Evidence pertaining to the survival of David Kostyk, an analysis
I’m already writing an overly complex fanfiction about David’s resurrection, that being said, there is sufficient evidence that he is not in fact dead as is implied and I’m going to lay out that evidence for you all here.
First off, the obvious, there is no body, there is blood sure but no body, no remains, no nothing. For those unaware, and the only reason you’d be unaware is if you never watch fantasy or Sci-Fi tv, the number one rule, THE NUMBER ONE RULE! Of TV deaths is as follows, if there is no body, there is no death!
Second, Genya’s seeming confirmation of death was that she couldn’t hear his heartbeat, okay ya pretty damning until you remember, the only reason she could hear his heartbeat before was because Genya was being amplified by Bahgra, you know rubber powerful amplifier. Genya without an Amplifier could very easily not have had the ability to find David.
Next off, I want to point everyone back to 2x04, when Nadia said “The Darkling has always kept him close”. David was not being chased by a Volcra, well he was but the Volcra weren’t what was closing in, it was the Necheyvo’a (Which I know I spelled wrong). These two things combined present sufficient evidence that if given the chance, even while angry, the Darkling would rather have his shadow monsters kidnap David than kill him.
All this evidence combined leads me to multiple different options for David’s return. First off, there is the possibility he could end up being kept hostage by loyal followers of the Darkling. He could be kept hostage by Sankta Lizabeta, or you know many other options on who could be holding him hostage.
The most compelling alternate theory in regards to David’s survival is that of the resurrection plot line. Let’s all be honest, Alina’s in her How Villains are Made phase after resurrecting Mal, Jurda Parem is in play, and King of Scars (and it’s cannon resurrection I might add) is on the cusp of our screens. The sheer magnitude of resurrection chances, not even counting Nina fucking Zenik the Corpse Witch, is sufficient enough evidence to say, even if David is dead, he’ll be back at some point next season.
The most compelling, at least to me (Apart from David being alive somewhere, which he IS), of these options, is the possibility of Alina, slowly slipping into darkness, and resurrecting David for Genya. This feels like a perfect leeway into the King of Scars plot and the, *sighs* inevitable other resurrection that is to come. (But if they do this, that better fucking mean Mattias stays alive)
