Food Waste and Food Distribution refers to FareShare
On Tuesday a session took place in Parliament that is entitled Food Waste and Food Distribution and the person who opened this is Jo Gideon who is the Conservative MP for Stoke on Trent and she states “I beg to move, That this House has considered food waste and food distribution” and she then says “Let me begin by reflecting on our connection to food.” After several other people and many words…

Is there a bigger agenda to the farmers’ inheritance-tax ‘sick joke’?
BySally Beck
November 14, 2024
THE British farming community is planning a mass lobby of Parliament next week and will be joined by Jeremy Clarkson. Farmers say Labour has declared ‘war on the countryside’ and that the government has broken its promise by introducing a ‘crippling’ inheritance tax on family farms. Nicknamed the ‘suicide charter’ by the farming community, the policy has already resulted in one death, while elderly farmers wonder if they should kill themselves to save their family’s legacy.
Clarkson, a fierce critic of Chancellor Rachel Reeves’s recent Budget and its inheritance tax changes, said farmers were ‘very angry and anxious’ about their future. He owns a 1,000-acre farm in the Cotswolds called Diddly Squat, which made just £144 profit in its first year.
Our Parliamentary representatives are indifferent, as demonstrated last week by their response to the deputy leader of Reform UK, Richard Tice. He asked in the Commons: ‘Are the Minister, the Secretary of State and the Chancellor aware that so serious are the consequences of this policy that the heads of farming families in their 80s and 90s are seriously considering committing suicide before it comes into place?’
Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle prevented further debate on the subject, while Daniel Zeichner, Minister for Food Security and Rural Affairs, seemed to be lost for words. He said: ‘I find it hard to respond to a question like that.’
National Farmers Union (NFU) president Tom Bradshaw is livid and warned that Labour’s move would further fuel a mental-health crisis among farmers. Farming already has a high suicide rate with 36 per cent of farmers admitting they are depressed, while 47 per cent say they struggle with anxiety.

Farmer Focus: The NHS could be saved by getting food right
Farmers are well down the government pecking order, according to Daniel Zeichner. I find this so disappointing when the government is always banging on about sustainability and renewable energy. Agriculture is the primary industry of all industries in my opinion – nothing else can function without agriculture, as everything depends on food. Do they not realise a lot of the money spent on the NHS…

Whenever I get a whiff of a heavy rose perfume, it instantly transports me back to my grandmother circa 1980. I didn’t love the decade’s intense floral smell, but I loved my grandmother so, however pungent her fragrance choice was, it always reminds me of warm hugs and unconditional love. So I was excited to discover that rose perfumes are once again flooding the fragrance market. But unlike the potent floral scent that my grandmother used to bathe herself in, the latest ones are mixed with a variety of musky, sweet and spicy notes, and are toned down in strength for a lighter, more modern-scented bouquet. Read for everything you need to know about this fragrance category from how to wear them and what to look for to find the best rose perfume for you. What floral scent is your favorite? Why are rose perfumes popular now? “Rose symbolizes beauty, love and friendship making it one of the most influential fragrance notes in the history of perfumery,” says Leila Zagwolsky, a fragrance expert and CEO and co-founder of LXSB, Luxury Scent Box. “It’s a note that has been extremely popular through several eras, especially in the ‘80s and ‘90s.” Adds beauty and personal care industry veteran, Danielle Rich of D.Rich LLC, “perfumers, otherwise known to industry insiders as ‘the noses’ have shifted a bit to modernize the classic rose scent we equate to the heavy scents our grandmothers wore, to something less intense and more wearable for every day.” You can almost compare this to the shift in fashion, as we once dressed for work in formal business suits and dresses and now we wear more relaxed, casual attire, she explains. “I think the same goes for scents—consumers want something they can wear comfortably daily and not so strong, intimidating and heavy.” What’s more, there are benefits—besides smelling great—to wearing a rose perfume. “Rose extracts are commonly used in skincare for their antioxidant effects on the skin,” says New York City dermatologist, Joshua Zeichner, MD. “There’s also data showing that rose extract aromatherapy has a beneficial effect on the skin, helping to relieve stress-related effects on the skin and even lower skin temperature.” The types of rose perfumes onairjiw/Getty The single note of pure rose has faded, but is back using a blend of other notes such as citrus, gourmands (vanilla) or woods, says Zagwolsky. Citrus/fruity rose perfumes According to Zagwolsky, a fragrance with a blend of rose with fruits or citrus notes (a fresher rose fragrance) can transition easily from day to evening (from a casual or a board meeting to dressy attire in the evening). You can wear a citrus floral all year round and anytime. This type of fragrance provides a boost in energy and mood—plus, it gives off a refreshing and elegant vibe. Gourmand/sweet rose perfumes A gourmand fragrance turns your senses instantly to a sweet delight satisfying your palette, says Zagwolsky. “These are referenced sometimes as ‘foodie’ fragrances, but for me, these are ‘sensual’ scents and romantic.” A gourmand has edible and unique notes with a sensual side, most common is vanilla, but others include almond, caramel, chocolate, coffee, honey and sugar. “The blend of gourmands and rose is usually a well-balanced fragrance, feminine with sophistication but sensual that can be worn in the day but also for a date night or evenings,” adds Zagwolsky. In the fragrance world, the category has been widely acclaimed as some of the top-ranking in popularity or trending fragrances currently in rose fragrances. Woody or musk rose perfumes A bold, rich fragrance with depth, the wear lingers leaving a silage (a trail of scent) behind you, says Zagwolsky. It can be worn in an office meeting for sophistication or evenings. These fragrances can also have intense notes of fiery oud and can offer strength and longevity with wear. Best rose perfumes worth a try As all experts will attest, fragrance is a very personal choice, but my goal was to find the ones where you can discern the distinct rose note, without it being overpowering. I found that of the ones I liked the most, rose was not the top note, but rather the middle or the base. Here are my favorites: Ralph Lauren Fragrances Romance Intense Eau de Parfum Ralph Lauren Intense is right, but it in a really good way. What I love about Ralph Lauren Fragrances Romance Intense Eau de Parfum is the combination of fruity citrus, blossoming rose and warm sandalwood. Coach Signature Eau De Parfum Coach Coach Signature Eau De Parfum is said to be inspired by the free-spirited beauty of a meadow of wildflowers—and its delicate rose scent, soft and not overwhelming, is a testament to that. Kate Spade New York Kate Spade Fresh, clean and cozy are what come to mind when inhaling the scent of Kate Spade New York. The blooming rose and fruity strawberry notes blend seamlessly, wrapping around my skin like a soft sweater. Maison Margiela Fragrances REPLICA On A Date Eau de Toilette Maison Margiela A warm floral scent, Maison Margiela Fragrances REPLICA On A Date Eau de Toilette has a sophisticated, almost sparkling spin to it thanks to the key notes of black currant liquor accord, Isparta rose petal and patchouli. Caveat: Black and red currants contain cat ketone, a chemical compound that, for some, can smell similar to cat urine, so it may not be the pick for you. Bath & Body Works Inspire Love Rose + Vanilla Eau de Parfum Bath & Body Works The light and sweet scent of Inspire Love Rose + Vanilla fragrance originally comes from the brand’s spa-inspired Aroma line and made its return into an Eau de parfum just in time for Valentine’s Day. Maybe that explains why I feel so relaxed while wearing it. Fresh Rose Morning Eau de Parfum fresh The Fresh Rose Morning Eau de Parfum is made up of lightweight notes of Bulgarian rose, peach blossom and musk that combine to create a light, clean and velvety scent. Fresh is honestly the best way to describe it! Avon LYRD Vanilla Rose Eau de Parfum Avon I sprayed on Avon LYRD Vanilla Rose Eau de Parfum and was instantly transported to the beach. That’s because of its top notes of coconut and aquatic marine accord and a subtle hint of dewy roses mixed in. Diptyque A surprise in a bottle: Diptyque Eau Rose Eau de Parfum is a spicy departure from old-school rose perfumes. You get the intensity of fresh roses blending seamlessly with the tangy and sweet hits of chamomile and artichoke for a fragrant kick! Even better? You can score this pricier pick at Sam’s Club for about $65 less than at other retailers. Daise Lowkey Rose and Sandalwood Fragrance Body Mist Daise I was ready to write this one off at first glance—it’s a bit cutesy and screams “teenager” to me. But the scent of Daise Lowkey Rose and Sandalwood Fragrance Body Mist disproved my theory, quickly becoming one of my favorites! Instead, the delicate, musky rose scent is mature and intoxicating. Best of all? It’s only $6! Parfums De Marly A beautiful blend of citrusy Italian Bergamot and floral rose and peony, Parfums De MarlyDelina La Rosée Eau de Parfum is a treat to the senses. This warm and elegant scent is perfect for a fancy night out. A little goes a long way, so taking into account its hefty price tag I would opt for the 30 ml and use it sparingly. Snif If any rose perfume is going to pull off the distinct statement-making scent of roses, yet still envelop you with a unique olfactory experience, it’s Snif Rose Era. It’s a silky and sophisticated blend of dewy roses, fruity strawberries, pear and clean laundry. XO Khloé XO Khloe XO Khloé is, simply put, captivating and hands down my favorite of the bunch. With every breath, I was treated to an enchanting cornucopia of florals, musks and soft woods. It doesn’t hurt that the chic, crystal-like bottle elevates the look of my bathroom vanity. Dossier Oud & Rose on Fire Dossier It’s similar to the heavy rose scents of the ’80s, but Dossier Oud & Rose on Fire redeems itself with its fiery, sensual allure. The oud lends a smoky spin to the flower for a scent that sizzles. And at $34 for a 1.7 oz bottle, it’s a steal! Source link

Source link

Several significant themes from last weeks Parliament
Last week several significant themes emerged including on Monday the second reading of a Bill called Lifelong Learning (Higher Education Fee Limits) that Gillian Keegan, the Chichester MP set out. On Tuesday a session entitled High Street Bank Closures involved Andrew Griffith, the MP for Arundel and South Downs. Then on Wednesday there was a debate called Poverty: Food Costs which sadly did not…

For years I have been surrounded by delicious food that isn part of my heritage and I come to realise that being Filipino is and will always be part of who I am, and the biggest misgiving I have is not knowing as much of it as I wish I do. I hate being the typical Filipino who can only cook mainstream dishes like adobo, tinola, sinigang, kare kare, etc. I wish I could have a deeper knowledge of native ingredients that are indigent to the land, the way Alex Atala does for Brazil.. It started when I was a kid. Moms new boyfriend moved in with us. Two weeks later he started beating me for any reason he could think of. It must be borne in mind that, like some others of the greatest poets, he was not a poet merely, but also a man of practical affairs, in the eyes of his associates first and mainly a courtier, diplomat, and government official. His wide experience of men and things is manifest in the life likeness and mature power of his poetry, and it accounts in part for the broad truth of all but his earliest work, which makes it essentially poetry not of an age but for all time. Something of conventional medievalism still clings to Chaucer in externals, as we shall see, but in alertness, independence of thought, and a certain directness of utterance, he speaks for universal humanity. I just got my own sweater like the one in your cart and some new nursing bras and it makes such a huge difference in my quality of life. It seems like such a silly thing, a sweater with special zippers for nursing, almost like a luxury item. That why it took me so long to get my own, but honestly a good few solid nursing tops/dresses made a huge difference to how I felt about myself.. Do I think we should take the circumstances into account? I am not sure. In Lauras and Gabriels case i would say no. There is a high change of you being problematic when you claim someone is racist, still were good friends with him and then your own racist and problematic tweets surface. 1 point submitted 1 day agoThis is almost exactly what I wanted from this drama. Insane chemistry in a plot with romance at its forefront. I like how they pacing it, and I looking forward to the stalker ex side plot. High school teacher here: had a whole conversation with my homeroom about him. They asked 동인천출장안마 about what was happening, and Stormy Daniels did come up in the conversation. A student asked who she was, so I told him she was a former porn star who had an affair with Trump and about the hush money. Also known as glycerol, glycerin is a humectant that works similarly to hyaluronic acid, says Zeichner. Composed of fats and sugars, it's a sweet tasting lipid that's actually found in all fats, whether they are from animals or vegetables [Source: Paula's Choice]. Because glycerin is a humectant, it readily absorbs and retains water, keeping skin sooth and hydrated. I borrowed a vacuum cleaner from the front office and everything was fine.I rooming with my boyfriend, who I met in person at UF and knew 동인천출장안마 for a while before we moved in together. When I lived on campus, I applied for housing waaay late and was put into a completely random rooming situation. I loved my roommates and am lucky to have had such a positive experience.
