Albert Fish:
Who exactly is Albert Fish? What made him famous? How many victims did he murder? How did Albert Fish die? Albert Hamilton Fish (May 19, 1870 – January 16, 1936) was an American sado-masochistic serial killer and cannibal. He was also known as the Gray Man, the Werewolf of Wysteria and possibly the Brooklyn Vampire. AKA Albert Fish, Laura Fish, Nepe Fish, Birthday May 19, 1870, Birthplace Washington DC, District of Columbia, United States, Death January 16, 1936, Manner of Death Capital Punishment, Nationality United States Of America, Occupations Prostitute, Serial Killer, Great Person, Male Prostitution, Religion Rejecting The Blood. “Misery leads to crime. I saw so many boys whipped it ruined my mind.”— Albert Fish.
He was delighted that he had "kids in all nations," which places his number near 100, although the question of violence or cannibalization is not obvious, much less as to whether it was real or not. In at least five killings for his career he was a witness. Fisch agreed to three killings and confessed to at least two other individuals attacking investigators might track a suspected crime. He was tried and convicted and hanged by electric chair for abduction and the death of Grace Budd.
Albert Fish’s Early Life:
He was born to Randall Fish (1795-1875) as Hamilton Fish in Washington, D.C. He said he was named after a distant relative, Hamilton Fish. His grandfather was 43 years older than his brother. It had three live siblings: Walter, Joyce, and Edwin Fish. Fish was the youngest child and he was three. After a deceased brother he wanted to be called "Albert," and to avoid the moniker of "Ham and Eggs," provided him in an orphanage where he spent many years in the beginning. Mental illness was suffered by many of his family members and theological mania was felt. His father was a sailor on the river boat, but he was a producer of fertilizers by 1870. The first Fish died in the 1875 Washington, DC, of a heart attack at the Sixth Street Station of the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was hit and kicked regularly, and finally discovered that he was suffering from physical pain. Often the beatings brought him houses that the other children told him about.
His mother was able to look after him and have a government job by 1879. He had however been influenced by his different experiences before this. He began a gay relationship with a telegraph-boy in 1882, when he was 12. Fish also heard about drinking urine and coprophagies in young people. Fish liked to frequent public baths and watch kids get ready and he spent much of his weekends watching them. In 1890, Fish had come to New York City and said he had become a male harlot. He claimed he began raping young boys, even after his mother had negotiated a marriage, a crime that he proceeded to commit. He married his wife in 1898 with a junior aged nine years. The dad: Albert, Mary, Gertrude, Eugene, Charles, and Henry Fish. They had six babies. He was charged on the basis of misappropriation and sentenced to 1903 in Sing jail. He had sex with men frequently during his incarceration. “I have no particular desire to live. I have no particular desire to be killed. It is a matter of indifference to me. I do not think I am altogether right.”— Albert Fish
He served as a house painter in 1898 and said that he kept angry babies, boys mostly under the age of six. Further on, he recalled an instance where a male friend took him to a waxworks museum where Fish became intrigued by a penis bisection, and shortly afterwards he was paranoid regarding castration. Fish tried to castrate him after linking him during a friendship with a mentally disabled man. The guy became terrified and ran. Fish then increased his trips to brothels to taunt and abuse him more often. His wife left him in January 1917 for a handyman, John Straube, who rented the Fish home. Despite this rejection, Fish started hearing voices; for instance, once he was wrapped up in a tapestry and clarified why he followed John the Apostle's orders.
Early attacks and attempted abductions:
It was Fish which perpetrated his first assault in Wilmington, Delaware in 1910 on a child named Thomas Bedden. He eventually murdered a child mentally disabled in Arlington, Washington, D.C., in 1919. Many of his perpetrators would frequently be either mentally impaired or American as they would not be overlooked, he claimed. On 11 July 1924 Fish discovered Beatrice Kiel, eight years of age, playing alone on the Staten Island estate of her father. He gave her money in the neighboring fields to help him hunt the rhubarb. As her mother scared Fish away, she was about to leave the farm. Fish fled but then returned back to the barn of Kiels, where, before Hans Kiel found him, he wanted to sleep and told him to leave.
Previous incarceration:
Fish met "Estella Wilcox," and lived a week in Waterloo, New York, on February 6, 1930. He was held at Bellevue psychiatric hospital between 1930 and 1931 for evaluation, and he was released in May 1930 "because he sent an indecent letter to an African American woman who replied a maid's advertising."
Fish Targets the Handicapped:
Around 1919, Albert Fish started attacking young men who, because he thought that these individuals would be ignored, were intellectually or African American. Fish liked to bribe kids to help him trap other kids so that he could torture and kill them. The proof has been confirmed in any of these murders. Upon his final conviction, Albert Fish made a number of statements. Even if there was no proof, he listed Albert Fish's victims in hundreds. In 1924, Albert Fish developed total insanity. He actually believed, although he has been tested several times by psychologists, that God was ordering him to torture and kill them. In July of that year, Fish met teenage Beatrice Kiel on the estate of her father alone. Her mother heard Fish chuckle and scare him from protecting the 8-year-old girl's life. Fish went back to the farm in Kiel later that night and slept in the stable. Hans Kiel, young Beatrice's parent, spotted him and quickly pursued him. The next move of Albert Fish was targeted at a young boy Cyril Quinn he had annoyed. To draw them into his den, Fish gave the boys lunch. The boys wrested on Fish's pillow, while waiting for sandwiches. Fish's "death weapons" and hammer, handsaw and cleaver were overthrown by the mattress. The boys have run from the house in panic. Again, Fish missed his job of killing and eating a boy. It took Fish up a bit of his playing.
 Albert Fish’s Victims:
Francis McDonnel- Francis, age 8, was murdered on July 14, 1924. He had been raped and strangled to death, Emma Richardson- Emma, age 5, was murdered on October 3, 1926, Billy Gaffney- Billy, age 4, was murdered on February 12, 1927. Fish confessed to torturing Billy by whipping him, cutting off his ears and nose and then gouging out his eyes. After Billy was murdered, Fish took home pieces of his body and ate them over the course of 4 days, Grace Budd- Grace, age 10, was murdered on June 3, 1928. Fish confessed to murdering her and then eating her whole body over the course of 9 days, Emil Aalling - Emil, age 4, was murdered on July 13, 1930, Robin Jane Liu- Robin, age 6, was murdered on may 2, 1931, Yetta Abramowitz- Yetta, age 12, was murdered in 1927. Fish was suspected to have murdered Yetta, Mary Ellen O’Connor- Mary, age 16, was murdered on February 15, 1932. Fish was suspected to have murdered Mary, Benjamin Collings- Benjamin, age 17, was murdered on December 15, 1932. Fish was suspected to have murdered Benjamin. “I always had a desire to inflict pain on others and to have others inflict pain on me. I always seemed to enjoy everything that hurt.”- Albert Fish, "What a thrill that will be if I have to die in the electric chair. It will be the supreme thrill. The only one I haven't tried."- Albert Fish.
 Trial and Execution:
It is not shocking that Fish is regarded as "the worst child killer in criminal history." The Grace Budd assassination court lasted eleven days. Cod has been found guilty and finally electrically disabled. Fish was said to have helped the boy place electrodes on his leg. There have been reports that the needles implanted by Fish into its body have created a short electric circuit, so it requires twice the normal electricity strikes to complete the job. Since then, these arguments have been dismissed. His lawyer claimed after Fish was killed that he had no words from Fish, just handwritten documents. "Information will never be shown to anyone. The prosecutor refused to read them. It was I have ever seen the filthiest list of obscenities. Until the end of his life, Fish had been a vile human being.
Albert Fish will tend to be one of the greatest abusers of girls in America. Few serial killers, particularly against children, have accomplished the cruelty he is renowned for. It needs to be seen whether Albert Fish was a serial killer at the orphanage. One has to ask if someone so evil as Fish was raised as an assassin or could his conditions transform him into a bad person. Like most serial killers, it's become a little bit of nature and nourishment. While he claims to also have killed thousands of children,' one in every state,' he was only ever found to have killed three. The three killings were so horrific that they solidified Fish's place in history as the worst child killer in all of American history.

cost of friendship ~ daniel seavey
requested: yes
Hey! Could you do an imagine about Daniel and Y/N dating but they keep it a secret because they don't want to ruin Y/N's friendship with the other guys? Thanks love!
summary: y/n goes to hang out at the wdw household during the storm and in the midst of a power outage, daniel and y/n reach a new level of their relationship.
warning(s): cursing, i also changed it a little bit sorry

Storm clouds flew low above my head and the wind was strong enough to push my hair into my face and make my eyes water. I pushed against it and try my best to make it up the street to the house without looking like a complete disaster. The air wasn’t cool, either, though. The humidity made the day even more miserable and the growling storms didn’t leave me with much time to make it into the house.
Just as I stepped onto the front porch, the front door opened and quickly I hurried inside, a loud clap of thunder striking and sending me shrieking as I stumble into Daniel’s arms. My friend laughs, helping me stand up straight as it takes more arm strength than normal for him to push the door closed.
“Made it just in time, I guess,” He commented about my brief introduction to the storm upon my entrance to the house.
I can’t help but smile at his comments, “Thankfully, you were there to get me in before I was struck by lightning.”
The rain began to pour down onto the house, causing loud clattering noises that made us all start talking a little bit louder.
Daniel walked me into the large house shared by the five member band, “The pizza guy came like five minutes ago and I tried to get them to wait for you, but no one listens to me anymore.”
“You guys didn’t have to wait,” I tell him, throwing my bag down on the countertop in its usual spot, “It’s not like I expect anything less of you. Except for you, Dani. The only person in this house who cares about me.”
“Does anyone hear a fly?” Corbyn comments, looking away from me as I take the seat next to him. Jack sat to my right, the aforementioned member to my left, and my closest friend, Daniel across from me. The other two boys were scattered around Daniel.
I gave Corbyn a playful punch, which only fueled them up some more. Jack started to add to the situation, “No, no. Wait it’s too high pitch to be a fly. Maybe it’s a mouse.”
“A tiny mouse,” Corbyn continues, “With absolutely no arm strength.”
“Oh wow, fuck you all.” I pull a slice of pizza onto my plate. I make eye contact with Daniel as the other boys continue with their teasing. We both sent each other playful eye rolls and went back to eating our pizza and listening to my close friends torture me.
“Hey! Maybe we can watch Stuart Little and get the mouse to come out so we can get it outside.” Zach suggests tonight’s first movie option.
“We can’t put the mouse outside; The storm is a lot worse than they suspected. If we put it outside, it might get hurt,” Daniel decided and I’m not sure if this is the more logical answer, or not.
“I thought you were on my side!!” I looked at Daniel, whose face dropped and then he looked at me, quickly making up for it.
“N-no, of course i am! i’m just saying, if there were a hypothetical mouse, then we couldn’t put outside because it would get hurt.” He responds and I laugh at the hypothetical mouse.
“Yes, Daniel. I suppose that is true. We couldn’t put the hypothetical mouse outside in the storm. It’d be cruel,” I go along with what he was saying. As long as he isn’t going to mess around with me like I know that all of the other guys will do.
The boys lost their little joke when Jonah asked me a question about school. A loud chorus of ‘jONAH’s came across the room, as well as some frustrated grunts. They could try to come back from it, but as soon as one of them recognizes me, then the whole gig is over.
“We’re not watching Enchanted again,” Zach looks from across the couch as we all brainstorm movie ideas.
“that was a fucking cute movie, don’t even with me zachary dean,” I scold, “One of the best movies every created. I’ll say it. Plus, Patrick Dempsey.”
“It’s a princess movie,” Jack added, “I see enough of those when I go home, I don’t need to see them here too.”
“Alright, you guys are so picky about your movie choices. It’s literally a perfect movie so stop attacking it,” I retort and Jack laughs.
“What are we watching, then? Since it’s already 8, and if y/n is getting home safely tonight, she should probably start watching soon,” Daniel states. He is usually the more logical one in situations like these, especially when it comes to safety. He’s always been such a teddy bear and when he gets someone to recognize him for who is really is, that person is going to be the luckiest person in the world.
“You know what I haven’t seen in a while? Spider-man Homecoming with my man, Tom.” I admit and Zach rolls his eyes at me.
“When was the last time you watched it? This morning?” He played; all of the boys understood my love for the marvel movies, especially the very handsome new spider-man.
“Last week, but good try,” I look at him, “But I do own it on my amazon account.”
“Which means it’s a free movie that I haven’t seen,” Daniel adds, “Ok, I’m down to watch it. Everyone agrees?”
“yeah, whatever,” Jonah agrees.
“How has she forced me to watch it and not you??”Jack looked at Daniel in shock, “You guys are inseparable and yet, i’ve seen the movie?”
Daniel and I look at each other and he has a slight rosy color on his cheeks, and i know i do too. I turn back to jack after a second, “Daniel wasn’t home when we watched it.”
The six of us take our seats on the couch. Zach sat on the big chair, while Corbyn and Jonah sat on the first couch. Jack sat on one end of the second couch, and daniel and i sat in the corner of the other one. The lights were already turned off and I set up the movie, excited.
I practically drooled at the site of Tom Holland throwing his shirt off during the specific part of the movie. My eyes watched as he threw off the spider-man suit and then turned around, following each of the steps that i’d memorized from watching the movie so often.
Just as he turned around to face Ned, the television turned off, as did any remaining lights in the house. I gripped onto the blanket a little bit harder and Zach let out a screech.
Everything paused for a second, until Daniel turned on the flashlight on his phone and quickly mumbled, “fuck.. i think we lost power because of the storm.”
“and we’d just gotten to the good part,” i tease and i could almost see daniel playfully roll his eyes in the dim light.
“Well is it coming back on?” Zach asked.
“Probably not for a while,” Jonah tells him, “if we lost power, that means most of los angeles has lost power and we’re not gonna get it back until the morning, at least.”
“Don’t we have a generator?” Jack questions, trying to figure this uncommon situation out.
“Yes, but unless you want to go into the garage during this storm, it’s not going to work,” Corbyn states before standing up, “I’m going to bed.”
“It’s only like eight thirty?” Daniel says, staying put next to me. The other boys begin to move like corbyn.
“Is there anything better to do?”
“we could all hang out, yaknow?” He suggests, but they all start to pick up their shit.
“In the dark?” Zach questions before moving towards the stairs. Just before he steps up, he turns around looking at me, “See you later, y/n. Safe trip home.”
the others start to leave daniel and i alone and i mumble to myself, “fuck. how am i gonna get home?”
“Well you’re not going home in the storm,” Dani shares his thoughts and I stare at him through the dark.
“I don’t want to be a nuisance, dani,” i tell him and he shakes his head.
“Y/n, your apartment probably doesn’t have power either and driving home in the storm risks too many things. We have extra blankets and places to sleep, so just wait the storm out, okay?” He told me and I sigh, giving in to my favorite person, “You can stay in my room, since everyone else seems to have wandered off.”
“Thanks, daniel. I don’t know what I’d do without you,” I admit, sending a friendly smile his way.
“Of course, y/n. Only the best for you,” There is a moment of sympathetic silence before Daniel stands up, “I’m pretty sure there are some candles around here, do you want to help me look for someone so we can actually see each other?”
“yea, let’s do it,” The two of stand up and turn the flashlights on our phones on. We begin to wander around the house, searching in different rooms together until we could find a couple candles. It took around ten minutes before we found ourselves back in the living room with three candles and a lighter.
Daniel set them on the table in front of the couch and lit them as I sat back on the cushioned seat.
“What a great day for a storm,” He says, “But at least you’re here with us, rather than home alone. I don’t know how I’d feel if you were home alone. I mean, what if something happened to you?”
“Yeah, I guess it’s better to be here than by myself at home,” I tell him, “Thanks for caring about me so much, Daniel. I’ve never had a friend quite as good as you and I don’t know if it’s a connection between us or that I’ve just had really shitty friends my whole life and then you have shown me in every way that you’re not like that, but having you as a friend makes me really happy. You are one of the sweetest guys I know, and you deserve someone who can make you as happy as you make me.”
“You make me so happy, y/n,” he says, “our friendship, or whatever. i don’t know, but you’re such a fun person to be around and i love you for it.”
there was a brief second where i caught a sparkle in his light blue eyes. until then, i was looking for a sign. any sign. and then the sparkle rolled gently over his eye and within seconds, i pushed my face against his and let our two sets of lips touch.
he’s predictably surprised by this sudden motion, but takes a second before placing his warm and gentle hand on my cheek and kissing me back. as the seconds go on, i smile into the kiss and the two of us separate.
“i take it you got the hint,”  he smiles like a child given candy.
“we’re probably going to regret that after tonight, but i’m glad i did it.”
“why would we regret that?” he looks confused.
“because you’re my best friend and so are the other guys. maybe you won’t regret it, but if something happens between the two of us, i don’t want to affect our friendship or any of my friendships with you all.”
“that’s the last thing i’d want for you y/n. i know how much you mean to the guys and i, i wouldn’t want to do anything to ruin that.”
“you didn’t do it; i did.”
“yeah, but at the cost of friendship, y/n. was it worth that?”
“i wish i could say kissing you wasn’t worth losing a few friends, but as much as you guys mean to me, i think that kissing you is something i would do again if put in this situation.”
“i really like you, y/n. a lot. you make me feel alive again, like how music makes me feel, and that means so much to me. but your friendships. that’s something that no guy should be worth risking.”
“and yet you are,” i give him a small smile, “and i think i want to make this work.”
he smiles back, “i do too, y/n. and if we’re gonna do this, we need to set some rules.”
“we can’t tell the guys,” i state, letting out a deep breath and waiting to hear his response.

Jacked
[First supernatural fanfic I have ever written. EVER.]
WARNINGS: Swearing, Violence (duh *rolls my eyes*), Drinking, Fluff.
It was a rainy Saturday afternoon for the young family that lived in the blue and white two story house on the end of the street. They were the Daniels, Willis and Brenda were cooking in the kitchen, casually talking to one another. Their children Jackline and Thomas were in their room. Jackline was playing with her dolls and Tom was watching cartoons. Jackline made her way downstairs to the kitchen. As she walked in she heard her parents bickering. This wasn’t new they bickered all the time here lately it had been over a man, the man who always wore black, Jackline had seen him only once, and it was enough to haunt her nightmares. As she walked in there was a loud knock on the front door. Her mother walked out of the kitchen to get the door, Jackline walked over to her dad. “Whatcha doin’?” he smiled down at her and was about to reply when her mother’s screams cut him off. Willis Daniels shovedhis daughter into his bedroom. “Hide in the closet, don’t open this door for anybody. You got that?” her father asked as Jackline nodded her head stunned by the passing events. What happened next is etched into Jackline’s memory. As she hid in her father’s closet she heard the horrified screams of her twin brother. She could hear the evil laughter as the thing crept towards the closet. The man in all black jerked the door open and saw the frightened little girl. He took great pleasure in carving into her back, and making three long scratches across her chest. Jackline was in shock she saw that the creature had sharp shark like teeth. Jackline screamed again, as the creature tried to bite her. Tom ran to where he heard Jackline’s screams. He saw that a man in black was hurting his twin, “leave her alone!” the five year old grabbed a vase and threw it at him and that’s when Jackline lost consciousness. She woke up hours later in a hospital room covered in bandages, a strange man was at her side. “The doctors said you wouldn’t be awake for another six hours.” he said. Jackline scooted away from him looking like an animal in a trap. “Who are you?” she asked as the man smiled kindly at her. “Someone who is gonna help you get stronger.” 17 years later… I was at the bar. I needed intell and some whiskey, and what better way to fulfill my list than to get my intell from some loose lip drunks. So here I was asking around. I was looking for any and all information about a string of recent attacks where the vic’s throats were torn out and the were completely drained of blood. I found bits and peicesof information and wrote them down. I sat now at the counter shooting whiskey. A man sits himself beside me and says, “I’ll have what she’s having.” I looked at him. He was tall, taller than me at least, with hazel green eyes and stubble, his jaw was strong and the look in his eye was slightly intimidating. “Ain’t that a little strong for a girl like you?” he said in a rough voice. I totally ignored his question and asked one of my own. “What brings a guy like you to town?” “Hunting trip.” I cocked an eyebrow. I habit of mine that happened when my interest was peaked. I could possibly be talking to a fellow hunter. “What are you hunting.” I said patting my iron buck knife I wore in thigh sheath. The confused look on his face vanished. The bar tender started to stare at us. I put my hand inconspicuously near my mouth to cover me mouthing, ‘Deer.’ he caught it and said “Deer.” this attractive stranger better not be honing in on my hunt. I saw eyes on me, from across the room a man about my age with shoulder length brown hair and that’s when it hit me. “You must be Dean, I just so happen to be your guide. Come with me. my name is Jackline Daniels. Call me Jack.” I said slipping off that bar stool. I motioned for them both to follow me. At least I hoped it was them.I walked out of the bar with them behind me. When we were away far away I turned to them. “Okay what really brings you two here?” I said when the both crossed their arms. “How do you know our names?” Sam asked defensively. “Easy Winchesters. Word travels in the hunter community. I’m not that far out of loop.” Dean was watching me with suspicion. “What is your real name?” Dean asked leaning against a tree. “I already told you. Jackline Daniels.” “you’re serious?” I narrowed my eyes at Dean. “As a heart attack. You haven’t given me a reason yet.” I flashed him a smirk. I took my jacket off, I was still hot from the pub. You could just see the tip of a scar on my chest. “What are you doing here?” I asked. “Why do you want to know?” “because I’m also on a hunt. A local man was found with his throat was ripped out. Completely dry, sounds like a vamp. I was able to get a description and a general area where they’ve seen it.“ I said. Showing Sam the notes I took when Dean took the note pad from me and said, “well thanks sweetheart you’re too kind. Now why don’t you go home and bake some cookies while the big kids handle this.” my eyebrow arched again. “I am no one’s sweetheart, and I’m twenty two! I’m also an experienced hunter. I’m going to take down that vamp with or without you. Oh yeah, and I like pie better.” I said yanking my notepad from his grasp and walking away to my car. It was a 1970 dodge charger, I called it Gray. This car was more important than I was. I started her up and drove off listening to ‘More than a feeling’ by Boston. Dean Winchester. I was a fool to think I could work with the celebrity of the hunter community. Everyone had an opinion about although most weren’t favorable. I always wanted to work with them. I should have listened to them when they said he was an ass. ‘But damn he made up for it with his looks.’ I shook my head. He was competition. He was standing in my way. I parked in my drive way. But already I knew something was wrong. I turn all of the lights off before leaving. Always. And yet the lamp in my study on the second floor was on. I went to Gray. I popped her trunk and Grabbed the tree pruners that I kept in the back for emergencies. I kicked me door it swing wide open. “Alright you undead fangbanger come at me!” I shouted I wish I had dead man’s blood, but this’ll do. I stepped through the door, “where you at? Are you scared of a little girl holding tree pruners?” I jeered. I felt a presence behind me, I turned around throwing my knife at something in the darkness. I heard it curse. "What the hell? Jackline? ” it was Dean. I glared at him as I yanked my knife out of his jacket that was pinned to the wall. “What the hell are you doing here?” I growled. “Inspecting.” “get out of my house.” I said with anger. He was intruding in my house and molesting my hunt. Sam came in and I didn’t have time to keep yelling because the creature came out of the shadows. “Hello Jackline.” it purred and I froze, this was the voice from my nightmares, he was here. I turned around. “Oh. Don’t look like that, it is a reunion after all.” he said. I was immobilized paralyzed like I was glued to the floor. “Jack? Jack? Jackline?” I was frozen with fear, I never froze during a hunt, but this was different. This thing almost killed me, tortured me till the point of near consciousness. He was the reason I couldn’t wear v necks or halter tops. He ruined my life. I gripped my knife, trying to move Sam and Dean took him down, all I could do was stare, shaken. Dean yanked the pruners from my hand and cut his head off just like that. I dropped to my knees having tunnel vision. Dean was shaking me saying my name but I couldn’t hear him, I felt something warm slide over my shoulders as my hearing returned. “Jackline?” Sam asked I looked at him with ashamed eyes. “He killed my family. That sorry rat bastard marked me up and killed my mom, my dad and my brother.” I said clearing my throat. “I-I usually don’t freeze up like that, I could’ve. No I should’ve helped you take him down.” Sam comforted me. Dean was no where to be seen, “Sam. That thing took my brother.” I said. They left but not before I did something sneaky. I slipped a piece of paper with my number on it in deans jacket that was around my shoulders. Watching him take down the vamp, now that I realised it was kinda hot. Even more so because the bastard killed my family. I sat with a bottle of tequila in one hand and my phone in the other. trying to ease my nerves. I felt my phone buzz as I looked at the screen I noticed a strange number. Its been two days since I met them and Dean finally texts me. It read, 'That was a classic move Jack. How you holding up?’ I replied with a picture of me with the bottle in my hand. 'Just fine.’ and so it went. Sam texted every now and again to check up on me and my luck it’d be during a hunt. I was investigating a murder in St Louis when I bumped into Sam Dean and a strange girl. When they caught me I held my hands up. “Turn around so I can see your face.” Dean said in a stern voice. I turned around slowly looking at the ground I wore a white T-shirt a green flannel ripped old jeans and my lace up boots. “Hi honey you miss me?” I said cheeky. The blonde girl looked at Sam and then at Dean. “Who is she?” she asked. I already didn’t like her. “Its an old friend of ours, she’s-” “also a detective. My name is agent Daniels, you can call me Jackline.” I said giving her a trade mark eyebrow quirk. “Who are you?” she put a hand on her hip, and narrowed her eyes obviously not liking me either. “Rebeca Warren. Why are you in my brother’s house?” I rolled my eyes. “Dean called me, said he needed me to inspect a crime scene near by.” I said eyes narrowed. The boys decided to stay out of it. “There’s nothing strange here, no forced entry.” “can I have a word, Detective?” Dean asked a hint of displeasure in his tone. “Sure, Detective. ” he escorted me by my elbow. He waited till we were outside. “What do you think you’re doing Jack?” he asked. “Hunting.” I said with an exasperating sigh. “No you aren’t.” he said looking me in the eye. “You need to go back, Sam and I can’t have you freezing up like that-” “Dean Winchester, I am perfectly capable of hunting this thing down.” “that’s what you said the last time.” Dean said. My face heated up, as did my temper. “That’s different. You try being carved up like a Christmas ham and being left for dead while you were still half conscious!” he sighed.

Title: Friday the 13th (2009)
Director: Marcus Nispel
Written by: Damian Shannon, Mark Swift
Starring:
Jared Padalecki
Danielle Panabaker
Amanda Righetti
Derek Mears
Plot: A group of young adults discover a boarded up Camp Crystal Lake, where they soon encounter Jason Voorhees and his deadly intentions.
Review: On June 13, 1980, a young Jason Voorhees witnesses his mother being beheaded by a camp counselor, who was trying to escape Mrs. Voorhees’ murder spree around Camp Crystal Lake. Approximately 30 years later, a group of vacationing friends — Wade, Richie, Mike, Whitney and Amanda — arrive at Crystal Lake on a camping trip to find some marijuana that was planted in the woods. As Mike and Whitney explore the abandoned Crystal Lake camp, an adult Jason, with a cloth wrapped around his face to conceal it, begins to kill the rest of the group one by one. Jason also kills Mike, but decides to spare Whitney and abducts her because she resembles his mother at a young age.
Six weeks later, Trent, along with his girlfriend and their friends arrive at Trent’s summer cabin on the shore of Crystal Lake. The group is unaware of the events that occurred a few weeks prior. Clay Miller arrives in town to search Crystal Lake for Whitney, his sister. During a confrontation, a farmhand rips Jason’s cloth mask so he replaces it with an early model goalie mask. Clay eventually makes his way to Trent’s cabin, where Jenna agrees to help him look for his sister on the other side of the lake. Clay and Jenna reach the old Crystal Lake campgrounds, where they witness Jason hauling a dead body into one of the abandoned camp houses.
How awesome is this shot?
The pair run back to warn the others about Jason, who soon arrives and cuts the power to the cabin. After killing three more kids, Jason chases Clay and Jenna back to the campgrounds, where Clay discovers Jason’s lair and finds his sister chained to the wall still alive. Clay frees Whitney, and all three attempt to escape as Jason arrives. The trio find an exit, but Jenna is killed before she can get out. Jason comes after Clay and Whitney, but Whitney, by pretending to be Mrs. Voorhees, uses Jason’s love and memory of his mother to distract him long enough to stab him in the chest with his own machete. Afterward, Clay dumps Jason’s lifeless body into the lake. Before he and Whitney can leave, Jason bursts through the wooden dock and grabs Whitney.
This was the second Friday the 13th film I caught in the theater, and I’m glad I did because there’s nothing like seeing old Jason on the big screen. Let’s talk about what the film does right. Straight away, Jason is back and very angry, which is perfect! Watching Jason tear through these teens like the old days was great fun, and at times he was downright scary to watch. I also love how the writers made sure to call back Friday the 13th Part 2 with Jason wearing a sack on his head before the callback to Friday the 13th Part 3D where Jason got his hockey mask. This was awesome for long time fans of the franchise. There’s a certain amount of respect the writers and director gave to the history of the character that I can really appreciate.
I also like that they built the opening up, making it basically it’s own little film to introduce Mrs. Voorhees and then Jason. By the time the title screen hits, it’s been almost half an hour! This was great, as it gave people time to catch up on the characters while not rushing anything. The next hour and change would fly by, and I was never bored or hoping the movie would just end. The characters are your usual assortment, nothing new here, with the douche bag jerk, the girl who’s stupid, the stoner, the clown, and then the serious girl and guy leads. Watching them get theirs was more fun then I had in a long time with the franchise.
Well I wouldn’t get out of the water either.
The kills weren’t terribly creative but at this point, it’s pretty hard because we’ve seen just about everything there is to see. What I appreciate is they didn’t go for the torture porn route, like Hostel or Saw. Here, we get gore, good gore as well, along with plenty of story to keep things moving around. I liked the idea that Jason just wanted his mom back, and they did away with any question of weather Jason survived the drowning and watched his mother die. Here, we know he saw it all and that’s good enough for him to start killing.
While I do gush about a lot of the film, it’s not without it’s problems. First off, if Jason’s been going around kidnapping and killing people for so many years, so much so that people who live in the area know of the legend, why does Trent, the douchebag, have a cabin out at the lake? How did they summer or vacation there with Jason running around? What the hell?
Another problem is with Clay and his sister, I think it’s great that she reminds Jason of his mom, but he kept her chained up for six weeks right? So how did she go to the bathroom? What about that problem that springs up once a month? And food, did Jason feed her? Just to add onto this, since we’re talking about Jason keeping someone chained up underground in his lair, how did he have the know how to dig all these tunnels and underground caverns without them collapsing on themselves? I don’t get how he was able to do all of this on his own.
He’s one tough bastard.
One last issue I have, and this is a small one, is the reason for the kids in the beginning to be out at Camp Crystal Lake. One of them knows the legend of Jason, even telling his friends (and the audience) about it. Okay, so you don’t believe in that stuff, that’s fine I can overlook that. The reason you’re out there though is you’re searching for a large field of weed. That’s right, the teens GPS’ed a weed crop, and were trying to find it. I don’t know how you GPS a weed field, in a small town where people know about Jason yet the local police do nothing of this weed field. Even with that stupid reason for sending the kids out there, the reason is recycled from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, where the kids were smuggling weed across the border, and got attacked. The producers of these remakes were the same, and reusing the weed plot point to me, is weak and quite frankly stupid.
Still, that machete through the dock kill was awesome, am I right?
Acting: I’m not a fan of Supernatural, but I thought Jared Padalecki did a fine job as Clay Miller.
Danielle Panabaker was our lead girl, and it’s a shame she didn’t make it to the end, as I liked her more then Whitney.
Amanda Righetti really didn’t have much to do character wise as Whitney, maybe that’s for the best.
Derek Mears did a fine job as Jason, again all it really takes is being built and able to move around swiftly.
Gore Factor: Let’s go: a screwdriver in the neck, girl burned alive, axe in the back, arrow in the head, impaling by machete, another impaling, machete in the skull, a slit throat, a poker through the skull out the eye, and plenty more!
Nudity Factor: The guys get three different sets of boobs, the girls get Jared Padalecki sweating up the screen.
Fun Facts:
Producer Michael Bay walked out in the movie premiere, stating that the movie featured too much sex.
Including the 2009 remake, Jason has killed 167 total people throughout the “Friday the 13th” series.
According to co-writer Damian Shannon, the character of Jason Voorhees was re-envisioned as more territorial, like a hunter, someone who doesn’t kill people at random but will defend his territory from anyone invading it, and this in the most horrible manner. Director Marcus Nispel similarly claims the film shows new aspects of Jason’s personality. Derek Mears says his portrayal of Jason as a survivalist defending his territory is partially inspired by the character of John Rambo in First Blood (1982).
Adrienne King, star of the original 1980 film, was approached by producers Andrew Form and Bradley Fuller to do a cameo appearance during preproduction. A few days later, the producers called her back and told her they didn’t want anyone from the original film to appear in the remake.
The title card of the movie isn’t displayed until the end of the opening segment, nearly 25 minutes into the film.
The first time Paramount has any association with the “Friday the 13th” series since 1989.
Overall: Friday the 13th is not the best Friday the 13th, and even though it’s got some problems, this is a good remake of the original film. There’s plenty to enjoy for fans of the series, the mix of Jason using a sack for a mask and then getting the hockey mask, plenty of good kills (machete through the dock, the axe throw) and T&A really bring the Friday the 13th experience together. There are worse remakes out there then this for sure, so check it.
Rating: 3.5/5
Writers Afterword: A year ago today I sat down and wrote the Friday the 13th review, and my intentions were to just review the Friday the 13th films, as they are my favorite horror films. What I ended up doing was writing about so much more then that, and I did my best to cover the most popular films, while also covering ones that maybe you didn’t see. I know that I didn’t get to cover all of the sequels to the popular franchises, like Halloween or A Nightmare on Elm Street. Also, if there’s a film you wanted to see get reviewed and I didn’t get to it, well I’m sorry.
Fear not, I’m not going away. I’ll be back in a few weeks with a whole new set of reviews, for a whole different medium and genre. I want to thank Justin, Scott, and Brad for backing me up and allowing me to write what I wanted to write, for believing in me, and trusting me to help launch Placetobenation.com. They gave me a canvas to practice my art week after week, and I’m incredibly grateful and thankful for it.
This is not the end of the House of Horror, think of it as a break. We may return to it down the road after a few months or maybe even after a year has passed. Sometimes we all need to stretch our legs and try something different. I also want to thank everyone that’s ever read my column, all six of you are awesome.
Stay scared!
