Legends of the humanoids
Reptilian humanoids (9)
Naga 2 – Shesha, the king of the serpents [Part 1]
The Brahma Purana describes the reign of Shesha as the king of the serpents in Patala:
During the night the light of the moon is not utilised for its coolness but only for illumination.
Since that passes away is not taken notice of by the Nāgas who enjoy with gaiety the foodstuffs and the edibles they consume and the great beverages they drink.
Nor are Danujas and others aware of it.
O brahmins, the forests, rivers, lakes, and lotus ponds, the cooing of the cuckoo and other sweet birds, the pleasing skies, the unguents and the continuous notes and sounds of musical instruments such as the lute, flute and Mṛdaṅga drums, O brahmins—all these and other beautiful things are enjoyed by virtue of their good luck by Dānavas, Daityas and Nāgas residing in Pātāla. The Tāmasī form of Viṣṇu, named Śeṣa (Shesga) beneath the lower regions.
Daityas and Dānavas are not capable of recounting his good qualities. He is honoured by Devas and celestial sages. He is spoken of as Ananta. He has a thousand hoods and he is clearly bedecked in Svastika ornaments devoid of impurities. He illuminates all quarters by thousand jewels on his hoods.

(Shut shut up appreciate my stupid Naruto Ocs)
Dark ninja’s love
{Third person POV}
Yaeko, The Mist assassin has snuck into the Hideout of a power man of the Yakuza Clan. Her stealth made it easy to sneak in but now she needs to find him.
Danuja Yakuza
Also known as Gou
he was mercilessly he had killed many innocent and criminals, you name it. He had a large hit on his head and Yaeko was going to take it.
Then see spotted him, Gou just praying silently. He was ….more attractive than she thought. She was told he was too muscular and Ape looking but no he had a pretty face and fluffy white hair. Yaeko shook her head pulling herself back to reality. She lands behind him so quietly you could hear a pin drop. Gou doesn’t even move but he chuckles softly.
“My, My my I was sent another assassin to kill I have been itching for a fight~”
His voice was cold and Strong cutting through the room like a Katana. “You’ll be the one Dying Gou” Yaeko said in a similarly cold tone as she pulled out her Swords ready to use them. Gou moved at the light of speed to where He had Yaeko in a body lock. “Now let’s see what your face looks like would-be Assassin” Gou cackled out as he pulled the black mask off Yaeko’s head.
“Oh …..I didn’t….realize you were a beautiful woman” Gou said in slight confusion. Yaeko rolled her eyes “oh and now you’re not going to fight me because you think I’m too attractive ugh you males are all the same” she said poison dripping off her words. “Hey I never said that~” Gou says in a more flirtatious but Dangerous tone as he plays with Her hair.
“Let’s dance I want to see what you’re made out of”
Yaeko smirks at his words feeling some respect for him now.
[timeskip to when the fight ends]
Both of the two skilled ninjas were breathing heavy. Sweat dripping off their bodies as they hold each other up looking each other with a mix of admiration, and almost Want. “I-I can’t kill you you’re too good” Yaeko says in a tired tone. Gou smiles “Sane here I can’t end your life either” His voice as tired but also buttery. They then stare at each other for while looking deeply in each other’s eyes.
…..and In the silence their lips connected aggressively full of lust and ….love? It was too early to say but it would definitely mean a long relationship together.
The end

So uh, news flash, I just remembered Warrior Cats exists and I felt like to do some artwork of my two main OCs that I had 4 years ago.
Tumblr media
**Name:** Shadestripe
**Gender:** She-Cat
**Age:** 38 moons
**Affiliation:** ShadowClan
**Rank:** Warrior
**Biography:** Shadestripe, first known as Kage, used to live as a kittypet with her sister, Danuja, and were both owned by Japanese Twolegs. After hearing rumors about the clan cats that live in the forest and wanting to join them, they both escape into the forest. They then run into ShadowClan warriors and join them as apprentices, with Kage now becoming Shadepaw and Danuja becoming Stripepaw. As time when on, it became clear to Shadepaw that her sister doesn’t believe in StarClan nor will follow clan code, and mocks Shadepaw and ShadowClan for believing in them. A battle ensues between the sisters, with the outcome of Shadepaw being the victor and Stripepaw being exiled out of ShadowClan. She was devastated, but Stripepaw reassured her that she will be fine living as a loner. Shadepaw then earns her Warrior name of Shadestripe, after her sister.
**Personality:** Shadestripe is calm, stoic, anti-social, and very reserved. She doesn’t speak to anyone unless it’s close friends, her sister, or clan members of importance and prefers quietness and alone time to herself. Her cat-speak isn’t very good as it’s her second language with the first being Japanese (or the cat-speak equivalent). But underneath the exterior is a caring heart that wishes everyone to live their best life, and will even defend her sister despite differing views.
Tumblr media
**Name:** Blister
**Gender:** She-Cat
**Age:** 36 moons
**Affiliation:** Loner (technically BloodClan/BurnClan)
**Biography:** Blister, first known as Danuja used to live as a kittypet with her sister, Kage, and were both owned by Japanese Twolegs. After hearing rumors about the clan cats that live in the forest and wanting to join them, they both escape into the forest. They then run into ShadowClan warriors and join them as apprentices, with Danuja becoming Stripepaw and Kage becoming Shadepaw. As time when on, Stripepaw believed that StarClan was just some idiotic myth and the Clan code was just a burden to all clan cats, which angered her Shadepaw. A battle ensues between the sisters, with the outcome of Shadepaw being the victor and Stripepaw being exiled out of ShadowClan. She was now a loner, but she felt confident that she could survive in the forest thanks to the training from ShadowClan. After learning about BloodClan and joining them, Stripepaw, now Blister, plans to overthrow their leader and transform BloodClan into her own clan, BurnClan
**Personality:** Blister is a cocky, outward, rebellious, feral, and snarky she-cat. She believes that the cats that believe in StarClan and greedy and delusional, and mock them for “talking to the sky.” She also doesn’t like following rules and will purposely break them for her own amusement. That being said, she also secretly feels bad for any loners or outcasts that are going through the same hardships as her and will sometimes share her prey for those who need it the most.

I’d Kill Him
Tumblr media
“I’d Kill Him Before I Let Him Hurt You.”
Kieko sat on her bed holding her knees to her chest.
Her mother was a drunken mess. She could hear her laughing loudly in the living room downstairs, watching some sitcom, while she sat there and wished she could run away… but anywhere she would go, Danuja would find her and hurt her, or worse.
‘Shuji I wish I could run to you, or away with you,’ she sighed to herself, tears running down her pale face. Her black eye hadn’t healed yet. She had tried her best to cover it with makeup… but little did that do.
Keiko heard a loud crash in the living room and dread and fear instantly hit her body. — Great, that meant he was home.
Something knocked at her window and she scurried to open the curtains. Shuji Hanma stood outside her window on the terrace. She could punch him in the face as his yellow eyes stared back at her, a big stupid smile greeting her. With a huff, Keiko opened the window to let him in.
He crawled through the window, falling on his face with a loud thud. Jumping up quickly, straightening his Valhalla jacket and signature earring, he towered over her with his lanky form.
“Shuji, are you insane?” she questioned, running to lock her bedroom door.
“Easy Doll, I told you I would be back.” He continued to smile at her.
“I know what you said, and told you not to. You know that he’ll kill you if you come back here,” she whispered, shoving him in the chest.
That little shove did nothing to him. He thought it was cute though. Hanma didn't know why he liked being around her, she was a snobby girl who always had a shitty attitude and looked down on everyone, but that day he saw her outside at the park sitting on a bench crying he was drawn in.
He’d walked up to her with a cigarette in hand and asked her if she wanted to go see a movie to take her mind off whatever was bothering her. He remembered the way she looked. Her blonde hair, in a messy bun, and her green eyes, puffy eyes from crying. She’d looked up at him with a lovely smile and from then she had hooked him.
Now, he cupped her cheek with his large tattooed hand that said ‘Punishment' and pushed some blonde stray hairs out her face only to see her partially healed black eye.
Keiko could see the anger spark in his eyes. “Shuji, it's nothing. I am fine. It happened a few days ago. Please let it go.” she begged, grabbing his shirt.
“Let me guess. Your mom stood by and did nothing while he hit you?” he growled.
Keiko did not respond. Her mother was a drunken mess most days. THe woman never knew what was going on.
“Keiko, we are leaving this fuck hole, right now!” He started moving around her and opened her dresser drawer, pulling clothes out and putting them in her book bag.
“Shuji, what are you doing? I can’t leave, you know that. It's not how it works,” she sighed, grabbing the clothes out the bag. “Keiko!” They heard Danuja scream from downstairs.
“Shuji, please go! I don't want him to hurt you,” she whined, turning to push him towards the window.
“Fuck that Keiko! I am not going to let this slime keep hurting you, and I will be damned if I let him pimp you out like your mother.” He glared down at her. Shuji was tired of this, if her own mother wouldn't protect her he would.
Shuji walked up to her, pulling her in close, wrapping her in a strong hug. “Keiko, I'd kill him before I Let him hurt you again,” he whispered into her ear.
Before she could respond her door was kicked in and Danuja, a tall sloppy man with greasy black hair, came inside. Shuji put her behind his back.
“I thought I told you, Keiko, if this punk showed up again I’d kill him and your mother,” he slurred.
Keiko’s body shook from fear, too terrified to even move. She gripped the back of Shuji’s shirt, putting her head against him.
“Fuck off duchebag. You don't have the balls to kill me,” Shuji laughed, giving him the finger.
Danuja raised a bottle to his lips and drank with large gulps. “I am going to enjoy making you watch me break this kid's neck.” He laughed back wildly, moving closer to them in the room.
Behind him, Keiko’s mother appeared with a fire in her blue eyes and a vase in her hands. She smashed it over Danuja’s head, shattering it and knocking him out.
She stood over his body, in tatters. Her mother’s blue nightgown torn, her nose bleeding, and her lips swollen as she spit out the blood from her mouth onto his body. “Bastard!”
Satisfied, she turned to look at her daughter. “You need to go and never come back here, Sweet Pea." She moved around Danuja’s unconscious body and walked towards her daughter, picking up the bag from the floor and putting more clothes in it.
“Mama, what did you do?” Keiko sobbed, moving from behind Shuji.
“I did what I had to keep you safe.” Her mother continued to pack and Shuji went over to help her.
“Will you both stop packing and listen to me!” Keiko shouted. They both turned to look at her as she panted heavily, struggling to breathe.
“Keiko honey, why do you think Hanma is here? I told him to come and take you away. I can’t keep you safe, but I can get you away from this monster.” She told her, stroking her hair.
Shuji looked over at the two not knowing what her mother was talking about. He came here of his own free will, but he would let her have this moment. “Keiko, we got to go. He is going to wake up.” Shuji whispered, pointing to Danuja before leaving to take her things outside and give them privacy.
“He’s right. You have to get out of here.” Her mother hugged her tightly.
“Mom, come with me. Please.” Keiko begged, holding on to her mother.
“I can’t leave. Sweet pea. I have to be here.” She smiled and kissed her on the forehead before pushing her out the door.
Hanma waited out front with his bike. He tossed his long leg over and revved it when he spotted her.
“For safety, Babe,” he smiled at her and handed her a helmet.
Keiko rolled her eyes and hopped on the bike, wrapping her hands around his waist.
“Take her to her brother. His father will keep her safe,” her mother stated from the doorway.
Hanman shook his head in agreement and pulled off.
“I don't want to go there, Shuji.” she yelled over the traffic.
“I know, Doll. The last thing I wanna do is to explain to Kisaki that I’ve been hooking up with his sister,” he yelled back.
Hanma already knew he was taking her home, to his home at least.
- To be continued.

The Endlessness of Time
A tribute to M. D. Ramanathan
by
Ramanathan N. Iyer
M. D. Ramanathan, perhaps the most unique maestro amongst all the giants of 20th century Carnatic music, has been written about and feted quite a bit, especially in this centenary year that another attempt might seem rather superfluous. But MDR, to me, remains the benchmark for two aspects - 1) the effective conveyance of emotion through voice alone and 2) the utilization of time as an infinite resource!
He is the arresting figure - physically as well as musically - that as an eight-year-old, I first set my eyes on at the Navaratri Mandapam in Thiruvananthapuram. As he emerged in full six-foot plus glory after a memorable concert along with Palakkad Mani Iyer, the awe-inducing percussion genius, the first impression was so vivid because the imposing physical stature matched my mental picture when I first heard that booming voice on radio, singing a Tamizh composition whose lyrics were something that even a child could connect with. It described the duality of Vishnu & Shiva (Hari and Haran) in such simple language and was sung in a way that I, that listening child, could vividly imagine the serpent coiled around Shiva's neck and on whom Vishnu lay in repose. If someone could do abhinayam - enactment - with voice alone and convey a powerful message, this was it. And that Athana remains the benchmark of instant, indelible raga identity.
That fascination evolved into years of listening to his music with a rapt attention that he commanded rather than demanded. Each time the takeaway is how he disproves the popular notion that time is a scarce resource. In a world that's always in a tearing hurry, how did he alone make leisurely pauses even in the middle of an alapana or neraval or swaraprastara to let the mood sink in, to let us absorb the raga swarupa... ? How did he manage to untie and adjust his tuft with a naughty smile mid-lyric, yet maintain the kalapramanam (tempo) and resume without batting an eyelid? Where a restless human mind craves continuous input to keep it occupied, how did he engage us with the beauty of silence? In the Bhairavi swarajati, he conveys the stately gait of the elephant in madamatta gajagama padmabhava hari shambhunutapada; and describes vividly the lion and the intoxicated tusker in mada danuja vaarana mrugendrarcchita all while maintaining the tempo with just the inflections in the voice! Who else can describe to us in such detail the scene of the coronation in Mamava Pattabhirama with all its pageantry and a long list of nobles flanking the throne? Or that utterly delectable neraval at nIla nIrada sarIra, in Balagopala Palaya where Krishna's detail is conveyed exactly as Muttuswami Dikshitar would have visualized him while composing.
MDR also stands out, of course, for peerless enunciation of slokam and vrttam. The most remarkable one I have heard is surely ratnakarosti sadanam which he has wonderfully detailed in Todi. This lyric which describes the ocean full of diamonds as the Lord's residence with Lakshmi occupying pride of place and Radha occupying His mindspace is the work of Abdul Rahim Khan-i-Khanan, a military general in Akbar's army who was also a Persian & Samskrtam scholar! The recording of MDR singing this followed by a delightful explanation in his unique accent is something that has invariably left me in tears.
I had the fortune of playing a small part in preserving his rich legacy. It started out as a chance encounter over an Internet discussion forum where a friend tipped me off that the person with a cryptic login name who had posted recently about MDR might actually be Balaji, the legend's son. On an impulse I shot off an e-mail, enquiring bluntly whether that was true and asking if he had any recordings of my icon. My sole aim in life at that point of time was the enhancement of my personal music collection, especially hard-to-find nuggets of old masters. Balaji promptly and courteously responded, and since then we were in touch off and on, mostly through e-mail. That culminated with my entering the portals of #91, Ponniamman Koil Street, Adyar to be warmly and hospitably welcomed by Visalam mami, the simple and unassuming wife of the maestro. Armed with a scanner, laptop and a consent from Balaji, my aim was the digital archiving of the compositions of MDR, notated and neatly recorded in his own handwriting.
The "Compositions of Varadadasa", mostly in Telugu and Sanskrit (and a few in Tamil & Malayalam) were written down by MDR in three slim notebooks. It so happens that soon after MDR passed away in April 1984, while the family was still grief-stricken and in turmoil, someone from Kalakshetra - the institution where MDR spent a lifetime - took away the notebooks. They presumably landed up in someone's attic or in a dusty corner of the Kalakshetra library and had been lost for years. Visalam mami and Balaji had been trying very hard over the past few years to retrieve these priceless treasures, knocking on many doors and trying various sources in Kalakshetra itself. Balaji being in the US, it was even more difficult to follow up on those efforts, but as he himself said in one of his e-mails to me, "I am sure with his (MDR's) blessings, I should be able to get most of them in the near future". That hope became reality, for the manuscripts were retrieved with help from Sri. Rajaram, the ex-principal of Kalakshetra. It turns out that the notebooks were languishing in some forgotten corner of a library! The digitized pages are now archived and available on demand from Balaji to any interested music scholar, student or rasika.
On that first visit to MDR's house, Visalam mami offered me aval - hand-pounded rice flakes mixed wiith coconut and jaggery. I had it in the presence of his tambura, seeing him smile benevolently down at me from the picture on the wall. It was a metaphor for his music - simple with just three ingredients but deceptively complex in flavour, depth and pure emotion. I experienced at that moment, what Sudama felt receiving the fistful of aval in Krishna's palace!

Haunted Grave.
Whether curiosity leads the memories of the dim sky, falling deep in passion to crafting over the gracious desire is a must. The memoireé embraced the halls of pleasure. To rejoice and seek for its history. There is a perplexing room between one collided and sneaky home.
Harish Danuja Yudisthira. The hell where freedom and spacious comfort go. Slept soundly through the lonesome dark to convert all the sounds of evermore unrest.
