Bernie Mac, born Bernard Jeffrey McCullough, was a true gem in the world of comedy. Born and raised in Chicago, he had a tough upbringing, but he used those experiences to fuel his humor. His comedy was raw, real, and relatable. He had a unique style of comedy that was both edgy and warm-hearted, a combo that's pretty hard to pull off!
He started his career doing stand-up in Chicago's clubs before making it big in HBO's "Def Comedy Jam." His iconic "I ain't scared of you..." line is still quoted today. Bernie's humor was fearless, he wasn't afraid to push boundaries and speak his mind, which is part of what made him so special.
His success in stand-up led him to Hollywood. He was part of the "Original Kings of Comedy," a stand-up tour and film that also featured Steve Harvey, D.L. Hughley, and Cedric the Entertainer. Bernie also had a successful career in film and television. His role in "The Bernie Mac Show" was beloved by many, and he showed his range with roles in films like "Ocean's Eleven."
But what I think made Bernie Mac truly special was his heart. He was known to be incredibly kind and generous off the stage. He used his success to give back to his community and help others. His legacy in comedy is undeniable, but his impact extends beyond just making people laugh.
Bernie Mac left us too soon, but his humor and spirit live on. His ability to make people laugh, his fearlessness on stage, and his big heart are all part of what made him a legend.

SDJ BOYS AS : BARTENDERS
Jack:
Probably a restaurant bar kind of guy. Loves to make a show out of pours, lots of tricks and pretty drinks and unexpected ingredients. You know that one video of the guy pouring out shots that make a rainbow? Yeah that’s him. He’s a total ham and he loves chatting up patrons, gives very polite advice. Jack’s a real sweetheart, he checks in on frequenters and he’s quick to cut people off if he needs to. Def gives out too many freebies but he’s just kind. He’s got a fun pun name for every custom mix he does. A hopeless romantic that loves giving cute drinks to people on dates.
Shaun:
Def at like a rave club or a goth club. Besties with the dj, so quite a few of the songs in the playlist are per his recommendation. Lots of jokes and super snarky with patrons. He’s the type to people watch and flag down regulars to catch up. He gives really unbiased opinions, like talking to a friend. You cannot out flirt him dude, but he will think it’s cute if you try. Def the type of guy to name his custom mixes after horror icons. He’s always jamming behind the bar, he’s got an ear to the ground and he’s plugged in to all the cool places in town if you ask. Get him talking about films and you’ll be there all night, but it’s a great talk.
Nick:
Gives me Jazz Club/ Night Club vibes
Quiet, but smirks a lot at patrons conversations. He’s in his element, dude’s like hypnotic. He kinda grooves while he mixes, like he’s on beat with it. Starts patrons off with a couple questions, then makes them something that he thinks would suit them. He’s mostly going on feel, but his instincts are almost always right. He’s really quippy if he knows you, but you’ve got to get to that point. He’s got all the regulars favorites memorized.
Ian:
Theater Bar. Every show he’s got memorized, you can absolutely hear him singing along when a musical is showing. He’s shy, and a little clumsy, but he’s charming with patrons. A great shoulder to lean on, loves listening and secretly relishes in the drama he hears at the bar. Doesn’t do a lot of original drinks, more-so just tests things out while he’s at home and writes them down. Will hand out his headshots if the occasion calls for it. They’re just. on a shelf under the bar. Most likely to take lil shots every now and then. You can hear him occasionally rehearsing for his own acting career under his breath as he works.
Bonus Jacktor:
Biker Bar all the way. Definitely picks up shifts whenever he drifts into another town. He seems really really reserved but in the occasional quiet moment you can hear him snickering at a joke. Breaks up fights SO fast. All it takes is for him to talk to folks for like a minute and it’s all good. Never stays in the same place for long, he likes the changing energy and hearing people’s stories. Puts the crowd pleasers that everyone knows on the jukebox just to see everyone have fun. Master of keeping the vibes cool. Does that thing where you slide the glass down the counter to somebody. Huge flirt, but just as easily flustered. He looks like he’s exhausted being there, but really he’s just focused. Seems really intense, but hes just quiet. Huge sweetie.
#sdj jack#sdj joseph#sdj shaun#sdj ian#sdj nick#swwsdj#sdj au#PLEASE idk if this makes any sense im very sleepy#i just thought theyd all look cute mixing drinks#somethings wrong with sunny day jack

*My main interest here is to show people the utter insanity of OG2, but for that game to make sense, you have to see OG1, which is the opposite of a problem, because it fits right home in my list of vaunted "Very Interesting Games" alongside the likes of Def Jam: Fight For NY, Soulcalibur III or Trails from Zero+Trails to Azure.
Just like Def Jam FFNY is incredibly interesting in that it's a fighting game designed with a single player focus first and foremost, Soulcalibur III, despite being a competitive focus arcade fighter, went out of its way to have incredibly robust single player features and replayability, and how ZeroAzure utilize the limited size of the PSP, their original console, intelligently in making a game with iconic, revisitable environments and an incredibly good, small cast of characters to keep the game fresh even though you are never really going out on an adventure and yet it feels like you went on three of them by the end, OG1 is a well designed, perhaps too ambitious (affectionate) SRPG that really drives home the importance of managing limited resources in both a micro (stage by stage) and macro (the entirety of the game) stage, as there is a finite amount of every resource, experience included. Additionally, it's a game that spins off from a franchise mainly known to do crossover titles, but now it's fully original, in-house characters, letting them tell stories with a lot more freedom and being able to go balls to the walls with it. Had it been only of these factors, it'd already be an interesting game, but it's both simultaneously, which is why I call this a Really Good SRPG and not a Really Good Mecha SRPG; I recommend this game not because it's got cool mechs (and it does) but because it's a phenomenal SRPG first and foremost, that just so happens to have mechs.
All that is to say: Having to show OG1 before OG2 is the opposite of a problem, but ultimately one cannot ignore the concrete fact that I want to show OG2 more because that one has Lamia Loveless and Axel Almer who completely rewired my brain chemistry back then and are characters I consider Formative to who I am Today.

Rihanna
Los álbumes generaron una serie de sencillos que encabezaron las listas de éxitos, incluidos «Rude Boy», «Only Girl (In the World)», «What's My Name?», «S&M», «We Found Love», «Where Have You Been» y «Diamonds».

Something interesting I just learned, Def jam icon has a character creator, but you can only use it to make different kinds of black guys. Even the lightest skin color is for making albino black guys.

happy to see you around here more these days 🫶what hobbies are keeping you sane these days?
hiii it's nice to see you around too! fun fact i had no idea who you were until the other day when i saw you reblog something from green-and-grey which was a url I DID recognize and then i realized it was you lol. the perils of all our changing icons/urls....
During the light half of the year, I do a lot of rollerblading with a local skate group, and that def really keeps me sane:
I also do a lot of random arts and crafts! I'm currently learning to crochet, I love doing paint by numbers, I love painting rocks, I'm getting back into embroidery and starting to embroider my clothes, one of me has gotten back into writing a lot of poetry, plus as always I also love taking pics of things and people. I've found a joy in just creating for the sake of it without purpose and have been making more art out of random things, like i made a little shadowbox scene by gluing in stones from the beach I collected over a painted backdrop. I also love puzzles and should do them more tbh. I don't do as much music anymore, but I do like to jam with a friend sometimes.
Here's a paint by numbers i did that took a while lol:
Here's the most recent volume of V's journal where we made the front and inside cover into a collage:
and here's some suncatchers I made the other day from beads we got from necklaces at the antique fair!

CHARACTER INFO SHEET ;
NAME : taiyang theodoré tseng .
NAME MEANING : sun / god-given gift / high, elevated, steep
ALIAS : mostly just 'tai' .
ETHNICITY : taiwanese .
ONE PICTURE / ICON YOU LIKE BEST OF YOUR CHARACTER : hmmmmmm... many options asjjaj but this one is one of my fav graphics i've made !!
THREE HCS YOU NEVER TOLD ANYONE :
a weird, (?) comfort food that he will make is a pb&j sandwich but with strawberry jam or orange marmalade (or both!) and peanutbutter... and he'll add marshmallow fluff if there is some in the pantry, if he wants a sweet treat. : 3
in his vampire verse, he has shadow/darkness manipulation magic, && can shift into a black wolf : 33 he has the capability of shifting into pretty much any nocturnal predatory creature ( yes, including bats asjajj ) but it's a difficult and learned skill, and a wolf is the only one he is practiced at && is good at so far......... he's practicing how to git gud at birds and other creatures of flight because that would be hella useful but. he's not very good at it at the time and can only do it for a short burst jasjajj. these shifting abilities ONLY work at night, though!! only when the moon is out; never in the daytime .
the man who took care of little-tai while his father was in jail ( who is his dad's best friend ) was very frugal, modest in accommodation's, and believed that anything extraneous to be bought for the household, tai had to earn. mostly by doing chores or something else productive with his time. because of this, he grew up without a lot of 'luxuries' that others were accustomed to: for example, there was no internet access in his home; he had to go to the library or his school to use the internet! and he didn't have a cell phone until he was 17, and that's because he saved up money from a summer job to buy his own... and on a similar vein ( perhaps because of this ), he's not as addicted to tech as a lot of other people his age?? he uses social media but in like... low-moderate amounts. he's def not addicted to it and he doesn't use it all that often, comparative to most people in his age/generation group.
THREE THINGS YOUR CHARACTER LIKES TO DO IN THEIR FREE TIME :
jogging / hiking, etc; finding a place in nature that is pretty/cool and hanging out there, enjoying the ambience . . .
he's not extremely mechanically knowledge, but if there is any work he can do himself on his car(s), he rly enjoys when he can do it! the hands-on challenge is fun & it's satisfying to know he did it HIMSELF. he likes cars in general; likes going on drives while listening to music, likes checking out interesting/sEXy/rare models of cars ... even in verses where racing is not a thing he does/did, he enjoys car shows, clubs, shops, etc; he might go them if he's bored and they're around. he luvs his car; it his babie <; 3
pretty much anything to do with animals; he will meet up with someone there so fast!! the zoo, aquarium, dog parks, etc... if there's a chance he can see ( or better yet, inTERACT WITH ) animals, he's on his way— hE'S ZOOMIN!!!!
TWO THINGS YOUR CHARACTER REGRETS :
in his supernatural/SoL verses: he had a very close childhood-friend named Nihat that moved to LA to be in the band: tai half-convinced him to move to LA, but honestly, not really; nihat really wanted to come anyway, he was just waiting for the formal invitation. sadly, nihat ended up becoming deeply entrenched in the vices of the LA music scene and that trouble... ultimately led him to the end of his life ... tai deeply regrets ever inviting nihat to La. the guilt has haunted him ever since. there's a lot more i want to write on that topic but i would accidentally write a novel so i gotta stop there ajsajjj
he regrets not doing more for his mom when she was alive. he was only eight when she passed away, and realistically, ooc, we all know there really wasn't anything he could do for her that could have helped her with her mental health struggles; and even if there was, that wasn't his responsibility to take on; he was a child and should not have had to care for her or worry about her health-- it is the other way around ... but he's never been able to accept that. he has always carried the guilt and regret that he couldn't do more, and couldn't save her... couldn't give her a reason to live, or be enough for her to want to.
ONE PHOBIA YOUR CHARACTER HAS : most of his fears are psychological but... one physical thing that is nightmare fuel for him would be if he was locked in a claustrophobic small space alone, all on his own, for a long time, with no way to exit, and it didn't seem like someone was coming to get him...... . o _ o that would be very near the top in his list of "worst ways to die" asjjajj
#meta.#stole this off my dash a loooong time ago so feel free to steal it if you want hehe.#but today felt like a good day to do it cus#i feel like writing but my dash is rly slow for the holidays understandably !!#but if anyone wants to start something... lmK AND I'LL TOSS U A STARTER.#or you can always send a meme c:#it's been so long that i want to start with new threads rather than deep dive into my drafts-- not yettt.

Warren G feat. Nate Dogg - "Regulate" 1994 Hip Hop / G-Funk / Gangsta Rap / R&B
This was such a momentous debut single from Warren G that served as America's top rap tune during the summer of 1994, and the video was put into heavy rotation on MTV too. The song was originally released as part of the soundtrack to the film Above the Rim, which co-starred 2Pac, and that's why you see him also briefly appear in the video a few times as well.
As a smooth west coast hood tale that was based on real-life events, "Regulate" debuted at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, has now gone double-platinum in the US, and for a label that had been, up until that point, known mostly as a New York entity, became Def Jam's biggest ever single too. The song also helped Warren's debut album, Regulate... G Funk Era, go triple-platinum in the States, and it also reached #2 on the Billboard 200 album chart as well.
Warren, who not only raps on "Regulate," but produced it too, liberally samples Michael McDonald's 1982 blue-eyed yacht-soul classic, "I Keep Forgettin'," and there's a fantastic version of "Regulate" called the "Jammin' Mix" that manages to seamlessly incorporate some of McDonald's and his sister Maureen's vocals from "I Keep Forgettin'" as the chorus. I actually slightly prefer that version to the original, but you also do happen to get a little bit less of Nate Dogg's vocals with it too 😕.
And the iconic whistling portions are lifted from Bob James' 1981 song, "Sign of the Times." Warren slows that whistle down, and along with the introductory dialogue from the 1988 film Young Guns, manages to evoke a Wild West vibe, appearing to draw a parallel between his own modern day-in-the-life story about his friend Nate rescuing him from a robbery, and then them getting some girls for the night, to that of a cowboy's tale that could have taken place in the same region over a century ago.
Legendary west coast rap classic.
Check out this playlist here for more great videos.
