RoboCop (1987)
Tumblr media
Summary: After being brutally murdered by a criminal gang, police officer Alex Murphy (Peter Weller) is revived and transformed by Omni Consumer Products as cyborg law enforcer RoboCop.
A Verhoeven satire that hasn’t aged a day in its subject matter, uncomfortably enough. Holds up surprisingly well visually, too.
Rating: 4/5

So, I started a re-watch of the Sharpe series. I love going back after not having seen a show in ages and being pleasantly delighted by seeing actors you'd completely forgotten were in it in the first place (ohai Brian Cox! Your Hogan is an absolutely goddamn delight). Or actors who had yet to become Big Names (fuck! That's Daniel Craig! I didn't know you'd be here!). Or actors that you have a particular fondness for because of one of their roles that imprinted on you as a youth (it's you again, Gavan O'Herlihy; seeing the guy who played Airk in Willow (1988) being a slave-owning soldier from Virginia working with the English against Napoleon was something of a surprise). And then there's simply swooning over actors who deserve more love (Assumpta Serna, you are an otherworldly being whether leading a band of Spanish guerillas or running a new age shop (yes, that was her in The Craft (1996))).
I've only just gotten through "Sharpe's Eagle." I know there are yet more surprises and gems to be found as I keep going forward. And. I. Can't. Wait.

The Big Cube (1969) Trailer
The Big Cube is a 1969 American psychological-thriller film directed by Tito Davison and starring Lana Turner, Karin Mossberg, George Chakiris, Daniel O'Herlihy and Richard Egan.
Its plot follows an aging former actress who is dosed with LSD by her malicious stepdaughter, seeking to drive her mad and obtain her fortune. It is notable for its aggressive portrayal of LSD use and the 1960s youth counterculture as vicious evils.

Halloween III: Season of the Witch: 1982
Hospital emergency room Dr. Daniel "Dan" Challis (Tom Atkins) and Ellie Grimbridge (Stacey Nelkin), the daughter of a murder victim, uncover a terrible plot by small-town mask maker Conal Cochran (Dan O'Herlihy), a madman who's planning a Halloween mass murder utilizing an ancient Celtic ritual. The ritual involves a boulder stolen from Stonehenge, the use of Silver Shamrock masks and a triggering device contained in a television commercial -- all designed to kill millions of children.
