You people! You make a shrine of your own passions. You don't care a jot for what's right. And now do you see? How all are made to suffer because of a few selfish actions?
Darius Dalal, s2e09, summing up the entire plot of Indian Summers tbh

Indian Summers S2e08 - Family Drama, father and son edition
"You want your children to be happy, don't you?" "Of course, yes! But how can anyone be happy if we are all to be broken up? First you, and that Englishwoman. Now your sister has taken your lead." "I'm still here!" "Good. Good. Because you would kill your poor mother for sure."
Aafrin's plotting to run away with the married Englishwoman, abandoning his family and everything they stand for, and in this scene he's practically lying to his father. He's here for the next couple of hours and then he's off to Australia and will never see them, not his mother, his sisters, or his ailing father, ever again. It's no secret that I feel more for Darius, who deserves way better than his lot in life, than I have ever felt for Aafrin and his infatuation with Alice.

I thought I’d put these two screencaps together so we can all cry about the Dalals. You’re welcome.

"Always better to speak. Always."
This scene between Darius and Aafrin made me really emotional and part of it is because of this line from Darius. It really got me because it kind of shows where the Dalal kids got their outspokenness from - most of the time Darius is pretty quiet/non-confrontational/sits back and lets people do their own thing, but he'll speak up when it matters, when it's important, and I think that's really key in understanding Aafrin, but also understanding Sooni and Shamshad as well.
#indian summers#darius dalal#aafrin dalal#sooni dalal#shamshad dalal#idk if I explained this very well but it's a really important scene to me#so I wanted to make a post on it#also all of the dalal kids clearly adore their father#(you know he's probably going to die sometime within the show's run#and they're gonna be really upset and idk if I'm ready to deal with it)
