"A Thousand Points of Light" was created at the Banff Centre for the Arts in August 1991, the culminaton of two weeks of intensive research with interactive MIDI percussion and electronics. A Thousand Points of Light represents the first and only collaboration between Trevor Tureski and John Oliver. Earlier in the year 1991, The United States and allies destroyed the city of Baghdad. Neither Trevor nor I ever believed there were "weapons of mass destruction," not did we believe in the legitimacy of the war. We knew it was about protecting oil interests and maintaining American war machines in the Middle East. And so during the weeks after the recording sessions, we brainstormed titles and came up with all of the titles based on the massive tumbling textures of the tracks, especially the last track called "Desert Storm." We release this archival recording on the 30th anniversary of the recording and of the Gulf War, and on the 20th anniversary of the attacks on the USA of September 11, 2001. FURTHER DETAILS ON HOW WE DID IT The work is comprised of four sections: The Mass, Fat Head, Night Vibes, and Desert Storm. All of the sound events were initiated by Trevor's gestures on MIDI-equipped vibraphone, tam-tam, bass drum and two Octopad MIDI drum controllers, before being digitally processed by John Oliver through Daniel Scheidt's Norm software and C-LAB's Notator software (precursor to Logic) for ATARI computers controlling the Yamaha sound modules TG77, and two TX802s. All electronic sounds designed by John Oliver. A special feature of the last track, Desert Storm, is the ending: we were recording to 24 track tape, and the tape ran out! by John Oliver

Instant Doctor: A short film on National Doctor's Day by The Bloc & The Youth

What will the future of healthcare hold? Will algorithms eclipse doctors entirely? We hope not. Instant doctor is a short film to show appreciation for doctors and healthcare human workers everywhere. To celebrate National Doctors' Day, The Bloc, a New York creative agency, and The Youth, a Brazilian filmmaking collective, teamed up to create a short film that imagined a world without doctors. The result is "Instant Doctor"

Fernando REDONDO against Brazil in 1999
Fernando REDONDO against Brazil is a performance which should be seen by any Argentina fan or even any fan of the beautiful game.
In September 1999, Argentina and rivals Brazil played two friendly matches and they turned out to be very memorable games. The results were split, the first a 2-0 victory for Marcelo BIELSA’s Argentina (Juan Sebastian VERON and Hernan CRESPO the goalscorers) and the second a 4-2 win for the men in yellow. Both teams were fairly stacked with the starting XI being the following for Argentina’s 2-0 victory:
Argentina:
Roberto BONANO Walter SAMUEL Roberto AYALA Nelson VIVAS Fernando REDONDO Juan Pablo SORIN Juan Sebastian VERON Javier ZANETTI Hernan CRESPO Claudio LOPEZ Ariel ORTEGA
Substitutions:
Diego SIMEONE for Juan Sebastian VERON Cristian “Kily” GONZALEZ for Claudio LOPEZ Marcelo GALLARDO for Ariel ORTEGA Eduardo BERIZZO for Hernan CRESPO
Brazil:
DIDA CAFU Antonio CARLOS Roberto CARLOS EMERSON RONALDINHO VAMPETA ZE ROBERTO RIVALDO RONALDO SCHEIDT
Substitutions:
Giovane ELBER for RONALDINHO Marcos ASSUNACO for VAMPETA
Looking at both teams, it’s fair to say both coaches had fielded strong line-ups. Brazil was just coming off a World Cup final loss with RONALDO in action, a world class defender in CAFU, the legendary RIVALDO and a young RONALDINHO. For the Albiceleste, you had Juan Sebastian VERON, Ariel ORTEGA, Hernan CRESPO, Roberto AYALA, Javier ZANETTI and the list goes on. I mean for a coach to have the luxury of having Diego SOMEONE on the bench, you know you’re spoiled for choices.
All about Fernando REDONDO:
However, there was one player in particular who put in a fantastic performance in the first match. One who out performed all the other stars. He’s won the Champions League three times (playing a pivotal part in two of them) and a Real Madrid legend. He was controversially left out of the 1998 World Cup by then coach Daniel PASSARELLA for refusing to cut his hair. Of course I’m talking about the one, the only, Fernando REDONDO. One of the classiest, most elegant, dominant midfielders the game has ever seen.
Yes, this match was a friendly match. But as we all know, there’s no such thing as a friendly match between Argentina and Brazil. Having recently watched this game a few months ago on a flight to London, it reminded me of how much of a strong team, how much of a strong midfield and how much of a strong player REDONDO was. Watching his performance back on Youtube earlier today, I felt compelled to have to share it with those who have never seen it or even those who have not seen it in a while.
Sadly, many fans around the world remember this legend for his wonderful move against Manchester United when he went passed Henning BERG as if he wasn’t even there when Real Madrid played Manchester United in the Champions League. For us, for Argentina fans, he’ll be the one that got away. The one that was never given a proper chance with his National Team. The prince who only played 29 matches for his country.
Argentina have since gone through many midfielders since REDONDO left. Javier MASCHERANO, Fernando GAGO and many others and while they all brought something to the National Team, no one was or is nearly as complete of a player as this legend. With that said, below is Fernando REDONDO’s performance against Brazil (as well as the highlights from the match), along with his trickery against Manchester United and a video compilation of his skills, goals and assists. Enjoy!

Medina, Fratus, Scheidt … Brazilians celebrate decision to postpone the Games
reproductionGabriel Medina celebrates decision to postpone Tokyo Games
The Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games were postponed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Japanese government on Tuesday due to the pandemic of the new coronavirus (covid-19). Earlier this month, several competitions around the world were canceled and the application of quarantine, to prevent the spread of the new disease, interfered with the athletes' training routine.
In this way, the National Olympic Committees expressed themselves in favor of postponing the Games and, under pressure, the IOC postponed the realization of the Olympics to 2021. The decision had a positive impact among Brazilian athletes and confederations, who manifested themselves on their social networks.
Present in six editions of the Olympics, Robert Scheidt, who is two-time Olympic champion and 15 times world sailing champion, said that this was the “correct decision”. “The IOC's decision to postpone the Olympic Games to 2021 is the right decision. And I, who participated in six Olympic Games, know that the Olympics is the greatest celebration of humanity. It's a big party. It is the time when athletes are at their peak. They show the maximum of their talent against each other ”, he said in a video published on his social networks.
“Unfortunately, the world is experiencing a very sad moment and I think that the priority today is health. Considering the health of the athletes, of everyone involved in the organization of the Olympics, the possibility of preparing in an equal way, since in some countries it is possible to train and in others not, and considering other implications, such as selection processes for the Olympics , I believe that the postponement path is the right one ”, completed the sailor.
One of the first athletes in Brazil to make a move asking for the Olympic Games to be postponed in the last few days, swimmer Bruno Fratus celebrated. “We are going to come back stronger and ready to celebrate human excellence and resilience in 2021”, he posted on his Instagram account.
Gabriel Medina, who is a two-time world surfing champion and is guaranteed a spot at the Tokyo Games, highlighted the issue that athletes will now be able to have the same chances of getting ready as soon as everything is over. “I woke up to this news and I believe it was a correct decision by the IOC and the organizers of the Tokyo Olympic Games. The health and well-being of the world's population is the highest priority at the moment. I remain focused on my goals. And as soon as all of this is over and life returns to normal, I want to resume my training routine like thousands of athletes too ”, he commented.
The greatest Paralympic athlete in the country, the swimmer Daniel Dias was another who greatly celebrated the postponement of the Games. “Japan, see you in 2021! Thank you IOC for the wise and sensible decision. I am more relaxed and motivated to participate in these Games in Tokyo! ”, He wrote.
The Brazilian Gymnastics Confederation highlighted the importance of training time for athletes. “The Prime Minister of Japan has officially asked the International Olympic Committee to postpone the Tokyo Olympics to 2021! With that, athletes from all over the world will be able to have a more adequate preparation for this mega event. See you at # Tokyo2021 ”, said the organization.

Brexit, “Miller & Cherry” e o império do direito
Fonte: O Estado da Arte
Prezados leitores, segue o link para o ótimo artigo "Brexit, “Miller & Cherry” e o império do direito", de Gilberto Morbach.
https://estadodaarte.estadao.com.br/brexit-miller-cherry-e-o-imperio-do-direito
