so apparently one of the wealthiest men of pakistan - whose first name I can't remember but his last name was dawood, you can look him up - was on the missing tube. the refugee ship is estimated to have around 300 pakistanis, 12 of whom survived. I'm not from pakistan myself and don't know much about their internal politics or economy, but the contrast between hundreds dying in the sea mostly in hopes of earning the most basic level of living while this guy hobbies himself to death is, well, startling. actually would love to hear pakistan natives' thoughts on that

seeing the kim criticism from north american pakistanis is so funny. i admit i was annoyed by it in the first episode bc the terrorist label she gave dawood seemed a bit over the top but i feel like her "american" quirks are pretty mellow for the most part and hardly take away from the main themes of the drama wrt understanding, balance of power, etc. in a landscape of dramas that are thriving on their ability to attract audience with their overdone theatrics and abuse plotlines, isn't it nice to resonate with something more down to earth that seeks to address the more subtle issues we tend to overlook? and thankfully, at least from what i see in the youtube comments weekly, not many people seem to mind her american quirks and are instead focused on those strong points of the story, particularly the bonds showcased between the various women in the family. i'm not going to say kim's portrayal is 100% perfect or anything but the people constantly complaining are being so overdramatic. there's a willful blindness element at play here too, bc plenty of the pakistani american characters in older dramas also showcased their fair share of unrealistic behaviors. it's nothing new and idk why we're trying to scrutinize it so severely now!

I will reiterate - the criticism that Kim faces from the non-Pakistan based Pakistanis is more because of how the character doesn't fit THEIR 'neat' image of a 'physically away but dil se always in Pakistan' persona that they are trying very hard to maintain. but that's not whom Kim is made to serve. her character is meant to serve the story Yunhi is telling and Kim is doing that perfectly.

YT audience is smarter than most intellectuals as it at least sees a drama for the drama it IS and not project their own prejudices and views on it. What's known so far about the search for the missing Titanic submersible

The submersible last headed for the Titanic off the coast of Newfoundland is still missing as of Tuesday morning.

The U.S. Coast Guard is leading the operation with assistance from the Canadian Coast Guard vessel Kopit Hopson 1752 and air search from the Royal Canadian Air Force Aurora aircraft out of 14 Wing Greenwood.

The passenger submersible operated by OceanGate left St. John's, N.L. on Sunday morning and then lost contact with surface crews one hour and 45 minutes into the expedition.

Time is of the essence in the search due to the 96-hour oxygen supply aboard the vessel.

Here's what we know so far about the missing submersible:

WHO IS ON BOARD?

The submersible is carrying five passengers, including Hamish Harding, a billionaire and explorer, Paul-Henry (PH) Nargeolet, a French explorer, Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman, members of one of Pakistan's prominent families and, according to Reuters, OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush.

"We started steaming from St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada yesterday and are planning to start dive operations around 4am tomorrow morning," Harding wrote on Facebook on Saturday. "The team on the sub has a couple of legendary explorers, some of which have done over 30 dives to the RMS Titanic since the 1980s including PH Nargeolet."

WHAT THE SEARCH LOOKS LIKE

Former U.S. Coast Guard captain Andrew Norris told CTV's Your Morning on Tuesday "time really is the enemy."

"The challenge is finding it… that's going to be difficult enough, but then affecting some sort of rescue," he said. "That indicates the challenge that rescuers will face to do some sort of recovery, even if they do find it."

Search and rescue teams are battling the clock as the oxygen onboard the submersible lasts about 96 hours. Norris indicated there could be emergency oxygen supplies on board as well.

"They would have the normal oxygen supply that we're talking about that is a 96-hour window, but they'd also have — like on a plane if there was a fire or something — they'd have the ability to put on some sort of oxygen breathing device," Norris said.

The U.S. Coast Guard said at a press conference Monday that sonar technology is playing a key role in the search efforts.

If the vessel is found, Norris says, the rescue would be in "very difficult circumstances."

"The Sea State has to allow the deployment of that equipment, they have to and then it has to work kind of perfectly the first time so it's really a challenge," he said.

Beth Penney, a reporter with CTV News affiliate NTV in Newfoundland, told CTV's Your Morning on Tuesday that weather conditions have not been good for search efforts.

"We learned through social media, that this was going to be the only expedition that OceanGate was going to take to the Titanic wreckage this year, and that's because of poor weather conditions in Newfoundland and Labrador," Penney said.

CANADA'S ROLE IN THE SEARCH

The area where the submersible went missing is under U.S. jurisdiction, Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, Joyce Murray, told CTV News.

"There is a unified command under the U.S. Coast Guard’s leadership that Canada is playing a very committed role in," she said. "The Canadian Coast Guard is doing everything that we can to help. We have the CCGS John Cabot (that) has sonar and it is headed to the site."

Both the U.S. and Canadian coast guards have teams looking for the submersible and the Royal Canadian Air Force has an aircraft flying above.

"Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Boston has requested assistance from Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) Halifax in the search of an overdue submarine," a spokesperson from the RCAF told CTVNews.ca in an email. "The submersible has lost communications with its surface vessel located 380NM south of St. John’s N.L."

Kathryn Hallett, a spokesperson from Fisheries and Oceans Canada told CTVNews.ca in an email, "Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) Halifax is providing assistance as required."

Murray says two other Canadian Coast Guard ships are in St. John's ready to port equipment.

When asked if any Canadian facilities came in contact with the submersible Murray initially said she would not "go into details."

"Because this is a hugely emotional issue for those who are doing this work to save the people aboard the submersible and their families, and every effort is being made," she said. "It's an international initiative at this point with assets coming from Great Britain and Germany."

However, Murray confirmed that Canadian facilities are doing "everything in their power" to assist in the search. 

WHY IT COULD HAVE LOST CONTACT

Norris says there are multiple ways for a submersible to lose contact with the surface crew.

"There could have been a catastrophic breach, which would have resulted in an implosion, it could have had some sort of fault that caused it to lose communications and or the ability to lift itself off the seabed," Norris speculated.

Other potential issues include getting caught in debris that can be found along the ocean floor and near the Titanic.

Officials have not confirmed why the submersible lost contact.

WHERE WERE THEY GOING?

OceanGate Inc. is a privately owned U.S.-based company that provides tourism explorations to the deep ocean.

The company's website says the five-person submersible, named Titan, can reach depths of up to 4,000 metres — 7.2 times as tall as the CN Tower.

The Titanic, which sank in 1912, is located about 600 kilometres southeast of Newfoundland in the North Atlantic Ocean. OceanGate expeditions to the wreck cost passengers about C$300,000.

The submersible is made of carbon fibre and titanium and is 6.7 metres long.

Allah) everything that leads to your mercy, and your tremendous forgiveness, enrichment in all good, and freedom from all sin. Do not leave a sin of mine (O. Allah), except that you forgive it, nor any concern except that you create for it an opening, nor any need in which there is your good pleasure except that you fulfill it, O. Most Merciful

The meaning of this du’a in the words of Abu Dawood is, “Whenever a matter became serious, the Prophet (SallAllahu ’alaihi wa Sallam) turned to salah.” It means that one can plead to God at any time asking for help, for Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala is the most merciful and beneficent. Among all voluntary appeals to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, there is also one important prayer, which is called Salaatul Haajat. It is observed for the purpose of completion of one’s particular Haajah (need). It is but one of the ways to pray to the Almighty for one’s rightful wish.

“He who makes wudhu, and does it properly, then prays two rak’ats, Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala will grant him whatever he may pray for, sooner or later” (Ahmad)

How to perform Salaatul-Haajat?

For performing these prayers or namaz, there is a particular format that has to be followed. Here’s a quick guide on how to pray Salaatul-Haajat.

The person performing Salaat-ul-Haajat has to start making a Wudhu. Wudhu is a cleansing ritual that is performed as an important part of purity and cleanliness in Islam.

After this two rakats are performed with an intention of Nafl Salaat.

After the salaat is completed, the reciting of prayer to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala and Durood Shareef starts. It is considered good to recite as much amount of Tasbeeh and Durood Shareef in Islam.

Once this all is done in the end, making a keen Du’a e Haajat is compulsory. This helps in the fulfillment of one’s requirement or obscurity.

Salaatul-Haajat Benefits

Salaat-ul-Haajat rewards or benefits cannot be explicitly mentioned as they come from the purpose of the prayer. It is a prayer of the need and the rewards with benefits as per one’s need and wishes. It is a powerful salaat and must be performed with a pure heart and complete surrender to the Almighty. When said with honest intentions, this prayer is sure to fulfill all wishes and fetch miraculous rewards from Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, the most merciful.

It is a prayer basically recited for wishes or the fulfillment of any specific purpose.

The meaning of this du’a in the words of Abu Dawood is, “Whenever a matter became serious, the Prophet (SallAllahu ’alaihi wa Sallam) turned to salah.” It means that one can plead to God Almighty at any time asking for help, for Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) is the most merciful and beneficent. Among all voluntary appeals to Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala), there is also one important prayer, which is called Salaatul Haajat. It is observed for the purpose of completion of one’s particular Haajah (need). It is but one of the ways to pray to the Almighty for one’s rightful wish.

“He who makes wudhu, and does it properly, then prays two Raka’ats, Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) will grant him whatever he may pray for, sooner or later” (Ahmad)

How to perform Salaatul-Haajat?

For performing these prayers or namaz, there is a particular format that has to be followed. Here’s a quick guide on how to pray Salaatul-Haajat.

The person performing Salaat-ul-Haajat has to start making a Wudu’. Wudu’ is a cleansing ritual that is performed as an important part of purity and cleanliness in Islam.

After this two Raka’ats are performed with an intention of Nafl Salaat.

After the Salaat is completed, the reciting of prayer to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala and Durood Shareef starts. It is considered good to recite as much amount of Tasbeeh and Durood Shareef in Islam.

Once this all is done in the end, making a keen Du’a-e-Haajat is compulsory. This helps in the fulfillment of one’s requirement or obscurity.

Salaatul-Haajat Benefits

Salaat-ul-Haajat rewards or benefits cannot be explicitly mentioned as they come from the purpose of the prayer. It is a prayer of the need and the rewards with benefits as per one’s need and wishes. It is a powerful Salaat and must be performed with a pure heart and complete surrender to the Almighty. When said with honest intentions, this prayer is sure to fulfill all wishes and fetch miraculous rewards from Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala), the most merciful.

It is a prayer basically recited for wishes or the fulfillment of any specific purpose.

confirmed: passengers include the CEO of ocean gate, a British businessman Hamish Harding, Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman (Pakistan citizens), Paul-Henri Nargeolet (a titanic researcher), and an unnamed pilot.

What we know about the missing Sub

For whatever reason this story has absolutely grabbed my attention, and so I will be compiling the information that I can confirm in a decent timeline of events, feel free to message me if y'all feel like something needs to be changed/revised

A company known as OceanGate offers dives to view the wreck of the Titanic, charging 250,000 USD per ride. This sub is not approved by any regulatory body, and is controlled with an xbox controller. The inside is a small tube one would have to sit down to fit inside.

It is not a regular sub, but a submersible, which does not have the power to lauch itself and return on it's own, but instead must be launched and retrieved by a mothership. Thus, constant communication is of the utmost importance.

4 AM, June 18th, an expedition begins. Confirmed passengers are a pilot, a "Content Expert," Businessman Hamish Harding (who posted the linked instragram post,) and two other passengers who are as yet unconfirmed.

Communications with the sub are lost 1 hour and 45 minutes into the dive.

The US and Canadian coast guard begin working together to try and find the sub. The vessel has an advertised 96 hours of oxygen.

The instagram post earlier is found by CNN, although they do not yet divulge who posted it. They reach out to OceanGate for comment and get none.

An additional vessel is dispatched to assist in the search.

The US Coast Guard holds a press conference where they discuss the difficulties in locating the vessel in the remote area it dove into.

Coast Guard surmises that there is 70 to 96 hours of oxygen remaining, although this was reported abt ten hours ago, so it's more like 60 to 86 now.

The coast guard also begins a twitter thread which they are continually updating. They have completed two flights over the area but have not found anything, they will dispatch another plane in the morning.

OceanGate claims to be taking "every step possible" to recover the missing vessel.

Twitter user Kenny Sharpe realizes that he had seen the vessel being towed out to it's expedition and posts photos that he took.

LITERALLY FOUND THIS AS I WAS GETTING SOURCES, Daily Mail claims that the other two passengers are businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son, but given DM's dubious journalistic integrity (to put it nicely,) I would take this claim with a grain of salt until other sources confirm it.
