I'm thrilled to finally issue my thoughts on one of my Top 25 and one of my first favourite films, La Bamba (1987). Great music and great visuals, sure, but this film is all about one man - Esai Morales. The performance he gives is one for the ages and it may be my favourite. Ever.

I’ve hated Michael J. Fox, Matthew Broderick and Eric Stoltz as Peter. There are so many people who looks like Peter Parker and Matt Dillon is one of them. He looks exactly like Ron Frenz Peter, Brooke Shields looks like Romita Sr MJ and Keith Gordon would make a perfect Harry Osborn especially with his performance in Christine with the character known as Arnie Cunningham.

Recommendation of the week: Living In Oblivion (1995)
Dir.: Tom DiCillo
Cast.: Steve Buscemi, Catherine Keener, Dermot Mulroney, Danielle von Zerneck, James Legros.
Genre: Comedy
Plot: Independent film director Nick Reve is making his first feature. Everything that can go wrong does: the rebellious catering crew refuses to replace spoiled milk, his actors are flaky and getting an unspoiled take is nearly impossible.
Filmphilics score: 7'5/10

Michael Harlan (John Stockwell) has procrastinated on his science project until the last minute, and his teacher (Dennis Hopper) issues him an ultimatum: turn in a science project or flunk.
