would you like to talk about how bad the mha ending was hella
as much as i would love to give like. a comprehensive response i genuinely dont think i can get my words together just yet without it being a constant unintelligble stream of 'AND ANOTHER THING-' and bc it's become quite torn in the fandom on if the chapter was good or bad i want like. an actual coherent response here. so i will reblog this if/when i can word it but know IM NOT FUCKING HAPPY
#paragraphs and paragraphs about the villains' endings alone. hawks hpsc president. midoriya's ending#the fact hero society is barely changed and the changes that do happen feel very much TELLING the reader it happened#as opposed to actually showing us how society changed on it. this is smthn ik people will argue w me about#bc yes it was a 400+ chapter manga arguably showing us how society changed but like. did it actually show that#like do u honestly think any community would watch televised battles between TEENAGERS and bad guys#and have the majority of them go 'gah! i cant help but sympathise with the bad guy who just suckerpunched child extra no.28!'#so like. why are they all suddenly on board with massive systemic reinvention. where's the rage where's the bitterness#this wasn't a story on showing the villains as redeemable and working towards society sympathising with them#and slowly painfully coming to a conclusion where japan was ready to change as a COLLECTIVE#this was a story of showing a group of redeemable villains (first step CHECK) getting DEFEATED IN BATTLE#THEY ALL FUCKING DIED EXCEPT SPINNER AND PRESUMABLY COMPRESS#WE DONT EVEN FUCKING KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO DABI AT THE END ONLY THAT HE WAS PUT IN THE EXACT SAME POSITION#HE WAS IN WHEN HE WOKE UP FROM HIS COMA AND DABI WAS BORN. 'DABI' AS A PERSONA MEANT NOTHING#we still have an abuser who didn't come to justice. we still have the corrupt government body now being led by the guy they trafficked#and abused and conditioned into the perfect soldier. do u think maybe his opinions are a little biased in regards to that gov. body#maybe. perhaps. slightly. and we still have hero charts!!!!!! every kid in the last chap is still obsessed w becoming a hero!!!!#and dont get me STARTEDDDDDDDDD on midoriya being a teacher. 'i think it's cute he finally gets a life of peace 🥺#this way he can help the next generation directly 🥺' womp to the fucking womp he was supposed to be the world's no.1 hero#he barely sees his friends anymore. 'it's realistic to adulthood!' i dont want realism in my superpowered teen and up manga#put them in the avengers mansion NOW#so as you can see i waffled regardless of saying i specifically wasn't gonna do that and some of these points bother me more than others#with some being personal I Didn't Like It and some being i genuinely truly believe it to be bad writing#but my summary is mha ultimately felt like a story where a group of individuals unlearned (eh) the beliefs of a toxic society#and tried to save the people that society failed and then they themselves DID NOT FUCKING SAVE THEM#(i have a hit on the redemption via death trope on the dark web for ten bajillion pounds)#and while yeah that isn't objectively an evil story to tell i think 1) it was done poorly#and 2) isn't what a lot of people believed the premise to be nor what i think horikoshi himself was trying to write#ask#mha spoilers#mha

Dabi: You look terrified little brother. Are you that afraid to fight me?
Shoto: You might want to look behind-
Dabi: That’s a pathetic trick. You can do better.
Fuyumi, behind him, brandishing a fire extinguisher: It’s about time I went feral.

Consider the Eraserdust crack AU potential
Pretty sure at least half of the plot would be negated by Eraserhead checking Shigaraki for a head injury in front of Dabi and Toga.
Aizawa would default to gruff but careful first aid provision, he’s checking eyes asking concussion questions in a soothing voice. Shigaraki is having a frozen fanboy panic and his evil found siblings are Judging Him. Only not too hard because it you absolutely must have a crush on a Pro Hero then Eraserhead is the least bad option.
And once they have escaped the Roasting begins.
The entire Vanguard knows now. All for One knows know. Dabi and Toga are diverting from tasks to flirt with Eraserhead because wE haVE GamE and thIs iS hOw yoU FliRT while Spinner resists mightily. All for One is rethinking his heir choices. Kurogiri is a dirty rotten enabler with a (seemingly) inexplicable meme making ability. Twice is so confused, has been stabbed three times and now has Aizawa’s phone number for emergency Quirk Counseling consultations.
(Twice had no idea what is going on but he is a Good Brain Troubles Dad and he is deploying all resources to help his Good Villian Kids. Toga is taking the brunt of this and is enjoying a massive leap in logical planning. She is using this to call bullshit)
Now completely useless for 60% of All for Ones plots they are effectively benched and are entertaining themselves by hunting Endeavor for sport. At some point Dabi will get outted and his non crime siblings will have Opinions.
All for One gathers his other minions come to do it himself.
Nezu, Snipe and Eraserhead make this a bad life choice for him in particular.

Hi I'm mad
#this is the only place I can vent about My Hero stuff#I'm so pissed that Toga is dead it's so fucked up#like everything about it is so fucked up#it started with Jin being killed#all he wanted to do was protect his friends#but Hawks mercilessly killed him while he begged for his life#and then in the big battle Toga didn't get to kill Hawks and avenge her friend#and that scum gets to live and continue being a hero#and then Toga dies too while characters with significantly worse injuries somehow survive#like are you shitting me she dies when DABI survived???#dude is a charcoal skeleton there's no fucking way he should be alive#and Uraraka went through this whole deal of questioning heroes' actions because of what Toga said to her#Toga and Uraraka finally reaching an understanding and bonding just for Toga to die is such garbage#Toga wanted to be accepted and she found it in the League#then had to watch her friends all die when all most of them wanted was just a better society#but she could have stayed with Uraraka#it would have been so much more meaningful if Toga had lived and inspired Uraraka to go into like social work#helping people who were outcasts because of their quirks#working with Toga who also knew about Spinner and Jin and Shigaraki's experiences#it's just disgusting and shows that the author doesn't understand his own world#it honestly also gives off homophobia#like he had these little glimmers of queer rep with Magne and Toga#but Magne was brutally killed#Toga died after the briefest gay moment with her and Uraraka#plus we know Jin was an ally because he threatened to kill another villain for misgendering Magne but Jin died too#honestly the only highlights of this ending for me are that Nagant and Gentle/La Brava got to live and be free#I've read this far but I honestly don't know if I care enough to finish now that Toga is seemingly confirmed dead#this is why I don't pick up shonen manga or anime anymore#toga himiko#ochako uraraka

When the recent events happened in the fandom I have been curious on your stance on the whole thing (to clarify: I have sent the ask stating my very neutral stand on the whole shipping drama and how I can see the appeal + how the japanese have the better grasp on the twins)
Honestly, the revelation about the shipping content has come to no surprise for me, I always thought: "If anyone is secretly into blankshipping it's got to be them!"
Observing the whole thing from the outside and viewing a few sides I can't shake the feeling that this whole drama has shaken up the whole fandom. The whole thing has been held surprisingly quiet so far... I remember quite a few other artists that have been shippers all along things blew up and they have been getting the worst treatment until the fandom had something new to be upset about. I think the silence is mostly because other bigger artists (most who have been collaborated on this sticker sheet) worked alongside them and don't wanna spoil the profits they gain from these. At least it is my guess...
Hearing from you their furry stance further explains the silence from one of them, who's also known to be a furry... along with working on that sticker sheet.
Seeing that artists explanation to the situation (no apology so there is definitely more hidden to that, not that I care either way) has given me the feeling that things are going to change in the fandom from now on.
I've gotten the feeling this has split the fandom in half. People who are okay that they did these commissions since money is money, and people who are not okay with this and decide to stop engaging with their stuff (and possibly harass them depending on the level of cruelty these antis have) I have seen people withdrawing entirely from engagement getting harassment in the like of "how dare you not choose to see they needed the money REEEE" and so on, and the artist who have all collaborated on the sticker sheet still have been silent on the whole thing as well.
Personally, I couldn't care less what that artist is doing or not (at least they should be honest in the first place) and I'm too old to engage in this fandom kindergarten drama.
But yeah, getting the feeling the fandom will be different from now on.
Hope nothing's is gonna affect you and your work! Hope no harassment reaches you! Take care!
Cue South Park clip:
Cartman: She was young and needed the money!
Kyle: That blankshipping drawing was done last week!
I hope the fandom will be different. PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE let it be different! Stop playing politics and acting like hypocrites, people in the submas fandom! It's ridiculous how the same artist who got themselves in trouble doing the blankshipping commission could have drawn shitting dick nipple fucking furry galvantula Emmet packing Depot Agent Josh's werewolf ass-womb full of joltik eggs, and nobody would have batted an eye. -But it's unacceptable to do twincest because that would be weeeeeeeird…. It's all dreck, and everybody is dumb as hell, so why are we taking Train Clowns that seriously?
I give the big-name artists a lot of credit for being tolerant. After all, anyone reading this blog would see I post art from a lot of popular Tumblr artists despite being an unapologetic proshipper. Many of them pretend I don't exist, and at the very worst, they somehow block me from showing up on their tags, but I'm still allowed to enjoy their content. That's appropriate behavior from people who are basically running a hotdog stand. You aren't going to move a lot of hotdogs if you act overly discriminant over who gets to buy one. I wish they'd do more though, like if every big-name artist was to get together and tell people to stop harassing proshippers, then they could make real change. They could say, "Imagine the fandom without us. Interest would fade really fast. We give the western wing of this fandom life."
Also, it's shitty when artists have to sneak around and make sockpuppet accounts to post their twin pron. That makes it so there's no middle ground. Nobody wants to do the cutesy romantic spice-of-life content because that might show they actually have a personality. If they do that, people might figure out WHICH personality it is, and next thing you know, they inadvertently out themselves. -So instead, we have to see a blankshipping tag full of everybody's grossest deepest darkest fetishes on full display. If I say something like, "Hey! I just want to see twins being cute without all the farty furry fatfatfat..", then it ends up being easier for them to act like I'm the oppressor than to challenge the wider money machine.
I suspect a few of the blankshippers with sock puppets made a point of rubbing it in on the trainwreck tag, like, "Look at me! I'm better at playing politics! My two-dick snake man erotic cannibalism belly kink fic is socially acceptable because I do fwuffy wuffy twainweck! Your (actually on topic) fic where Emmet goes to Hisui like a bat out of hell to beat up Volo with all the rage of a cop avenging his dead wife is not socially acceptable! You should be ashamed of yourself for thinking a story about an autistic guy beating the shit out of a crazy guy would be HILARIOUS.
Srsly tho, this is why I wrote an Arceus!Volo losing his memories fic once. This whole thing reeks of a Giratina fucken with, like Giratina is so pissed at their parent for locking them in the distortion world, they came up with the twin separation scenario. Next thing you know, Volo is all, *flips hair* I JUST WANTED TO MAKE A BETTER WORLD! INSTEAD, I HAVE THIS PISSED OFF MUPPET FROM THE FUTURE BEATING THE SHIT OUT OF ME WHILE THREATENING TO 'BREAK MY BACK IN HALF LAYING A RAILROAD TIE ACROSS MY ASS'. WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEEEEEEEAN!!111!! *sniffles*
Do other fandoms have to put up with this sort of thing? I get people are protective of the Subway Bosses because they are autistic, but could it also be because they aren't villains? They look like the sort of guys who could be villains because of the creepy puppet design, but they aren't. Would problematic ships make people less mad if they were villains?
Makes me wonder because I want to write Dabi x Geten from My Hero Academia. Just so people realize where I'm coming from, this ship relates to the Subway Bosses. The twins have a black and white dynamic where they are opposites who complement each other. Dabi and Geten are Fire and Ice (water basically), and they are both villains. One is a member of a cult who was taken as a child(?) and thoroughly brainwashed. The other was selectively bred for a specific purpose but is unable to fulfill said purpose because of a genetic defect that has left him badly mutilated, mentally ill and longing for vengeance. The 'enemies to friends to lovers' premise will be that Geten figures out that if he cares enough about Dabi, then he could offer to use his ability to relieve the strain of his genetic defect, and they could complement each other. It might end up bittersweet because in the canon manga, there might not be much left of Dabi, even if his immediate family is able to cancel out his defect and cool him down enough to prevent him from dying (fucken guy got an arm blown right off and might be blind..).
This new ship might be stealth incest, as Geten reveals he is in a branch family related to Dabi's mother, (how close is not given. They could range from being cousins to being people sharing a similar heritage who aren't related at all) but I'm not in it for that. I'm a complex and nuanced individual, and I'm more into the idea of complementary opposites than into incest. *hint hint* Just like I am with the Train Clowns (that, and the idea of their psychic identical twin bond, per my imaginative head canon). That doesn't mean people into actual incest as a main focus are wrong either. Same goes for people into the furry bullshit, but again, one shouldn't be considered socially acceptable and one not. Again, either everything goes, or admit it's all garbage and everybody into it is a hypocritical clown.

after sitting with my thoughts about the epilogue for some time, I think the thing that broke the story had started right after Dabi's dance. said thing is LOV' utterly out of character treatment of each other and Shigaraki specifically.
Tumblr media
them just standing there and passively observing the scene makes absolutely zero sense, if you use anything from their previously established relationships within the organisation for reference. especially with All for One's creepy comments. Spinner even points out shortly before this chapter that AFO!Shigaraki seems nothing like his normal self and this person is not the one he had chosen to follow.
Tumblr media
and yes, Spinner does approach screaming Shigaraki and tries to help him, and his concern later leads him to seeing Shigaraki's mutated form in the cave, and on its own this development for Spinner is in line with his character and all around fine. pretty reminiscent of Toga and Twice, too.
Tumblr media
(except Spinner is not allowed to really help Shigaraki in any way, unlike Toga was allowed to help Twice, and this entire thing between Shigaraki and Spinner only ends with Spinner's regrets and survivor's guilt instead of anything good or meaningful that isn't meaningless angst porn)
it isn't Spinner approaching Shigaraki that is the issue, it's the other's complete lack of action or even reaction besides appearing mildly disturbed. this is simply out of character for all of them, just judging by Twice's example who had similar breakdowns and wasn't plainly ignored by the others until his fit stops. this reaction makes even less sense, when you take into account the current state of the League. Twice had just been murdered by Hawks, the double agent who had infiltrated the League via Dabi, and Mister Compress had just sacrificed himself to give the League a chance for escape, and was sent to Tartarus immediately after his condition was no longer life threatening. Kurogiri is also being held captive by the heroes. there are only four of them left, with two dead and two captured. and none of them even mention the dead or the captured outside of the context of Kurogiri and his quirk.
this straight out makes no sense if you look back to the Overhaul arc and remember how far Shigaraki and the rest of them were willing to go to avenge Magne's death and Mr Compress' destroyed arm. this was important.
Tumblr media
the event had motivated Shigaraki to be a better leader, because he had realized these people depend on him, and he won't let them be hurt under his protection. it had started the seed of self-doubt in Jin which would eventually grow to the desperation that allowed him to overcome the mental block against his quirk in the MVA arc, because he wanted to do everything he possibly could to help the League. it allowed him to make his clones despite the crippling trauma, because he saw Toga's hurt, bleeding body, and he didn't want her to die.
Tumblr media
even fucking Giran, a broker whose very profession requires him to care about himself and his own well-being first and foremost, had sacrificed all of his fingers to prevent Redestro from getting his hands on the League. because he wants to protect them, to save them. and then we never actually see his mutilated hands or hear anything from him ever again.
and when Twice actually dies? all we get in response to that are two upset faces from Dabi and Toga's fury. that's it.
Tumblr media
i really want to stress how out of character this barely-present reaction is, because Magne's example is right there and when Overhaul had killed her, the League knew each other for no longer than a month. this League has been together for at least half a year, had been through thick and thin together, had spent months on the run, homeless, having no one but each other to rely on, has defeated the Meta Liberation Army, quite literally, with the power of their friendship. they all cared enough about each other and Shigaraki specifically to stay with him during those months they had to fight Gigantomachia with barely any breaks for rest, still homeless, barely scraping by. it was imperative that they all survive through this together, especially for Shigaraki, who had went on this quest of getting stronger at least partly so that he would become a more reliable protector for the League. and when Twice falls victim to the hero who had murdered him in cold blood, because no one except for Dabi was there to save him, Shigaraki doesn't even get to react to Twice's death, and possibly never even learns about the fact.
on topic of Dabi, his reaction being exactly two frames of sad expressions and including the footage of Twice's murder into his broadcast, and ending immediately after that, also makes no sense. Dabi is someone who holds himself accountable and despite his declarations, cares about the League, it's the very reason he was keeping Hawks from the League and sprinted to Twice as soon as he realized Hawks' intentions with him, to protect him. Dabi's unsuccessful attempt to save Twice is another iteration of Overhaul, a combination of Shigaraki and Twice's roles in the tragedy. but unlike Shigaraki, who had steeled himself into taking care of his subordinates and becoming a responsible and strong leader, or Twice who had never forgotten about his role in the incident, Dabi just somehow forgets about the entire thing as soon as the first war is over. Toga is the one whom the narrative allows to actively react to Twice's death and express her grief. it makes sense that her reaction would be the strongest, as she was the closest with Twice, but why are two LOV members no longer allowed to care about the same incident at the same time? why aren't they allowed to protect each other anymore, when Giran, who is not even in the League, had made that sacrifice for them?
These are pretty small things, but it's these instances of Toga and Dabi preventing Machia from being injected with the sedative, protecting the League that are sorely missing in the second war.
Tumblr media
and the biggest act of devotion and protection to the League, which was the last time we saw anything like this for them, Mister Compress' last moments with the League.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mutilating his own body just to buy them five seconds to possibly escape. Because he loved the League, because he wanted all of them to be happy and achieve their dreams, to be free, and to live.
and in return for the favour, not only do they not come back for him like they did for Kurogiri (because his quirk is important for the plot, while Compress' isn't), but none of them mention Compress ever again. same with Twice (with the exception of Toga), same with Magne. from this point onwards, none of them are allowed by the plot to even care about the League of Villains. the interpersonal relationships between two individuals still shine through, occasionally, like Spinner's devotion to Shigaraki (and him alone), Dabi and Toga's pyromaniac trauma lane visit to her house and him giving her Twice's blood, Kurogiri reaching out to Shigaraki in the very end. but what about the League? ahd what about the dead members of the League, or Mister Compress?
somehow, at the point of the final war it boils down to the generalized conflict of heroes vs villains and the morality gymnastics involved in the concept. on its own, this would have been an okay development, if the examples the story was using to prove its point weren't people who had become very close friends and who had lost four people to this war against the heroes.
if the individual conflicts, like Toga's desperation to be acknowledged as human being deserving of affection, Dabi's familial abuse trauma and Shigaraki's lifelong manipulation by All for One not giving him any chance to be saved at all, were the finishing line of the villains' story development, why join them within the League at all? LOV is a separate concept functioning as a collective uniting all these villains, giving them a place to belong and people who give a fuck whether they live or die. except not anymore, because for some reason after the first war this concept is scratched completely.
so why not make them mere acquaintances who sometimes collaborate to bother the heroes together, if the bond between them got in the way of the story and wasn't the point of the story? why prove the depth of their bond with the Overhaul and My Villain Academia arcs? why make Shigaraki develop relationships and a sense of responsibility for these people at all, if in the very end his desire to save these people is denied by the author himself?
the previous arcs have spent a great deal of effort establishing that the villains are human too. they have human feelings, human desires and human relationships. so why is it that in the final arc their ability to experience human emotions towards each other is turned on and off manually by the author? at the very end even the author stops pretending like anything happening to the villains is evaluated on the scale of human experiences (unlike the heroes, whose injuries and deaths are talked about and mourned in great detail) and Kurogiri and Shigaraki are wiped out like plot inconveniences rather than important and well written characters.
honestly? it's ironically meta that the story ended up proving the very point it has spent 400 chapters arguing against.

Hawks: Babe...I want to have a baby.
Dabi: Jeez, not this again!
Hawks: Imagine how cute he would be - with little fiery wings!
Dabi: Absolutely not.
Hawks: With the two of us training him, I bet he'd get into UA no sweat.
Dabi: No.
Hawks: We'd be the coolest Dads. We could wear matching outfits all the time and volunteer at school festivals!!!
Hawks: Aaaand! We can raise him to hold a grudge against your family so he can avenge you!
Dabi: Okay, now I'm listening

Watching a series about how cult leaders are made and again I'm in awe of how Tomura had everything laid down for him to become one.
He kinda was during the Paranormal Liberation Front bit, but he really didn't care about them 😭
It's impressive how many times he chose to be honest with the members of the League. He was not trying to manipulate them, he was not trying to mastermind anything ill intended with them??? He never tried to use AFO's name to give himself more importance, which is wild. You're the heir of the king of the underworld, but you use it as an excuse for others to bow down to him. Sure, you call yourself the king, but that's because you will do it by "your own merits"???
There's even a moment in MVA when Compress is soooooo worried over Tomura's wellbeing that he uses Tomura's identities as leverage to force Doc Garaki to help them!!! Crazy crazy, Mr. Compress goes "HE CAN'T DIE HE'S AFO'S SPECIAL BOY RIGHT? YOU MUST HELP HIM". It's so clear that Mr. Compress didn't care about the AFO bit, but he knew Garaki cared and Compress would do anything to keep Tomura protected.
I'm just saying!!
He could have taken advantage of them, but the most Tomura did was break them free and told them to cause havoc. He never encouraged them to not be friends, to distrust each other or to only pay attention to him. He never encouraged them to compete to be closer to him. There weren't any ranks beside him as the boss and even then he'd go beside them to war, he'd fight next to them, he would listen to their complaints and change what he could to accommodate their demands.
Right from the start, Tomura never saw them as his slaves (like AFO) or soldiers (like Redestro). He did call them pawns in a game once at the start. The difference with Overhaul is that Tomura saw himself also as a pawn and he saw the League as important characters. That's his team. He won't plan for them to die or sacrifice themselves. He plans for them to succeed! He plans on making their dreams come true, not just his. He won't put his own goals over theirs, he won't destroy what they like, he won't cut down their freedom.
Tomura explicitly opposed the cult-like systems of bnha. He called Redestro a coward for letting his people fight for him while he watched from afar. Tomura challenged Overhaul over the importance of their "subordinates", making clear that he didn't consider the League of Villains disposable or even replaceable. While AFO took over his body he would only talk about himself over and over, but whenever Tomura broke through and as soon as he was back in control, he talked about his friends and the League. Even through the possession and the fighting and the pain, they were in his mind.
He was thinking of them.
Tomura was a brat. He would throw tantrums and call himself the king and give orders and arrange plans without them. The difference is that Tomura never tried to step over the League of Villains. He didn't care if Spinner had a weak quirk, he was a valuable member as the rest. He didn't punish Twice for bringing Overhaul to them, instead gave him a chance to make it up because he knew that Twice was feeling bad about it. Tomura allowed Dabi to come and go as he pleased, trusting him even if Dabi never had a good recruited lol. He'd call Toga a brat, but he'd defend her too and he'd answer to her whenever she questioned him. He spared an entire cult system for Compress and his sushi. He terrorized Overhaul to avenge Magne.
Tomura never snapped at any of them beyond their introductions. Even when they'd sometimes threaten him physically. Even then.
He had everything to be a crazy cult leader who promised the ending of times, a free world and whatever. He talked a lot of bullshit, said a lot of true things, but he was human about it, sincere.
He never lied to the heroes either, did he? Never said something he didn't believe in. Never hide his hatred or resentment. Tomura never pretended to be someone he was not, unlike AFO.
I think about all of this when people ask if Tomura can be saved. I think about how his circumstances were the worst imaginable, about the weight of the grooming, abuse and the brainwashing he had to survive. I think of 21 consecutive years of hell on Earth, but somehow he isn't as cruel as others. He can be, he showed us as much. He has done terrible things just because he wanted, not 'cause he was told to or manipulated into doing it. If he wanted, he could be as cruel as AFO.
And yet.
And yet.

Small itty bitty angst request that came to me after reading one of your dabi and teen reader fics. So this request is based off the one where teen reader gets hurt by endevor but hear me out. Maybe endevor gets teen reader like he ends up killing them and dabi finds their body? How would he react? If you’re comfortable with this ask.
-dawn dish soap anon
A/N: I forgot how much I love writing angst xd. Thanks for the request, I changed the concept a bit but I hope that's okay.
-S
+200ish words.
TW/CW: um..., well reader dies so that and Dabi being sad and angsty and Endeavour.
Tumblr media
Dabi had seen a lot in his relatively short life.
He had been hurt more than anyone should be.
And you had been a constant in his life for a long time. Taking you under his wing was his way to help a teen, something that no one did for him.
Dabi didn’t want you to be a part of the violence and fighting. You were just a kid after all.
But he couldn’t stop you even if he tried. You had made up your mind and Dabi just had to live with it.
He wasn’t even there for you in your last moments, he had been off of the city for another mission.
When Dabi heard of the incident... he saw red.
~~~
Seeing your body broke him. Inside and out, it broke him like nothing else.
And every second that he looked at your body made his anger for his father grow larger. Endeavour had taken Dabi’s own childhood, destroyed his family and now Dabi had lost a part of the new family that he built had for himself.
Dabi will avenge you even if that’s not what you would have wanted.
He will burn down everything that his father had ever loved or earned for you.
I saw your post for more platonic Dabi and I was wondering how you think Dabi would comfort a reader who had a panic attack and or is extremely socially anxious and always seeks him out for comfort. Whenever reader is anxious in public they hold onto the corner of his shirt or sleeve and tend to follow him or stick close to his side. If reader didn’t have the best home life then they’re probably constantly afraid Dabi is going to hate them or leave them. Reader is the kind of person who will let people talk down to them, mistreat them but heaven forbid anyone so much as looks at Dabi in distain/disgust. Reader will defend him with their life and is constantly defending him from other people’s opinions. Basically just reader and Dabi being each other’s found family
Okay, for starters I would like to apologize from the deepest depths of my heart. I am not right the head (obviously.) and I would like to give you the right to owning my soul, for I have been putting off your kind request for so long, and I genuinely am so sorry for the delay.
Now I actually think that this is very interesting especially form an analytical stand point.
Because Dabi does not like weak people. both physically and mentally. It's primarily rooted form his turbulent relationship with his father where he constantly tried to get stronger and better through training and pushing himself to be a strong as possible to please his father. his idol.
from that I think he would despise those weaker than him, not because he actually hates them, but more so because he needs to put other people down to rise himself up. it's more so "it's not that I should succeed, others should fail." it makes him feel better about himself, gives him that feeling of accomplishment that he would normally get from his father saying "good job." but eh rather gets it from bullying.
You'd have to do something truly spectacular to catch his eye for him to not put you down like he does everyone else.
I don't think it could be kindness, since when Rei persuades him to stop training an pushing himself so hard, he instead takes it as her trying to stop him. I'm not saying that that exact senario would play out as in
reader : Dabi! I got you flowers.
Dabi : YOU WANT TO STOP ME FROM BEING A HERO??!?!?!?!?
I'm saying he has a hard time accepting kindness, I'm saying he might not know what is someone trying to help him and what is someone trying to hurt him. like Rei does. this might actually draw him away.
I think what might actually work is the relationship he had with Fuyumi and Natsuo. because all three were heavily affected by their father's neglect and violence and I think that this may be evidence of sympathy or a ledge to protect them one day as a hero.
(of course, he doesn't become a hero, rather going partially insane as I would say and focusing on getting revenge on Enji, most likely to avenge himself and his brother and sister.)
what may lead him to you is the shared sympathy the both of you have when it comes to bad origins. it's the same sympathy he had with this siblings (minus Shoto) I'm thinking he walks in at the wrong time while you're in the middle of crying your heart out I do that way to often and while he doesn't interfere right at that moment, he will talk to you as best as his unsocial ass can. things like "sorry that happened to you." "you're not alone, that happened to me too." undercover of sarcastic remarks like "you're such a crybaby."
or something easier where the both of you reveal more and about your pasts forming a close relationship. details like "my dad would be pissed about that." or "ugh! that's something mom would say!" after a cruel insult. it would be an unspoken bond but a bond nonetheless.
this gives him an undying sympathy for you that he can't properly express. trust me he has so many things to say.
"I love you."
"thank you for being there for me."
"I would give you the world if asked."
"you're the reason I get up in the morning."
but for a child of an abusive and unloving relationship, the words are just not there. no seriously. there's only this feeling of warmth with you and nothing else. no words, only a flurry of pinkish love.
He'll let you come to him like the little ball of fear and sadness you are at times, he'll let you cuddle up you him as much as you want. he'll push you off when calm down a bit though, he'll leave with a grumble about how needy you can be.
note though, that he would probably never push you off immediately. it's not that he hates you, he thinks you're disgusting and the worst thing to ever exist.
it's just that he doesn't know how to respond. and I don't blame him.
it takes a while to get used to, get used to being loved and having something to love. but once he does you are SO in for it.
I'm talking flowers from the grocery store, free stolen popsicles, the right to murder anybody and have him help you clean it all up.
because he genuinely loves you, he really does, and when he understands after a couple years of knowing each other how to receiprocate your love, it suddenly all become to easy to be human, to be alive, to be happy.
he also does doesn't like you being talked down to. it comes from the depths of his childhood dream of being a hero and protecting people. especially loved ones like he does for Fuyumi and Natsuo. this also transforms into a need to provide for his loved ones, this can take form in helping you put together furniture, helping you with groceries, and talking to you when you're lonely. things you would do with your dad, which he basically is at this point.
on the same boat, he doesn't like you to fight for him. in his mind, it's HIS job to protect you not vice versa. he's seen you cry, talked you through your panic attacks, been there through those nights. you've already fought so much with yourself, you should not be fighting for him.
it's beautiful really. how much this one thing can change Dabi. it's just that you'll have to stick with him through the sarcasm and the insults and the roasts. but in the end.
he loves you. he'll protect you. maybe not Japan as a hero, but this one little thing. this one little perfect thing, he'll die for.
Tbh, you can just tell Bakugo wasn't meant to be important from the fact that he doesn't have a villain. Midoriya and Shigaraki, Toga and Ochako, Shoto and Dabi are foils of each other. They represent both a light and dark side each of them. They represent aspects of hero society that are good, and things that need to change. Bakugo really doesn't have that. You could make the argue he's his own enemy, but I think it would be a lot better thematically if he during his time at UA, he actually DOES something heroic and DOES save his own villain. But, no. Horikoshi just shoved him in there to what was suppose to be Midoriya's time to shine but that went to the author's favorite. :/
Lmao, one time someone on YouTube said, "How the hell is he supposed to be the Symbol of Victory if he doesn't even have his own villain?"
The problem with Bakugou is that his behavior was so awful that there is no "dark side" to someone like him. Like, he is the dark side, if that makes sense. Bakugou was a villain who was never treated like one.
His "villain" is supposed to be All For One. And if Horikoshi actually acknowledged how alike they are, this could have made sense. They're both egotistical, arrogant, and obsessive. There's also a ton of imagery similarity. But Horikoshi would never admit that his precious pet is anything like AFO😒 No, instead he's just like good, benevolent Second who AFO hates with a passion.
It also doesn't work because AFO was already Toshinori's villain. I've said it before, but instead of Bakugou saving him, Toshi should have killed AFO and end up dying in the process. He should have been the one to avenge Nana and the other OFA holders, not dumb ass stupid ass Bakugou who literally looked down on them. It was also All Might's one goal the entire time he was a hero
hey habs!! hope you’re having a great day
i was wondering what your thoughts are about the league? or if you have any at all. i’ve seen you draw dabi and shigaraki a few times, and i thought there was…… something?
sorry i’m huuuge shiggs fan and i really wanted to know what you think about him or any other character from the league maybe… (your doodles with shigaraki being adopted by inko are saved to my phone, locked with a password and when i look at them every now and then i suddenly feel like the world is a much better place for me. i hope you forgive me)
by the way i adore your art!!!!!! it keeps me going every day
thank you in advance!! have a blessed time of day
I love the league! Toga and shigaraki easily top ten characters for me in the series, same with spinner. The fan stuff people make where the lov is all happy and play video games together is very "avengers all live in the tower and get along" and I mean that in the most positive way, I love seeing things where they're bffs or living out the found family trope they deserve
Shigaraki specifically is like,, a poor wet cat left out in the rain to me. I want him to have a good ending so bad. I just have to live vicariously through my "inko adopts tenko and he is loved like he was deserved to be loved" which I really want to draw more of lol
