HOLYCIDE 1st song, cover art and tracklist for new album!!
(en español: https://b.link/holycide9)

Spanish Thrashers HOLYCIDE have just announced details of their 3rd album which will be titled "Towards Idiocracy". They have revealed the cover art, the tracklist, as well as the first advance single that can now be heard on all digital platforms. "Towards Idiocracy" will be released in June 6th (international day of Slayer) through XTREEM MUSIC on CD, 12"LP, Cassette and Digital formats.
Formed exactly 20 years ago by Dave Rotten of Avulsed and Vicente Paya of Unbounded Terror/ Golgotha, the band really began their journey in earnest in 2013 and since their exciting debut EP “Toxic Mutation” back in 2015, HOLYCIDE have held the banner high for uncompromising, undiluted Thrash Metal – in the words of the mighty Exodus, “100% all out nothing less, aggressive relentless and mean”.
Like no other band in the modern age, HOLYCIDE’s dedication to Thrash is absolute and with their third full length album, “Towards Idiocracy”, they have created a genuine Thrash masterpiece. From the opening attack of ‘A.I. Supremacy’ to the last defiant chord of final track ‘Flamethrower ‘em All’, via a flawless cover of the Atrophy classic ‘Chemical Dependency’, “Towards Idiocracy” is a nirvana of monstrous riffs, relentless drums and a snarling vocal presence that will have the faint ears running for the hills. A caustic attack on humanity’s pathetic addiction to a shallow, selfish existence, “Towards Idiocracy” is every bit as vehement in its unforgiving lyrical exhortations as in its rapid fire, twin guitar assault. HOLYCIDE are setting the standards for Thrash in 2024!
HOLYCIDE is best described with four simple words - Mother Fucking Thrash Metal. For fans of Dark Angel, Morbid Saint, Atrophy, D.R.I., Infernäl Mäjesty, Exodus, Sepultura (Beneath/ Arise), Vio-Lence...
Still bonded by blood with Xtreem Music, HOLYCIDE will unleash the fistful of Metal that is “Towards Idiocracy” on June 6th – the international day of Slayer. What more fitting release date could there be for an album which is HOLYCIDE’s very own “Reign in Blood”? Their most intense, unyielding and inexorable album to date! Mixed and mastered for maximum impact by Javier Fernández Milla (Avulsed, Golgotha, The Heretic, etc) and Davide Billia (Hour of Penance, Beheaded, etc) and housed in the vividly violent artwork of Daemorph Art (The Black Dahlia Murder, Sorrow, Bodyfarm, etc), “Towards Idiocracy” is the complete Thrash package. Prepare for detonation!
So far, 2024 comes with great plans and goals for HOLYCIDE, not only with the release of the new album, but with the return to the stage with two confirmations at super-festivals such as Rock Imperium Festival (Spain), Obscene Extreme Festival (Czech Rep.), Kanekas Metal Fest (Spain) and a few more surprises coming up.
Tracklist for "Towards Idiocracy" is as follows:
01. A.I. Supremacy
02. Towards Idiocracy
03. Remote Control
04. Lie is the New Truth
05. Power Corrupts
06. Technophobia
07. Angry For Nothing
08. Chemical Dependency (Atrophy cover)
09. Pleased to Be Deceived
10. Flamethrower 'em All
Release date for "Towards Idiocracy" will be June 6th, 2024 (international day of Slayer) through XTREEM MUSIC on CD, 12"LP, Cassette & Digital formats.

Hi! I hope you’re doing well!
I just wanted to ask about which, in your opinion, are the best books on Washington’s generals and staff? Working on a project and I’m stuck as to where to go for good info on this as a lot has been published on some of these men. I have a copy of Lefkowitz’s Indispensable Men, and a good hold on Hamilton in particular, however I was wanting to dig a little deeper into everyone else.
Apologies if this is a lot, but I figured I’d come to you as I’ve seen you’ve done an extensive amount of research for your own works. Thank you so much in advance and again, I hope you’re doing well!
George Washington's Generals and Opponents by Billias - not my favorite book on the subject of these people, but probably one of the most useful for what you're asking about.
My scope is pretty limited when it comes to which books I'm willing to read on individual characters, but my biggest recommendation for understanding the aides beyond what's in Lefkowitz (and really understanding Lefkowitz better) is to understand the military aspect of the war itself. Take it from the strategic level down to operational campaigns and all the way down to the tactical day-to-day movement. If you can demystify the military culture they lived in, it's a lot easier to imagine the context of what they're talking about in primary sources. Summaries of the whole war:
A Short History of the American Revolution by Preston - easiest summary to digest- salacious & offensive at times
The War of the Revolution by Christopher Ward - most useful. hands down.
The Glorious Cause by Middlekauff - meh. it's good but I don't enjoy it.
A Guide to the Battles of the American Revolution by Savas and Dameron - very very useful for tactical understanding of specific battles
The Real History of the American Revolution by Axelrod - sociopolitical and military summary. wholistic.
Summaries of campaigns or long encampments:
George Washington's Secret War by Thomas Fleming
The Philadelphia Campaign by David Martin** fav
Valley Forge Winter by Wayne Bodle
Fatal Sunday by Lender and Stone
Southern Campaigns of the American Revolution by Morill
This Destructive War by Pancake
The Road to Guilford Courthouse by Buchanan Steuben:
Drillmaster of Valley Forge by Lockhart
The Life of Von Steuben by Kapp Lafayette:
Lafayette by Unger
The Marquis- Lafayette Reconsidered by Auricchio
Adopted Son by Clary

Putridity - Degenerating Anthropagic al Euphoria
This is such a nasty little fucking album that is so fucking dense I can't even picture in my head what their hands are doing when they're playing this music because it is so God damn fast so God damn filled with slam after slam after slam it feels like getting stomped by a fucking biker gang.
First off, did anyone else noticed in the song Sodomize Epileptic Chunks they used the SAME SAMPLE as Last Days of Humanity did on their song Bowl Exhibition! I can't believe I noticed that, but I wonder if it is a tip of the hat to some Metal legends. Either way it's such a ridiculous sample that I just have to love its inclusion here. I think my favorite aspect of this record has to be the drums. Davide Billia, drummer for Putridity, is going absolutely fucking insane on this entire album. It sounds like he makes contact with the drums at least ten times a second. This guy has to be a blast beat God. On top of that the guitar and bass playing are so absolutely fast paced and impressive I feel like just watching them play would tire me out, but when it's just all hitting three thousand notes three thousand beats per second, and on top of that we have some truly disgustingly guttural vocals to boot. I mean Jesus Christ. This is a treat for any of my tech death fans out there who don't mine their music a little slam heavy.

Short Review: Beheaded – Only Death Can Save You (Agonia)
My short review of Beheaded’s Only Death Can Save You, exclusively written for Heavy Music Headquarters:
Tumblr media
Malta’s brutal death metal veterans Beheaded have attacked once again by providing an album full of rage and groove, both to create a stronger position for themselves and to reassure their fans once more. And by releasing their new album Only Death Can Save You, Beheaded have achieved this goal.
Beheaded are known as a group that uses technical death metal elements in their music. However, Only Death Can Save You has lesser technical death touches and it’s heavy and groovy guitar riffs have a tremendous presence throughout the album. The wicked vocal performance of Frank Calleja, as well as the powerful drumming of Davide Billia also have made the sound of the album wicked and savage. Though Only Death Can Save You is not the best work of Beheaded, their fans and brutal death metal admirers will surely be satisfied.
Rating: 3.5/5
