My news consumption has gotten pretty geopolitical throughout the year and uhh. Chinese ppl been acting out fr here lately…..
Just unfortunately came across some social media coverage of a recent instance where a Black girl was literally approached out of nowhere in Mainland China by a man who, totally and completely unprovoked, confronted her to insult and humble her about her complexion 😅
Dunno if she was a polyglot or just a traveler, but she did clap back with eloquent, articulate Chinese to check him (which I can only assume shook his racist ass in the midst), and I’m really proud of her for it, but. Ion know man, non black human beings at large definitely seem to have an open preference for mistreating Black People in general — although Black Women with far more particular bias; esp when it comes to dark skinned Black Women.
I cannot for the life of me understand how this is “rationalised” or collective enough in its global perpetuation to be normal — and it really reeeeeally gets under my skin when people will justify this when it comes from members of homogenous societies as if that nullifies racist behavior towards us. Like to go out of your way to confront a perfect stranger like this is absolutely insane to me. It’s even worse when you consider how this kind of thing does not happen in any real prevalence to non black women who travel to African or Caribbean territories. It’s not even worth pouring over statistically; it just doesn’t happen in any comparison in a world sustained on sheer disregard and disrespect for Black people. Even on the basis of colorism in Asia as it applies to women ostracized for not being fair skinned, it still does not compare to stuff like this.
Like I seriously doubt this would have happened to an Asian woman of any cultural calibre travelling as a foreigner in Africa, or Jamaica, or Haiti. Yet it is a testament to how righteous or excusable non black people feel it is to subject Black Women to this exact kind of harassment, that someone could be so beside themselves to do it to one of us in China on sight. Mainland China, where the population of Black Women there for any reason at any given time is at best decimal. Just think about that.
This made me ill. Black travelers pls be safe, esp if you’re a Black Woman. People of all kinds make the world so fucking trash for us to exist in. 😂

the thing about modeling is that ppl rarely talk about the exploitation dark skin african models go thru (shaving their heads bc the industry doesnt wanna style their hair, being sexually + racially abused by photographers and higher ups in the industry, the very idea of scoping out african countries for models). its like theyre more disgusted at the mere thought of dark skin women being seen as beautiful than actual concern for the individual models. ive seen them repeatedly perpetuate the myth that women being dark skin is ‘otherworldly’ & that being dark skin is unique to men when theres women in my family and women ik throughout my life who are indeed that dark in real life.

Racist Tangled and Frozen fans arguing that Anna/Elsa and Rapunzel look totally different and it's impossible to tell them apart:
Tumblr media
Those same racist stans when two women of color from two completely separate movies/worlds who DON'T conform to white femininity(and aren't even the same race) appear:
Tumblr media
The people that keep saying that Asha is a copy of Isabela are actually just stupid racists, and no, you can’t change my mind.
I simply cannot take you seriously if you can pinpoint the differences between all of Disney’s white women but won’t give their women of colour the same grace. Isabela and Asha are both brown-skinned women that wear purple dresses and part their hair to the same side, but that’s about where the similarities end. Let me point out the differences for you so that you don’t keep sounding like an actual idiot!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Let’s start with the biggest difference between the two (albeit not a visual one): Isabela is Indigenous Colombian (South American) and Asha is Afro-Hispanic (European).
Their skin tones aren’t the same.
Isabela has long straight black hair; Asha has dark brown cornrows and braids.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Isabela has a mole; Asha has freckles.
Isabela’s face shape is rounder with higher cheekbones and a softer chin; Asha’s face shape is slightly longer with chubbier cheeks and a rounder chin.
Isabela’s eyes are dark brown, larger, and rounder with longer eyelashes; Asha’s eyes are lighter brown, smaller and more upturned with shorter eyelashes.
Isabela’s eyebrows are thicker, more angular, and are lower on her face; Asha’s are thinner, rounder, slightly bushy, and are higher on her face.
Isabela’s lips are not as full as Asha’s lips are.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Isabela’s nose is arched with a very noticeable bridge from the front and comes to a soft point; Asha’s nose is upturned, wider, and rounder like Disney’s other more recent heroines. Asha’s nostrils are also more prominent.
Isabela has a shorter and thicker build; Asha appears to be taller and thinner in comparison.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bonus: their appearances in their movie books.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I hope you all have a day.

Listening to Kendrick's diss and thinking of my ex abuser. Usually I organize my thoughts a lot better than this and I even drafted a post about my reasons for being kink critical and how you can't even tag something as "tw: really bad sexual things" in the Tumblr tags because weirdos literally comb through those tags looking for victims. So please forgive me.
TW: misogynoir, racism, rape, CSA, pedophilia, slavery, colorism
"He hates Black women, hypersexualizes 'em with kinks of a nympho fetish" and I'm so fucking glad he said this. From Serena to Rihanna, man. I wondered for a whole year why Black women were constantly preyed on by men (regardless of race) who also prey on children because I have seen it happen to four other Black women, including myself. The answer is not as simple as "men."
1. Black women look younger than what they are and can be used as proxies
2. Simultaneous racial and gender power dynamic
3. Hypersexualization of Black women that perceives us as sexual taboo, lumping them in with children
4. Black women and their children are dehumanized and not perceived and believed as victims, making it easy for predators to prey on both of them
5. A Black mother's fear of reporting CSA and lack of justice if reported (see 4)
There's even a colorism element to this and I noted it with Cassie. Darkskinned Black women and lightskinned Black women are sexually fetishized and victimized for different reasons, but the experience of it overlaps in the middle like a venn diagram. There's this myth that we can't be raped either because no one would be attracted to us or because we "tempted" our assailant. It definitely goes back to slavery.
It's not to invalidate one group over the other, but I think if DSBW and LSBW compared notes, they would have way too much in common when it comes to the men that preyed on them.
My non-Black abuser was obsessed with Black culture in a really disgusting, perverse yet covert way. Back then, I had no idea that non-Black people seek out Black romantic partners to victimize with racially motivated domestic abuse (repeated hate crimes), but abusers seek out victims in general and it never starts off in the beginning.
My abuser literally tried to coerce me into having a child and leaving my child with him and saying his mom would take care of the child—Bullshit. Like having that blind trust demanded of me makes my skin crawl with what I know today.
I remember asking him, "Why?" And the answer was such a red flag. "We would have cute babies."
When it comes to mixed Black children, they are fetishized. Often, they're the entire result of racial fetishization. You just can't have children based on what they could look like. You have children because you want to be a parent, a father, because you see a life with your child's mother. Not because of some weird Get Out shit where you need my genetics. The fuck?
There's a lot of ways that misogynoir really shows up in sex, the sexual violence is so extreme. It deserves its own post, but I'll just start by saying that the fetishization of Black women really revolves around the belief that our bodies are free for all's whereas white bodies must be treated with care—Tender is the Flesh really opened my eyes to that just off one paragraph. That's another essay for another day, goddamn.

So I Finally Watched The Little Mermaid(2023) movie...
And I LOVED IT!
It was such a beautiful and fun-loving film and as a Caribbean girlie I adored the new setting! It felt very at home and had a lot of the charm of the original! Halle Bailey was ofc perfect as Ariel and I loved her personality and stellar singing voice! She is an ANGEL in every sense of the word, my God!!! I also loved the references to the original fairytale, such as the quote in the beginning, the sea plants trying to drag Ariel down(similar to the original mermaid when swishing into the sea witch's lair), and Scuttle asking "did Ariel kill the prince yet?" as a reference to the original story where the mermaid was given a dagger to kill the prince with in order to get her tail back, but she refused and jumped into the sea to become sea foam.
I also loved Ariel's personality in this movie. She was both more badass and proactive(fighting Vanessa and taking her voice back on her own, being able to swim to the castle to stop Vanessa in the first place, unlike the original, saving Eric more than once, and saving her father's life) and more cute, sweet, and innocent than the original who was more feisty, sassy, and loud. It was nice and also subverted stereotypes of Black women, and I am here for it! Also I loved her outfits and the dainty, soft girl/cottagecore feel that they gave, even if like everyone else I still wish she had more variety. Also enjoyed the lyric changes to Poor Unfortunate Souls and Kiss the Girl(inb4 anyone says "but Ursula's the villain she's not supposed to be right!" okay I still think the sexism part served no purpose, and if many people still saw the movie as accidentally agreeing with Ursula's message, then maybe it wasn't executed right to begin with. besides she doesn't actually believe it, she's just saying it to manipulate Ariel, but misogyny has nothing to do with the story anyway so may as well just remove it lol. wish they had replaced it with something else, though.).
I also liked that Scuttle was female, as it gave Ariel more female relationships than in the original movie. Although I don't like Awkwafina and wish that her sisters had been given more attention as well.
And then there were the little things like Ariel teaching Eric how to say her name which was so cute and romantic and again, gave her more agency, and Jodi Benson passing the dinglehopper to Halle was so sweet! And also when Ariel became human and struggled to swim Ursula laughed and went "look at her stupid little feet!" which got a chuckle out of me!
Speaking of Ursula, Vanessa also had an awesome performance, despite the little screentime that she had. I would have loved to see her(well, Halle, but ykwim) sing the original lyrics from the animated movie.
And I also loved Queen Selina and Grimsby, and the wonderful parallel that Selina and Eric play to Triton and Ariel. Also loved seeing a DSBW as a queen, and her costume was gorgeous and phenomenal!
I think the only things that actively held the movie back for me performance-wise were Scuttlebutt(🤮) and Sebastians' fake AF cringe asl accent, also I agree with everyone else about the colors not being up to par, but this is supposed to be a positive review so I'll leave it at that.
Despite its minuscule flaws, this movie still made me happy, and I would gladly watch it again with friends! It was magical from start to finish, and definitely worth the wait!

She absorbed everything liberal ideology tells women to be, consent to her body and mind under a paywall, fetishized, tokenized, and categorized on a scale of vulnerability, dependent on male validation for her health, all under an air of ‘sexual liberation’, and it still wasn’t enough to make herself palatable to them, because she dared to ask a literal QUESTION. She can’t even ask the most benign inquisitive question that suggests no antagonism to trans people because it might start a conversation that again MIGHT hurt their feelings and pose threats to their delusions. They literally expect her to either shut off any semblance of critical thinking when it comes to trans people, with any other reaction other than enthusiastic sheeple screetching being an open call to genocide, or come to them only in a situation where they’re able to gas light her until she agrees, with no one there to point out how that’s creepy and weird. These borderline McCarthyist-tactics using sjws are functioning as an actual financially abusing cult that will blacklist you from communities you desperately need to survive or for understanding, take away your means of accruing a job or charity (they’re pulling her full name on blast, this is permanent and will show up for any time she tries to get a job or join an aide fund, they knew this and are reveling in seeing her suffer), so that her one of her only choices would be to cater to the lowest common denominators of depraved males, giving entire access to her through a ‘girlfriend experience’ (which sounds so creepy, she literally can’t leave these men unless she wants to risk potentially one of her only sources of income, this is so r*pey), all while being disabled. It’s just so painfully frustrating :(
Tumblr media
"sorry i tried to help a terminally-ill black woman, she doesn't deserve it bc she questioned saying that not dating trans people is transphobic!"
transphobia in question:

Can not even find it in myself to enjoy nashuri fics anymore😭😭 yall give that girl absolutely no agency, goes as far as to make her deny her own grief, and basically make Wakanda a weak vessel to Talokan all so you can write Namor giving her a crumb of dick?!?!? Y'all will have that man abuse, r@pe, and disrespect her as well as disregard any valid emotion she's SUPPOSED to have to prop him up as some faultless hero against colonization. And for a lot of the writers doing this to be black women, it's shameful what yall are portraying what could be a complex and intriguing (albeit tragic) relationship between a dsbw and another moc as. Make it full of angst, make it full of grief, but stop giving us this weird ass, desensitized trauma porn. Ofc that girl has a right to be pissed off, he killed her mother and she would not be screwing him a day after it happens and renouncing Wakanda before moving to Talokan to pop out his kids!?!?!? I've seen stories where he basically r-pes her in the throne room in front of her mother's dead body, one where he kills all of her remaining friends and family and he and all his generals r-pe her constantly and she still falls in love with him and they live happily ever after w multiple kids. Now tell me, does this make sense to yall?🙃 and the writer and comments alike are cheering it on and "rooting for him" despite the awful shit she's subjected to in these fics.

I don’t follow that side of Twitter and they’re all old anyway but the big pop culture accounts reported on it. That black women hating chef that rebranded on tik tok then came back on Twitter and got called out, I am so glad he lost his job. These grown nasty men attacked darkskin women all day and night saying the most vile inhumane things thinking it was funny and thought they’d get away with it. May they all fall like him amen. Whether it’s 8 years like him or 15. Every single one. Disgusting bozos. idgaf about fake apologizies. They don’t change, they were already grown men and they only apologize when it affects their livelihood. Keep the fake to yourself dickheads.
i saw this!! it was truly what he deserved. twitter was a dark time during those years for bw and especially dsbw :(

I did find it funny that they claimed Ginny and Georgia called them out on the blue filter, but like... does Ginny and Georgia really have the right to call any other show out on its treatment of dark skinned female characters? Ginny and Georgia is the standard? Really? Okay. Also the blue filter doesn’t look particularly good on anyone (although in certain scenes I actually think it works, yes, on Anna too) but they also used it considerably less as the show went on. This isn’t me excusing anything that was done to make Anna feel singled out, that was wrong and they shouldn’t be forgiven. But also, I can’t pretend like there were no changes made at all. The changes were made specifically because Anna spoke up and she deserves credit for that.
Binging the podcast since there are no new eps to watch (insert sobbing). I feel like u 2 are very balanced in your criticism and praise. I dont get why people have an issue with you in particular.
Ha Enjoy! We had a blast start to finish.
A quick summary of people's issue with me
Me: Kory having a storyline outside of being Dick's love interest is not an issue, Kory looks beautiful 24/7, and damn near every show has some off-seasons.
Titans 'fans' : Titans writers hate black women that's why she has her own story arc, Kory's wigs and powers look terrible due to said racism, and every season has been bad. You have to be delusional to expect things to get better.
Me: Kay. Then why do you keep watching?

Non blacks dni.
Like,,,,I hate to have to say this like this but. This just a thought. Idk where this perpetuation around dsbw being insecure w their complexions ever came from cus. When I tell yall I see & hear such blatant, more outwardly obvious insecurities way more often among dsbm than I ever do among dsbw, chile. Alotta these niggas lowkey be way too insecure to romantically pursue dsbw if they're dark skinned themselves & that shit is beyond weird.
And there definitely seems to be a correlation between how it seem like, the darker the nigga, the more colorist or self hating the reflection of his self worth & cultural value is in his dating patterns. Cus they exclusively lay up w, simp for & pedestalize non black women so aggressively (whom oddly enough can never retain their own non black cultural identity once they have the attention of black men — which to me off rip should be the most obvious & telltale sign of fetishism rather than personal attraction but).
Everybody (& i mean every, damn, body non black lol) got they hand out pouring all this energy into projecting that they have a relevance, understanding or proximity to blackness nowadays in this tsunami of an appropriative ass social "wave" — & these delusionally vindictive ass niggas leave the door propped wide ass open for em to walk thru, loiter, falsely claim our creativity & wash us out. And then spend the better part of the serial interracial relationships they be in cockily, relentlessly shitting on black women anywhere from like 60-100% of the time anyway. Even when we ain't studding them. Makes all the sense.
Mad props & appreciation for black men out here unafraid to be unpopularly centered — cus on God the average nigga don't even realize he the average nigga fr. Ion even see dsbw fiend for attention from white men or nbmoc the way these dudes be out here consciously & pridefully investing in white supremacy, antiblackness & colorism behind these culture vulture beckies & nbwoc. If you different, thank you. If you expending effort to genuinely esteem & uplift dsbw as a dsbm w/o needing something to gain in return, thank you. 🖤 if you out here safeguarding & gatekeeping blackness & diasporic black culture w purpose as a black man, thank you.
Shit wild out here. Literally all you gotta do is sit back & observe. Everybody on a bandwagon fr. Playing roles fr.

Because if we got dark skin Claudia I would have had to take a page out of her own book and start serial k!lling just to defend her.
Bass literally a shade off from Sam on a good day and the misogynoir is still prevalent in fandom.
exactly...its crazy how disinterested & even how vicious nb fans can be in their read of amc! claudia [esp some nb og VC fans] seeing a 14 year old black girl as a grown woman before she even actually mentally makes grown. implying louis's emotional dependency on claudia in amcverse has sexual undertones on his end? yall think my girl jezebel w it frl? their show dynamic gives more codependent emotionally draining black mother x her eldest daughter. bass and reid damn near the same makeup shade which is why it drive me mad when fans make claudia darker in art lol. i digress honestly im glad they had claudia also be a creole w louis cuz if it was lsbm louis & dsbw claudia id certainly side-eye louis a lot more for his overall emotional dependency on her & later manic-induced chokedown of claudia in ep7. not to say it isnt bad as is, but as both creoles theres a certain kindred spirit they have wrg to their conditional v context dependent racial caste w/ the fact that they can telepathically communicate while their white progenitor cant hear them. creole rl came about from a white man raping a black woman, yet the white creator is confounded on the nature of his own creations. makes claudia comparing lestat to a slave master funny & equitable when both louis & claudia are creoles. it wouldnt hit right & id argue it could have v well fell into rly regressive tropes of storytelling if claudia was played by a brown/dark skinned actress w lsbm louis & white lestat

Chrissie loses because she:
Cares about validation from DSBM when they don’t want her
She hates and loves ADSW (East African, Caribbean, mixed DS) This is why most of those women have run to EU channel because they can’t relate.
Obsesses over the BM in Hollywood who don’t have DSBW as wives?? (Why do you care?)
Is a conservative but she’s a UADSBW (like what are you conserving baby? Air)
Has videos where she'd mocked MLS women (it's giving random fan behavior)
Doesn’t want any of her fans making videos because she wants to be the only one
She only wants to make money off this space
This space hasn’t helped anyone in 15 years (DSBW promotion where??)
Focuses on men and femininity too much when the attraction is attraction, the black pill taught us that! She moves like a red-pill man with those videos.
Mocks other women who have been cheated on, or are going through a divorce if they aren’t DSBW (???? Why???? It’s giving pathetic)
A crybaby
Makes everything about C0lorism, like let’s be real!

Totally get that & I agree. Unyielding flaws in American culture & society are some of the biggest reasons I’ve decided to travel & relocate to Nigeria (among other reasons that speak to benefit) once I have my life & savings together to do so securely. It’s not that what you advise isn’t applicable, it’s just that ignoring the most prevalent social inconsistencies in the US doesn’t necessarily make those things vanish or less problematic. Undeniably though, everything outlined above is prevalent (borderline rampant) in America, & are things that desperately need analyzing regarding television, media & representation in this country. White people are still the foremost priority, while Black people are thought of least & last in everything on the other end of the extreme — even regarding our own representation.
Everything I bulleted is a major issue here (esp & particularly the erasure, defeminization & exclusion of Black Women romantically as well as socially). No other race of women is as casually or aggressively overlooked or heckled the way Black Women are on a regular basis, & no one gets it worst than dsbw in particular. Pick a continent; pick a country in literally any region of the world. There is more than likely conditioned bias there against Black People in general, Black Women specifically, or no social awareness to esteem anyone w dark skin or textured hair (or both) itfp. There’s likely social order around the basis of colorism, too.
These kinds of toxic normalcies affect Black People all over the world. While I wish I could just ignore stuff like that if it meant it could be undone by that alone, it’s simply not possible. Humanity has a lot of work to do on everything mentioned by the op down to this reblog before something like that would make even a sliver of a real difference. Props to Rwanda being more home to you than any part of the US ever was tho; love that for you.
TV/Media tropes that need to die immediately:
White Savior Complex
Angry Black Woman stereotype
Promiscuous/Unfaithful Bisexual stereotype
Token Gay trope
POC Sidekick/Best Friend trope
Good-Girl-Gone-Bad trope
“Not Like Other Girls” trope
*go ahead and add one if you like

idk if it’s because i have rbf or people assuming im too intimidating to talk to because im a dsbw but how do you make yourself approachable without catering to whiteness? (if you went thru the same thing if not any advice) especially in spaces you want to network or social climb or attract a high value man
I don’t worry about any of that; I just exist as I normally would, and I’m able to make friends and meet people. The second you start trying to mute parts of yourself to fit in, you’re losing out. You shouldn’t be trying to make yourself more palatable, you shouldn’t think of yourself as intimidating, and you shouldn’t worry about fitting in. Should you approach people and attempt to make friends? Absolutely. Should you smile more and make an effort to become comfortable? Yes. Should you try to get to know a space so you don’t go in blind? Definitely. Part of seeming like you truly fit in is being comfortable with yourself and with the environment you're in. People are more perceptive than you’d think, and if you seem closed off, they’ll assume that you are.

It’s actually nuts to say the way to fix Titans is to have horrible things happen to Kory then claim you love her.
Did not need to see a DSBW be a slave in flashbacks actually. Didn’t need to see a bunch of WM manhandling or mindcontrolling her because they couldn’t control their lust either.
No one who genuinely loves Kory would want those things for her.
And that’s not an opinion.
