I loved everything about this book, the friendship, the romance and the style of writing tied them up nicely. Also, apparently there’s going to be a TV series coming soon in the future so yes I’m 110% confident I’ll be crying with a bag of chips at the end too ;’) Seriously though, do yourself a favor and read this! 2. I loved her humor throughout the book. She came off a little strong at first and it did seem like she was annoying but there’s a reason why she’s so sarcastic and cynical and I loved that the book wasn’t all 100% about the romance (although that is one of the best parts of it). I binged this within two days and I was fairly satisfied at the end and I can’t not recommend this enough for those who want to read a happy queer romance book! ALSO I LOVE THE COVER SO MUCH 3. The Weight of the Stars by K. Ancrum Link to book: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/36952571-the-weight-of-the-stars

I loved this one a lot even thought it’s mostly a character-driven type of book. This is sort of an enemies-to-lovers type of book, though it went fairly quickly from enemies to friends. This book feels like something you should read slowly, just to savor it all and process everything on the pages.  4. Her Name in The Sky by Kelly Quindlen Link to book: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/20886492-her-name-in-the-sky

I did find this one slightly harder to read because I usually stray away from books like these but I think it’s good to pick something up like this from time to time. Don’t be scared away though because this has a good and happy ending to it. 5. Synopsis: A showrunner and her assistant give the world something to talk about when they accidentally fuel a ridiculous rumor in this debut romance. This was a fun and cute read about the romance between Jo, who is a Chinese Hollywood star and her assistant, Emma. I read this in a book slump and I loved it, its sort of a fake-dating trope like book and I’ve never read something like this outside of fanfiction so it was an enjoyable experience all the way! Also, when the author described Jo at one of the red carpets with her dress with pockets, my mind automatically imagined Gemma Chan from Crazy Rich Asians as her.

Blackened progressive metal band Vintersea unveils an epic cinematic music video for their track ‘Crack Of Light’ taken from their 2019 album Illuminated. The band and their friends built a 20-foot boat specifically for this video, and the boat itself took four people to load it into a flatbed trailer for the band’s journey to location shooting in the Alvord Desert in rural Oregon. Additional shooting was done in a secluded cave with a natural sunlight shaft that only shows two hours of sunlight per day, and a set that was built by the band to resemble “The Void” from the Netflix series Stranger Things, including a 40×40-foot pool for the boat to float in for one segment of the video. “While we want every video to be special, the pandemic gave us more time to work on the music video for ‘Crack of Light’”, says bassist and videographer Karl Whinnery. “I had big dreams for ‘Crack of Light’ – the song has an oceanic vibe but everyone knows filming in the ocean is horrible. [TRANS] Stray Kids, Special Album Title Track Is 'Side Effect'..Participate in Lyrics·Composition of All Tracks

Group Stray Kids are coming back with their new album title track ‘Side Effect’. In this album as well, they are gathering attention for their participation in the lyrics and composition of all tracks besides the title.

JYP Entertainment made known the news of the release of Stray Kids’s new album ‘Clé 2 : Yellow Wood’ on the coming 19th and are gathering expectations.

Continuing, at 12AM of the 6th JYP released two versions of the ‘Clé 2 : Yellow Wood’ tracklist through Stray Kids’s official SNS and gave information on the album’s title track and side tracks.

Adhering to this, besides the title track ‘Side Effect’ on Track #2, there is Track 1 ‘Road Not Taken’ amd Track 3 ‘Thoughts’ for a total of 3 new songs. In addition the 4 previously CD-Only tracks will be included for a total of 7 tracks.

On the revealed tracklist image it says, “I’ve never seen and heard of this place. But I’m sure I won’t regret no matter what this place is. Because we’ve chosen this road and we’ll walk together", "Even if the road is unknown, we will make it ‘our path’. I am confident in making sure that no one regrets this decision” etc., containing various messages in both Korean and English, conversing with global STAY and raising curiosities about the new title track’s concept. Before this, on this past 5th, a trailer video was released, grabbing one’s attention with its contents that seemed to tell a story.

Title track ‘Side Effect’ contains the message about the side effects of bravely choosing a path. With a Psychedelic Trance genre, it’s a track where one can feel Stray Kids’s energy. Following their previously released title tracks ‘District 9’, 2nd mini title track ‘My Pace’, 3rd mini title track ‘I am YOU’, and 4th mini title track ‘MIROH’, this time as well Stray Kids’s internal producing team ‘3RACHA’’s Bang Chan, Changbin, and HAN took part in the lyrics and composition, proving their continuous path of musical growth.

After debut, Stray Kids swept Rookie Awards at various award shows, achieving the title of ‘Rookie Award 9-Crown King’.

In addition, this past May 14th and 15th from Newark to LA on the 17th, and Houston on the 19th, they held their solo U.S showcase over a total of 4 concerts and sold out all of them. Among these, tickets for the Newark concert sold out quickly after ticketing opened leading to the addition of one extra concert date.

Overall Company

To celebrate their new building and the success that has let up to being able to move into it, the company is throwing a party for all employees on March 24. Attendance is listed as non-mandatory, but, for idols, management will be strongly insisting they attend in order to show respect and thankfulness for the work of all of the other employees. It will be hard to get out of without a good reason, but there will be free food and drinks, though it’s a company party, so nothing will be permitted to get too out of hand.

After a filming for online video series What The?! ASMR, where she’ll be asked to bring three items of her own choice to do ASMR with, the month is pretty low intensity, as she may be growing used to in the time since her last comeback. Her team is constantly reviewing potential songs, but haven’t locked one in as a comeback title track yet. She will be given the news that Dimensions will be having all three of their soloists participate in busking next month to help promote the new soloist, though, so she’s permitted to choose and practice up to six songs of her choice, though this must include her most recent title track as well as at least one other title track of her choice and at least one vocal or dance cover of her choice. She’s allowed to perform a song with one or both of the other soloists if she’d like.

To celebrate his second debut anniversary, he’ll be throwing a fan meeting at Yonsei University as a follow-up to his fan meeting in Bangkok last month. His official lightstick will be released on the first of the month is celebration of his approaching anniversary as well. As far as comeback prep goes, he’s expected to rehearse for his live performances since he’ll be playing acoustic guitar for both the title track and b-side “White” stages. Next month, she’ll participate in busking with the company’s other two soloists to help promote her debut. She’ll mostly be performing her album songs, but she’ll be permitted one vocal cover of her choice to practice this month and perform next month if she so wishes.

March 18-20: “I” MV filming in Auckland, New Zealand

Music show promotions end mid-month without much eventfulness, which is actually a good thing considering Gal.actic’s track record. Next month, the group will be holding a fan meeting in Guangzhou, China, which will be shortly followed by a mini concert in Seoul in May, so they’ll be in rehearsals for that this month. They’ll mostly be performing their most recent title tracks and their most popular ones, but each member will be granted a solo stage to perform one song of their choice. This can be a cover or a solo song they’ve released.

Alien

As promised, March is the final month of touring before they get a break from large scale concerts for a while. They’re in the States for two weeks out of the month before they return to Seoul and they’ll be going back next month. Fans have been demanding a break, but Dimensions has too much in the plans for Alien to grant them one, and, instead, while on tour, the members will record another new English song, “Love U”. Once they return to Seoul, it will be time to record the songs they haven’t yet recorded for their next Japanese album.

The members will also go in to try out potential outfits for promotions ahead of filming their music video next month.

7ROPHY

7ROPHY were promised to begin working on another comeback this month and management weren’t lying. From the beginning of the month, they’ll have a concept meeting for their comeback and then begin recording the chosen songs for the track list. They’ll be making their comeback in May, but their fifth anniversary since debut is this month. Four days before their anniversary, they’ll be in Taipei, Taiwan to hold their first solo fan meeting for Taiwanese fans. The set list will be pretty standard with their top title tracks and most recent b-sides. For their anniversary, each member will be asked to film a video with a message to fans.

March 15: 7ROPHY 1st Fanmeeting in Taipei at ATT SHowbox in Taipei, Taiwan.

Unity

The beginning of the month is the busiest for Unity members. They have yet another magazine photo shoot and then will be flying out on March 8 to the US to perform in Texas, before returning to Seoul on the 11th. From the 12th to the 18th, all members will be granted a vacation by Dimensions unless they have solo schedules to attend during that time. After returning from vacation, the members will have rehearsals in preparation for their Japanese tour dates next month.

Fans are sure to notice that the same group of idols that was seen at the BC building is now taking the same flight out of the airport, but BC and Dimensions continue to not confirm anything to keep fans talking.

Compared to their jam-packed schedule over the last few months, March is more relaxed even though it’s the last month before their comeback month. Their album has been recorded so the focus is on choreography this month, as well as fittings and photo shoots for both the teaser photos and the album photo book. The concept of one of the versions of the album will be photos taken by the members of the other members, so each member will be provided a camera to take teaser photos with while shooting that concept version.

Research: What is ‘Eight’?

 ‘Eight’ is a play comprised of eight monologues (nine in the published version), that was written by Ella Hickson for Edinburgh Fringe in 2008. Taken from a review of the play’s debut performance by The Scotsman, “Hickson based her work on a survey of British twentysomethings which asked them what qualities or experiences define their generation” (2008). In the original performance, the audience were asked to choose four monologues after hearing a brief character description and only these four were performed, leaving the audience wondering what the ones that were not chosen would have led to.

Ella Hickson wrote Eight to enter a competition run by her University while in her third year. While the initial reason for making the characters so isolated was because she “didn't know how to do dialogue"(Hickson, 2011), it resonated with me, as a continued metaphor for the play itself, all the characters are part of one generation, but are somehow alone. Her decision to let the audience choose which four monologues they saw was because she “wanted them to take responsibility for their choices"(2011).

My group chose ‘Eight’ as the play we were going to produce, and I assumed the role of the director. With such a minimalistic stimulus, ours was always to be an adaptation of the original. The key themes that we identified were Relationships, Acceptance, and Conformity – all of which belong under the umbrella of Trauma due to Social Pressures e.g. maintaining a ‘good’ and ‘socially acceptable’ relationship, job, lifestyle etc.

I found myself drawn to using the work of Frantic Assembly as inspiration for my approach to the piece. Things I Know to be True holds a narrative and a plot with moments of contemporary movements that reflect the story being told such as the ‘Family Hug’ (Frantic Assembly, 2016) sequence. As for set, I was intrigued by the use of a grid in the National Theatre’s performance of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, as shown in the trailer for the show (London Theatre Bookings, 2015). Having already considered the themes we wanted to focus on, I could clearly link using a grid to my piece.
