Absent from the body, present with the Lord. On Wednesday, March 2, 2022, David Marshall Price entered into the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ whom he so faithfully served.
David was born March 4, 1940 in Newport News, VA, to Clarence Marshall and Pearl Owens Price. He realized at a young age that Christ Jesus came to earth to take the punishment for our wrongdoings and while sitting on top of a gravestone in the cemetery of Denbigh Baptist Church he prayed and accepted God’s free gift of salvation.
He graduated from Bob Jones University in 1965, and with his wife, Marilyn, began his lifetime of service to God. He began as a youth pastor of Dandy Baptist Church in the community of Dandy, VA. While serving at Dandy he worked at the Newport News Shipyard and Dry Dock on nuclear submarines. From there he became the first missionary sent from Servicemen For Christ (now Armed Forces Baptist Missions), and the family moved to Petersburg, VA, where he ministered to the service personnel at Fort Lee. The family moved back to Newport News where he was then the pastor at Dandy Baptist Church, and in 1972 he accepted the pastorate at York Baptist Temple in Grafton, VA. In 1977, God called him to Landmark Baptist Church and Christian School in Easley, SC where he spent the next 25 years. His great passion was for young people and missions. Throughout his years of ministry, their home was always welcoming to missionaries and many close friendships were made with missionaries from around the world.
He was the most amazing son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and uncle. He cherished all his family - aunts, uncles, and cousins- and was in return, treasured by all his family. He will forever be in our hearts through the life lessons he taught us and the countless memories we made together. Although we already will miss him dearly, we trust in the blessed hope of the promise of God that we will see him again one day.
He leaves behind his precious wife of 59 years, Marilyn; his son, Mark (Sandy) of Easley; daughters, Sherri of Liberty, and Connie Siver (Pernell), of Juneau, AK; grandchildren who were the apples of his eyes: David Graham Price, Annagrace Patterson (Austin), Madison Kate Siver, Craig Myers (Angel), and Jennifer Bearden (Jesse); great-grandchildren who adored their Poppa, Nathaniel David Wayne and Ezekiel Robert Lee Patterson, Natalie Claire and Josie Kate Bearden, and one on the way, Oaklyn Ruth Myers; one brother, Ron Price (Ann) and sister-in-law, Donna Price; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, a brother, Wayne Price, and an infant sister.
Visitation will be Friday, March 4th, at Calvary Baptist Church, 8008 Liberty Highway, Liberty, SC from 6:00 - 7:30 pm. His Homegoing service will be Saturday, March 5th, at Calvary Baptist Church at 2:00 pm.
For those unable to attend, the service will be live-streamed through the Howze Mortuary beginning at 1:50 p.m. at www.facebook.com/thehowzemortuary.
Memorials may be given to the Mission Fund of Calvary Baptist Church.

Free Black History, Palestine, Socialism (and other) books on Haymarket
So, HaymarketBooks is a cool online bookstore that, while it does sell physical and digital books, it also offers a lot of free ebooks on subjects it thinks the public should be aware of.
Two categories I know of are Black History, after some racist law in the US that banned Black History resources
And Palestine, what with government media giving a super biased view of unfortunately
It’s in moments like these that we must turn to independent media and resource providers to educate ourselves on topics the government or other people don’t want us to learn about.
Now, here are all of Haymarket’s books they are offering for free, since their website doesn’t have a filter or sort by price option.
Here they are, 17 in total, as per 2nd Feb 2024 :)
Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions by Omar Barghouti, 320 pages
1989, The Number by Kevin Coval and Nate Marshall, 23 pages
Inauguration by Idris Goodwin and Nico Wilkinson, 23 pages
The Anti-Inauguration by Anand Gopal, Owen Jones, et al., 40 pages
Commando by E'mon Lauren,
Human Highlight by Kevin Coval and Idris Goodwin
1919 by Eve L. Ewing
The New Authoritarians by David Renton
Socialist Strategy and Electoral Politics
The Brother You Choose by Susie Day
Can't Pay, Won't Pay by Debt Collective
Black Lives Matter at School by Jesse Hagopian and Denisha Jones
Palestine: A Socialist Introduction Edited by Sumaya Awad and Brian Bean
Light in Gaza Edited by Jehad Abusalim, Jennifer Bing, et al., 280 pages
A Life of Activism by Howard Zinn, 81 pages
Our History Has Always Been Contraband Edited by Colin Kaepernick, Robin D. G. Kelley, et al.
From the River to the Sea Edited by Sai Englert, Michal Schatz, et al.
While their website is limited when it comes to pricing options, it's not limited with free books, so you don't need to enter a single financial detail to download these books :)
Note: I haven't read any of these books yet so the tags are just based on their book descriptions
Other places for more free books:
Liberation Library
On the colonization and ethnic cleansing of Palestine
Sudan guide, not an ebook, but #keep eyes on sudan #free sudan
Happy reading! :)

You must face the age of not believing Doubting everything you ever knew Until at last you start believing There's something wonderful in you
Dame Angela Lansbury, who died at her home today in Los Angeles at the age of 96, is perhaps best known today as Jessica Fletcher in the acclaimed TV series Murder, She Wrote and in the Broadway stage plays and musicals in significant parts that Hollywood never gave her. But well before that, the Irish-British transplant to America (she and her family left Britain at the height of Nazi Germany’s bombing campaign of her home nation) made her career as mostly a character actress during the Golden Age of Hollywood. She may not have been a major star billed at the top of marquees and movie posters during her time while contracted to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), but she would come to be a recognizable figure to audiences of multiple generations – whether she might be playing a tough saloon owner with a belter of a singing voice, a schoolteacher just making ends meet, Elvis’ mother (despite a nine-year age difference), princesses and queens, the amoral and scheming wife of a political candidate, an emotionally manipulative mother, or a teapot matriarch.
She stepped onto a movie soundstage for the first time at seventeen years of age, while making Gaslight (1944) for MGM. Because she was still technically a minor, she had to be accompanied by a social worker while working on set. Despite this, director George Cukor and her co-stars (including Ingrid Bergman) treated her as equals, all of them recognizing right away her professionality and acting ability. Perhaps producers and studio executives might not have done the same, saddling her so often with character roles, but Lansbury – by all accounts – extended that same kindness Cukor and Bergman afforded to her to so many others over the decades, leaving a legacy that goes beyond whatever personal disappointments she may have had over the more considerable roles she never got to play.
Her distinction as Hollywood royalty came later in life, as our connections of Hollywood’s Golden Age are almost all gone.
Nine of the films Angela Lansbury appeared in follow (left-right, descending):
Gaslight (1944) – directed by George Cukor; also starring Charles Boyer, Ingrid Bergman, Joseph Cotten, and Dame May Whitty
The Harvey Girls (1946) – directed by George Sidney; also starring Judy Garland, John Hodiak, Ray Bolger, Preston Foster, Virginia O’Brien, Kenny Baker, Marjorie Main, Chill Wills, Selena Royle, and Cyd Charisse
The Three Musketeers (1949) – directed by George Sidney; also starring Lana Turner, Gene Kelly, June Allyson, Van Heflin, Frank Morgan, and Vincent Price
The Court Jester (1955) – directed by Melvin Frank and Norman Panama; also starring Danny Kaye, Glynis Johns, Basil Rathbone, and Cecil Parker
The Manchurian Candidate (1962) – directed by John Frankenheimer; also starring Frank Sinatra, Laurence Harvey, and Janet Leigh
Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971) – directed by Robert Stevenson and Ward Kimball; also starring David Tomlinson, Roddy McDowall, Sam Jaffe, John Ericson, Cindy O’Callaghan, Ian Weighill, and Roy Snart
Death on the Nile (1978) – directed by John Guillermin; also starring Peter Ustinov, Jane Birkin, Lois Chiles, Bette Davis, Mia Farrow, Jon Finch, Olivia Hussey, I.S. Johar, George Kennedy, Simon MacCorkindale, David Niven, Maggie Smith, and Jack Warden
Beauty and the Beast (1991) – directed by Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise; also starring Paige O’Hara, Robby Benson, Richard White, Jerry Orbach, David Ogden Stiers, Rex Everhart, Jesse Corti, and Bradley Pierce
Mary Poppins Returns (2018) – directed by Rob Marshall; also starring Emily Blunt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, Pixie Davies, Nathanael Saleh, Joel Dawson, Julie Walters, Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, David Warner, and Dick Van Dyke

The use of a covert “shadow fleet” by Moscow to transport oil in defiance of western sanctions will be a primary focus during discussions between US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy in London this week. The talks are set to take place ahead of US President Joe Biden’s meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Washington.
According to The Guardian, Russia has been using older, uninsured tankers to move oil and liquefied natural gas outside the framework of western sanctions. These vessels operate without western insurance and have been involved in risky ship-to-ship oil transfers near international waters, including off the eastern coast of Sweden. This activity is part of an effort to bypass a $60-a-barrel price cap imposed by the West on Russian oil exports, a measure designed to limit Moscow’s revenues without causing a spike in global oil prices.
Despite the sanctions, a recent study by the Kyiv School of Economics revealed that Russia’s oil revenues reached $17.1 billion in July due to rising oil prices and insufficient enforcement of the price cap. The report also highlighted that while 307 tankers transported Russian crude from January 2023 to June 2024, only a small fraction of these ships have been sanctioned by the US, EU, or UK.
Efforts to disrupt this shadow fleet have been slow. In July, Starmer led an international call at the European Political Community summit in Blenheim to increase pressure on countries allowing these tankers to operate under their flags. However, the number of tankers evading sanctions has not significantly decreased.
The US and UK are expected to discuss further strategies to strengthen enforcement and pressure flag states, ports, and maritime industries to limit the fleet’s activities. One recent success saw Eswatini, a landlocked African state, dismantle its ship registry used for flagging tankers linked to this shadow fleet, following action from the International Maritime Organization.
Earlier reports indicated that Russia’s efforts to use the shadow fleet to bypass sanctions have led to a rise in illegal oil shipments. Studies showed that a significant portion of these tankers are registered in countries such as Panama, Liberia, and the Marshall Islands, with key destinations being India, China, and Turkey, reflecting a shift from traditional EU markets.

SCREAM AND SCREAM AGAIN (1970) – Episode 207 – Decades Of Horror 1970
“Smells like cheese, looks like ham… [takes a bite of sandwich] Oh, no problem. It’s chicken.” Rest assured, Grue Believers. Nothing about this movie resembles chicken. Join your faithful Grue Crew – Doc Rotten, Chad Hunt, Bill Mulligan, and Jeff Mohr – as they dive into that strange vat of boiling acid known as Scream and Scream Again (1970)!

Decades of Horror 1970s is partnering with the WICKED HORROR TV CHANNEL (https://wickedhorrortv.com/) which now includes video episodes of the podcast and is available on Roku, AppleTV, Amazon FireTV, AndroidTV, and its online website across all OTT platforms, as well as mobile, tablet, and desktop.
A serial killer who drains his victims’ blood is on the loose in London. The police follow him to a house owned by an eccentric scientist.
  Directed by: Gordon Hessler
Writing Credits: Christopher Wicking (screenplay); Peter Saxon (novel)
Selected Cast:
Vincent Price as Dr. Browning
Christopher Lee as Fremont
Peter Cushing as Major Heinrich Benedek
Alfred Marks as Detective Supt. Bellaver
Michael Gothard as Keith
Christopher Matthews as Dr. David Sorel
Judy Huxtable as Sylvia
Anthony Newlands as Ludwig
Kenneth Benda as Prof. Kingsmill
Marshall Jones as Konratz
Uta Levka as Jane
Yutte Stensgaard as Erika
Julian Holloway as Detective Constable Griffin
Judy Bloom as Helen Bradford (as Judi Bloom)
Peter Sallis as Schweitz
Clifford Earl as Detective Sgt. Jimmy Joyce
Nigel Lambert as Ken Sparten
David Lodge as Detective Inspector Phil Strickland
First, take a killer film title and an equally killer poster. Then grab a bizarre tale that includes long (yet exciting) car chases, vampires (sort of), Frankenstein (sort of), Nazis (sort of), super Vulcan nerve pinches (sort of), and a bubbling vat of acid. Then cast it with three iconic horror actors and what do you get? Scream and Scream Again from Amicus, directed by Gordon Hessler, and featuring Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, and Peter Cushing. Even if all three are never in the same scene, the results are oddly compelling, yet … goofy and frustrating. Despite the negatives, this film has grown a cult following. What might the Grue Crew make of it?
At the time of this writing, Scream and Scream Again is available to stream from Tubi and Freevee, as well as various PPV options. The film is available on physical media as a Special Edition Blu-ray from Kino Lorber.
Gruesome Magazine’s Decades of Horror 1970s is part of the Decades of Horror two-week rotation with The Classic Era and the 1980s. In two weeks, the next episode, chosen by Jeff, will be Effects (1979), inspired by George Romero’s Martin (1977) and featuring Tom Savini, as both an effects artist and an actor.
We want to hear from you – the coolest, grooviest fans: comment on the site or email the Decades of Horror 1970s podcast hosts at [email protected]
