According to Salamondra, her daughter suffered a “broken neck” and a “cracked spine in the back” in an interview.

Brutally attacked by her friends

Although a formal explanation of how the victim’s injuries occurred has not yet been made public, it is possible that she was attacked by her friends. The shocking video, which has not gone popular on social media, shows a woman repeatedly beating Shanquella Robinson as she is naked in a room. The violent attack in the room was later captured on camera by the friends. The buddies appeared to be supporting the attacker at one point as the victim lay on the ground. According to VCA animal hospitals, Atlantoaxial luxation or atlas luxation is a condition where unstable or extreme movement is present in the first two vertebrae of the neck. The atlas and axis are the names of the first two neck bones. The first bone in the neck, the atlas, is situated closest to the head. Traumatic injury or a hereditary condition can both lead to atlas luxation. The two bones that are put on the spinal cord must move unstable against one another for such an injury to occur. It’s reasonable to believe that Robinson’s injuries were from her companion physically assaulting her. Robinson can be seen in the now-famous social media video being stripped down and repeatedly thrashed by her pal. Salamondra Robinson, mother of Shanquella Robinson, has been demanding answers since the day she found out her daughter died. Shanquella was found dead last month during a trip to Mexico with a group of friends. Though the investigation into her death began at a slow start, Salamondra said social media has been a driving force behind getting justice, per NBC News. Initial reports of Robinson’s death say that she was found dead at a villa in Cabo San Lucas Oct. 29. Authorities originally suspected no foul play in her death and her friends claimed she died of alcohol poisoning. However, Robinson’s mother claims an autopsy found she suffered a broken neck and fractured spinal cord. On top of that, alleged videos of Robinson being assaulted and various social media posts have brought Twitter users to believe her friends murdered her. It gets deeper. When her friends called for help, Dr. Karolina Beatriz Ornelas Guitierrez arrived and found Robinson alive. She wanted to take Robinson to the hospital but her friends refused, per WCNC Charlotte. Eventually an ambulance was called and for the next three hours, Guitierrez attempted 14 sessions of CPR, six electric shocks with a defibrillator and five doses of adrenaline but to no avail. One friend who was still in the US during the incident went to Facebook alleging the group stole $10k from Robinson before they fled back home after her death. Robinson’s mother shared the post on her Instagram. She told NBC if it wasn’t for social media, the authorities would have let the case go cold. “I never thought she wouldn’t get justice because we were going to try to go all the way. But I appreciate everything that everybody’s done, however you’ve played a part in it,” said Salamondra Robinson. The FBI in Charlotte has opened an investigation with Mexican authorities after the amplification of the videos showing the moments before Robinson’s death, per ABC News. According to excerpts from a police report obtained by The Charlotte Observer, a doctor from a local hospital in Cabo, Mexico was with Robinson and other house members for almost three hours before she was pronounced dead on Oct. 29. The partial police report was provided to The Charlotte Observer by an investigative reporter for MetropoliMx, a news publication in Mexico. In the report, authorities say at 2:13 p.m. on Oct. 29, medical aid was summoned to the Villa where Robinson and her vacation crew were staying, located in San José del Cabo. An hour later Dr. Gutiérrez from the American Medical Center, a local hospital in the area, arrived to assist Robinson. Gutiérrez was then told by others at the house that Robinson had “drunk a lot of alcohol.” He then decided to give Robinson an IV. The report goes on to say that Gutiérrez found “a female” — understood in the report to be Robinson — with stable vital signs but dehydrated, unable to communicate verbally, and appearing to be inebriated. Gutiérrez then told the other housemates he believed Robinson needed to be transferred to a hospital, but her friends insisted that she be treated at the Villa. Dr. Gutiérrez then tried to give Robinson an IV but was unsuccessful. According to the police report, an hour into Gutiérrez’s house visit Robinson began to have a seizure. 911 was called shortly after by one of the housemates. By this point, Shanquella Robinson was struggling to survive. She was suffering from difficulty breathing and a lowered pulse. At 4:49 p.m. Gutierrez detected Robinson had stopped having a pulse. They quickly began giving her CPR. The report says police arrived at 5:25 p.m. and paramedics “administered a total of 14 rounds of CPR, five doses of adrenaline, and six discharges (AED shocks) without success.” Shanquella Robinson was pronounced dead at 5:57 p.m., according to the report.
