron his way to the royal archives. “I’m hopelessly lost. This place is a maze, and it’s enormous.”
“Well, it is a castle,” Filbert said. “Where were you going?I can point you in that direction.”
“Oh, I was just wandering about, but I got so turned aroundand I promised Elena I’d have tea with her and her lady-in-waiting.”
“…Well, you’re on the opposite side of the castle from theliving compartments,” Filbert said slowly. “This is the ministry side of thecastle.”
“Is it?”
“Yes. You’re right next to the…” Filbert glanced at thenondescript door to the Royal Spymaster’s offices and hurriedly changed tack.“The Minister of Education’s offices.”
“Oh dear.”
“Yes, and I think I should walk you to Delia’s rooms. Likeyou said, this place is a maze.” He offered her his arm.
“Thank you so much, dear brother,” Cecilie said sweetly. Itwas too sweet. Filbert had grown up with enough noble girls to know that whensomeone looked at you like that, she actually wanted to kill you. Her grip onhis arm was feather light, but Filbert imagined that she wanted to dig hernails into his flesh. “That is so kind.”
+
“Gaby tells me that you’ve been worried about Cecilie’sadjustment to royal life.”
Filbert looked away from the window into the face of hisbrother. “Bastian. What are you doing out of a meeting? Are we at war?”
“Very funny, Filbert,” said Prince Bastian Bernard, who wasso rarely outside the castle that he was often rumored to be dead. He joinedFilbert at the window, which overlooked the castle gate. Currently, the beggarswhich gathered there were crowded around Cecilie, who was handing out food. Itwas quite a large crowd. “It doesn’t look like she’s having trouble adjustingto me.”
“I wasn’t exactly worried about her adjusting,” Filbertsaid. “I think she’s adjusting too well. Like, suspiciously well.”
Bastian raised an eyebrow. “Of course.”
“I mean, she knows everybody’s names, she gets all thedances right…she’s only been here for a few months. This isn’t normal.”
“Just because you can’t dance…”
“This isn’t about me!” Filbert snapped. “A week ago I foundher wandering around the spymaster’s chambers, claiming she was lost.”
“Maybe she waslost,” Bastian pointed out.
Filbert shrugged. Outside, a little girl handed Cecilie aflower.
“The people like her, and we could use their support rightnow.” Bastian patted him on the arm. “Do try to be less odd, Fil.”
+
Noise was made about Cecilie being wed to a suitable foreignking – she was of age, and the negotiations for Elena’s hand in marriage werealmost over, and how inappropriate that a younger daughter be married beforeher elder sister – and Filbert almost breathed a sigh of relief. Cecilie couldhardly make trouble for Sevonia if she was across the sea, ruling in Jaroc.
The king of Jaroc arrived for a visit. There were severalballs planned, and a feast that sent the kitchens into a tizzy. The balls werepleasant enough, the feast decadent. The king of Jaroc was handsome and dashingand solicitous.
It only took a few days for the whole thing to fall apart.Someone said something at a party, although later no one knew who had said it;a glass of wine was spilled on someone’s gown; a turn of phrase in a speechwent down wrong. The feast ended with Cecilie, pale and trembling, beingushered out of the hall, while dignitaries threw insults at each other.
The king of Jaroc and his retinue left Sevonia in highdudgeon.
“It could be worse,” Sir Oscar comforted Filbert. “They’re asmall kingdom.”
“The king’s aunt is Dowager Queen of Pela-Pela,” Filbertsaid glumly, naming one of the largest kingdoms in the area.
“You’re not even involved in ruling,” Oscar said. “Come on,have a drink. Dance with me.”
“Pass, thanks,” Filbert said. He hardly even noticed Oscarleaving.
+
For a while, nothing happened, but Filbert couldn't let itgo. Cecilie’s graces and mannerisms were too perfect, her behavior too good. She was everything a princess should be, when Filbert knew that the royalfamily was entirely comprised of horrible brats and selfish, power hungryassholes.
Something about her kept niggling at him until, in the finetraditions of royal brotherhood, Filbert payed off a castle page to report to him onCecilie’s doings. The girl fell ill within the week, but not before she toldhim that Cecilie was completely normal, and a lovely person besides. Why, theprincess had even given her candy.
The next page broke his neck. Filbert stopped paying thepages to spy on her.
+
Where Cecilie walked, ruin followed. Filbert was sure of it,but no-one believed him.
Cecilie had a picnic with Elena. Elena broke her engagementto Duke Galen, estranging one of the most powerful families in the kingdom.Cecilie danced with so-and-so. Feuds broke out in the court. Cecilie had aquestion for the Royal Treasurer. Papers went missing from his office, and aproclamation was issued to raise taxes which the Royal Treasurer claimed toknow nothing of. (The king was quite pleased with that turn of events.)
Of course, all of these things could easily be dismissed ascoincidences. Elena could have heard about the Duke’s mistresses from anyone. The court feuded constantly (although usually not so bitterly). People went inand out of the Royal Treasurer’s office all the time, and mistakes happened.
Filbert was not fooled.
+
It was a relief when Cecilie chose to join the royalhousehold’s excursion to the summer castle in June. Filbert always chose tostay behind, relishing the quiet and relative solitude. He dined with Elena, who was ill and could not travel, and he had his own duties to attend to, butsocial life crawled to a halt.
Three days in, a messenger came from the summer castle.Bastian had fallen from a cliff and broken his neck. He had been discovered byCecilie.
The kingdom donned mourning. Filbert resolved to act.
+
Bastian’s duties were heavy, and they were now Filbert’s.There was no time now to worry about Cecilie, not when he knew that the kingdomof Jaroc was extremely displeased with them, and the treaty with Pela-Pela wason shaky ground, and there was unrest in the city, and the border with Veronewas teeming with bandits, and the grain stores had gone bad with mold. On topof that, the spymaster claimed that there was a plan to assassinate the kingand his heir.
“Isn’t there always?” Filbert asked tiredly.
“A new plan,” the spymaster insisted. “To kill His Majestyand Prince Alexander Amery from the inside. Plant a mole.”
Filbert straightened in his chair instantly. “Do you knowanything else about this plan?”
“Not yet,” said the spymaster. “But I can find out, yes?”
“Yes. It is most important,” Filbert said firmly.
+
There were additional guards set around the king’sbedchambers. Alexander was forbidden from inviting anyone into his bed, unlesshe wished to wait until the spymaster interrogated them. The food tasternervously insisted on bringing on his assistant for the king’s every snack.
The kingdom could hardly bear the expenses. They werealready paying for extra patrols on the border, paying extra for every shipmentfrom Jaroc now, paying extra for grain from Pela-Pela. But bear the expensethey must.
Months later, when the extra guards had been retired and thespymaster was sure the assassins had fled the kingdom, the king decided to goon a hunting trip. He insisted that both his eldest sons come with him. Filbertinsisted that he was busy, and Bastian had always stayed behind, and besides, perhaps it would be wiser not to return to the hunting lodge this winter…
It was always, always worse to be right, Filbert decided, when the king’s corpse, peppered with arrows, was returned to the castle.
+
The coronation was a tiny thing. The royal procession waslikewise dull, and shorter than any in the history of the kingdom. All otherfestivities were cancelled, and Alexander was kept under lock and key. Noexcursions to the city, no parties, no women. The castle gates were closed andbarred. The guards were ordered to trust no one.
The people of the kingdom were worried. The people of thecity were terrified. The court was panicking.
Filbert had no time for them. Alexander was even less of aking than their father had been, and like Bastian before him, he had a kingdomto run.
+
It was late at night, and most of the castle was asleep.Filbert’s lamp had run out of oil, and instead of retiring for the night, heelected to work by candlelight. The grain shipments were being waylaid, and ahidden border garrison had been viciously attacked. Sleep was for people withless worries.
When the candle nearest the door flickered and went out,Filbert didn’t think much of it. By the time it had occurred to him to considerlighting it again, there was a knife at his throat.
“I thought you operated by morediscreet measures,” Filbert said to his inkwell.
“I did consider poisoning you,”said the dulcet tones of Princess Cecilie, “but the maids say that you hardlyeat, and I haven't much arsenic left.”
“That's too bad. I suspect Iwould have preferred death by poison.”
“Probably.”
Filbert cleared his throat.Carefully. “And what happens if I scream?”
Cecilie hummed, considering.“Then I escape through the secret passage behind the tapestry.”
“Good eye.”
“Castle plans.”
“Ah. Why not Alexander?”
“Don't be stupid. Your brotherwill run this kingdom into the ground all by himself. He's making my jobeasier.”
“Tell me about it.” Filbertwaved a hand at the paper littering his desktop. “Do you know how much thefamily spends on silks alone? I could feed the kingdom for a year if Elena gaveme her jewelry money.”
“I know. Really, I'm doing you afavor. You'd end up with your head on a spike sooner or later anyway, with theway the kingdom is going. At least I'm fast.”
“I suppose. Are you working forVerone? Or Hevriel? I can't imagine any of the coastal kingdoms pulling thisstunt. They're too busy infighting.”
“Wouldn't you like to know,”Cecilie said. “Look, I'm tired of this. It's been a long year, and I promisedHer Majesty I'd be done with you all a month ago.”
“Wait!” Filbert blurted. “I havean offer for you.”
Cecilie sighed. “This is gettingtiresome.”
“Listen,” Filbert said.
+
The next day Alexander was dead, apparently by his own hand, and Cecilie, next in line for the throne, wascrowned as Queen Cecilie Camellia, first of her name. Hers was a very long, prosperous reign, marked by a trade treaty with Pela-Pela, lower taxes, a moreaustere court, and the sudden death of all who opposed her.
Funny, that.

Just a heads up: The book becomes really bad and it’s very clear now that it’s problematic
We to get know that the King’s full name is Jameson Barclay only in the 19th chapter. Just wonderful.
_____________________
... Yes, there was something very charming about Silas Eastoffe.
But seeing as he was not Jameson Barclay, it really didn’t matter. Charm wouldn’t give me a crown or bring hope to a kingdom.
I’m really confused. Hollis hasn’t for a single moment expressed any ambition to be Queen, and in fact she’s made statements akin to “Heavy is the head that wears the crown” in the book previously.
_____________________
Silas’s sister Scarlett has tiny fingers and Kiera’s mentioned that too many times to reiterate how important they are for her to be able to “finish off a piece of jewelry or ... polish a sword” when Silas and his brother are done forging. She’s clearly not done her research. -_-
_____________________
Just the next line and Hollis is saying forging is a remarkable skill and that her skill for sewing is useless. -_-
Also, Kiera hasn’t used the words “smith”, “blacksmith” or “forging” a single time so far. Not once. She’s either referred to it as metalwork or just makes references to fire, metal, swords and jewellery.
Also, how is it possible for a metalworker to be able to forge both weapons and jewellery?
_____________________
Now that Valentina and Hollis are friends, Valentina’s been reduced to a dumbass who smiles all the time and laughs at Hollis’s dumb jokes.
_____________________
I shrugged. “I wish everyone felt the same way, but I’m glad Jameson appreciates me. What is it that drew King Quinten to you? You didn’t really say much about it earlier.”
Her eyes were instantly distant. “I don’t talk about it much,” she admitted.
Grammar??? Hello??? “Her eyes became distant instantly” sounds much better!
_____________________
Hollis and Valentina went from talking about King Quentin’s sick son to discussing the weather in a matter of sentences without skipping a beat. Just... wow.
_____________________
Oh my god this conversation is written so badly.
_____________________
They were having a decent enough conversation and then Valentina started to feel sick. For no reason at all she told Hollis she’d “end her life” (Hollis’s life) if she told anyone about her bout of sickness.
*consistent characterisation has left the chat*
_____________________
Some dramatic references to a dangerous they are made by Valentina. Then Hollis thinks this:
Wait . . . what was she trying to say? And who were they? Before I could figure out how to form my next question, she was standing, straightening her robe, and walking from the room.
I’m not even kidding when I say that I last wrote passages like this in seventh grade.
_____________________
Speculations of a dangerous group of people possibly being “gypsies”. Guys... This. Is. NOT. Okay.
“Who are the Darkest Knights?”
“We don’t know. Some say they are nobles, others say they are gypsies. Some are convinced they’re members of the royal guard, but no one can be sure. Their identities have been carefully protected, which is a necessity, because when they come, their destruction is absolute. It’s inspired rage of the most acute nature in my homeland. I knew a man who lost everything in a fire supposedly started by them, and he went out to take revenge against someone he believed was a Darkest Knight. Killed an entire family.”
_____________________
Valentina asked Hollis to never share their conversation with anyone and Hollis of course went straight to Silas and spouted everything as if she can trust him just because he’s sweet to her. What a fucking dumbass. She trusts the Eastoffe family because they all smile at her every single time they cross paths.
_____________________
Silas and Hollis are making declarations of love and I -
Fucking where’s the buildup? Granted, it had more buildup than her relationship with Jameson but??? All he’s done to garner her “love” so far is win a jousting competition and craft crowns. That’s it. (I also feel the need to mention that she was smitten with him before the tournament and I have no idea why that happened apart from the fact that he has “crushing blue eyes” and his family smiles a lot.)
_____________________
This book is SO poorly written.
Hollis receives a letter from the kind “demanding” her presence and Kiera instills a sense of fear in the readers. Then she does this:
I briefly took in their smug expressions before Jameson leaped to his feet to greet me.
“My own heart!” he sang, holding out his arms. “Are you well today?”
This book is so fucking ridiculous.
_____________________
Referring to women as possessions:
“At least yours arrives on time,” he [King Quinten] muttered.
... Quinten nodded at this. “And you’re sure she [Hollis] is from good stock?” (With respect to being fertile)
and now Jameson counters this by saying this:
Jameson straightened in his chair. “Are your eyes failing? All you need do is look at her.”
So beauty = fertility? Wtf is wrong with this book?
_____________________
“Your Majesty, while you have made your intentions clear as regards Lady Hollis, by law you cannot put her name on the document before you are married.”
Jameson huffed. “This is a ridiculous triviality. She’s as good as my wife.”
Hollis is not queen yet. Hollis is not queen yet. Jameson is a fucking dumbass.
_____________________
The kings signed an agreement (it’s not specified about what) which included a promise to marry off Hollis and Jameson’s child with Quentin’s grandchild (if he got a grandchild). They’re not even married.
_____________________
“It would have been no contest there,” I remarked, and Jameson laughed again. I’d once considered a laugh from Jameson something like a prize; now it was so frequent it felt like noise.
W-what? Kiera just wrote that? So I wasn’t imagining it.
_____________________
So it’s at the end of chapter 21 that we learn Hollis has “olive skin”. Then why’s there a white woman on the front cover?
_____________________
Hollis is “crying violently” now.
_____________________
Hollis and Delia Grace’s relationship is really toxic. Delia Grace has tried to control who Hollis’s ladies could be and Hollis was eager to become queen so that she could use her position to make people like Delia better (she’s a daughter of a divorcee and that’s apparently really bad).
I think it’s best if you read this scene for yourselves. It begins with Hollis wondering whether the crown is worth it because she fears Jameson will become possessive:
“Don’t do this,” she said. “If you fail, you drag me down, too. I can’t stand for it, Hollis, I won’t.”
“Would you ask me to be miserable so you could marry some reputable lord you don’t even care about so people will finally shut up about you?”
“Yes! It’s exhausting!” she lamented, bordering on tears that she refused to let fall. “I’ve lived an entire life with people whispering behind my back. And that was if they weren’t brazen enough to insult me to my face. Now I’m the principal lady for the queen, and that gives me a chance at being respected. Wouldn’t you take it if it was all you could get?”
“What if we could get something better?” I proposed.
“Better than a king? Hollis, you can’t do any better than that! And I certainly can’t do anything if you don’t follow through.” She was quiet for a moment. “What in the world has happened to you? What would make you think . . . Is there someone else?”
“No,” I replied quickly. “It’s the thought of losing . . . myself. The benefits of being queen are not lost on me. But neither are the ones of being a private person. First it was the lords and their many complaints. And then it was dealing with visiting royals. And now . . . Jameson’s promised our first daughter away.” I swallowed, hardly able to speak of it. “He could give all my children away. To anyone. To people who don’t even care about them.”
She shook her head and started muttering. “It should have been me.”
“What?”
She stood there, glaring at me with dark eyes that managed to look icy. “I said, it should have been me!”
... “If you had been paying attention to anyone but yourself, you’d have seen that I was watching Jameson very carefully. I could see he was getting bored with Hannah. I knew he’d be ready for someone new soon. All these little rudimentary lessons you were taking to prepare for Quinten’s visit? I’ve already learned it all. There are plenty of books in that castle to teach you about Coroan history or relations with Isolte and Mooreland and Catal. You were just too lazy to ever go look.” She shook her head, gazing at the sky before coming back to me. “Did you know I can speak four languages?”
“Four? No. When did you—”
“Over the last several years while you were off making dances and whining about your parents. All you ever had to do was try, and you didn’t. But I did! I was perfecting myself. You don’t even look like a proper Coroan,” she shot out.
_____________________
“I [Delia] was trying to make you fall on your backside so I could rush over to your aid. I saw the king coming behind you and was intending to arrange a memorable meeting, one where he might be able to tell me apart from the scores of girls fawning over him. I thought if I could make an impression, he’d at least see me. But I let go at the wrong time, fell myself, and he caught you.” She said this with a bitterness that stung like arrows. “I made a mistake and erased myself from his thoughts completely.”
WHAT. THE. FUCK.

Celebrating Saint Valentine in style
It was a real privilege to attend the first edition of The Grand Ball of Princes and Princesses, organized by famous Opera singer and friend Delia Grace Noble, under the High Patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, in the splendid Salle Empire of the Hotel de Paris, on the occasion of Saint Valentine’s on Thursday, February 14, 2019.
This romantic alluring Ball enthroned the recently reopening of the landmark hotel in the heart of Monte-Carlo, and it was the perfect occasion to celebrate love in style!
The dress code called for the most luxurious attire, with ladies looking fabulous in their floor-length evening ball gowns and wearing a tiara, with the handsome men wearing ceremonial suits, and they were treated like royalty during this memorable romantic evening.
A royal welcome to a glamorous Ball
The stairs of the legendary Hotel de Paris were covered with a red carpet and flanked with men in period costumes with flags raised to herald the arrival of the elegant guests, while the fanfare of trumpets resounded in the Casino Square, for a royal welcome!
Everybody met in the lobby of the Hotel de Paris, before being invited to enter the splendid Salle Empire, where they were in awe admiring the tables beautifully decorated in golden tones, and adorned with cascades of roses and candles.

The Robe that H.S.H. Princess Grace of Monaco wore to the Centennial Ball in 1966 in the Casino of Monaco was on exhibit at the Salle Empire, for everybody to admire. The Princess was wearing the coronation crown of Empress Josephine of France.

Funds raised during the silent auction of lots kindly offered by generous donors, will benefit the Princess Grace Foundation, represented at the Ball by the enchanting ambassador Adriana Karembeu.
A fairy tale story of pure artistry
The highly creative Delia Grace Noble has organized other successful Balls but I believe this one was her crowning accomplishment!
Host Rupert Wynne-James, a well-known former British tennis pro turned movie actor, took the guests on an imaginary voyage by recounting a fairy tale of Prince Charming and his Princess when they met for the first time at the Ball, while presenting the different artists that succeeded one after another like in a never ending fantastic dream. Delia created a magnificent show of pure artistry with a star-studded cast, with live music by the soloists of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Monte-Carlo, and the performance of high-level Opera singers, such as Romanian Tenor Alin Stoica, French Mezzo-Soprano Beatrice Uria Monzon, Cristina Pasaroiu from Bucharest who has been celebrated at many of the most prestigious opera houses and concert halls around the world.
Mariinsky Ballet dancer Alexei Tyutyunnik and Irina Lerman were wonderful in their pas de deux, and Anca Elena Andronache from National Opera in Romania, was an enchanting Sleeping Beauty, and the TK TS Starlet Brno ballroom dancing group from Czech Republic, were exquisite on the dance floor in their flowing gowns and ceremonial suits.

And if that was not enough guests were delighted by the mesmerizing deep jazz voice of soul, pop, jazz singer and songwriter Anna Soklich from Slovakia, and the dancing music by PAPA DJ Monaco who kept everybody dancing enthusiastically.

A banquet fit for a Prince
The elegant women and handsome men enjoyed an exceptional gourmet banquet specially signed by Michelin-starred Chef Alain Ducasse.
The menu included golden sautéed scallops with fresh asparagus from Provence, followed by an exquisite Champagne risotto with gold leaves, and Rossini Beef tenderloin and pure with black truffles, ending up with a dessert of coconut and passion fruit adorned with a tiara.
The excellent wines were from the cellars of Borgo La Caccia in the Lake Garda region of Italy.
In the name of culture and sophistication
The Grand Ball of Princes and Princesses becomes the third in a series of successful spectacular high-flying social gatherings created by Delia Grace Noble – The Grand Masked Ball of Venice in Monte-Carlo in 2017 followed by its second edition in 2018, and the Venice Masked Ball at the historic Cipriani Hotel that opened the 75th Film Festival in Venice in August 2018.
These magnificent events are part of a social and cultural exchange between Monaco and Venice, and counts with the continuous support of the Mayor Georges Marsan, and the Tourism Office of the Principality. See you at the Ball next year!
Like all fairy tales the Ball came to an end, but hopefully we will revive the dream again next year during the second edition of The Grand Ball of Princes & Princesses!

Masquerade balls through the centuries
As early as the 15th century masquerade balls were a feature of the Carnival season, involving elaborate allegorical Royal Entries, pageants, and triumphal processions celebrating weddings and other ancestry events, part of the late medieval court life.
In the 16th century renaissance the masked balls became part of the public festivities in Italy, consisting of elaborate dances mainly for members of the upper classes, particularly popular in Venice. The use and tradition of masks suffered a decline with the fall of the Venetian Republic. But the masked balls began to gain popularity in mainland Europe in the 17th and 18th centuries, often with fatal results, like the assassination of Gustav III of Sweden at a masquerade ball that was immortalized in Giuseppe Verdi’s opera A Masked Ball.
Masquerade dances became popular in Colonial America, but some considered them to encourage immorality and foreign influence, as hiding one’s identity behind the masks, people could express their freedom of speech, and voice their emotions without judgment. And so masquerade balls continued but in a semi-private way.
The theme of the ball is love
Delia Grace Noble, was very enthusiastic and highly emotional when discussing the components of The Grand Masked Ball, which theme is Love. Delia is putting all her passion in re-introducing the masquerade balls in the Principality with a series of events representing the spirit and tradition of the legendary Carnival in Venice. The first edition was quite successful and the second promises to surpass all expectations. The Salle des Etoiles, the legendary venue on the Côte d’Azur, will be transformed again into a Venetian Palace becoming the perfect setting for an exclusive magical evening.
On arrival, pageants in period costumes will flank the entrance sounding their trumpets and drums making everybody feel like royalty. Upon accessing the Salle des Etoiles everybody will be able to admire the beautiful decorations on the stage, taking you back to another ear, taking in the ambiance where guests were dressed in richly decorated and flamboyant period costumes from the famous Nicolao Atelier in Venice, and wearing wonderful masks adorned with gems, ribbons and feathers, hiding their true identity, feeling mysterious and part of a guessing game where no one would reveal who they are until well after midnight! You felt actually transported back in time to mysterious Venice in the middle of the Carnival Celebrations, where masked revelers enjoy music and dancing until the wee hours of the morning!
Guests will be able to rent wonderful period costumes from the Nicolao Atelier tailor’s shop dating from 1980, a label of excellence whose creations have been exported all over the world, exhibited in Opera houses, Theaters, Ballet, movies and TV. The atelier represents the true Made-in-Italy employing expert artisans, using precious fabrics with authentic cuts and styles adding a touch of class to the magnificent suits and dresses.

Traveling back in time to the splendor of La Serenissima
The Principality of Monaco hosted the Venice in Monte-Carlo Grand Masked ball to open the international Carnival season this past weekend February 3-5, 2017, under the high patronage of HSH Prince Albert II, and the support of the Tourist Office of Monaco, and under the main sponsorship of Distinction Fine Armagnac.
This very ambitious project brainchild of Opera singer Della Grace Noble, included a reception in collaboration with the Yacht Club of Monaco, a Grand Venetian Masked Ball in period costumes in the sumptuous décor of the Salle des Etoiles of the Sporting Monte-Carlo, and a colorful parade in the Casino Square. The founder’s motto is “do everything with your heart”, and she did, making her dream came true of re-introducing costumed balls in Monaco with a series of events representing the spirit and tradition of the legendary Carnival in Venice. The complex operation that took two years in the making had just a few logistic flaws, usually expected for a first edition, but all in all it was quite a fruitful achievement.
Backstage trying costumes for the Ball
The organisers thought of every detail and hundreds of period costumes and elaborated masks were brought directly from Venice by the celebrated Nicolao Atelier, to be used by the more than 70 performers and that the 300 guests were able to rent to get into the real spirit of the Grand Masked Ball of Venice in Monte-Carlo.

The atmosphere was that of an exclusive party in an Italian Palazzo, where the distinguished guests were invited to savor a delicious gourmet dinner at candlelight, seated at the lavishly decorated tables, while enjoying a myriad of fantastic performances by more than seventy talented comedians, dancers, acrobats and singers coming from Venice, wearing beautiful costumes dancing and singing to love, and in between the acts the orchestra playing the Four Seasons of Vivaldi, all under the baton of no other than Casanova the superb official Master of Ceremonies of Venice. Guests were witnesses to a crescendo of visual effects, sublime music, fascinating dances and artistic performances worthy of the most famous musical comedies, making it an unforgettable experience. The guest star of the evening was the celebrated Italian singer Richard Cocciante who delighted the audience with his famous songs. The lavished, refined and exclusive Grand Masked Ball was a truly artistic event of excellence and an unforgettable experience that united the privileged guests to experience a magical illusion and share a dream in which everything is possible.
