Titanic II and Why I Hate It

Today, I watched Titanic 2; and I could probably forgive the crapshoot that is this movie if it had outdone everything from the original.
But—
◇ SPOILERS BELOW◇
The CGI was atrocious, compared to the first movie where the water and the ship and the atmosphere felt real. In the sequel, I'm very aware that I'm watching a movie.
Some of the scenes feel copy and pasted—the ship angled with the passengers sliding down the side and falling from the heights, shot by shot; how the main character and the romantic interest almost imitate the conversation between Jack and Rose on the floating door—
Here's one for yall: I could understand the tsunami, and honestly they should have just kept that and left it at that. But having the tsunami propel an iceberg to destroy Titanic II is a little too on the nose for me and it's kind of lazy writing.
The romance in Titanic was developed, born out of a man trying to save a woman from jumping, and then established throughout the journey before the ship hits the iceberg. We actually care about the man, the woman, the people on the ship. We get to know them. In the sequel, I actually don't like anyone; and the romance angle is more or less mentioned (the woman didn't call him back after six months). So I really don't care who lives or dies.
The fact that Titanic 2 is "prepared to take any icebergs" and can go really, really fast is nullified by the fact an iceberg is propelled into the ship and when they're supposed to be flee from an incoming tsunami, they sit still. Seriously, watch that part because the Captain is like "turn them on!" And I'm just wondering why yall decided to just not move.
The scenes in the dark are too dark. I can't see shit. It's like the final season of Game of Thrones, you know the one. Like what am I seeing?
So. Idk. The fact that a motherfucker irl wanted to actually build an actual ship replicated and named Titanic II is stupid as hell.
I mean, look at what had to be said:

King of the Lost World (2004)
My rating: 3/10
The people in this movie always refer to the big monkey as "Him", once outright stating "We cannot speak his name" - you could almost hear the "for legal reasons" at the end of that sentence.
Anyway, this is The Asylum's take on King Kong, and it is, of course, terrible and boring. Bruce Boxleitner does get to tell a guy to nuke King Legally Distinct From Kong, though, so that was probably kind of fun.

November 9 - Last full day in St Augustine. What did I do first thing this morning? Laundry. There’s always laundry to do. Can’t get away from it. Ever. The marina has one of the best laundry facilities on the ICW. Large room (air conditioned!!). Four washers and 6 dryers, all fairly new and all working! The machines are a bargain at $2 per load. Basket carts to transport your laundry and a big, very clean folding table. There is also an attached boaters’ lounge.
When my laundry went into the dryer, I walked to get a chestnut praline latte from Starbucks. The city streets were empty of traffic and the sidewalks were empty. Perfect scenario for photos!

Looking down Aviles Street, the oldest street in St Augustine
David and I met his nephew Michael and his family for lunch. We ate at what used to be called The Cellar Upstairs located on the rooftop at San Sebastián winery. The Cellar had the best burgers! Unfortunately, the Cellar closed and the restaurant is now run by someone else. Not the same. Mike and I both wanted ice tea. Well, the restaurant offered “made to brew” tea. Nope. What is wrong with Lipton (or similar) tea? Despite the disappointment with the menu, the food was ok. The best part of the meal were the people we shared it with.

Mike, Megan, Lucas, Natalie and Olivia Stepler
Midafternoon we once again met up with Bob and Wendy. We walked and talked and walked and talked. We took a break from walking (but not talking) and indulged in a couple of plates of wings. When our eating was done, it was only 5:00. Way too early to go back to the boat for the night. So, we walked some more. We walked across the Bridge of Lions. Great view of the ICW from the bridge.

View from the Bridge of Lions looking towards the City Marina and the south mooring field.
Our time for fun in St Augustine is over. Molly D will depart at 7:30 tomorrow morning. Our destination is New Smyrna Beach, which is south of Daytona, a distance of about 60 miles. Molly D will travel 60 miles on Monday, and a short 35 mile trip on Tuesday will bring us into Vero. We can’t wait!

CHRISTOPHER STEVENS on TV last night: Starving farmers? These actors are sipping latte macchiato

The Gallows Pole (BBC2)Evaluation:The Great British Sewing Bee (BBC1) Evaluation:David walked from Birmingham, that much is clear. "I walked from Birmingham," he told his sister-in-law, Gwen."He walked from Birmingham," Gwen told her sister Grace. "He walked from Birmingham?" Grace repeated, checking to make sure she got the facts right. Later, Gwen's husband asked David where he had been. "Birmingham," announced David. There must be something in the Yorkshire waters The Gallows Pole (BBC2), because an hour later, Grace was still confused. 'Where have you been?' she asked David. Guess what he replied.Either the entire extended family in this 18th-century village is suffering from acute short-term memory loss, or the actors are having trouble with their dialogue.“The Gallows Pole” is loosely based on a novel by Benjamin Myers, which in turn is based on the historical legend of a gang of starving weavers who turned to counterfeiting and counterfeiting at the dawn of the Industrial Revolution.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/180603fd1dbea179f4f9da846fd08095/bbc8a765462978b7-fa/s540x810/3a577a84dff523376f94d45d9bbd45557c77d499.jpg)
Michael Socha plays David Hartley in The Gallow's Pole (BBC2) alongside Sophie McShera as his wife GraceNot that you'd expect from the first part of this three-part series, which took a while to get going, to say the least. HEARTBREAKER OF THE NIGHT
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/63b8743d29b24ee8204903df34067127/bbc8a765462978b7-82/s400x600/0b97ee18d3217d9c95987c3c57366e075fbc6731.jpg)
Soaps tend to kill characters ruthlessly. But the death of Lola (Danielle Harold) from a brain tumor at the hands of EastEnders (BBC1) was handled with great sensitivity - and husband Jay's (Jamie Borthwick) grief was almost unbearable. The first five minutes consisted of a man arriving from Birmingham in a blood-soaked shirt, dragging a bag of blacksmith tools and using deer antlers to ward off demon hallucinations.Captions flashed on screen, warning us of "canals dug by children" while "factories ravaged the country".When David (Michael Socha) finally got home, delirious from an infected stab wound, the villagers crowded around the house, loudly explaining where he had been. Did I mention Birmingham?Director Shane Meadows - who credits himself in the credits with gothic Georgian script as the scene-provider - made his name in the noughties with This Is England, a film about a gang of young skinheads. Starring Stephen Graham and Vicky McClure, much of the dialogue was improvised. He tries the same technique here, but without clear direction or predetermined lines, many of the inexperienced performers falter. They stand frozen, visibly reaching out for something to say, repeating themselves too often, like in a college improv class. When David came up with the phrase "F*** the King!", everyone pounced on it greedily, screeching like parrots.During a heated argument with David, Downton Abbey's Sophie McShera came up with the most telling line as Grace. "Why did you take a big break?" she demanded. "You're taking a big pause, it sounds like a lie."
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/58b5ed63837a43dc283b6901811ef96b/bbc8a765462978b7-ed/s540x810/55bbae4ea2e92de5112bf07f363076af3fc3512b.jpg)
Presenter Sara Pascoe with judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young from the Great British Sewing Bee (BBC1)Without a script, the plot doesn't develop, and without a plot, I got distracted—I wondered why these penniless villagers all had fresh skin, well-groomed hair, and white linen. They didn't look hungry: they looked like they'd been downing oatmilk lattes between meals. For that we can thank the Industrial Revolution and its factories The Great British Sewing Bee (BBC1)which is filmed in a former wool mill called Sunny Banks near Leeds. After a perfectly timed opening episode last week, we already feel like we know the contestants - each had just enough screen time, with select glimpses of their personalities. The sewing challenges involved in making a backpack and a bathing suit are almost irrelevant the more we learn about them. Fauve is an international golfer, Mia makes stained glass, Matthew is a cruise ship entertainer.A holiday theme ran through the show, with strains of sunny music from the Undertones, Eddie Cochran, Donovan and many others. In one assignment, Judge Esme Young called for outfits made from the brightly colored plastic used in beach windbreaks."It's a sculptural fabric," she proclaimed. I have no idea what that means, but the bee is a reliable delight. Read the full article

z nation panel @ sdcc
we had a moment of silence for george romero
some things i noticed initially in the little preview we got:
addy lost an eye
10k has facial hair
Warren is blonde
Murphy's skin is totally back to normal
Kaya has short hair!! and apparently she had her baby and she and citizen z are married!!
actual panel things
Dj couldnt find his nametag
Russell mimed spoking a joint to a fan
Keith on being cast as Murphy: knew next to nothing about the role or show; actually worked in david michael latt’s office at the time
"Most of the time murphys right" - Keith
Murphy says he saved 10ks life on the boat and kellita was like YOU LEFT HIM THERE
Murphy says the group is a family
"its called trauma bonding"
Dj has a retainer so there were lines it was hard for him to say, mainly the iconic Delta Xray DeltaDxd
on citizen z this season:
"I get to kill stuff and i have a kid"
dj is so tired of the artic. its all shot in 100 degree weather with a parka
"can i please leave the arctic" "no"
The airshaft scene was russel's audition monologue
Russell gets weed at every comic con (edibles included)
On season 4
S4 jumps two years
Team has a new mission/reset for the season that is driven by a dream warren has
We see zona
apparently there are 'Unkillable' zombies and citizen z is going to have to deal with one
theyre going to DC at some point
Favorite moments for the cast
keith: the whole murphy is the messiah thing; it was first time he saves the group instead of being just the moody passenger
kellita: getting the job in the first place; warrens journey this season and, of course, the blonde hair
dj: scenes with the kid; the dog hates them
russell: airshaft scene; saving 10k in insane asylum
On the dog:
The dog hates them, isnt trained, and is pretty disobedient
one time DJ put peanut butter in pants to get the dog to come to him and he still refused; the kid is able to be reasoned with
Jellybean takes are for the kid (1 for an easy scene, 2 for a hard one)
On the Murphy loving Warren thing
They arent sure if they would ever admit it to each other, but Kellita says they have a love that goes deeper than a relationshisnt su
Roberta loving murohy is what keeps her going
Cassandra: They dont regret killing her
“i do actually i got some nice back rubs” - keith
Addys arc this season will be surprising and will be controversial
Keith wants zombie masseuses
Dj want a winter episode so they can all suffer like he did in the heat
“i filmed my scenes in 100 degree weather in a parka”
“the snow was made of soap and i inhaled a bunch of it”
How was 5k raised by crows: they liked him and he found them water, thoy adopted him (snow white from hell dj)
Murphy is the character that everyone loves to hate
“you hate him and then he goes and does something really great and youre like....”
Keith directs episode 4.04!!!!!
apparently david michael latt’s wife was on the show at some point
they talked about the fact that all of the z’s have some bits of humanity in them, and thats what the show is really about; how much humanity remains in everyone
at the end after they left the stage keith came over to the ropes and was high fiving everyone and shaking hands and he was so happy to meet us!!! but the guard dude was like “time to go” and was pulling him away so he waved goodbye and was all smiley and it was awesome

Ice Sharks (2016) #SharkWeak2 Review
Ice Sharks (2016) has a legitimate scientific reason for taking the piss. #SharkWeak2 #Review
When an arctic research station finds itself under attack from aggressive sharks and the break up of the ice shelf its built on, the crew must struggle against the odds to survive long enough to be rescued.
There’s a lot that’s confused about this Asylum production and yet its one of few bad shark movies to incorporate some real scientific fact amidst the shoddy CGI and wooden acting. Admittedly,…
