Group E, Round 1, Poll 5:
Propaganda under the cut
Reika Shindai
She manipulated the swordsmen of the guild to turn on another swordsman using their past traumas and fears. Would steal and lie without a second thought. Ultimate girlboss imho.
The embodiment of gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss.
Jason "J.D." Dean
Jason Dean embodies all the components of being a girlboss- he gaslights with a passion and he gatekeeps to no end. His romance with Veronica showcases his completely insane and obsessive nature. He gaslights her on the daily, and accuses her of being the one who wanted all of their murders to take place. When they break up, he goes to her house to attempt to gatekeep her from living, only to be disappointed by the fact that she tricked him into believing that she beat him to it. This does an excellent job of demonstrating just how much of a gatekeeper he is- he cant fathom anyone Veronica even implies disliking, to the slightest extent, being an individual who deserves to live. His murders are a very girlboss move, in my humble opinion. Those who dont like him and are enemies of Veronica are targets- take Heather Chandler, their first victim, as an example. Veronica and her had a complex relationship- specifically one in which they were best frenemies. However, he chooses to gatekeep Veronica and her friendship with Chandler by killing her, and gaslights her by convincing her that she wanted her dead. He deserves to be girlboss number one (or at the very least an honorary girlboss) because he gatekeeps, gaslights, and girlbosses for the entirety of the movie. In summary Gatekeep- kills people to gatekeep Veronica as a person Gaslight- lies to and manipulates Veronica Girlboss- kills people for funsies

Flexo (2003) by Ted Larson and Bob Allen, CA, USA. Flexo is an early forerunner of the AMPbot.
"It was finally time to make a smaller, improved version of Bender that could do more things. One thing I learned from all my work was that bigger balancing robots are usually easier—since they move slower, the control system doesn’t need to be as exacting in making minor corrections. But making a really tiny balancing robot becomes harder and harder the smaller you go. In the TV show Futurama, Bender has a brother named Flexo. So it made sense to name the new robot after him.
Since I now had a PID algorithm good enough to do things like balance a robot with an offset load on top of it and drive up and down ramps, I could easily mount a moving, pan-tilt-camera rig to the top without any fear of the motion of the camera knocking the robot over. I used a color tracking camera tuned to track the color red, so that if you put a red object in front of the robot, it would try to move toward you. Once it got close enough, it would just stand there and stare at you. We took Flexo to the HomeBrew Robotics Club once he was working, and there was a kid there wearing a red sweatshirt the robot really took a liking to!
Bob thought we might be able to find some companies that might be interested in paying for our expertise in developing these kinds of balancing robots. We bought a booth at the first RoboNexus trade show held in San Jose in 2004. On the first day, we were standing in our booth with Flexo showing off his balancing act, and who should come down the aisle riding a Segway but Dean Kamen himself. He rode up, stopped for a moment, and said jokingly, “Wow! Look at that! I have never seen anything like that!”
On the second day, we met a bunch of enthusiastic engineers from Hasbro. They were looking for more interesting robotic toys they could add to their line, as well as some help with more advanced sensors in toy development. We were invited out to Hasbro corporate headquarters in Rhode Island to give a presentation to the engineering team about what we could do. Bob asked if we needed to prepare a formal presentation, but Hasbro told us to just show up and bring some robots. When we arrived, we were shuttled into an enormous conference room that looked like it could seat 100 people, and there were 20 people sitting in there waiting to hear the presentation that we didn’t have! We thought we’d completely blown it, but we just turned on the robots and Bob started talking. Soon, the crowd warmed up, got out of their seats, and started coming to look at the robots up close, and it all worked out after that. Bob and I started a robotics consultancy called OLogic in 2005 with Hasbro as our first customer." – Ted Larson, From HomeBrew to Hasbro How two friends hacked a balancing robot and wrote a toy story of their own.

Round 2 of 8, Group 3 of 4
propaganda and summaries are under the cut (May include spoilers)
Kamen Rider Blade: 1.01 The Indigo Warrior
cw: death, stalking, mental breakdown, flashing lights: Most of BOARD dies (not Ms. Hirose, she survives the entire show), Shirai Kotaro has researched extensively on Kenzaki Kazuma before actually meeting him in person, Hajime's mental breakdown over the words Kamen Rider, plus the usual flashing lights and quick cuts of Kamen Rider Blade
Whilst investigating the urban legends of the Undead, Kotaro Shirai stumbles upon the two Kamen Riders of BOARD.
The memeability of it all. Kenzaki (protagonist) getting kicked out from his apartment and having to move in with a milk-obsessed journalist who just inherited a run-down farmhouse from his dead uncle. The random english words in the opening music video. Ms. Hirose telling Kenzaki where the Undead are. I forgot Hajime appeared this early on but there's no way I'd mistake his trench coat and motorcycle helmet. Certified milk-drinker Shirai Kotaro getting roasted by his widowed older sister and niece. The fact that B.O.A.R.D. couldn't even survive a single episode. The stupid sirens in the background of the destroyed B.O.A.R.D. Hirose jumping to conclusions based on what she saw earlier that day. "Tachibana, why are you watching? Are you *really* a traitor?" The way Tachibana just stares at Kenzaki, half peeking out from behind that wall.
Supernatural: 15.18 Despair
With the plan in full motion, Sam, Dean, Castiel and Jack fight for the good of the common goal.
Destiel confession shook the site as we know it, genuinely think any other episode winning would be an injustice
I stopped watching this show during season 11 when I developed taste but this is the Destiel Confession Episode™️. Supernatural may not be a “good” show but fiction’s job is to make us feel things and this episode made me feel a brand new emotion that I doubt I’ll ever experience again, and that’s without even watching it.

Posting some WWE x Kamen Rider Geats AU art I haven't posted because I wanted to keep a secret and feeling like I'm embarrassing myself, so why not appreciate myself how I drew them. I felt proud how I did even though there were errors on most of them. There are times I wanna do a redraw, but for right now, I'll leave them alone.
I tried drawing Punkjack and Buffa forms. Not good, I know lol. About the Roman and Bianca drawing part, they're not a couple, they're like brother and sister figures to each other.

Okay people, here we go:
Baldy's Book Club
Episode 1: "Into the Storm"
By Taylor Anderson, Book 1 of the Destroyermen series.
Okay, so, on the recommendation of my most esteemed mutual @frogblast-the-ventcore , I have been coerced to read the Destroyermen series, and post my thoughts about them as I do.
So, for part 1, here we go. I'm going to assume those of you reading have read the book, cause if you haven't, you should be going to buy it, right now. I mean it.
First and foremost, this book was written by a ww2 nerd, for ww2 nerds, and by god does it show. Taylor Anderson is a professor of history, and it shines through in every part of the book. From the technical details of the USS Walker, to the shortcomings of the Mk. 14 torpedo, to the attitudes, lives, and habits (both good and bad) of a 1942 Asiatic fleet destroyerman. Speaking of which, call me Dean Kamen, cause that's a perfect segway to talk about
The Characters
To begin with, do not expect a normal person's assessment of these characters. Expect a Normal™ person's view of them.
First: Captain Matthew Reddy. Oh my lord this man. He's an absolute mess, knows it, and yet cannot let that show, because, well he's stranded in an alternate universe with humanoid lemurs and sapient velociraptors. In my head, he's got total divorced dad energy going on, 30-something going on 50 because of stress, greying at the temples but still hot in a DILF kind of way, not overly muscular, and with one hell of a voice. (I'll admit the audio book colored my perception, but it's a fantastic audio book so I don't care.)
Next, Chack-Sab-At, the biggest and most baddass guyfailure to ever live. "Oh, I'm a pacifist" then the very second that an enemy without moral repercussions comes along he's all "I love violence and killing and murder and death and injuring people and blood and biting and cutting and-" like, seriously, dude says he's a pacifist before turning around and becoming Furry Doomguy.
Next, Dennis Silva, he-who-was-told-not-to-fuck-the-monkey-cats-but-did-it-anyway. Moving on,
There's literally more I love about the characters than I want to sit here and type out, so I'm going to cut it short, but Oh My God these characters are A+.
Next, I just want to touch on something these books made me feel. A lot of times, as an USAmerican with an actual brain, I can get bogged down in the fucked-up shit my country has done and feel like I can't celebrate what makes the US cool without making it sound like I'm excusing all the bad stuff, but this book kinda made me stop for a minute and go "man, the US is kinda fucking rad, when you think about it." Because, you know what? It is. Yeah, we've done fucked up shit, but we've also done some pretty awesome stuff. For every My Lai Massacre, there's a moon landing. For every Trail of Tears, there's a Berlin Airlift. Sometimes, it's okay to take a moment and just go "Fuck yeah, guys. Were pretty cool." Because this book really makes you feel that, at least it did to me, but I'll get off my red, white and blue high horse and keep going.
Alright, now we come to the part that I need to get out...
THE BRITISH EAST INDIA COMPANY
Literally everywhere in my life, I am haunted and stalked by the specter of a long-dead megacorporation. In every piece of media, in every topic I research, no matter what, they're there. As the Frogman quoted from me in a meme a while back "I'm being haunted by the ghost of English imperialism". What the fuck? Anyway, if you wanna chat about the book, please do, because I am at terminal levels of Fandom.
Anyway, if you want to read along for the next Baldy's Book Club, we'll be reading Crusade, the next book in the Destroyermen series.
(P.S. Frogman, I know this review isn't very good, but my brain is soup rn so this is whatchu get.
