This show stresses the fuck out of me now and not because it has entered its tragedy arc and 1. I enjoy well-done tragedies 2. I started watching this knowing it'll be tragedy anw

But because upcoming events feel just so superficial and I'm not convinced at all about why things weren't preventable. The wedding part was so sad and evoked so many emotions out of me precisely because I could see everyone gave their best fight and in the older gen's pov, their best reasonings for their inaction.

And now?? Many years have passed, Dingzhi has COMPLETELY let his guard down I mean bro if I was having a kid with emperor's runaway consort I'd move places like. every 2 yrs in the very least, Wenjun still trusts people too easily- girl you could've at least consulted the wise monk next door and trusted him to deliver the proper message to Dingzhi or SOMETHING idk, Dongjun seemed to have spent the entirety of those years high on alcohol and wifey and performance adrenaline in his immaculate cloudy mansion and equally unreal carriage, so much for trying to find and help out his missing bro before like, the very last moment.

It all just feels so juvenile and like the scriptwriters have given up because we all know what the ending is gonna be anyway, yknow? It's like they all actively waited for the disaster to hit them.

The only scene that I enjoyed in this ep:

Ep 34

Sikong Changfeng once again fights battles that are not his, while the actual people who need to be doing this are being preoccupied. He's the best boy.

Lei Mengsha also practices inaction but the kind where he will not stop a capable person from doing the right thing, therefore he is also a good boy.

Show ruined Wenjun's character once and forever with the bullshit attitude and reasoning she had in this ep. Girl, I fought tooth and nail to defend your rights and you severely let me down today.

I saw this discussion on Chinese bilibili (autotranslated, but you can understand the basic gist) and I think it explains the problem perfectly.

The problem was never that she was physically weak and comparatively naive. It was not about whether a girl in the exact same position as she did in today's episode would have done the same thing. It's just that the writers don't want her to.

And it's not just Wenjun, at this point of the story, stuff just happen one after the other just because they need to, before BoY.

Ep 35

Singlehandedly the most valid character of the show (not to mention the screenstealing acting, He Yu where have you been before my boy), Ye Dingzhi going berserk was so vicariously satisfying. Like everybody has lofty ambitions but since they are too weakass to accomplish them, they want this poor homebody to be their farm cow and do everything for them or what. Like wtf, enough is enough and everyone got what they deserved.

And if the scene of him killing everyone and taking over the throne wasn't satisfying enough, we get this:

It's the sheer lack of surprise, exhaustion and disappointment he delivers these lines for me. He never expected anything from the world since Day 1, he learnt the humans are shit since very young. He knew he couldn't trust anyone but himself to make his own existence better, let alone fix things for all the humanity. And sorry Dongjun, for all your idealistic speeches and displays, you've never done anything to really have Dingzhi value you as a true friend beyond mere childhood sentiments.

He's the most shunned ex-jianghu personality by the time of Blood of Youth, but in fact he's the most heroic of them ALL, not the much celebrated Lord Langya in my opinion. You call him selfish but what exactly have anyone else of his generation had done for the world out of their so-called selflessness?

He didn't have big ambitions, he simply

And by that, he finally set things in motion to liberate the whole country of years of corrupted monarchy.

And I find that incredibly powerful and timeless and relatable for anyone across the whole world. If you don't fight for your rights, noone will. Someone needs to raise their voice first.

The accomplishments of Blood of Youth's generation wouldn't have been possible if not for the chain reaction he started imo, because as far as I can see noone else among the parents lifted a single finger let alone laying a foundation for the kids to work upon because they were all too busy looking at the bigger picture or whatever.

The Bhiwadi airport was supposed to be developed by the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC). Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) is an industrial corridor connecting wealthy north with prosperous west to promote and exchange business with an ease of convenience. Now this airport has an approval of hosting a Green-Field cargo airport in Alwar district of Rajasthan. The senior officials however, found more feasibility and development of the area by constructing airport in Noida of Uttar Pradesh in comparison of Rajasthan. This proposed airport is second after Indira Gandhi International Airport in National Capital Region and will be added as a distinction in the marksheet of National Capital Region of hosting two airports. It is proposed to be biggest airport after complete operational practices with an estimated sanctioned budget of rupees 15,000 crores on 2,200 acres of land, According to NIAL (Noida International Airport Limited) which is an implementing agency of Governmental mega project.   The airport is expected to be fully operational by 2023 with capacity of 12 million passengers with a vision of occupying 70 million for two runways and 200 million passengers for six runways during its further stages. It will serve 37 domestic flights and 31 international travel destinations. It will act as a major relief for the passengers travelling from western UP and Rajasthan. This is because at present, they had to travel all the way to Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport to take flights with extra travelling time of 3 - 4 hours. The proposed site of airport is very close to State highway SH-22A connecting Palwal and Aligarh. It will also be connected with Palwal - Kurja Expressway. The current site is also connected with 100 metre wide Eastern Peripheral Expressway (passing through Yamuna Expressway at Formula one Track) connecting Palwal, Manesar, Gaziabad, Bhagpat and Meerut.

Inspite of having a feather in its cap, Jewar will also reap number of benefits by the introduction of this airport. Directly or indirectly, it will be proved to be a major job provider for more than 1 lakh people. This interchange will be built in Jaganpur-Afzalpur area which will serve as a better option for travelers. Currently, passengers have to travel 11 kms to Sirsa interchange at Akbarpur to reach the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE). It will also help commuters coming from Kundli, Palwal, Agra, Greater Noida and other areas of Delhi-NCR. Proposal has also been given for connecting the two prominent airports in Delhi-NCR, IGI and Jewar airport. This connecting passage will increase the market of trades as traders will have an option to spread their business in other parts of Delhi-NCR especially nearby regions of Uttar Pradesh.

Increased Economy: Due to this increased linkage and connectivity, farmers will also have benefit of selling and exchanging their crops with broad world market. It will give a considerable hike in tourism and economic potential of Jewar as predicted by the Union Civil Aviation Ministry. It will positively impact the economy of the region just like the way South Delhi and Gurgaon developed due to their proximal distance from IGI. I love the super powerful but easily spooked wooden sword wielding Mt. Wangcheng disciple, kid you *really* don't need to try study under Master Li, just because he's "the" shifu doesn't mean he's better. He will teach you nothing and isn't batting an eye at his exam candidates dying right under his eyes. Srsly, Mt. Wangcheng, the Lei family and Changfeng's Medicine Shifu's Valley seem to be the only places suitable to bring up well-adjusted, grounded kids in this universe.

Baili Dongjun gotta be the naivest ML I've encountered in a while, and by naive I mean beyond the levels of your average innocent, inexperienced teen full of sunlight and getting jaded overtime such as Fang Duobing, Wu Xie, Zhang Chulan etc.

Dongjun has grown up so sheltered and full of positivity, he doesn't seem to register the gravity of things even when they are right in front of his face almost to the point of stupidity.

He provides a stark contrast against his friends, Sikong Changfeng who's been the sweetest but also most down-to-earth kid to begin with and Ye Dingzhi who's been dealing with the weight of the whole world since childhood.

That part where Dongjun saw the arrest warrant for Dingzhi who also turned out to be his long lost bff, was told by his elders that they'll take care of the matter and will bring Dingzhi to him, Dongjun was just like "Ok cool! That's settled then! I'm gonna just chill and have a drink with my new girlfriend then!" was almost funny but sad because,

Kid, you are going to be in a WORLD of hurt VERY soon. You trust strangers way too much!

I mean in BoY you see how severely Dongjun has crashed to the point of wanting to create a broth of oblivion..... I can totally see how that happened.

Also my bb Changfeng is back! And straight away he also joined the baby making game, and Dongjun has no choice but to be a good wingman to his bros at this point lmao

Changfeng chose the most comparatively normal and mundane romance arc too. She's the top courtesan for sure but still, for many young gentry she wouldn't have been anymore worth than a fling, but Changfeng just went ahead and offered her the most genuine, authentic companionship ever without a second of hesitation. And walked out head held high, with ZERO idea about how suave and sexy it made him and I'm like:

Alrighty let's organise all my thoughts in neat lil piles.

1. Personally the type of Wuxia I enjoy is the more subdued, mature and philosophical vibe like that of Sword Snow Stride and Mysterious Lotus Casebook. I rarely watch youthful, lighthearted, rom-comey wuxia/xianxia/xuanhuan. I didn't enjoy BoY a lot and I still wonder how I managed to finish it, the few characters I loved were Wuxin, Tang Lian, Zhao Yuzhen, Prince Chong and Prince Lingchen, because they had the acting style and character arcs that were closer to my preferences.

I clicked on Dashing Youth just for the curiosity and out of "since I watched BoY anw, I'm kinda obligated for this" feeling, but unexpectedly, within 10 mins I was in love lol. Many of the actors I already know and love, the bromance is instantaneous and strong, the promise of a good tragedy is alluring, and I could enter the worldbuilding faster because I already know what to expect from this universe.

AND I ADORE how the casting directors seem to have chosen actors with BLs/BL-vibe shows under their belt for all the important roles, they all know exactly what to do and like:

I for one am not mad about all the CP pushing promo the showmakers are doing. I mean, even if this was a super straight story we'll end up with gay fanfics anyway, right? So just as well we get to see our fantasies haha 😏

Ep 9- It's amazing how I personally didn't really enjoy BoY, but Wuxin instantly got my love and while I'm 10x more drawn to Dashing Youth, the one who won me over above everyone else is again, Wuxin's dad. Also, Wuxin's dad is a chef! How can I not love this baby!

Ep 10- Ever since his intro from ep 1 where he went all, "wow, what a fate!", I love the parts they do these crossover jokes

(In fact, instinctively performing Qimen Dunjia is possibly how LMS figured out the trajectory the other boys were going to be in LMAO)

Now they need to add some tomb robbing jokes when Bai Shu and Neo interact and it'd be perfect!

Also it feels kinda fateful that Lei Wujie would go bond with Xiao Se, Lei Mengsha was best bros with his uncle Langya.

That's it. I've found my most favorite Cdrama character of the year. Do I love everything about him? No. Is he very relatable? No. Is he the best acting performance of the year? No. But heavens forbid if Master Li is written in a way that is just SO understandable and consistent for the setup of a sunny fearless youth who became an immortal and grew weary and bored with time, and decided to just stop with immortality and take one more chance at truly enjoying the mortal world so he could die satisfied. He's just so fucking intriguing to me I could write a 5 page essay about him! I guess I have already written about 2.5!

Dingzhi baby I wish you stop trying to hoard all your grievances and responsibilities in your heart all alone 😔 Tbh can't blame him, that's what happens when you were brutally stripped from your family and friends as a child and grew up with noone but an equally sad master, it stops occurring to you that you need to depend on other people sometimes. And it's not like Dongjun is the brightest bulb in the room to get a proper reading of everything Dingzhi is hiding behind his dazzling grins.

Gods I think the last time I saw (and cared for) a het estranged couple (plus the girl being forced into a romantic/sexual arrangement she didn't want) was in Shaolin Wendao, but at least there was solace at the end of the story for the sheer agony the characters and the viewers went through. And I already know there will be none for Dashing Youth😭 Why am I doing this to myself.

I need to rewatch BoY just so I can see the younger gen stand up to the monarchy that their parents gen couldn't topple.

Ep 36

This ep had nothing much of interest for me, all this talk of "bringing Ye Dingzhi back to the rightful path" is boring af like you never asked him what is it exactly that he wants, not before, not now

The part where Dongjun cultivates at the edge where mortal world meets the start of heavens was very cool, if a story wants to convince me that he rebuilt his lost cultivation in a year, this place is as good as it gets for the purpose.

Evil sister being permanently imprisoned and left to rot than being granted an immediate death is super satisfying

This part was pretty sweet, the way he closed his eyes and put his stubbly chin in her palms

Ep 37

When I watched He Yu's Dashing Youth interviews etc, I thought he sounded unusually straightforward and frank for an idol actor. And then I looked at his profile and realised that dude is an Architecture graduate and went to Vancouver for further studies and then returned to China to participate in acting workshops. Well THAT explains a lot of things. For example, how he carries himself with such gravitas and confidence despite being a new actor, he basically stole the show from HMH from the very ep 1 imo and that did not happen just because he looks good, because everyone looks amazeballs in this show anyway.

Not to mention "hurt young dad trying his best" is not a role you often see among Chinese idol dramaland main characters, and even rarer for a newbie actor to take on such a role. Like he came in and served. End of the story.

FINALLY. The two most grounded characters of the show meet up! Funny how at first I shipped them with Dongjun and as time went on the less interesting let alone shippy Dongjun felt and now I can't help but imagine, what if these two met earlier, instead?

And gods, this is exactly what I love about Changfeng. Despite being the sweetest baby of the show, he's incredibly realistic and doesn't care for the popular beliefs let alone factions. He'd rather have a face-to-face with the problem at hand and form his opinion.

"Hey buddy, wanna spar?" Just like that. Unafraid and non-judgemental, because he has not formed any yet, because he doesn't have a reason to. And he instantly won over Dingzhi who rarely trusts anyone. Too bad they met only now.

Aww, I feel like this is a nudge to their other-selves in I Am Nobody, right?

"I've stopped saying corny things and have turned mature because any sentence could be your last in the battlefield, and ends up getting carved on your tombstone."

Yeah Mengsha, that's exactly what will be on your grave. "HAHAHAHAHA"

Putting the disturbed souls to rest in the name of his daughter, that's Sikong Changfeng. It sounds kinda morbid on paper, but in truth only the most purest, benevolent person in the world would be able to do that. I was reminded of The Untamed for a second there.

Daring the monarchy from atop the palace gate, as the most peerless person in jianghu atm. I think both Master Li and Master Rain Demon would be proud of you.

Yknow, for Dingzhi who suffered from wishy washy treatment from most people all his life (yes, that includes you too Dongjun), a clear yes/no answer to this question would've been a mercy.

Ep 39

This was unexpectedly hilarious lol

Little girl u are pissing me off. You weren't born when the definitions of right and wrong were created in the world.

"What is wrong is wrong" bruh shut up, you are embarrassing your dad and not in the serotonin-inducing way he always embarrassed himself.

And I called Dongjun blindly idealistic.

Speaking of whom, Dongjun and Yue Yao actually kinda redeemed themselves for me again in this ep, by proving that even at this point, the "righteousness" he cares for is for his Yun ge to get the happiness he deserves.

Would've been better if you actively stepped up earlier than this to safeguard the happiness that he and Wenjun had found by a margin, tho. You had years of opportunity and now it's too late.

For softhearted lackeys, Wuxin's gay uncles are pretty alright regarding being grounded characters. They don't have lots of choices to work with, but at least they aren't led around by nose with all the pointless politics and try their best to follow their hearts.

Ep 40

Yeah yeah, blame the woman in the end. The sad thing is that he's a historian, and it's not a surprise that this came out of his mouth.

Rocket science

Same as with Hanyi, I was mad at Ye Xiaofan too like kid what point exactly are you trying to prove to your ge by appearing like this at this moment, but then he redeemed himself and I'm very happy about that. Give him treats.

Ok I'm crying. Wenjun's conviction and determination in the final act makes me forgive her again. Honestly, I wouldn't have disliked her even a little bit if not for that lazy stupidity the show made her commit in ep 33 anyway.

But alas, it's too late. My baby 😭

Good to hear Yue Yao's sister died, even glad that screentime wasn't spared to see it happen because I really don't give a fuck.

Finally, Dongjun meets his ge's child. Lil Wuxin cowering away from him at first served him right.

It's so sad how Wuxin lost his parents and adoptive uncles all together within such a brief period of time. I remember disliking the uncles when they took Wuxin away in BoY, but now I understand them even though it was AGAIN at the expense of Wuxin's rights to be with the people he wants to at that moment. It's sad that whatever person Wuxin would grow emotionally attached to, he has to part from them because of others' arrangements.

Woah, you two have been canoodling around in your fairy carriage for the whole world to see for years and you haven't been married yet? Scandalous, Dongjun 😂

Final Verdict

Despite the lazy and unconvincing middle eps, the final stretch is near perfect, the characters I've grown to have beef with (Dongjun, Wenjun) redeemed themselves, Yue Yao grew a little bit more of personality, the amazing main characters remained amazing (Dingzhi, Changfeng) and so did the amazing side characters (Lei Mengsha, Master Li, Luo Qingyang, Jade deity). Well, I suppose they've written themselves to a corner with Prince Langya, he feels definitely less glorious of a person than he was treated in BoY, after seeing Dashing Youth. So I'm ok with not seeing his character wrap-up here.

I started with giving this a 8.5/10 and ended with a 7.5/10, but overall I really enjoyed the themes of how different generations of people answer times of suppression, and balance morality, friendship and family, and what exactly is the end goal of a martial artist. The people were extremely pleasant to look at, the fight CGIs were epic visual feasts, and I did enjoy myself a lot considering how I rarely watch idol Wuxia/Xianxia/Xuanhuan.

Ep 26

Watched everything in 2x because I'm still reeling from prev ep, everyone's busy preaching and talking politics and shit and some of them are right but it pisses me off there's not a single character who'd think from the perspective of that poor little darling who is getting bedded without her consent with every wasted second. Well, Luo Qingyang and Dingzhi do but it's not like they are given that much of screentime.

I can understand that all the parent/grandparents gen are thinking about the "bigger picture" and their priority is to keep their giant families safe before anything else but it wouldn't take much effort for at least one of them to say ONE sympathetic line about Wenjun. Almost all the caring lines that came from everyone had been for Dingzhi, for losing his girl and not about how WENJUN is being taken against her will. Other than LQY and Dingzhi, only Dongjun asked: "Does she want to marry the Prince? If not, I'm in for the fight".

AND AFTER THE FAILURE THAT WAS ABOUT IT

Dingzhi is still alone, his only option is bidding time for 2 yrs till his power grows. And that too only thanks to two kind monks, one of which an old man and the other a literal child. Great. Just great.🥲 If noone else feels pressed enough to help shorten that time might as well just make a casket for the pieces of Wenjun's permanently broken soul by then.

Don't quote "butbutbut in historical times that's what it was like, nobody cared for what an insignificant girl thought" at me.

1. Don't bulk insult ancient people. They were perfectly capable of recognising injustice in matters like this and speak up against it, it's just that it wasn't a winning game most of the time. It's up to the storytellers to decide if you'd have a SINGLE character who'd provide a feminist pov.

2. This is not even a period drama anyway. Period. The storytellers have even less excuse now.

Ep 27

This is the only dynamic that brings me solace in this show now. No wonder that Dingzhi wanted his child to grow up under Reverend Wangyou.

There are more gays in the block but sorry boys I'm so not in the mood for shipping anymore

The rest of the ep is full of more heartbreak for Wenjun and disgust towards some others who are not worthy of being mentioned.

Ep 28

So you had six children already, and though you said you were besotted with Wenjun for a while now, you created your sixth child barely two months before marrying her. I'm all for polycules and would even enjoy harems in period settings where it's almost always difficult to not have power imbalance and have 100% happy partners all around, as long as it's shown mutual respect was present and sufficient effort was put in for all the relationships. But here?

Your first wife is freshly pregnant and you weren't patient enough to wait and earn the second wife's consent, I hope your dick rots and falls off.

Thank you for saying that, Dongjun. 😭 Though I've lost interest in you like, a LOT, I still love you. Also shame on you, Yue Yao. What a waste of your existence as a female character.

I love this guy solely for having a Targaryen throne and for planning to put the star-crossed lovers together, though it's for his own agenda. At this point, I'll take anything. Since there won't be a happy ending anw, I just want them to have their single illusory pocket which they more than deserve.

Have I mentioned I just love that there's a website literally named to sound like "bu ke neng (no can do)" lol

These steampunk spy fax machines are super intriguing

I'm not sure if I find it hilarious that Lei Mengsha gets so severely beaten by his wife right in front of their child. When children are involved in the scene, I find it hard to digest scenes like this, no matter the excuses "it's exaggerated for comedic effect" "between two martial artists, that beating is akin to going easy" nuh uh.

Changfeng just exudes such wholesome and earnest aura (besides the obvious future potential), Master Li the indifferent just casually let him into his exclusive academy just so he can hang out on the roof with his bestie lol.

This girl just pisses me off. Idk why.

Something about the veiled hat shige Liu Yue strikes me as sad. Idk if it's just Zhu Zhengting, but there's this contradiction in his personality that I can't exactly finger onto and it simply feels like he's hiding a lot of baggage behind his cover (not just literally, lol). On paper he sounds like a pretentious snobby handsome top student, but in reality he barely go out let alone mingle and put on airs. His bestie is a quiet and rigid guy just as mysterious as him, but in a different way. He cares a hella lot about his disciple's wellbeing and safety and his excitement for having her seems to come from a 100% genuine place, in a "omg I have a new companion to play and discuss my interests with!" and not in a "I'm so cool, I'm the only one among y'all to have a student!" way. I mean sure, he hosted the exam and attends all the gatherings and is plenty sassy mouthed, it's just the vibe he gives me and I can't figure out why.

Ep 18

Changfeng is just that buddy whom you meet once every six months and have tender loving hookups with and then you both go ta-ta till the next time.

Prince Ruofeng came to judge a match for his charge and went home with an unplanned level boosting

No.1 lesson you should master as the disciple of Rain Demon: Always look hot in the rain

Ji Ruofeng's mask has a super unfortunate fit, the mouth hole is positioned not straight over his mouth but on his lower lip, so when he speaks the wobble of the lower lip shows like "blubbablubbablubba" through the hole and it looks silly instead of intimidating.

Ep 19

Eyy hiya Dongfang Xunfeng! Suddenly Master Li feels so much more non-hostile lol. Also him wanting a double-character surname (like his student and his bestie) for his new name is so funny, considering how he had an overdramatic name in his previous show too. When he listed some double character surnames they should've had him mention Dongfang as well, missed opportunity.

Never take a lone fisherman brooding below an ancient tree lightly. He's either a reincarnation of Jiang Taigong or a powerful cultivator or both.

This is not a dynamic I ever expected between these two characters

Ep 20

Rain Demon may not be a "good" shifu, let alone an ideal teacher, but damn if they weren't caring and kind in ways most socially-accepted veteran martial artists weren't. Even Master Li agrees.

The Smithy shifu saying giving weapons names is so pretentious had me in stitches😂 He would've loved Wei Wuxian.

Dorks

Not Luoxia jumping to emphasize that she named Dongjun's sword, lol girl are you feeling threatened? And Dingzhi simply responds by naming his sword in a way that compliments Dongjun's (I don't know about the specifics, will have to look up the characters for Cinderless and Pavillion Moon later to see if they are from the same poem or smth). Smooth.

It's pretty bittersweet how Dingzhi says that he mostly just wanted to check out his shifu's rival when he took the exams before, and now he definitely wouldn't become his disciple when his shifu had passed away. And Master Li muses that Rain Demon possibly was a better shifu than him.

Also, that'd be the second kid who said they just took the exams to see what the big deal about Master Li was, and ultimately decided their original shifus were more preferrable 🤣

Ep 21

Whaaat Dingzhi is alr leaving!? I thought he was finally going to meet Changfeng and share boyfriend notes 😔 This show is really hellbent on showcasing the fleeting nature of the encounters in Jianghu. But I actually love this "everyone knows everyone and often meet each other at the most random and unexpected places and then separate again" aspect of Dashing Youth, it adds a certain touch of realism plus wistfulness, compared to any other show's too perfect coincidences that happen only at most opportune moments. Here, coincidences are *just* that.

Now that Master Li has put away his jaded persona and is kinda in his original candid form, I can really understand why he took a liking to Dongjun. They are more or less of the same personality. The endless curiosity, positivity and romantism and that surefire vibe that they have been/are going to be severely disappointed upon the realization that the way of the world as they imagined was a lie.

Master Li came to peace with this truth thankfully before he could fully lose himself, and stripped his own immortality and eliminated the path of seeking it for the future generations as well. If Dongjun were to reach that place (not that it'd be possible anymore) I think he'd make the same choice. It's fitting that Master Li visited the only other immortal Mo Yi for the last time before his deed, who stayed immortal all the way through and eventually lost himself, and it was by-then adult Dongjun's task to talk Mo Yi out of it, passing over the truth his shifu realized.

(He definitely looks like the gentle scholar he claims to be in those baby blue and light gold. What a vision! Zhang Chenxiao is perfect in this role! He really brings out that kindred-spirit ness with his disciple.)

Lol finally someone other than Dongjun in the new gen accepts you as their shifu, and it's Changfeng and his biggest reason was probably he was too nice to say no

Earlier, I was thinking how Blood of Youth universe is like Wuxia but if it was very, very extra, and their power displays are bordering the levels of what you see only gods can do in other Xianxia shows, so just how high the cultivation of hypothetical gods in BoY universe must be, if they are straight up aliens or smth.

And in today's ep I got the answer to that: there's no answer. You will never know what the heaven looks like in this universe, for this is firmly a regular mundane world (no outside "magic" to wield, all the pretty displays result from the people's own personal cultivation only) and just like for us, for all they know the gods in the heavens might not have "powers" by the definitions of humans at all, they are simply a parallel and different plane of existence than the Earth and there's no point comparing the two types of existence, as they will never interconnect.

Yes it is fantasy genre but at the end of the day, it's still firmly within the boundaries of mortal world. Masters who'd cultivate high and perform miraculous displays have always been a part of folktales all over Asia, but the rule is that no matter how fantastical, they are still a part of "tirascheena/triyagdina vidya (horizontal sciences)" that will not help you see what its like in heavenly planes, let alone escape the circle of samsara, for which you will need the "vertical" cultivation aka you will have to sit in a corner and cultivate your mind for that.

In simpler terms, this kind of setup is what you call wuxia in Chinese storytelling, which is also still more heavily believed to be the truth, beyond "they are just fairytales" in religion-inspired cultures like mine, as in you can find grandpas who will say that theoretically these sort of feats are possible, that our ancestors achieved them though we cannot because we are much more distracted these days etc etc(I mean, they do have a point 🤷‍♀️).

So if you take this as the "norm", then gods, demons, humans and other spirits getting to roam across each others' worlds by xyz means and draw and wield all sorts of magic from outer sources becomes "fantasy", aka xianxia.( And xuanhuan is a third thing, if this terminology is all convoluted to you here's a concise helpful guide btw)

ANYWAY, my initial impression of this universe was that it's a very flashy costume fantasy that jumped among xianxia, wuxia and even xuanhuan genres as it wished, but turns out it's not. You can try attain the highest levels of cultivation, but at most it will make you stop aging, which will result in you being this very lonely, very tired person who is neither here nor there, and is slowly losing their humanity. It is not a desirable kind of ultimatum, aka the capricious, exciting path of sword cultivation is not how you can reach the enlightenment of breaking the binds of mundane world.
