If you ever watch the movie *A bugs life* I can’t help but headcanon Lich’s voice as Hopper cuz he’s a bully and a boss man.😅 especially the last scene where the ants finally are fed up with him and face him for being a tyrant that he is.

That's awesome you have a voice you can hear for Lich. I haven't watched a Bugs Life in a long time, but I liked the movie as a little kid. I can see the parallels with the characters.

Originally, when I first came up with the concept of Lich's character (Can’t even remember what I originally named him. Maybe it was the same name. Can’t remember. Wow…

Either way, Lich's original backstory/ role in a fanfic [I won't name because I wrote it in middle school and it was AWFUL], was very different from what it is now. The plot of the fuc was a ripoff of the movie ,“Heavy Metal” so Ronnie James Dio or Alice Cooper were the two voices I usually associated him with. "The Mob Rules" and "The Black Widdow" are Lich's theme songs.

BUT Kevin Spacey's voice fits Lich very well, now that you pointed it out.

He is oozing with Hopper vibes.

If I had an obscene amount of money to spend, I would hire these voice actors/actresses/ singers (resurrect them from the grave if necessary) to play my ocs and/or Characters from Invader Zim that never officially were assigned hired voice actors.

At least most of my Irken ocs have voices picked out.

Pepperoncini: Sir Christopher Lee (?) Earle Hyman (?) Even those two would have to pitch their voices lower and more gravely. Cini's voice, especially in his later years, is very, VERY deep and ravaged by centuries of smoking pipe amber. I guess the contrast in his bright, lighthearted, bubbly personality amuses me.

I can’t think of a voice that perfectly matches the voice Cini has in my head. Any suggestions would be welcome.

I’ve been watching signalis video essays and I just want to write a post to try and give my interpretation of the 3 normal endings of signalis and the secret ending based of several in game elements, some head canons I have and frankly just lots of brainrot, copium and game theory levels of grasping at straws. This is basically just shitty fanfiction

So this interpretation hinges on the reoccurring nature of the number 6 in game in addition to Ariane and Alina looking almost identical and what I think the king in yellow is in signalis

Firstly regarding the king in yellow (KiY) I think the KiY isn’t a god but rather is literally the bioresonance itself. In an in game note, bioresonance is described as “a song we all dance too” and that “we all resonate in harmony with it, shaping it, deforming it around us.”.

I think that this shaping and deforming has overtime, caused the resonance to form a limited sort of consciousness that can react to stimuli and shape itself.

Next is the significance of 6 which plays a role in my interpretation, 6 manifests in many different places in game, the prevalence of hexagons, the number of worlds, the number of seals on the KiY book. In then real world six is also reoccurring in many places;

in Abrahamic religions the world was created in 6 days with the seventh being when go rested

the seal of Solomon and the Star of David both have 6 points,

The atomic number of carbon is 6

There are 6 kingdoms in the taxonomy

There are 6 flavours of quark

I believe a similar reoccurrence of 6 happened in the world of signalis and that a combination of people noticing this reoccurrence of 6 and believing it to be important shaped the bioresonance and cause the KiY to react to it, permanently imprinting this importance into itself causing it to have a sort of ritualistic importance.

This leads me to my theory/interpretation regarding the artifact/ritual ending, I think that the entire game is the result of a long ritual to permanently add something to the song of the bioresonance with the artifact ending being the very final part of the ritual, bringing it to completion and causing Ariane to become a god.

I think that before the birth of the grand empress, there was a powerful bioresonant woman who had a lover and something bad happened to them, and they wanted to be together no matter what happens, intensity of this desire combined with how strong her bioresonant ability was caused her to either knowingly or unknowingly project it onto the bioresonance and attract the attention of the KiY.

The bioresonant eventually died and the lover made a stone grave surrounded by 6 stone pillars, left a lily on one of the pillars and died at the grave, unknowingly beginning the ritual all while the KiY watched. Eventually they were both reborn and found each other, nether knowing about their previous life or the ritual and yet still they unknowingly perpetuated it and further reinforce the idea they would always be together with this in turn causing the bioresonant to become more in tune with bioresonance and more powerful in each incarnation.

The Grand Empress would be the 4th incarnation of the bioresonant and would end up causing the event that would affect her future 5th and 6th incarnations and creating Replikas which her lovers future incarnations would become a template for, and then be created as.

This is entirely based on the empress hands puzzle due to it revealing that the Grand Empress killed her self, in contrast to the propaganda stating that The Great Revolutionary killed her, since it stands to reason that the truth would be heavily suppressed to the point that few people, other then the Revolutionary herself, and I doubt Falke and that Ariane would have had no way to find that out unless it was just something she subconsciously knew from when she was the empress. Again game theory levels of clutching at straws.

Her 5th life as Alina continued this cycle, with her eventually being killed and Lilith putting the lily on a grave/pillar, but instead of dying immediately she is taken and becomes the initial neural pattern for the LSTR units but is killed in a bombing and is replaced by a decommissioned Penrose Elster.

Then finally the ritual is near completion, Ariane grows up at the radio station but is forced to go live with her aunt, she’s bullied in school for her individuality, goes through her mandatory military service and applies to the Penrose program to avoid Sierpinski and to be free from the nation, all while either hiding, unknowingly suppressing or just not having manifest her bioresonant capabilities .

Then the events of the Penrose play out and Elster fails to keep her promise and dies and Ariane loses control of her abilities and they manifest as a seperate entity, The Red Eye, which acts on Ariane subconscious, she needs Elster, She wants to Elster to kill her, She needs the promise to be fulfilled, and so The Eye pulls The Penrose into what I will call Carcosa, and creates the signal, projecting Arianes memories, Elsters memories and her very soul out to Arianes birth world, the place where realities intersect and The Red Gate to Carcosa, deep under the earth of Leng. Falke can sense the signal and goes through The Red Gate where she is afflicted with the memories of Elster 512 and causes her to become a second dreamer, distorting reality in Sierpinski. Elster s2301 is infected with Elster 512s memory’s and is overwhelmed, mixing up her gestalt memories and 512s. Over the course of the game she works though them, slowly becoming 512 instead of s2301 and eventually merges with Falke but the gestalt memory’s are too much Ariane isn’t Alina, Elster can’t fulfill the promise and the leave ending occurs, Elster dies, Ariane turns in her sleep and the world is recycled.

Eventually after many cycles and many times leaving without even opening the cryopod chamber, Elster accepts 512s memories but Ariane can’t recognise her, she isn’t 512 she’s still s2301 because like with Falke there’s a disconnect because she hasn’t accepted truly becoming 512, but she wants too and with each cycle she gets closer until she, to borrow elderscrolls terminology, mantles 512 and truly becomes Elster 512, Ariana’s Elster. At long last she fulfills the Promise, but she dies from her wounds and general lack of will to live without Ariane and so the ritual goes incomplete.

But the ritual was so close to completion, it must be finished and so the world is recycled again and again until at long last Elster finds a way to complete the final iteration of the ritual, the Red Eye and Ariane merge together, a threshold is reached and Ariane achieves apotheosis and it becomes an indisputable fact part of the song of the bioresonance, that Ariane and Elster will always be together and nothing can force them apart.

As I said and the beginning this is basically a shitty fanfic born of signalis brainrot and copium.

Review: Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani

It’s been a while since I saw a solid, sumptuous ‘hindi picture’ — the kind that makes you whistle in the seats, out-sing the sound system, and dance in the aisles. I walked into Rocky Aur Rani kii Prem Kahaani expecting anything but that, since the promos had convinced me that Karan Johar had taken a sharp left into the David Dhawan school of filmmaking. Much to my surprise, the film delivered on all those characteristics, and delivered something even those ‘hindi pictures’ rarely do - it was up to date. It’s always interesting to see a filmmaker take a look back his(or her) own filmography, and see what they felt they need to change; Sooraj Barjatya had done it with Uunchai just last year, and failed miserably. Unfortunately, more often than not, this relook starts off with great gumption and falls prey to habit somewhere along the way. We are all victims of habit, hoping to transform into better, more mature, more self aware people. Johar uses this transformation as a narrative trope in this film, and maneuvers it with a lightness of touch that hints at his own self awareness. He challenges a lot of the problems his earlier films had(fatphobia, misogyny, homophobia). A replay of the “keh diya na, bas keh diya” quip from K3G had me and several others in my audi wolf-whistling. Through the film, we see transformations — characters explaining their mistakes, promising to reform, and changing into better people. In his older films, this transformation was spurred on by astronomical difficulty - in K3G, Shah Rukh Khan had go into a ten-year-log exile before Amitabh Bachchan would ask a for forgiveness with fairly gaslight-ey undercurrents; in My Name is Khan, it took a hurricane for Kajol to realise her love for Shah Rukh Khan and apologise. But though delayed, those transformations were always instant. Here, it’s simple - a monologue may unveil hidden reservoirs of confidence in characters, but they undergo full arcs before they can express themselves freely, making transformations seem neither arbitrary or abrupt. Beware though, because by the time Rani delivers speech number eight(I counted) to a character about how they must break free of the patriarchy, I was ready to throw hands. The self-referencing is also turned into a narrative trope (you can spot a reference a minute). There are countless callbacks to old films and old songs - my favourites being a callback to Abhi Na Jao Chhodkar from Hum Dono, which left me as full of awe as when Pankaj Kapur had used it in Mausam; and a character announcing her freedom by singing Aaj Phir Jeene Ki Tamanna Hai from Guide. It made me so happy that after years of self-referencing himself in films like I Hate Luv Storys, Shaandaar and Dostana, Karan Johar has learnt the difference between winking and wanking at us. The references serve a purpose beyond pure nostalgia. The older ones invoke a softer, more romantic time, without dating the film. Even the newer, more light-hearted references serve a purpose - the use of Aaja Meri Gaadi Mein Baith Ja adds to Rocky’s West Delhi/Greater Gurgaon persona. I found myself chuckling at the use of Meri Pyaari Bindu from Padosan in the Namit Das track. The only reference they could have done without was the use of Suno Suno Miss Chatterjee in a romantic moment which needed more softness, and less foot-tapping. This invoking of the past is reflected in the writing as well - the characters don’t converse with each other. they speak in dialogue. Characters say things like “Nazar kharab aapki aur pardah kare hum?” and “Aapne mujhe sanskaar nahin diye, ahankar diya hai”. They have so much swagger, you can taste them. The showdowns in the film are satisfyingly melodramatic, and one would expect no less - characters are engaged in such over-the-top conflict that the skies thunder in disapproval. Unfortunately though, the same drama was missing in the songs. Tum Kya Mile and Ve Kamleya are beautiful melodies(even if terrifyingly banal in their arrangement), but Dhindora Baaje Re, which plays out as a pivot for the story just pre-climax was upsettingly underwhelming and insipid. It may not have worked in Pritam’s favour that we hear his music in the same sitting as some of the most memorable tunes from Hindi films. As for the performances, they were just outstanding - Ranveer and Alia both pull off two very difficult things - Ranveer plays an outlandish, uncouth, near repulsive character while endearing us to him, and Alia shows us both her condescention/amusement at Rocky and her endearment to him. I think Ranveer will get more praise for his character - it’s the kind of character that shouts out at you to tell you how well the actor is acting, but Alia does a better job — Rani is put in situations which call for ‘dialoguebaazi’ but nothing seems contrived or put-on. I was particularly impressed by a scene where she comes up with a solution for a problem in Rocky’s family business, but does so without the magic-wand waving of a Hrishikesh Mukherjee character. Instead, she plays the line with an undercurrent of surprise - as though she came upon the answer by accident. As for the million dollar question - do the leads share chemistry? The answer is a resounding YES. They share chemistry, and more importantly, comfort. It’s not the electric kind(like SRK-Kajol in all those other KJo films or Ranbir-Anuska in Ae Dil). Alia and Ranveer just fit. They share an easy comfort with each other, and we understand that they are meant to be with each other, because they make each other happy, and sometimes, it’s just that simple. The supporting cast is also stellar - Shabana Azmi, Tota Roy Chaudhury, Churni Ganguly, Aamir Bashir, Kshitee Jog and Anjali Anand are such fun. I did, however want to check on Dharmendra, who seemed like the light was going to go out of his eyes any minute. Jaya Bachchan seemed to be borrowing her mannerisms from Chacha Choudhary comics and Amrish Puri, trembling in anger and staring into the distance while delivering heavy duty dialogues. The film does justify this bigness and melodrama to a great extent though. There are no normal locations, normal clothes and normal people in this world, only magic. Johar’s idea of a chandni chowk akhara is laughable, but the colours are so vibrant and the lights so bright that you go along for the ride. Why complain about the lack of realism when you are being treated to some of the most beautiful people and places on film? There are enough things to complain about - the bengali family was annoyingly free of fault(something I’m sure all the Bhadralok had no problem with); I found the Shabana-Dharmendra track unconvincing and problematic, even though it was charming; and the Dhindora Baaje Re sequence was a bit too flashy for my liking - but all in all, Rocky Aur Rani is the best thing I did with three hours in my day, and I left the cinema hall with my heartbeat thudding in my ears, my soul nourished and my love for hindi cinema replenished.
