Watched The God of High School today.
Tumblr media
I really liked the anime, but part of me kinda felt like it was too fast paced? When I was on the 5th episode, I really felt the story was moving so fast like I was on the 10th episode.
Not really complaining, I liked it, but just at some moments i felt like huh? Mmm eh?
Other than that, the animation was realllllyyy good. Part of me was really confused in between because what are the concepts, who's who, and what's exactly happening. There's Park who's given devil-like traits but he's not the devil, and the six, and the other god who was defeated? And our very own Jin, is he a god himself, I'm guessing he is, but I need moreeeee.
And i heard S2's not here yet, so that's not good :(
...
Hmm, but focusing on S1, the way the show started, with the fights and martial arts combat, i really did like it. Except in the middle of it they introduced the charoyaki thing which confused me, especially in the part where can the general public who are witnessing the God of highschool program see it? And if not, how do they make sense of what's happening in front of them? And then it went on ahead and became a little cultic, and gods and demons and so on :3 (Fr I was not expecting that, at all)
...
I don't have any complaints but the only thing was that the story moved super fast, which didn't give the necessary time to feel really attached to the characters. However, the beginning and the character traits of jin really did make me laugh, and him with Mira and Daewe, the first scene where they meet, and before that when they were catching the robber. Those scenes were hella funny.
Also, any time I see a 9 tailed fox god reference, my mind immediately goes to Naruto and Kurama. And Ilpyo's eyes did look like Naruto's in sage mode.
....
Other than that, if I ever make a wrong decision in my life under weird pressure of sorts, I want my bestfriends to make such an entry. Because man, this was one of the coolest, hottest entries. It made me happy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
....
Overall, nice anime, kept me engaged because well i did binge it today. But I have questions. The animation is so SO good.

Santa Cruz, Manila
Part 01 : The Cemeteries
Amidst the vibrant chaos of urban life in Manila, one can discover a solemn sanctuary that whispers tales of the past - the old cemeteries of Santa Cruz. As a district veiled in both melancholy and forgotten grace. Its old cemeteries, like missing chapters of a novel, exude a sense of neglect and abandonment.
Tumblr media
In this corner of Santa Cruz, the once-pristine graves, now weathered and crumbling, bear witness to lives left untended and memories lost to time's relentless passage. Here, amidst the faded epitaphs and mossy stones, the echoes of forgotten souls whisper, the weight of unspoken stories hangs heavy in the air, yearning for the solace of remembrance.
Image above: Manila North Cemetery
Image below: Manila Chinese Cemetery
Tumblr media
The old cemeteries of Santa Cruz are veritable archives of the human experience, where the past's timeless beauty reveals itself amidst gravestones and mausoleums. Here, Manila's history finds a poignant resting place, etched in the city's collective memory of life and death.
“For the forgotten dead, both heroes and nobles, Lacrimosa Santa Cruz, by their tombs she trembles.”
Part 02 : From “Congratulations” to “Condolence”
Santa Cruz, like a faithful companion throughout the journey from birth to death, whispers its sentiments through the language of flowers - a silent communication that speaks volumes.
Tumblr media
In the northern expanse of this district, a somber path unfolds, lined with hospitals and medical establishments that gradually give way to the solemnity of cemeteries.
This slender district, resembling an aisle, gracefully escorts you along its hallow avenue, accompanying you until the very end, akin to a devoted guide on this transformative passage of life.
Part 03 : Fuente de Vida
Tumblr media
At the southern part of Santa Cruz, where the bustling streets converge in a symphony of chaos and vitality, stands the Carriedo Fountain in Plaza Santa Cruz. Here, amidst the cacophony of hurried footsteps and blaring horns, a testament to vigor and life emerges, defying the somber ambiance that envelops the district's northern realms of cemeteries and hospitals.
The fountain becomes an audacious centerpiece, its cascading waters dance with fervor, a metaphorical rebellion against the relentless flow of time. Its grandeur is a stark contrast to the humble dwellings and makeshift stalls that populate the vibrant streets nearby, mirroring the chaotic rhythm of the surrounding urban theater.
Amidst the unapologetic raucous and vivacious surroundings, the Carriedo Fountain stands tall, a testament to the indomitable human spirit that thrives even in the most tumultuous of circumstances.

314: Manu Dibango // O Boso
Tumblr media
O Boso Manu Dibango 1972, London Records
In 2014, a Discogs user who goes by the handle nyuorican wrote on the page for Manu Dibango's O Boso/Soul Makossa, “Such an amazing album, musically it deserves to be like a $500 album easily, we're so lucky a lot were pressed up and kept circulating.” As criticism it’s not making Craig Jenkins sweat or anything, but it’ll probably be a more decisive assessment for anyone curious about Afro-jazz/funk of whether to listen than any of my blather. Original copies of stuff this good in this genre from this region almost invariably costs the same as a dog bred like a Spanish Habsburg, but thanks to the worldwide success of its pioneering single “Soul Makossa” this shouldn’t run you much more than $20. That’s a steal for music that grooves like this does.
youtube
Dibango wrote and arranged everything here and, as his note on the back cover makes explicit, his goal is to pay tribute to the common African roots of contemporary global Black music (jazz, soul, calypso, samba, etc.) via fusion. The Cameroonian sax giant surrounds himself with a crack band of African, Caribbean, and French jazz players, and the sheer variety of skills they bring to the table gives him great latitude to explore. The chords of “Dangwa” have the joyous lilt of African dance music but the bassline could be an R&B banger, while Dibango’s freaky sax runs are straight modal jazz. “Hibiscus” is soul jazz that would make Roy Ayers proud, Dibango’s horn blowing a lonely mating call while the casually funky electric piano, congos, and wacka-wacka guitar sketch an image of a hot city night after the clubs let out.
Of course, it’s “Soul Makossa,” an emissary of the makossa sound of Cameroon that predicts the disco wave, that towers over the rest in terms of influence, and it’s difficult to imagine how novel its minimalist percussive strut, echoing Duala-language ad libs, and deluxe horn hits must’ve sounded in the era. It’s one of those records where you can hear a bit of everything that was to come in Black music, from Chic to Kurtis Blow to Prince—partially because it’s been so frequently sampled that it literally is a bit of everything that was to come in Black music. But don’t sleep on opener “New Bell” either, a less hooky track in the same general mold, but one that rolls extremely deep.

I like flowers. I like receiving flowers. I like giving flowers. I like painting flowers. I like giving paintings of flowers.
These are things I realized when I was with V since I never really cared whether boyfriends give me flowers or not and never really felt like I wanted to give flowers before I met her.
I remember the first flower she ever gave me. It was a single stalk of sunflower for my 20th birthday. When I saw her waiting for me with that flower in hand, I felt like my heart was going to burst.
In almost 5 years with her, she gave me many bouquets of different kinds of flowers, and every single one of them were handpicked by her from Dangwa. I appreciate her so much for doing that when we were together because I learned just how much I love receiving flowers and how much I feel loved even if it’s just a stalk of whatever as long as it’s pretty.
I like flowers.
I remember the last time I picked out flowers for the bouquet I gave her last year when we officially broke up—I think I gave her lilies.
I don’t even know if she liked it and what happened to it. It’s a shame if she threw it away but I’m indifferent to V now and I’m just happy with whatever’s going on with her. As expected, we wilted like all the flowers she gave me.

In every flower shop, there is a person that specializes in arranging a simple flower to look more beautiful, elegant, and more appealing to person’s perspective and those people are called a florist.
Floristry is the art of creating flower arrangements in vases, bowls and baskets, or making bouquets and compositions from cut flowers, foliage, herbs, ornamental grasses and other botanical materials. Florists are people who work with flowers and plants, generally at the retail level.

The euphoria of freedom during ESSUPHORIA 2024 fueled me to rock and roll!
We have celebrated the 20th charter day of Eastern Samar State University through a free concert by Sponge Cola brought us by Cong. Marcelino "Nonoy" Libanan.
The time I heard that Sponge Cola will be having a free concert in ESSU, I suddenly reminisced my childhood back then everytime my uncles would play their songs including other OPM bands. Until now, those kinds of music keeps on playing back in my mind without knowing the song title. I tend to familiarised their song.
As I scrolled down to the page of ESSU looking at the uploaded dress code of the event, I was doubting if I could attend the concert but my friends made a way for me. They asked permission to my lola and by luck, we made it to the concert.
The moment we got there, we came across the distance viewing the crowd as they fall in line to enter the venue while the downpour was starting. It was really a hassle. We were checked by the Criminology Marshalls before we could totally enter the grandstand. We saw the concessionaires offered inside such as coffee, milk shakes, fries, and crochet flowers as well. We bought my favorite iced matcha coffee for three to sip as we vibed to the music of Sponge Cola. We didn't give a damn about our shoes being stuck in the mud since it rained before the said event.
It was indeed a moment of freedom, joy, bond and a deep relieving sigh without thinking about our academics even just for the short period of time. We really had fun that night especially that I was with my genuine friends. We screamed our heart out everytime Yael Yuzon, the vocalist would start a song such as Tuliro, Pag-ibig, Kay Tagal Kitang Hinintay and so on. We laughed and even cried, jump and stumped our feet as we relate to the songs.
