MASTERLIST
Shadyside, 1994.
“Hey come check out our gig this Friday, it’s gonna be a night to remember!” Luke, Alex, Reggie, and Bobby handed out T-shirts and their demo to a few classmates. Luke patted the back of some of them for encouragement.
“Sunset Curve, that’s us!” Alex pointed at himself. Then put his head down.
“Tell your friends, okay!” Reggie winked at a few girls who blushed.
“Hey, are you doing anything this Friday?” Bobby left the group and joined a group of girls who giggled at his approach.
“Guys I can’t wait for this week’s gig! I can barely even focus on class.” Luke stopped at his locker to take out an empty notebook and pencil for his next class.
“You don’t even pay attention regardless…” Alex called him out.
“Yeah well…I’m-“ Luke scratched his head trying to come up with something to say.
“-Excited.” Reggie started.
“-and can’t stop reminding everyone about Friday…” Alex gave him a pointed look.
“Okay, okay. I get it, I’ll shut up.” Luke laughed, hitting them playfully. “But come on guys, this gig could be our big break for us. Imagine all the record execs and the labels that’ll want to sign us. This could be huge!”
“Well, until then we have a math test to get to.” Alex reminded them.
“Shit that was today?” Luke began panicking. “No, no, no.”
“We have a test? I thought that wasn't until next week” Reggie’s eyes grew wide.
"Today is next week." Alex shook his head, as he took his notebook out of his bag.
“I’m screwed.” Luke's arms flopped to his sides. “My mom already got onto me for skipping classes, if I get another bad grade…” He sighed. “This is the start of a bad day boys.” He grew annoyed but then did a complete 180 when he saw you. “Did I say bad day? I meant my day just got a whole lot better now that I’ve been blessed by the sight that is Y/n Y/L/N!” Luke bit his lip as he called after you. You walked by him and the guys in the hallway. “Hey Y/n, has anyone told you today you look beautiful?” Luke leaned against his locker and nudged his chin up at you. You were on the other side of the hallway opening your locker. You rolled your eyes and turned around.
“Fuck you, Luke!” You scoffed at his attempts to get at you again.
“Well if you’re offering, then by all means lead the way-“ He walked over to you and leaned against the locker next to yours.
“Keep dreaming…” You laughed and shoved him away.
“I will.” He smiled at you and stared at you with a glint in his eyes.
It was like a staring contest, trying to see who’d break first to have the upper hand. That’s how it’s always been between you two. A contest to see who could resist the other person’s charms and flirtatious attempts. You bit your lower lip and rolled your eyes. Luke did a little victory dance in his head. He truly felt lucky that he could hold your attention. Work you up to make you smile just a little bit longer at him. Crack a stupid joke to hear your affectionous laugh. Tell you how truly beautiful you looked just to watch that little glint in your eyes appear. It made his stomach swirl of butterflies….butterflies were cool.
Not that he’d ever tell anyone that.
He let you switch out your textbooks in peace before opening his mouth to tell you about Friday.
“Hey, so I was wondering-“ He scratched the back of his head.
“Move!”
You looked up right as Deena came through and shoved the brunette out of the way. Luke looked stunned. The push had him stumble backward a bit. Gravity defied him, so he fell on his ass in front of everyone in the hallway. He got up trying to play it cool. Yet you could see a snip of his pride melt away. You bit back a laugh as your eyes flicker between Deena switching out a notebook from her locker next to yours and Luke scowling at her.
“Hey, Deena.” You smiled at her.
She stopped what she was doing and gave you her attention.
“Hey.” She stuttered. Luke had been forgotten about for a second. “Ready for the test today?”
“I can’t decide if I want to hurl or faint. Mr. Delancey always adds a bonus question to throw us off, and I don’t know if I can remember the circumference of a circle.” You joked.
“I’m sure you’re gonna do great…did my notes help?” Deena bit her lip.
“They did actually-“ You swung your bag around to the front of you and pulled out her notebook.
“Thanks again for letting me borrow them.”
“It was no problem…anything to help.” You met her eyes as she slowly took the notebook back.
Once Luke was at your side again you turned to face him and slapped the side of his shoulder playfully. “You okay there?” Luke could hear the pitch in your tone switch. You were picking on him.
“What? That? It was nothing…” He shrugged it off. “Deena and I joke around like that all the time.” He laughed, then proceeded to hit her shoulder with his own. “Right, Deena?” Deena fell into the lockers with a slight thud. You winced. She looked about ready to kill him. You laughed nervously. Luke and Deena stared each other down. You wanted the tension between them to dissolve so you opted to drop your notebooks on the ground. The two turned away from each other and peered to the floor then you pretended to have clumsily dropped your stuff. Luke immediately bent down to retrieve your notebook while Deena collected the few pens that rolled away.
The two stood to their feet handing you your belongings.
“T-Thanks.” Your hands brushed against Deenas first. Then you turned towards Luke, his fingertips purposely curling under your palm, letting his touch linger. “T-Thanks.” God, you swore your heart was pounding in your ears. How did anyone handle a crush let alone two?
You could almost hear a pin drop before they broke the silence.
“You coming to the concert this Friday-”
“You going to the game on Friday-”
Oh boi.
You straightened up as the two turned their heads at each other confused.
“Yeah!” You blurted out without a second thought.
“Yeah, you’ll be at the concert?” Luke pointed at himself.
“-Or yeah you’ll be at the football game?” Deena pointed to herself.
You froze, your eyes growing. You swallowed down your anxiety slowly building up. You were about to open your mouth but got saved by the bell.
“Thank god…” You sighed in relief only to realize they heard you say it out loud. You opened your eyes to see them waiting for your answer. “I-uh. Math!” You pointed past them and sped off like your life depended on it. “Oh my god what is wrong with you?” You muttered under your breath to yourself.
Luke watched you walk away with furrowed brows before turning over to Deena who was closing her locker shut.
“Since when did you fancy, Y/L/N?” He eyed her up and down crossing his arms over his chest.
“Since she kissed me underneath the bleachers behind the football field.” She smirked watching his ego dying.
“No way. Seriously?”
“No! Don’t you have a math test to fail?” She shoved past him, walking off to the class you all shared for the third period.
“Deena wait.” He held her arm, making her halt.
“What?” She sighed, waiting for him to continue.
He saw right through the wall she was putting up. He knew about her first girlfriend Sam, though things didn’t seem to work out. Yet he guessed Deena moved on considering she had been trying to gain your attention for weeks now, just as he was trying his hardest. She looked back down towards the door you entered.
“Holy shit! You’re serious. You like her.”
“No, I just wanna use her for notes. No shit, Sherlock. She’s amazing, can you blame a girl?” Deena shrugged.
“That’s gonna be a problem for me?”
“Oh yeah?”
“Yeah…cause I like her too.”
She found him trying to be intimidating, amusing. “Do you want a gold star or something?” She crossed her arms.
“No, but I want to ask her out.”
“So do I.”
“Rock, paper, scissors?” He suggested.
“How about…” She paused and reached into her flannel. She brought her hand out and directed her middle finger at him. The huge smile on her face made Luke roll his eyes. “How about this though, we just play it daily until Friday to see who she’s interested in. She’ll either show up to the concert or the game and then we’ll see who she likes. No bitching, no complaining.”
“Okay, okay, I can work with that.” He nodded, even though he wasn’t sure about it.
“You sure?”
“Yeah…for sure.” He nodded.
“Okay, burnout. See ya in math.” She smirked at him. She shoved a slip of paper into his chest and walked off to class. Luke brought his hand up to his chest to catch the slip of paper. He turned it over and chuckled. He looked up in time to see Deena at the other end of the hall. It was a cheat sheet. “Thanks!” She only responded by throwing a thumbs up in the air. He heard the final warning bell go off, as he picked up his book bag. He hurried up and entered the class as Mr. Delancey was just about to shut the door. He gave the man a small smile before taking his usual spot behind you towards the back. He smiled as he watched you go over your notes. Your foot tapped lightly against the ground. He knew how stressed you got when it came to the test. He almost felt bad for pulling you out of your thoughts, but he gently tapped his finger against your left shoulder. Without even turning around, you automatically rested a pencil on your shoulder for him to grab. He bit his lip to prevent a smile from breaking out.
“Thank you, beautiful.” He whispered. You hummed in response, then got back to going over your notes before Mr. Delancey told everyone to put their things away.

"Girls like girls"
Deena Johnson x fem reader
You moved to Shadyside a few months ago, you've heard about about this town being a shithole, and some sort of witch called Sarah Fier possessing people turning them to killers which sounds stupid in Y/n's opinion.
Her Dad died when she was 13, and it shattered y/n's heart. Her mom became a alcoholic, so y/n had to support herself.
Y/n's mother had moved to Shadyside for a fresh start, Y/n thought moving to Shadyside would be the worst idea, but she actually met three amazing people who changed her life.
Y/n met Kate through cheerleading ever since you got on the team. she was your first best friend, but one secret Kate told you was that she sells drugs with her other best friend Simon so they could leave Shadyside one day.
Y/n was totally supportive of that, and she also met Simon, Simon, and y/n's friendship was very flirty they would often flirt and mess around with each other. Y/n had a crush on Simon at first but he had eyes for another girl at school so she knew it would never work, but she still loved Simon as a bestie, He cheered y/n up when she was sad and he was the life of the party.
But the one person that stood out to Y/n was Deena Johnson, She seen Deena in band, Y/n thought she was the most beautiful girl she'd ever seen, her freckles and curly hair. Kate introduced you to Deena. Y/n was very nervous, and she felt like she was going to melt.
You thought you weren't going to be close to Deena but in the end you and Deena were very close, you guys talk about Shadyside, you both hang out alot after-school, you both listen to The pixies.
Y/n wanted to make a move to ask Deena out and tell her that she liked her, but Deena started dating Sam. Deena was very happy, and y/n loved seeing her happy, but she doesn't feel happy that she's with someone else.
Deena and Sam had been dating for six months until they broke up since Sam moved to sunnyvale.
Y/n was there for Deena when Deena needed a shoulder to cry on. She was there for Deena and and her little ''Fuck Sam" phase. You know how much Deena was angry at Sam but you knew she still loved her and would never get over her, Deena even quit band because of her.
But she got back into the band since Sunnyvale was hosting a candlelight vigil for the victims, so players, cheerleaders, and band had to go.
God, you hated those stuck-up Sunnyvale pricks
You made it inside the bus, seeing people amped up, and all up in your face, which you were very annoyed with, so you saw Deena and sat next to her.
"Hey." Y/n said to Deena.
"Hey." Deena responded.
"I don't wanna fucking do this." Deena said.
" Trust me, me too, I'd rater be at home listening to music, not going to Prissyvale." Y/n said, rolling her eyes.
" I don't want to go there but I have to because I have to give this to someone that I used to- it doesn't fucking matter anyway." Deena said mentioning to the box on her lap, which contains pictures and stuff with her and Sam. Y/n wished she was with Deena before Sam did.
It was silent on the bus ride. y/n looked out the window seeing Sunnyvale.
As the bus driver stopped in front of Sunnyvale High School, everyone got out of the school bus and made it to the football field.
Kate walked up to Y/n. " I know you like Deena." Kate said to Y/n straight forwardly.
" What? Is it really that obvious?" Y/n said to Kate questionly.
" Duh, I saw the way you looked at her when you first met her. You look like it was love at first sight." Kate said, smiling at Y/n.
"Well, it's not love at first sight since she's stuck up on Sam." Y/n said.
" Don't worry, you'll find someone, and if you don't, you always have me." Kate said jokingly.
" Shut up." Y/n said as she blushed at the short girl.
Y/n stands next to Deena, Y/n saw Deena looking for someone in the crowd to see Sam with this guy wrapping his arms around her.
Deena looked heartbroken she wanted to be sucked up in a black dark hole and disappear.
Deena left the football field, which made Y/n feel bad for her.
Y/n followed after Deena saw her sitting down in the corner of a wall.
" What's wrong?" Y/n said as she saw her crying.
"Oh, you know Shadyside being a shithole, seeing someone you use to know with someone else." Deena said sarcastically as she laughs, wiping away her tears.
Y/n comes over to Deena sitting right next to.
" I can't believe that she can just pretend like we weren't together and put up this bullshit facade ever since she moved to Sunnyvale, it was like she was ashamed to even say we were together, like I didn't matter to her, I was gonna give her this box of memories we had together but all I want to do is set it on fire." Deena said, feeling anger rise up.
"Maybe you need to let her go." Y/n said to Deena.
Deena gets up, scoffing as she rolls her eyes as she gets up, looking at y/n.
" Do you think it's that easy, she had a impact of my life, and you just expect me to let it go, God that was really fucked up to say Y/n." Deena said angrily
" I'm just saying she made you felt like shit ever sine you guys broke up, you literally quit band because of her, she literally has a impact of your life that you need to let go of, can't you fucking see." Y/n said, defending herself.
" Why did you want me to let go of her?" Deena said, questioning Y/n.
" I don't want to talk about it." Y/n said as her heart beats rapidly as she wants to admit that she likes deena.
"No, tell me, I mean you have so much blunt honesty to tell me to hurt my feelings, so please tell me Y/n." Deena said, targeting Y/n.
" Because I fucking like you!!! Is that what you want me to say? I wanted to tell you I fucking like you for months, but you were to stuck up on sam, that I felt like I was gonna loose you, I know how much you miss her but I just can't stand you talk about her." Y/n confessed as tears come out of her eyes.
Deena didn't say something as she looked at Y/n in her eyes.
" Deena, please say something... you know what? I'm gonna go and leave you alo-" Y/n was cut off as Deena kisses Y/n passionately cupping her face softly.
Y/n kisses Deena back as she waited for this moment to happen ever since she met Deena.
" I'm so fucking sorry, Y/n I was so stuck up on Sam that I didn't realize how much it affected you, I really liked you when I first met but I was so blinded by Sam and how much I wanted to be with her, I really liked you too but I was too scared to admit it and was so stuck on sam." Denna confesses as she looks at Y/n teary eyes.
" When we're done with this, can we eat cheeseburgers and listen to The Pixies and sing our hearts out." Y/n smiles, laughing with tears in her eyes as Deena laughs with her.
"I would love that, and your right I need to move on from Sam and focus on the good side of my life which is you, and I'm sorry for my attitude, that was very bitchy of me." Deena apologized.
" It's OK I've heard worse." Y/n said smiling at Deena.
Deena kissed Y/n again as she rested her forehead on Y/n's
"Y/n L/n, will you be my girlfriend." Deena asked.
" Of course." Y/n said pecking Deena on the lips.
Deena walked hand in hand as they make it back to the football field.

𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐨...easily get persuaded or pressured into doing something, especially if it was something you'd absolutely not do if it were up to you. But when it came to Deena Johnson, you'd throw all those inhibitions out the window and carry the world for her if you had to. And that was precisely why you were standing in front of the woods on Fear Street right now.
Earlier...
...Deena had not taken her breakup with Sam lightly, that much was clear to you and your friends. After Sam had left for Sunnyvale, Deena was adamant about building up her walls again and letting no one in. She became snarky and quiet, and there was always a sour frown present on her face. It pained you to see your friend like that. And while Kate and Simon tried their best to cheer her up, their attempts usually did the opposite. Deena wasn't in the mood to have two matchmakers trying to get her to move on with another girl, and she developed a low tolerance for some of their childish antics. No, she needed to be understood, to be given the space to move on in her own time, to grieve the loss of Sam and to come to terms that life would be okay again. Someday. And so you started to do your best to bring out the old Deena Johnson, the one you missed so much— from buying cassettes of The Pixies, renting movies and bringing her takeout to letting her copy your homework when she'd been busy getting her life back together. The first time you knocked on her door, she'd given you a distant, forlorn look, but it surprised you that she let you in after seeing the bag with burgers and VHS in your hands. She walked you out later that night, the ghost of a smile on her face as she realised she felt a little better. It had become your thing— Fridays after school were now reserved to spend time together, and sooner but later, Deena caught herself having forgotten about Sam altogether. But why, she couldn't quite tell. You, however, had started to feel weird lately. And while you had been aloof to it all in the beginning, or at least tried to brush it off, you realised there could be no other explanation—the sweaty hands you'd get when around her, and the weird tingling in your stomach, could only mean that you liked her. Liked-liked her. Of course, you would. Deena Johnson was as cool as she was beautiful. Her dark curls seemed as soft as her lips, and the twinkle in her eye whenever she smirked or laughed or said something she knew was witty, blinded you and made your heart beat faster. She carried herself so laid-back, as if she couldn't give a damn about the world, but you knew that she was capable of giving so much love and care that it would suffocate a person.
It was a good thing she didn't know though, for it coloured your cheeks in embarrassment even thinking about it. You'd rather not make her run for the hills and end your friendship. For months, it had been your not-so-little secret. It had kept you up at night, occupied your mind in class, and even caused you to go all sappy and put a corny poem or doodle in at least every notebook or stray piece of paper you owned. The amount of hearts you had drawn around her name was getting ridiculous, and you hated how you had turned into one of those lovestruck teenagers you had always made fun of. But now, you understood. But each time you felt your heart speed up, the feeling of guilt and embarrassment washed over you almost simultaneously. Guilt because you were meant to help her feel better, not be a replacement for Sam. If she ever found out, what would she think? Would she suspect you had only reached out to her with an ulterior motive now that she was vulnerable? To get with her in the process? Because that was far from the case. And embarrassment, because all crushes and secret loves were awkward and something you'd rather shove under the carpet, afraid of rejection and making yourself look like a fool. Deena Johnson had gotten her heart broken, and here you were, falling for her. For your friend, for someone who had just mended her heart.
But while you thought you had done a stellar job at hiding your infatuation with the girl, your not-so-secret crush was painfully obvious to Kate and Simon, who realised the origin of the change in your behaviour right away. However, operation Get-Them-Together couldn't start off unless they were utterly sure that Deena was ready for something new, and that she was even into you at all.
"Hey, you." Kate straightened her back when Deena threw the tray with cafeteria food onto their table and sat down, "Dare to try the zombie's brain?"
Deena sighed and poked at the miscoloured porridge, or at least she thought it was. Then her eyes drifted to the chicken nuggets, which looked like they had been chewed on already and then spit out.
"I don't even know why I still get some." Deena huffed playfully and shoved the tray away, "Do you only sell pills or do you also have a secret business with cheap snacks?"
"'Fraid berries is all we have to offer."
Deena sank down into her seat, resting her chin on her hand as she watched the students chat and eat, "Then I'm already looking extra forward to burgers and fries tonight."
Kate leaned in, a smirk on her face, "Ah, is Y/N still doing that?"
"Yup, she's the best," Deena stated matter of factly, slightly distracted by the realisation that you weren't in the cafeteria.
"Looking for her?"
Deena hummed, "-and Simon, where's he?"
"Bathroom. Second breaks are usually peak hours for us." Almost as soon as she was done speaking, she started to wiggle her eyebrows, "-so, honest answers only- do you like Y/N?"
Deena's eyes immediately shot towards Kate, and she realised where this was going as soon as she saw the smirk on Kate's face. Slightly thrown off guard by the sudden question and the shock that came with the answer she had already given in her head, but not yet spoken aloud.
"Is this another one of your attempts to get me to move on because I've figured it out on my own already." Although, not really on her own, she thought.
Kate lifted her head, surprised but happy with the answer, "No more Sulking-About-Sam hours?"
"Nope. Ancient history."
"Great- so, you like her, right?"
Deena squinted her eyes and pursed her lips as she looked at Kate, trying to decipher what her friend would do with the answer. But then again, there was absolutely no shame in admitting to like someone, let alone someone so kind and fun as you. She sighed, laughed a breathy chuckle and shook her head in amusement.
"Deena and Y/N, sitting in a tree-"
"Alright, no- none of that!" She threw a pea at Kate's face, whose smirk widened as soon as she saw you approach their table. Deena hunched closer, turned her voice down and whisper-yelled, "Not a word, Schmidt!"
Kate shrugged innocently before sliding out a chair for you, but you immediately waved her off, "I can't stay, I have some stuff I want to copy. I just wanted to give you this."
Deena accepted the bundle of papers and flipped through them.
"Those are the notes from chemistry and history you missed. Oh, and here's some maths homework you can copy. I know you don't like doing those."
"Oh, thanks, but you really didn't have to," Deena smiled softly at the kind gesture and watched you hurry away, a nervous jump evident in your step.
"Well?" Kate broke the silence, "Don't wait any longer. Make the damn move! Girly has been waiting for you to do so because she thinks you don't see her that way."
"She told you that?"
"No, but I'm usually right with that kind of stuff. She hates math with a passion but here she is making homework for you. And don't forget that I knew Sam liked you before she was even out."
"Should I also remind you how that one ended?" Deena turned sour almost immediately at the mention of her ex-girlfriend, and her good mood from before was gone in an instant.
Kate noticed and hated how she had to bring it up, "Look, just trust me on this one, okay?"
Deena hummed absentmindedly, already staring off into the distance again and playing with the food on her tray. If you really liked her, then why had you started to act so strange and distant lately? Kate's reasoning made no sense. Although Deena wasn't scared to put herself out there, she also wasn't too keen on getting her heart broken again after she had barely recovered from the first time. No, she needed to do some digging before decisions and actions could be made.
So she did during the following weeks. To see how you would react, she'd find your gaze and would stare just a tad bit longer than you could bear, would smirk whenever your eyes met, or wink. Her innocent touches amped up a notch as you were often surprised with an arm slung over your shoulder. It was clear to everyone that it got a reaction out of you, that you tensed up, blushed or grew nervous. But Deena wasn't quite sure if these were the signs of someone who was getting attention from her crush, or from someone who was uncomfortable and just too nice to say so. But when she asked Kate if what she was doing would ruin her friendship, Kate answered-
"Your friendship will be past tense anyway." Kate joked, but saw this did nothing to calm Deena down, and rolled her eyes, "Look, I'll ask her."
"Yeah, no- I appreciate the help but I'd rather not make her feel pressured or cornered. I-I...I'll figure it out."
But Kate was itching to help out and decided to play some detective. Like a hawk, she had her eyes on the two of you, no matter if it was at school or at one of your houses. Before you could even think of looking Deena's way, she had already caught you in the act. It was no different when she spotted you eyeing the girl as soon as Deena walked out of the locker room that day.
"See something you like?" Kate's voice made your head shoot up, and you realised by the look on her face, that she knew you weren't admiring her new leather jacket.
Not wanting to put you on the spot any further, she added, "Ah, yes, I've been eyeing that jacket of hers too, it's literally the best." Grateful that she didn't tease you, you smiled at her, knowing Kate could have taken this another turn.
Kate saw the relieved look on your face, and the blush on your cheeks, giving her all the confirmation she needed to set up a plan with Simon to get you two together.
☾ ⋆*·゚:⋆*·゚:⠀ *⋆.*:·゚ .: ⋆*·゚: .⋆
Kate had paged you just after nine, telling you to come over to her house now that her parents were away. Usually, you would've jumped onto your bike right after hanging up the phone, and you would've been there already. But this time, you were stressing out. It wasn't a rare occurrence for you to hang out with your friends. But lately, you had been capable of making an absolute fool of yourself each and every time Deena was around. Not so keen on going down that road again this time, you sat on your bed, your leg jittery. It did nothing to shake the nerves out of your system, so instead, you stood up and took a deep breath.
A huff left your mouth as you caught your reflection in your mirror. It was almost as if it mocked you— look at you, getting nervous about a girl. Pathetic. You turned away from it and rummaged through the pile of clothes on your chair, grabbed a few jackets and tried them out in front of the mirror. What kind of look were you going for? Something edgy? Something chill and laid back, or something classy? What jacket screamed I've-put-alot-of-effort-into-my-outfit-for-a-girl, the least? With your eyes closed, you picked one off the ground, smiling slightly as you held your jean jacket in your hands. The patches you had sown felt very you, and so did the jacket. You picked well. You'd look great. Things would be fine. Breathe. Deena would be there. But almost immediately, your stomach fluttered. Great.
After taking another deep breath, you ran downstairs to get on your bike.
☾ ⋆*·゚:⋆*·゚:⠀ *⋆.*:·゚ .: ⋆*·゚: .⋆
Autumn in Shadyside was always unusually chilly, and tonight was no different as you stood in front of the door you had just knocked on, busy warming yourself by rubbing your hands together.
Simon peered through the window before he appeared in front of you, his goofy grin on full display, "You brought snacks? Tell me you brought snacks. They only have tiny carrots and a bag of opened and old peanuts." He made a face of disgust, one that immediately changed to a wide smile when he caught the can of Planters cheeseballs and box of Cosmic Brownies you pushed against his chest.
"Sick!" He nodded approvingly and followed as you stepped inside.
"They're in the basement." He spoke, bringing a hand of cheeseballs towards his mouth.
"Save some for the others, yeah?" You playfully shook your head.
He shrugged innocently, following you downstairs.
The wooden steps creaked and groaned as you descended, and your legs wobbled when you heard her laugh. You stopped, realising you didn't want her to see you with cheeks as red as your pair of Chuck Taylor's. If you could stall some time...
The creaking stopped, signalling Simon had come to a stop behind you.
"What's wrong?"
"Did you lock the door?"
"Uh, yeah, I did."
"Are you sure? Maybe we should check?"
Simon chuckled, trying to downplay his mocking, "Don't you worry. Any Shadyside scum will have to go through me before they get to you girls."
You rolled your eyes playfully, "How chivalrous, but you know that we're Shadyside scum, right?"
He waved you off and gave your shoulder a slight push, signalling you to walk down, "You know what I mean."
You fumbled with the slightly-too-long sleeves of your jacket, a nervous habit, one you resorted to a lot whenever Deena was around. Smoothly dodging the junk stored on the few lower steps and moving your head around the cobwebs, you eventually stood in the basement. It was colder than upstairs, they clearly didn't have central heating downstairs, and the cold wind breezed through the cracks around the tiny windows. Your eyes wandered around the basement, which was mostly used for storage going by the Christmas decorations tossed into a corner and the plethora of cardboard boxes. But in the back of the basement stood an old sofa with a pattern that was no doubt straight out of the seventies. It looked like it had seen better days. A purple, mismatched coffee table was filled with bottles of soda. Your eyes wandered over to the girl sitting on a pillow on the ground, her dark curls fell over her shoulder as she pushed her hair back. Almost immediately, you forgot about the cold and felt yourself warm up again.
"Ah, won't you look at that? She's arrived. At last." Kate smirked.
Deena turned around, nodded at you in acknowledgement and smiled. She wore a black denim overall with a tie-dye jumper beneath. God, how could she look so effortlessly cool and beautiful? She leaned against the table, and you felt yourself bite your lip to mask how you were really feeling.
"Well? What took you so long?" Kate pressed.
"Uh," You panicked, but only for a split second as you found the perfect lie, "Had to get some snacks, of course."
"Ah! Whadda ya bring?"
Simon threw the box of Cosmic Brownies in Deena's lap, "They look like only kindergartners should eat them but gah, they're the best." She ripped the packaging open and threw Simon and Kate one, then she turned to you, "Here— sit."
But before she let you, she slapped the pillow a couple of times, making years of dust fly off it.
You laughed, "What a health hazard this basement is, why not sit in the den like we always do?"
"Because..." Kate started, "Now that I've got all of you here..." She smirked a smirk that could only mean she was up to no good, "Seeing as it's almost Halloween, I thought it would be a great idea to get up to some spooky games."
"Kate, I've already told you— I'm not doing the ouija board."
"Yeah, no, me either. Josh actually convinced me to stay away from that one."
Kate's shoulders slumped and she fell back against the sofa, "Boohoo."
Simon sat down next to her, the can of cheese balls still tightly clutched against his chest, "I'll play!"
"No, you'd scare the ghosts away with your weird questions."
"I'm also pretty sure calling them ghosts, will anger them."
"Since when did you two become such good girls? Something eating away at your conscience?"
Deena shrugged, "Just not feeling like adding harassed by ghosts to my list of problems."
"Right, because that would obviously be the worst one of them all." Kate and Deena exchanged a look, one that left Deena with furrowed eyebrows and her lips pursed in irritation.
Kate just shrugged and a whispered oops left her mouth.
"Right, so, truth or dare then? Easily the next best thing." Simon put his feet up onto the table, but Deena pushed them off.
"There's nothing spooky about truth or dare." Kate sighed, making it clear how she felt about his suggestion.
"So? We make it spooky." Simon put his feet back up on the table. This time, Deena faced away, turning to you.
"How old are we? Twelve?" She complained.
"Don't be a party pooper." Kate rose her eyebrows teasingly, "Are you scared of certain secrets coming out?" She tantalised.
Deena bit the inside of her cheeks and furrowed her brows, knowing Kate had her where she wanted, "Fine. But nothing disgusting or I'm out."
Kate clapped her hands and sat up, grabbing an empty bottle of Coca-Cola before she gave it a whirl. It landed on Simon.
"Simon, truth or dare?"
"Dare!"
"I dare you to let me do your makeup."
"How is that a spooky dare? I don't mind that at all, bring it on. Make me look even prettier."
Deena looked at you and suppressed a smile at his reaction. Kate patted the spot beside her and whipped out a tiny pouch from her bag. Mascara, rouge, an eyeliner pencil and lipstick were now sprawled about the coffee table.
"Pucker up, pretty boy. I'll make you give Winona Ryder a run for her money."
Deena snorted, shook her head and snuck a glance at you. She noticed how tensed you seemed, despite the lighthearted conversation, "Hey, you good?" She mumbled under her breath.
"Yeah, don't worry about it."
She raised her chin and looked you up and down to try and decipher what was wrong. She could tell you were lying. You always had this tell when you did, you'd play with your hair or avoid her eyes, which you had done often lately. She complied with your request to drop it, but she wouldn't stop worrying, for she simply couldn't. You had made her suspicious of your behaviour for weeks now. Something was up, and although Deena was usually unfiltered and didn't mince words, she couldn't this time. Not with you. This was different. Somehow she felt like she needed to handle it differently, with more tact, handle it with a delicate touch instead of ripping off a bandaid and come out and say it how she saw it.
"Okay, cool... um-" It surprised her how she was at a loss for words. Even if it had only been momentarily, the slip-up hadn't gone unnoticed, "-well, um, thanks. For the snacks." She smiled wryly and held up her brownie, not noticing the side-eyes Simon and Kate were giving her.
"Oh... it's nothing. We had them lying around." You replied flustered, feeling your cheeks already starting to heat up by how long Deena was looking at you.
"I thought you said you had to go and get them?" Kate noted.
And there it was— your cheeks turned a bright red in a matter of a second, and you started to stammer and stumble over half-spoken words, "Well, I um- yes, but then-"
Kate stopped you, not being able to watch you torture yourself in front of your crush, "It's fine, I was playing with you."
Deena glared at Kate, who smiled in return, putting the last touches on Simon's makeup, "And... all done. Show them!"
"How do I look?" Simon puckered his lips and turned his head over his shoulder, using his hands to vogue. He quickly grabbed Kate's cheek, who spluttered, and he left a dark red lipstick mark behind.
"Wow," Deena laughed, "Such a beauty. Love the blush on your cheeks. It's quite...prominent."
"Now we're twinsies!" Simon joked with you, but you didn't laugh. At least not a genuine one.
"Drop it, guys." Deena gave them a stern look before she sighed and gave the bottle a good spin, but Kate kept smirking. Deena muttered, “Or I’ll make you call Brian to ask if you can play Wizards and Dungeons with him.”
Kate immediately slumped in her seat and sighed, “Fine.”
The bottle slowly came to a stop and landed on Deena herself, who puffed out her cheeks, but before she could pick dare, Simon had already piped up, “You always pick dare. Pick truth for once.”
“What happened to truth or dare? Don’t I get to decide?!”
“Afraid what we’ll ask you if you pick truth?” Kate winked, and Deena immediately realised what she was hinting at. Then again, she didn't want to give Kate this win, and so she refused to back down.
“Okay, fine, bring it. Truth it is.”
“Give your heartfelt thoughts about each person in this room.”
Deena made a face of disgust and scowled, “Really?!”
“Is that too soft for you?” Kate teased and raised an eyebrow. She hid her cocky look behind an innocent smile.
Deena tried to look indifferent and mumbled out what she liked about Simon and Kate with clear boredom in her tone, but with the ghost of a smile on her face. Then she turned to you, and she fell silent. You looked at her, growing uneasy and flustered at the suddenness of Deena’s attention on you.
The girl inhaled sharply, getting ready to speak from the heart, “Well, you’re pretty awesome. And um— you’re a lovely friend. I like our Friday afternoons and well, how you always have my back and so-” Her words didn't come out nearly as easily as when she had done Kate and Simon, and it was clear that she knew that herself, going by the slight blush on her cheeks. She cleared her throat, realising she needed to say a bit more, but just enough to not ruin anything between you. “In all honesty, you mean the fucking world to me.” She ended up saying. She could’ve speeched with underlying and hidden meanings, but that had never been her forte. And so, she watched as your face turned red. You realised what she was saying, and although she had been blunt, you still caught the true hidden message behind her words as you gazed into her eyes.
Deena rubbed her hands together awkwardly, “Right, so… please never make me do that again.”
Kate and Simon gave each other a look, one that screamed that the first step to their plan had just been accomplished, and the rest had clearly been set in motion.
Though Deena had already forced herself to move on from her embarrassing moment, you still replayed her words in your head, realising you’d yet to say a word and had only been staring at her ever since she'd turned to you.
“That was… very sweet. Thanks.” The corners of your mouth turned into an adorable smile, and Deena’s body relaxed as she started to beam from ear to ear. At least she hadn’t scared you away.
Kate and Simon shared yet another secret look, and their fists bumped together underneath the table.
“Your turn.” Simon enthused after spinning the bottle and it landed on you, bursting your bubble.
Deena noticed the worried look on your face, and her hand landed atop yours, “You don't have to do it if you don't want to. It's just a stupid game, after all."
“No, come on, this is fun! We should come up with a dare if you reject your dare or truth. You know, as a punishment for not doing the dare or the truth."
Deena muttered, “That sentence gave me a headache."
You realised that whatever you were going to pick, either truth or dare, couldn't be any good, going by the mischief on their faces. Kate hauntingly whispered, suddenly holding a flashlight underneath her chin, “Let’s spook things up now— so, Y/N, what will it be? Truth… or dare?”
Simon made scary noises and wiggled his fingers. “I’d pick truth too if I were you.” He said.
“What happened to the whole concept of the game? It’s truth or dare, dimwit.” Deena playfully shook her head.
But Simon ignored her and started chanting truth, quickly getting slapped against the chest by Kate.
“You’re gonna wake up the neighbourhood with your wailing, shush!”
You turned to Deena, unsure of what to pick and wanting to find solace in her eyes. After seeing the reassuring, calming expression on her face you relaxed and opened your mouth, “Dare.” You smiled, “But nothing too embarrassing or sexual.”
“But that takes away all the fun!”
Kate didn't sit and sulk like Simon, and instead tapped her chin, pretending she had to think about a dare when in reality, she already had one prepared, “I dare you to… spend seven minutes in heaven in the woods behind Fear Street-” Kate held her finger up, stopping anyone from interrupting her, “-together with Deena.”
Kate and Simon looked at the both of you, expectantly, and with huge grins on their faces, like two happy kids.
You looked at Deena, catching her eye when you protested, “More like seven minutes in hell!” You widened your eyes, immediately realising how this must’ve sounded.
“I’m sorry?” Deena feigned offence, but her eyes said otherwise.
“No, no, no- that’s not what I meant. It’s not you, it’s just-” You turned back to Kate and Simon, “Are you two insane?!”
Simon only shrugged and put his fingers together, so as to say, just a little.
“People go missing there, or worse— get fucking killed! Remember Evan?!” With wide eyes, you brought up one of your classmates from school.
“That doesn’t count, he accidentally shot himself.”
Deena crossed her arms, coming to your aid, “We all know he didn't, this is Shadyside, remember?”
Kate visibly grew annoyed, “Yeah, you like to remind us each and every opportunity you get.” She turned from Deena back to you, “If you’re scared you should just say so. Because that’s it, isn’t it?”
Deena puckered her lips in annoyance, frowned and lifted her head, eyeing Kate, “Let it go, Kate.”
“I’m not scared,” You muttered, ashamed. Because you were. Not for the reason you had to walk deep into the Fear Street woods, but because you would be with Deena.
“Then what’s the problem? Live a little!” Kate smiled, clearly not aware of what she was doing.
Deena glanced your way momentarily, searching for a sign that showed you were uncomfortable or scared. The last thing you would want to do is let Deena down, show her you were a scaredy cat who was afraid of the dark or the woods at night, or reject the dare and make Deena feel rejected for not wanting to go there with her.
You found yourself nodding, and soon the words rolled off your lips, “There’s no problem.”
Kate’s face broke into a shit-eating grin, “Great! What are we waiting for then?
Mere minutes later, the four of you hopped into Deena’s car, who was behind the wheel. Simon happily sat beside her, having earned the spot after yelling out shotgun as soon as she had jingled her car keys. You didn't have to lock eyes to know Deena was sneaking looks at you through the rearview mirror every now and then. And even though the eye contact made your heart beat faster, you never failed to reciprocate her stare. Although, you were always the one to break first, not wanting to be too flustered before your whole dare had even started.
You drew a smiley on the damp window, and mumbled out as soon as Deena turned into Fear Street, “I can’t believe I let you guys persuade me into doing this,”
As she drove further into the street, you felt the air get stuffy, even if it was freezing cold. The late autumn sky was dark and turned even foggier the farther you drove. Deena cursed under her breath and went to sit on the edge of her seat to get a better view of the road. She drummed a random rhythm on the steering wheel, trying to play down her nerves.
The night seemed to grow darker the moment they passed the houses. For some reason, this part of the street had never had any functioning streetlights and even the rundown houses had no lights on inside to show someone was home.
You started to shrink and shudder as you looked out the window, only seeing darkness. It frightened you as you suddenly remembered all the bad shit that had happened near this part of town. You were no stranger to all the stories of mysterious sightings, disappearances and murders in Shadyside, particularly on Fear Street and in its woods. Even if they were usually used to spook kids and help them behave, you started to get uncomfortable now that you were actually here. Sure, the stories probably got changed plenty of times through the rumours in the school’s hallways, but still, you already hated having agreed to this. You had never been a fierce believer in each story, but you had also never sought out danger and risks. Besides, you usually made it a conscious choice to avoid Fear Street as much as you could. But there you were, breaking that one little promise you had made to yourself, breaking it for Deena Johnson. Which made it all the more nerve-wracking.
What would happen in the woods? Would you be out there all alone? Would you stumble upon something? What would happen with Deena? Between the two of you? Surely she’d think the two of you were just going as friends on a fun dare. There was no way she was seriously thinking this was going to be an actual seven minutes in heaven. All kinds of questions started to circulate through your head, making your palms start to sweat and your leg jitter.
Deena pulled up to the side of the road as she parked in the dirt on the outskirts of the Fear Street woods, “This is so stupid,” She sighed and turned off her car, leaving the four of you in complete darkness and silence. It was eerie.
“So what now?” You crossed your arms, trying to seem tough and unimpressed, but Kate had seen your leg bounce mere moments ago.
“Well, if you two are too scared, we can turn around and get some milkshakes instead.”
Neither you or Deena liked the way Kate’s sentence made you feel like a coward, and both of you immediately replied,
“Hell no.”
“No way, let’s go.”
You surprised yourself by unbuckling and getting out of the car. And once the door closed with a bang that travelled and echoed through the tall trees, you hoped the other three would step out soon after you. You hugged your torso, growing cold, even under your padded jean jacket.
“So… what? You guys will just stay here?” You looked at Simon as he rolled down the window, staying seated in the car.
“Yup, someone’s gotta keep track of the time and watch the car.” He smiled giddily and handed Deena a flashlight as the girl stepped out of the car.
“So prepared,” She noted, somewhat sarcastically.
“Don’t keep your girl waiting!” Kate shoo’d her, getting a glare in return at the use of the nickname.
Deena begrudgingly snatched the flashlight out of Simon’s hands and closed the car door harder than she had meant to, immediately realising so when she saw you flinch. Your angry pout turned to one of worry and regret.
“Sorry- I didn’t-,” She gestured towards the car and walked around it, towards you.
Deena took a second to realise how awfully quiet it was— there was no wind, no sound of animals, no one driving or walking by. It seemed that not even the rustling of the trees made a sound. Only her breathing and the crunching of the leaves beneath her feet were hearable as she turned around, “Shall we?” Deena smiled reassuringly towards you, making the flashlight flicker a couple of times to make sure it worked.
As you descended into the forest, Simon and Kate- who had kept seated in the car, yelled out of the window— “See ya in seven minutes, love birds!”
“Ooh la la!”
Deena heard their voices echo through the woods and saw the light they shone upon you two from within the car— apparently they had another flashlight. Without turning around, she flipped them off. You quietly followed beside her as Deena randomly walked forward, not knowing where to go or when to stop either. Your hands were buried in the pockets of your jacket as you hugged it tightly around your torso, the cold sending chills up your spine.
Deena spoke up, not wanting there to fall an awkward silence, “So, quite the dare, huh?” She momentarily turned to you before lighting the ground again so as to not fall over something.
“Sorry for getting you involved,” You spoke and stopped when Deena did the same.
“Hey, Kate did, not you. It’s fine.” She started walking again, then continued, “Besides, I wouldn’t want you to have to do this alone. I’m glad I’m with you.”
You smiled and blushed at hearing the soft tone Deena used, “I’m glad you’re here with me too.” You replied sincerely, and newfound confidence scratched the surface now that you knew Deena wouldn't be able to see your blush in the darkness.
Deena threw you a half smirk over her shoulder, her signature one that made you fall in love with her so much, “You know-” She stepped over a fallen log, stopped, and helped you step over it, “-I’m sorry if they made you uncomfortable, I could tell your head wasn’t totally in the game.” She started, “They don’t know when to stop at times or when they’re being ridiculous. It’s just some stupid middle school game, so we can just go and sit somewhere, and wait it out.” She tried to reassure you but noticed you were deep in thought.
She was unaware that you were contemplating if this was the perfect moment to come clean. You were already scared anyway, so what could go wrong if you just ripped the bandaid off and took a dive into the deep? Deena nudged you out of your thoughts, and you were met with that same half-smirk, “Or… we could play a prank on them.”
You answered by copying her grin. Even if you were still somewhat distracted by the thoughts swarming your mind, you let out a small breathy laugh and nodded, “We should.” You let a pause fall, the crunching of the leaves beneath your feet the only sound, “But um, actually, Deena-” You started when you finally felt you had mustered up enough confidence. Although your voice was shaky and your hands were trembling, you managed to grab her hand and guide the two of you to sit down on a rock nearby.
“Everything alright?” Deena grew worried and squeezed your hand, not knowing this sweet gesture was making it more difficult for you to push through.
“I uh… I-… I think Kate was onto something when she thought up this dare.”
Deena squeezed her eyes, tilted her head and grinned playfully, as to say— you don’t say? She let you continue nonetheless.
“I believe she, um- well, maybe she could, like, sense that… well, that... I kinda lowkey, have, like, a really big crush on… you.” You started to play with your sleeve again and insecurely searched Deena’s face for a reaction.
Deena’s lips pursed together in thought as she took a moment to put it all together in her head— from her own feelings, her worries, doubts, and suspicions, to this confession. She puffed her cheeks like a blowfish before blowing the air out, releasing the breath and stress she was holding. A breathy chuckle escaped her, out of relief and self mockery for never believing Kate when the girl had said you were into her. Even after all the signs had been right there, after all.
“Wow! Okay… I am... a fool!” She smiled at you, but you only seemed confused now. You felt extremely vulnerable as she took her time to come up with an answer, “-Because I’ve been seriously into you for a while now and always thought I would be better off keeping those feelings to myself.”
Your eyes widened in shock at her revelation, and you heard yourself start to stammer incoherent words. Deena grounded you by squeezing your hand again.
You mumbled, flabbergasted, “What? You’re not fucking with me?!”
“Nope, although that’s probably what Simon and Kate hope we’re up to right now.”
You playfully pushed Deena, who almost slid off the rock as she laughed. She had to hold onto you for support. The flashlight rolled off her lap and landed with a soft thud on the dirt below. It flickered- once, twice- before turning off.
“Shit,” Deena mumbled under her breath now that you were engulfed in complete darkness. She quickly felt around the ground and grabbed hold of it, opening the battery compartment by touch and adjusting the batteries inside. She gave the flashlight a good rattle, and it eventually snapped back on as soon as she slapped it against the rock, “There we go-”
She grabbed your hand again, entwining your fingers together, “-as I was saying— I like you too, genuinely, but although I wouldn’t mind spending seven minutes in heaven with you someday, I think it’s better we wait and figure out how things will go from here on.”
“Yeah, I like that idea. This is all very new, I don’t want to rush into things. Let’s figure it out together, step by step?”
Deena grabbed your other hand too, “Sounds perfect to me.” Her fingers trapped a lock of hair behind your ear, as you grew flustered and shy, and suddenly things clicked even more for Deena. She recognised this flustered look, as she’s seen it a dozen times before, but now, put in a different light, she realised what had been going on with you all along. You broke her chain of thought,
“Do you think the seven minutes are up? Because as much as I’d like to spend more time with you, this place is giving me the creeps.”
“We’d know if it was over,” Deena laughed and nodded to where you both came from, “Only darkness, I’d say we have a few minutes still left.”
You grew confused, “I’m pretty sure we came from that way, though?”
“Wait, what? Really?”
“Yeah, but now I’m confused, we passed a fallen tree and-”
Deena quickly lit your surroundings and came to find out that there was a group of fallen trees all around you, all of the same height and all looking somewhat similar, “Well, crap..wait, what the hell?” She mumbled to herself as she felt a drop of warm liquid roll onto her upper lip. She touched it, her fingers now crimson and sticky.
“Deena, your nose!” You saw the crimson in the fading light of the flashlight.
“I’m fine, it doesn’t hurt.” Her voice was now a few octaves higher, now that she was holding her nose shut to prevent more blood from dripping down her nose.
“Let’s try to find our way out of here.”
But before you could go and try to figure out which way to pick, you could hear Simon and Kate beep the car, most definitely waking everyone who lived nearby. You followed the flickering car lights, through the thick forest fog that was starting to cloud your vision, as Kate and Simon had woken up the forest by making all the ruckus.
“Was that seven minutes?” You wondered when you neared Kate and Simon.
Kate shook her head, “Hardly, but some creepy man scared us with his dog and told us to scurry.”
Deena replied, somewhat pissed off, the blood underneath her nose now smudged away with the back of her hand, “Oh, so you have no problem sending us into a haunted forest, but when a dude scares you, we gotta move?”
Kate shrugged and inspected her nails, disinterested, “He gave me the heebie-jeebies.”
When Deena and you stepped more into the light, the crimson beneath Deena’s nose became hard to miss.
“What the hell happened to you?” Simon smirked, “What a makeout sesh that must’ve been, huh?”
Kate joined, “Did Y/N bite your nose instead of your lip? Couldn’t see in the dark?”
They snickered together.
“Har-har.” Deena playfully rolled her eyes, but squeezed your hand that she hadn't let go of since you had first grabbed it, “Let’s go before I bleed to death.”
You shrugged, a ghost of a smirk on your face, “I think it makes you look hard.”
Deena looked at you, her lips pursed and eyebrows raised in a challenge. Simon and Kate didn't miss your joined hands as you two got back into the car, and they high-fived each other once you were out of sight— mission accomplished.
As Deena revved away, you failed to miss the outlines of multiple people watching through the trees, watching the car disappear.

Cozy Night In
Deena Johnson x Plus Size Reader
Warning(s): Mention of eating?
Word Count: 795
Summary: Deena and reader have a cozy Valentine night in
You knocked on Deena's door, your uncovered face getting hit by the bitterly cold wind, your teeth practically chattering from the cold.
The door swung open revealing Deena, her face beaming seeing you.
"Y/n!" Deena said, smiling.
You set your valentine's gift for Deena on the inside of the house and threw your arms around her, attaching yourself to her to steal her warmth and excitement to see her.
"You're freezing!" She said, reaching her hand behind you and closing the door, and wrapping her arm around you.
"Y-yea-ah-h I don't want to go out again. Too cold. Can we stay in and watch some romance and horror movies instead?"
"Of course, my love!" She said, pulling back from you to put her hands on your cheeks and kiss your forehead then lips bringing even more warmth to you.
You both pulled apart smiling.
"Here come and sit on the couch and warm up while I get the stuff ready!" She said, pulling away from the hug, and bringing you to the couch, you sat on it, and Deena threw a fluffy blanket on you for extra warmth. Deena walked to the kitchen to get the stuff.
~
Soon Deena came back to the living room with her hands full, two mugs of hot chocolate, and a mini carry-out box with cheeseburgers and fries.
"I kinda had a feeling you would wanna stay in tonight, so I picked us some burgers on the way from school." She said setting the stuff on the coffee table.
"Ahh, you're an amazing girlfriend!"
"I am, aren't I?" She said jokingly, smirking.
"But seriously you are too!" She said, smiling.
"And I also got this!" Grabbing a heart-shaped box of chocolate, and a box with memories written on it from the side table beside the couch.
"Aww! Wait, let me get your gift!" You said, jumping up from the couch.
Running to the side of the front door where your gift for her was, you grabbed it and rushed back to your seat.
"Here you go!" You said, handing her the gift bag she opened it seeing a mixtape, a puzzle of Scooby and the mystery gang.
"Aww I love it, you're the best girlfriend! Thank you so much!" She said, setting her gift bag on the table and hugged you.
"You're welcome, love!" You said smiling, hugging her back.
"Here's your gift!" She said, as you both pulled apart from the hug, and grabbed your gift handing you the gift.
"You got me chocolate? I love you forever!" You said smiling, then opened the box in it was a mixtape, photo booth photos of you both on one of your guys' first dates, vhs of the first movie they watched together Anne Of Green Gables.
You gasped in endearment, setting the gifts on the table, and threw your arms around Deena squeezing her tight.
"You're SOO amazing! I LOVE it! Thank you SOO much!" You said, smiling so big your mouth hurt.
"You're welcome, lovely!" She said, smiling, hugging you back.
"I love you, Deena!" You said, kissing her, your lips met hers, they were soft as rose petals.
"I love you, Y/N!" She said as you both pulled apart from the kiss.
"So what movie do you wanna watch?" Deena asked.
"The Crow!" You said, in excitement.
"Ah yes, a tragic romance!" She said, smiling.
"And gorgeous men!" You said, smiling.
"Yeah, I agree even as a lesbian!" She said, pecking you on the lips then got up from the couch and put the VHS in.
~
An hour had passed, and you both finished eating dinner, now in the middle of the movie.
You both were snuggled up, Deena's arm around your shoulder, your head resting on her with your arm wrapped around her waist, watching the movie.
You reached your arm to the table, grabbing the chocolates, opened them, and looked at all of the flavors.
"Why do they insist on putting so many strange flavors and not enough chocolate truffles, they all should all be chocolate truffles!" You said, frustration.
"Literally why! I do not know!" Deena said.
~
The movie had ended, and now you guys were listening to the mixtapes you both made for each other.
Deena stared at you in lovingness, you were like a painting of an angel painted in gold, she smiled, fully and utterly in love with you. You met her gaze, smiling back.
"What?" You asked, smiling.
"I love you SOO much gorgeous!" She said.
"I love you SOO MUCH too beautiful!" You said, smiling, feeling like soft gentle little butterflies were fluttering in your stomach.
"Happy Valentine's day, my beautiful love!" Deena said, smiling.
"Happy Valentine's day, my beautiful love!" You said, smiling.
An amazing night inside.

I'll Love You Forever
Sarah Fier x fem!reader In which Y/N will always know Sarah loves her TW: angst, mention of hanging and burning,(set in 1666)
3rd person pov:
Sarah and Y/N were madly in love with each other. But...Y/N's mother hated Sarah for some unknown reason. Well actually- there was one reason. Apparently, Sarah was a terrible influence on her, which was terribly stupid.
Sarah Fier made Y/N L/N an extremely happy person. She always made her laugh and cry happy tears...made her life 10 times better than it already was. Every time Y/N met up with Abigail, Constance, Lizzie, or Isaac after being with Sarah, she was in an amazing mood. Nothing could change it.
Their friends loved this though. They loved seeing Y/N's smiles when she was with Sarah. Sarah was also happy with Y/N. She smiled more, laughed more...it was amazing. Even if Y/N's mother didn't support their friendship (also a secret relationship but she doesn't know ;) ) their friends supported it, and Sarah's father supported it...
And no matter what happened, Sarah promised Y/N that she'd love her no matter what. Even if one of them was hanged or burned for it...even if one of them were to be hanged or burned, Sarah always told Y/N she would sacrifice herself which Y/N was always upset about but no matter what they said or did, Sarah always turned her down and insisted.
So the day Srah Fier was hanged in front of the love of her life, Y/N's heart broke but she knew, she knew Sarah would love her no matter what. No matter if she's dead...Y/N will always be with her- and that was a promise she made before she died...

Hi, first of all, I loved your Heather x reader headcanons SO much!!!!!!
Thank you for writing it!!!
Can I ask for a part 2?
Like an AU where Heather survives to the mall massacre, and her and the reader ends up being part of Sam and Deena group to stop the killers?
That would heal me!!!!!!
OF COURSE!! I've always though Heather would've made a great final girl with Deena and Sam since so many of the other important side characters get killed off-
I hope you enjoy!
Survival
The shock she would be in after not only having Ryan try and kill her but wash him die above her-
I'd say she takes plenty of time off from school and work but, Shadyside doesn't have that much empathy, so she only gets a day off.
I don't think they mention if she's in marching band or any sports but pulling a page from Robin's book let's just say she is.
Would sneak you onto the bus with her when they're all heading to the Memorial thing. That's probably where she interacts with Deena, Simon, and Kate.
You'd be arguing with them about "The Witch". Your girlfriend was attacked by one of her friends AND had to watch him die, the reality of this shitty town isn't because of some scary story for kids.
She'd probably blow up at them if they kept talking.
"SHUT UP....You didn't know him, no one that keeps talking about it did! He was just a weird guy into video games and horror he wouldn't just try and kill people for something stupid like 'serial killer fame'...."
After the memorial and the car accident you two wouldn't seen anyone from the group till the next night or so.
Skull Face/Ryan showing up out her windows after he goes to Deena's would be the reason you're out walking to her house.
Her house is near the one Kate is babysitting at so when you see the group plus a Sunnyvale girl running in the street away from something they just kind of run with you into her house.
You and her are still pissed when Josh keeps bringing up "The Witch" and her supposed lore.
"So we're just supposed to believe a mad ghost from the witch trials hates everyone living in them town?" "Well I mean is it easier to believe ghosts or dead people coming back to life?"
She's read and seen enough horror content to know that going to the high school is a horrible idea.
She and you are waiting at the store when everything goes down.
Skull Face was after you and Heather. Pulling you away from her about to cut you open, only for Kate to ram into him letting you and Heather get away.
After watching the killers disappear after Sam momentarily died it's just fear and sadness left.
Heather and you join Deena and the others from that night in doing a small personal memorial for them that same night.
You two spend the rest of the night into early morning attached at the hip in Heather's room.
Having to see Ryan again after what happened, and watching Simon and Kate get brutally murdered was something that would probably never leave the minds of you two. Especially when Kate died saving you.
Heather was even more jumpy than the night at the mall, she'd hold in a scream when the phone started ringing non-stop.
You two head downstairs to answer hand in hand.
"Watkins residence..... what do you want?"
"C. Burman is still alive.... And...And something is wrong with Sam..."
Heather starts tearing up hearing Deena through the phone next to you.
"It's not over..."
AHHHH-I hope you guys like this!! I was originally going to post a Scream request I'm working on but it is taking a little longer than expected so I wanted to post this for tonight since I did say I'd post tonight- So to whoever requested Scream I'm sorry for the delay!!

drivers license - deena johnson
main masterlist
sour masterlist
a/n: this is a fic that’s going to have a specified gender because deena is in fact a lesbian. i’m sorry for this you guys because you guys seem to really enjoy traitor, thank you so much for over 300 notes btw but this is really bad. i love you guys.
summary: you and deena were hopelessly in love.. until sam came in the picture.
warnings: angst, bad writing, mentions of sexuality discomfort, heartbreak
pairings: fem!reader x deena , present!sam x deena, past!reader x deena
i got my drivers license last week,
just like we always talked about.
cause you were so excited for me,
to finally drive up to your house.
Y/n Y/l/n always has been an anxious, nervous mess. Deena Johnson was confident and brave; Deena was her security blanket and that’s why the two worked. It’s also why getting into Y/n’s car everyday almost had her having a panic attack, Deena helped her get over her constant fear of driving and helped her learned how to do it. Something so little meant something so big to Y/n, especially now that Deena was gone.
And with someone new.
but today I drove through the suburbs,
crying cause you weren’t around.
and you’re probably with that blonde girl,
who always made me doubt.
Being that Y/n was the closest house to the line that separated Shadytown and Sunnyvale she had to peek into Sunnyvale everyday. The only problem with that was that she would also end up seeing Deena’s car sitting outside of one house everyday. Deena’s car was filled with loving memories of the two girls and it brought tears to her ears when she thought of her making new ones with that blonde chick, Sam.
Y/n always sensed something between Sam and Deena, but always shut it down brushing it off as insecurity. But when Deena up and left her for Sam she could only ever have a bitter sensation in her mouth.
Maybe that’s why when Sam moved and Deena was heartbroken, she felt nothing but joy. Deena finally knew what it felt like to lose the one you love.
she’s so much older than me,
she’s everything i’m insecure about.
yeah, today i drive through the suburbs,
cause how could i ever love someone else.
sam was perfect, there was no denying that. she was pretty and she had it all even before she moved to sunnyvale. watching the love of her life slowly start looking more in love with sam than she was with her hurt y/n with a feeling that she would never be able to forget.
so whenever y/n drives to her house and sees deena’s car in front of sam’s house she cries. she thinks to herself, ‘how could she move on so fast if she loved me so much?’ deep down no matter how much pretending y/n did;
she knew she would never ever love someone the way she loved deena johnson.
and i know we weren’t perfect,
but i’ve never felt this for no one.
and i just can’t imagine how you could be so okay,
now that i’m gone.
It was obvious that Y/n and Deena had their hardships, every relationship did. The biggest one had to be over the fact that their relationship consisted of two girls, it never really bothered either of them; they knew they weren’t perfect cause they weren’t straight but it didn’t matter because they loved each other.
Thinking about the tears that the two had shared for each other, with each other over their sexualities was devastating for Y/n. Each girl had made each other feel comfortable being who they truly were.
She knows it’s wrong to think it, but how could Deena possibly be ok without her when she helped make her love who she was.
guess you didn’t mean what you
wrote in that song about me.
cause you said forever,
now i drive alone past your street.
“It’s you and me forever, Y/n.” Was something Deena would always say when Y/n had one of her anxious moments. Those word always brought comfort to her. But now as Y/n is parked in Deena and Y/n’s spot that was a huge rock covered in red moss, she read the note Deena had left her. The note had words that mended her heart and broke it at the same time. Deena couldn’t have possibly meant a single word in the breakup letter.
Especially with the last sentence being, “It was you and me forever, Y/n.”

Imagine:
Pretending to be with Deena
Request: Yes or No
Deena and Sam are lesbians (Sam stated she didn't feel like herself when she was with Peter aka a dude) so any x readers with them will be with a fem reader unless it's a platonic relationship.
~
You pulled the cigarette away from your lips, tugging at your skirt. Becoming a cheerleader wasn't your idea, rather a plead from your mother. You exhaled the smoke, turning your head to look at Deena as she walked towards you. You noticed the tears in her eyes, frowning. You and Deena weren't close but you had mutual friends with her.
"What's wrong, cupcake?" You asked, head tilting. Deena looked up with widened eyes, sniffling and wiping away her tears.
"N-Nothing." She replied. You rolled your eyes, shaking your head. You flicked the cigarette away, approaching the girl.
"Pretty girls don't cry for no reason." You said, looking at the shoe box she had in her hands. Deena followed your gaze and sighed. She licked her lips, seeming to think it over before she decided to tell you.
"My.. I saw my ex, Sam. She moved to Sunnyvale and let some douche be all over her. I thought.. I hoped that maybe what we had was real but... I guess not." Deena explained, leaning against the wall. She let the tears fall, quiet sniffles leaving her.
"Exes are the worst." You mumbled, gently touching her hair and wrapping a curl around your finger.
"We have different ways of coping after a break up, don't we? Some people drink, others do drugs, others party.. Anything to forget about the heartbreak. This douche might be her coping mechanism. You shouldn't let one girl bring your whole life down. There are plenty of pretty girls on our side and I happen to know some who like girls too."
"How do you know them?"
"Cause as a community, we stick together. Not everyone is okay with it so we gotta stick up for each other." You replied, wiping away her tears and cupping her face.
"W-Wait, so.. You're also a.." Deena trailed off, staring at you. You nodded, giving a small smile.
"Deena?" You and Deena turned your heads, looking at the blonde. Deena blinked and straightened up, clearing her throat. You took note of it.
"Ah, so, you must be Sam. The ex girlfriend." You grinned, watching Sam cross her arms and nod.
"Yeah, I.. I.. How have you been, Deena?" Sam asked. Deena swallowed, licking her lips as her gaze dropped. You wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her close.
"She's been fine. We were talking about our next date." You smiled, looking at her. Deena sent you a bewildered look. She noticed the way you quirked your brow, quickly understanding.
"Yeah.. Sam, this is (Y/N). She's my... girlfriend." Deena gave a small smile, beginning to gain confidence. Sam wasn't over Deena. The way she eyed you and frowned showed it.
"That's awesome.. I'm.." Sam took in a deep breath, nodding. "I'm happy for you."
"Thanks. It seems like you got over us pretty quickly. You seemed pretty happy being groped and touched up in public." Deena said, dropping the box on the floor. She kicked it, watching it slide over to Sam. Sam frowned at Deena's words, crouching down and opening the box.
"Is this my stuff?"
"Yeah." Deena nodded, arms crossing.
"We should get going, right?" Deena looked at you, a glee in her eyes from getting back at her ex. You chuckled, cupping her face and kissing her. You pulled back, sending her a wink.
"You can stay behind and chat, if you want. I'll be with the others. See you later, cupcake."
Gifs aren't mine.

Reaction to you asking them out/them asking you out
fearstreet characters x reader
requested: no
this is an apology post because I haven't been responding to requests😭
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━♡
Deena Johnson
chances are she probably likes you back. she's kinda taken back by it cause she hid her feelings, and was in denial. but she was happy to yes to it.
Sam Fraser
she was the one who asked you out. she was super excited when you said and couldn't stop smiling about it. "wait are you being for real?"
Josh Johnson
he took awhile to comprehend it. so ended leaving you there not responding to your question. later that day he came up to you and apologized for running away. he was really happy to say yes.
Kate Schmidt
she asked you out, it was really blunt but you could tell she really meant it. one day she kinda just walked up to you asked you out. you had known each other for awhile and you couldn't deny your feelings. and of course you said yes to which she was happy about
Simon Kalivoda
he was kinda cliche with it, he left a note in your locker to meet you somewhere. it was that he wanted to admit it somewhere private. super happy and giddy when you said yes to him.
Ziggy Berman
probably does it at a random time but shy about it. you were helping her out with a scratch that she had got from Shelia. while you were finishing she just asked. "do you wanna go out with me?" you kinda just stood there. but you said yes.
Cindy Berman
you were helping her with some kids. she was really nervous to ask, fidgeting with her hands a lot. when she asked you she said it in a really quiet voice. she was really happy when you told her yes.
Alice
you guys had an affair going on prior to your the ask. so you already new each other pretty well. when you asked her out she was a bit hesitant but did say to it.
