really interested in your work on PierMesh, but would you consider sacrificing some of the range from LoRa to support non-proprietary standards like 802.11ah or DASH7?

Already have an 802.11ah board I'm planning on experimenting with but I hadn't heard of DASH7 so I'm looking into that and it seems very useful. The thing is we're not stuck with LoRa in any way (because to add a new transceiver it just requires writing a class to interface with that transceiver) but frankly the 254 km possible distance of LoRa between 2 nodes is over 100x what's on offer from other protocols right now so here's how I see it: we will likely use 802.11ah and DASH7 as part of the architecture primarily for cities while LoRa will be able to connect between cities. We will probably shift more to other protocols as they improve and get cheaper to deal with (afaik Lilygo put the only sub $70 802.11ah/Halow board on the market very recently, which is the one I have right now) and get better range.

On this day in 1975 the first flight of the de Havilland Canada Dash 7 airliner was made at Malton ON. The DHC7 was designed as a STOL (short takeoff and landing) 50 seat regional airliner capable of operating from strips as short as 915m in length. The first production Dash 7 flew on March 3 1977, and the plane entered service with Rocky Mountain Airways on February 3 1978. Production of the Dash 7 ended in 1988, after Boeing's takeover of de Havilland Canada. Of the 113 manufactured 47 remain in active service.

Oh yah, yah. I remember the founding of SNL like it was 39 years ago. I was a youthful writer for CBC Radio, and I thought to myself, you know what would be fun, if during the night on Saturday, and this was what was real revolutionary at the time, is what if there was, instead of just 24 hours of unbroken footage following one bear tribe as they learn and love, I thought what if we had a show, that had fun musical guests, and, you know, one or two sketches. I figured we could have interviews with actors and all that fun stuff, and if there was time, maybe a sketch or two, you know, if we couldn’t think of anything to do. So that lasted for about two shows, us being able to fill up the show with something other than sketches. And then, the next forty-plus years have just been an attempt to fill up time. And let me tell you, the third episode was where the show really began, where Chevy Chase officially became the star of nineteen seventy something or other. I don’t remember what year it was; I pay people to remember that for me.
